I just wanted to share a fix from another thread I replied to on the Nexus 4 forum.
This worked for me on 3 Nexus 4 and 1 Optimus G E973.
Solution goes to Sp_Ark, Thanks!

Great, it helps
This is exactly what I needed! After going through all the trouble to convert my F180S to E975 running 4.4.2 and getting it working right, I was really frustrated when I noticed the proximity sensor wasn't working.
The rubber gasket that surrounds the light/proximity sensors need to actually be reversed (So that the large hole is covering the smaller sensor)
There is a little nub on the rubber bit that is supposed to be there to make it fit one way, but the phone will go back together just fine with it reversed. (I guess you could take an exacto knife and cut the bit off if you want, I don't see why it would affect it.)
I did notice my screen goes a little wonky thought, after reversing the gasket, I don't know if it has anything to do with that, but it's like there's input when I'm not touching the screen. Might be nothing, but either way, I can live with it!
Thanks for the help!!!!:victory:

Hello,
I dropped my Touch Pro 2 in fresh water. No insurance of course and no more discount from T-mobile to buy a new phone.
Following video instructions on youtube I disassembled it, I believe without breaking anything.
The LCD screen was gone (water inside), and I bought a new one in eBay.
Once I received it I reassambled the phone. Evertyhting seems to work fine but... the screen is stuck in landscape!
Of course I did soft and hard reset, tried to play / disable the G-sensor and orientation sensor, nothing: I believe it has to do with some switch that recognize when the keyboard is slide open, but I have no idea what sensor is it, I can't find any mechanism that resemble a micro switch or a mini magnet related to the opening / closing of the keyboard. Instead I find a microswitch that senses when the pen is inside, but nothing about the screen.
Any suggestion, does anybody here have any hardware knowledge on this topic? I tried to use software like Gyrator 2 which put a patch on the problem, but I would rather fix the hardware first: perhaps I did not mount something correctly, where is this sensor, is it magnetic or microswitch, I can't see anything even with lenses on.
thank you all in advance
....
I have exactly same problem, my TP2 is stuck in landscape mode. I bought TP2 in the US. My housing was broken so I bought a new one in europe the oem one with lcd screen and digitizer... Could this make the problem?
I am pretty sad, I dont want to buy a new phone :S
The sensor must be in the screen-half of the phone underneath where the red "end call" button is. This is demonstrated if a healthy phone is slid open, and then you pass a small magnet underneath the screen in that area, screen will flip between portrait and landscape.
Which yes I did the same thing today and it was your post randell that helped me. All you need to do is go to walmart purchase the smallest but most powerful smallest magnet you can find. cut you a piece of it, superglue it to the bottom right corner. worked like a charm.
or if you wanted to open your case back up like i did you can superglue it on the inside lol. If you look at your old case you will find your old magnet you can use. simple easy just thought id let you know k bye ta ta.

I was on here by chance and I had the same issue when I replaced my digitizer on my TP2 a year ago. I could never figure it out so I bit bullet and brought a new phone. I will try this when I get home and if it works be great because i loved that phone soo much when I had it thanks guys!!
i have replaced the entire casing for my wife's T7373. all seamed to go good. when the phone boots up it is stuck in landscape mode. as if it not seeing a switch or trigger to know that the keyboard is in. also the keyboard lite stays on.
i have taken the phone apart again and still i am not sure where the switch is. all i can see is the metal contact ramps on the ends of the slide.
Any help would be great. "wife not happy"
thank you

The sensor is magnetic that 'senses' whether or not the keyboard is open.
iFixIt.com is a great site to help with teardowns/troubleshooting.
thank you , that joged my memory. well at least i hope i can get it fixed or the wife will kill me....
I also need to replace my case, the silver colored edge has cracked in a few places. Might I ask where you got your replacement case from? Any tips you can give from your experience replacing it?
for the replacement of the silver case can you find at http://www.amazon.com/Silver-Housing-HTC-Repair-Replacement/dp/B0052QW60Y
and at http://shop.brando.com/htc-touch-pro-2-replacement-back-cover-silver_p04432c1050d039.html
i got mine off e-bay http://www.ebay.com/itm/370526944677?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649
had all the parts i needed, everything worked well. only trouble i had was the the magnet for the screen rotation. remounting the brass screw inserts was fun, what i did was use one the longer screws same size. and heated the brass up and screwed the brass insert in.
other little tips. there will be little plastic parts and need re-secured. i just heated up a end of a T25 to melt the little tabs.
have fun it took me about 2 hours and , had to take part the phone a few times to make sure i got it all right.
hi all
i have a strange problem on my 1 day old note2
i have been playing with all the feature and have discovered a sort of dead area when using the pen
load up snote/memo or anything else using the pen
then on the right hand side when using the pen there is a square about 1cm in size that does not detect the pen when applying NORMAL pressure, using my finger its fine.. then to make it more odd if i apply i little more pressure it picks up the pen.. when applying pressure the line being drawn is more bold everywhere until i draw over the dead spot when it becomes a lighter line ie nor picking up the same pressure,,
i hope my very bad explanation is understood lol..
phone is 1 day old and i'm not sure if i have a fault or a bug
firmware is stock thailand
gt-n7100
4.1.1
baseband n7100dxalj1
build jroo3c.n7100xxalj3

is there a thread about this issue .. looked but cannot see
Does your case have a magnet on the side of where your S-Pen does not work?
It happened with me as well.

yup.. thats the problem
having more info in hand google was my friend
:Apprarantly this problem occurs if you use a case with a magnet. The area will correspond with the location of the magnet.Samsung’s user manual clearly states not to use it with cases that have magnets. People have also commented on how this effects the internal compass too. Prolonged exposure will apparently result in the internals getting magnetized – no way out then!
People have reported that even after removing the magnetic case, it take between 24-48 hours for the effects to disappear. .!:
very worrying
i wonder if there is a way to block the magnet in the case from effecting the note..
otherwise its throw out the new case
Hello everyone,
My phone screen started behaving like on this video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qIDmuiXc-Ms
The screen starts to flicker until it eventually fades to black.
If you check on the comments someone suggested "remove motherboard cover then put a little folded paper on top of camera connector then put the cover back on so the paper push the motherboard down...." . I used a piece of pencil eraser instead of paper and the problem seems to be GONE!!
P.S: I HAD THE WIFI SAVED BUT NOT CONNECTING ISSUE TOO, BUT IT HAS BEEN FIXED BY THIS METHOD AS WELL.
Thanks this is working so far

I've done this and it appears to be working... not sure for how long though. First tried it with a couple of pieces of thin card but that didn't work, am now using a cut up cigarette filter!
Needs to be about 2-3mm thick, enough to make it difficult to get the motherboard cover to fit at the top of the screen when you put it back on, and then tighten the screws enough to hold it in place. Bit trial and error with thickness, took me three attempts.
Image here shows where to put it Follow the arrow!
this worked for me for one month. Now my g3 is all dead
i put a piece of folded paper on the back camera's connector and it worked like a charm. then it started again. but this time i put another piece of paper above both cameras (front and back). thats because when you leave a folded paper on the left side (back camera) it lifts the other side. if the flickering starts again, leave 2 folded papers above the back and front cameras connectors

This worked perfectly for me except I used two thinly sliced pieces of pencil eraser. Thank you!
Are you using custom ROM or custom kernel? Initially I also thought it was hardware issue but after trying to trace it down it turned out it was a software one. The moment I root my original ROM it starts doing it. The absolute stock ROM doesn't do it.... at-least for me... still I haven't found the exact cause... It is a pure random... sometimes it do it all the time... sometime it could last a week (or until reset). I've noticed that it is OK for several days after flashing a ROM and then starts doing it again. For now my fix is to keep my custom rom and flash it from time to time (without clearing caches or anything).... Also you can clearly tell that it is probably a software issue by that the camera records perfectly video while happening... the sound is also working... gps ... everything works perfectly while it is happening (except for the screen).
It's also not an overheating problem... it could be however due to a ****ty battery as I notice slight increase of power when it is happening....

Thanks for the picture, i'm facing this issue. Will try to fix is using this method and will report back
@ gado45 this worked for me for one month. Now my g3 is all
It's because you used heat retaining materia in there, it's should a heat resistant ones.
Any updates on this issue?
I've just bought used One m9, it was like 100$ under regular price range, that is the reason i bought it. It's missing camera lens cover, and has few big scratches and maybe a little one on camera(whith i'm planning to change if that's really it), that is just, lets say, cosmetic problems.. Thing that bothers me most is that led notification is not working, not even when charging. I've tried that diagnostic things(i mean that *#*#34...), no luck there too. So, what can i do to check if it's software of hardware problem? Thanks in advance.
info on device: 6.0andr, official rom, not rooted.
I have same problem. No obvious issues with device outside of scratches. Doesn't work when charging either. Would be very curious if there is some kind of software thing that works.
It has probably been dropped and broke the led. If it is the front camera with all the damage then it explains a lot.. If the rear camera is damaged then the top of the phone has probably taken an impact damaging various stuff..
Sent from my HTC One M9 using Tapatalk
I thought that was the reason too, but hoped that is some kind of software bug or anything else software related. Thanks for replies guys.
did you ever get it fixed? mine has the same issue, i think i might just have to live with it broken
Hi,
i had the same problem, the indicator light stopped working and i don't even noticed it.
I tested the LED with the HTC service test nothing, i flashed different images nothing.
I searched for replacement parts to fix it, im not 100% shure but i think the LED is on the Camera Board you can find it on fixit.
After 4 hours i just grab a toothbrush and clean the area over the led and it worked ! It was just dirt over the notification LED.
i hope this is helpful for somebody

It so is! I thought mine was done for for easily over a year. Read your post, grabbed a toothbrush and low and behold, a tiny little LED appeared!
To add to the usefulness of your post I'd like to note to anyone reading how small the LED is on this thing. It's the size of ONE of the little holes on the speaker, on the bottom row, about 5 holes in from the right edge. It's super tiny, so It's apparently easily covered with dust.

Hi, only to inform, just in case you plan to clean again later, it's the 7th hole starting from the right-bottom one
