Haven't tried the rom yet, but It must be because this kernel uses Googles colors instead of LG, you can change the colors with TricksterMOD.

He is correct. Download TricksterMod from the app store and change color settings from Google to LG. Colors will look like what you are accustom to.

New build up in OP

one more thing, lowest cpu frequency is locked at 918mhz. trickster mod is useless with this, it cannot lock it at any lower rate

Might want to try a different kernel(it will have to be a modded kernel), but check your actual CPU stats. I'm betting it's actually dropping into the 300's and trickster may be lying to you.

I'm unable to tell if you're just saying that the ROM is getting a lot of attention - it's a damn awesome ROM and should get lots of love haha - or if you're implying that I'm stepping on toes. GEE is for GEEHRC(E975) and GEESPR(LS970), so GEEB would still need to get built.
Covered my bases haha. Happy to hear GEEB is getting some Carbon love too. This is by far my favorite ROM.

Just saying that it's getting a lot of attention and redundant building? Because for my Carbon GEEB that I built, all GEEHRC and GEESPR users have to do is flash their own kernel and they should be good to go.... As far as I know anyways. No toe stepping or anything :highfive:
What if we just worked together and made Carbon even more awesome? Though I'm a GIT noob so I don't know if you would want that lol.

Haha, yeah, I'm simply a builder man. I have no programming experience whatsoever and no free time to dedicate to learning. I know only enough to get by. And Carbon...more awesome? My reality would shatter and my mind would explode if that were to happen lol.

No floating window yet. It's been an open project for a couple days now, hopefully they'll get it pegged down and merged here soon! Here's a link showing their work - https://review.carbonrom.org/#/c/474/

Ak-xGenesis I've heard works wonderfully with this ROM. If you're running a GEEHRC device, you can head over to the Sprint LG Optimus G forum and download GEE there...if it isn't in this forum. If you're running a GEEB device, I'm uncertain of which modded kernels you guys have.

Android 4.4.4 is out !!!

I have only two problems with this rom compared to the 4.4.2 build of Kevin:
1. LTE doesn't seem to work on my international geehrc. using the testing app to set different types of networks it seems there's some misunderstanding with the radio. my phone connects to HSPA/HSPA+ even when configured with WCDMA only or GSM auto or... Unknown .
2. no FM radio app.
does LTE work for you guys? I mean in the sense of displaying LTE next to the signal bars.
there's also the chance that orange implemented HSPA+ in my area and sells it as 4G and the 4.4.2 rom was showing it as 4G not as H+.

Galaxy Nexus JellyBean ROM Feature Comparison

As most users on XDA, I've got a rooted device that I want to use a custom ROM on, and there are so many choices it makes choosing a ROM very difficult.
And it is all a matter of preference, depending what included features (included Gapps, default launcher, notification options, etc) or what base it is built from (CM10, AOSP, AOKP, etc) everyone has their own preference.
I created this public spreadsheet, but I thought it may be useful for others, and allow others to possibly to keep track of what features are included out-of-the-box on different custom ROMs. It has really taken off since I originally created it.
http://goo.gl/U8a0E
Hopefully this can help others like me who want to quickly know what features they will or won't have with different custom ROMs.
I considered trying to do a forum post on this, but obviously I would have to keep up with updates myself on Post #1 like most stickied reference posts, that's why I thought a public Google Spreadsheet would be more helpful as anyone can update it.
Overall, a lot of this will probably be moot once a stable CM10 is released, but we never really know how long that can take. And we all know there will still be customizations made to it, one I can think of specifically is Paranoid Android.
Thanks everyone who makes updates to the sheet. I would also like to throw out a HUGE thank you to the custom ROM makers giving us stable ROMs that meet our individual needs.
And, as the Google Doc can be viewed by ANYONE, must get permission on google account to edit.
My personal "Must Haves":
- T9 Dialer (avoid having to install separate dialer app)
- Customizable Notification drop down for Additional Toggles (this has replaced the need for Widgetsoid2 since I can have the Flashlight and Wifi AP here.)
- Reboot and Reboot to Recovery in Power Menu (Mostly Reboot as a minimum as I sometimes forget to turn it back on if I Poweroff)
- Battery Percentage in Status Bar (The logo itself is no where near specific enough for my needs, and I now prefer the circle style)
NOVEMBER 24, 2012 UPDATE: Personally I've switched over to Paranoid Android 2.99.3 (beta 3), it doesn't have my personal must haves yet, but I'm sure it will, currently I'd rather have 4.2 and lose a few features, than be running 4.1.2, it is one of the first roms with customizations to be released on AOSP 4.2, so until it is 3.x it could have some bugs.

This is nice. I have bought gnex seven days ago and tried every JB ROM so far.
Also I noticed that paranoid, like you said ( the only ROM that I am using as a daily driver ) is not on this list.
You really should try his alpha 1.9.1 with included kernel. Well now all kernels work on this ROM. But I think that gnex is the beast already and doesnt need any Custom kernels.
Hey I like Franco kernel and I purchased his app and I am playing a lot with it, but as long as I need decent battery life I will use stock kernel. On that ROM I had only 2% of battery dropped in amazing 6 night hours. I just couldnt believe my eyes.

Yeah, I was trying to find a good ROM to get me by until CM10 was officially released as "Stable", and I was going to wait until that to try Paranoid Android, especially with all the customization I can do in it.
I may have to give it a try, maybe once I see my spreadsheet fill up with more user input. I'm already seeing a lot of activity on the sheet.

Thanks, I assume you added Soft and Chewy.
I'm downloading the newest CM10 and JellyBro to load onto my Nexus quick, hopefully I will get those two filled in completely, then at least I will know where my baseline is for my own personal comparison.
A few people have messed it up a bit and I'm sure some changes got lost, but if I don't leave it wide open, I know a lot of people won't make changes.
So, after all of that, and the spreadsheet getting updated by users pretty nicely, it looks like there is a functional enough CM10 (from the +Google page) v1.8 that is stable enough for me to start using as a daily driver for at least a few days.
I'll be using Gapps-b as I need Picasa sync to be working.
Damn! That's great work, well done! Keeping this up to date will be the hardest part but if you manage it you will help the Galaxy Nexus community a lot! I'll try to help. Keep up the good work.

I agree, I didn't put the battery life on there, all roms except the Nightlies like to advertise "Good" battery life anyway.
That's one of the issues with leaving it editable by anyone.

You could leave the public version as is, but add a "revised" version (editable only by you) that weeds out any egregious and obvious inaccuracies.
Oops misread.
I started one of these back in the day for the droid Eris. You should be able to leave it public, you can always see and revert changes.

So, overall, I definitely accomplished what I wanted to do with the Google Doc, everyone has been awesome with their updates to it.
But, for myself, the Doc is basically useless as soon as I found CM10 v1.8 on the +Google page, which is basically a very stable nightly (although it isn't), it is exactly what I wanted....
It's very stable, gives me all the features I have as my "Bare Minimum"
- Toggles in notification screen
- Battery Percentage in Status bar
- Reboot options in shutdown menu
I ended up in the exact same state after trying numerous custom roms on my HTC Desire and Motorola Atrix previously, always just ending up with CyanogenMod7.
And I happened to just fall onto the +Google post with v1.8 while compiling the Google Doc. Was about to download 1.3 then 1.8 was posted and I'm LOVING it.
And as long as I stick to CM10, I shouldn't have to wipe my data, I'm tired of doing all my Titanium Restores (as I don't have the paid version).
Again, thanks everyone for updating the Google Doc, and as I've made it public, anyone should be able to update it and keep it updated for other people out there that want to use custom roms. And if anyone ever needs to revert anything that really breaks it, all you have to do is log in with your google account.
I really hope it helps some people find the ROM they want to use for their specific needs. And it would be nice to see more of these for different devices, especially for devices not officially supported by CyanogenMod. I may have to get one started for my Motorola Atrix 4G.
Anyone notice this on both CM official and jelly bro.
There's no Document Viewer app??? it's in stock! I can view pdf, microsoft word, without needing to download 3rd party app.
Show widget before lockscreen seems not working in both CM official and jelly bro.
Great work. Should always be maintained and help users what they really want.

It may be in stock, but is not in AOSP.
Plenty of apps on the market for it, which is how we justify not adding one.

Speaking of that, does anyone know what document viewer the stock Nexus uses, and if there is an Play App, or APK I can install on CM10 that is the same.
I have Documents to Go, but I'm wondering what the Stock nexus one is.
I've added this to the spreadsheet as CM10 not having one, so if we know which app the Stock has I can put that on the spreadsheet.
Thanks.

CyanogenPure?

I love CyanogenMod, I really do. It is constantly improving and the devs working on it obviously work very hard to keep things running smoothly. However, with a codebase this large, constant improvements inevitably leads to a fairly consistent stream of new bugs amidst the improvements. I understand that nightlies are not intended to be used as daily drivers, although usually they are stable enough for most here at XDA.
Acknowledging all of this: I can't help but wish on some days that I could take the excellent skills/care/devotion of the CyanogenMod team and have them devote a fraction of their work to create a pure, optimized AOSP ROM. No mods, no community apps, and (hopefully) no bugs. This would be an incredible stop-gap between the initial build of a new CM nightlie (say, CM11) and the inevitable stable release.
This is NOT a statement against the added mods/apps to CyanogenMod (File Manager, Apollo, DSP Manager, etc.), I am very much of the opinion that these additions are beneficial, even necessary to the growth of CyanogenMod.
I do not expect this to happen, and I especially do not expect them to go back through CM10 and line-by-line strip all of their adjustments/additions. I understand that they are all very busy at work to keep us happy, and I appreciate that. Think of this as wishful thinking from a big fan.
Am I alone in this opinion?
it is called an AOSP rom. in this case vanilla. get a nexus device for that
Obviously, but I think you're missing my point...or you didn't read my post.

I don't see any after a quick search. I've used pure vanilla ROMs on my evo/evo3d and they were pretty terrible. I just assumed, by prior experience and lack of vanilla roms here, that they were tricky.
no, thats just because AOSP roms lack features that people crave from CM or AOKP
Alright, so we're back to my initial post now.
In other words an aosp pure android rom is not people look forward to. Cm10 stable rom is there and probably with like one minor bug or two.

EXACTLY. i love how hard the devs work to improve android and add features but until its possible to get a stable rom with these features I'd prefer simple, pure vanilla with all work going towards stability. Maybe I'll start on that one day

You can't ask for optimization with stability. The nightlies are there because that's what they're trying to achieve, if it's not stable enough for you - don't use it. Go back to TW. That's the closest to pure stable for this device you're going to get. There are -always- bugs, even in the most fine tuned software, because it's all about what the user puts on their devices and how it interacts with the system.
Plus, not too long ago CM released the CM10 Milestone 2. It's stable enough for daily use. Give that a shot. If it's not to your liking, pull CM's device tree into a freshly synced repo of AOSP and compile it. See how easy it is to get it working.

this is true, but i'd be using this with mostly stock software + social network feeds and games only
the milestones are a great idea, and probably the closest thing im going to get to this, but they are still snapshots of mostly stable aosp with many many tweaks to keep modifications that i may or may not use stable. not exactly ideal, but thanks for the suggestion. i'll probably stick with the newest m build when it is ready.
im not asking for cms device tree compiled as it is, or anything at all. im just hoping that before or adjacent to cm11 getting going with mods and tweaks that they will release builds tailored to vanilla and nothing else, concentrating only on bugs before adding things and testing them and adding things and breaking things and testing them and so on and so forth. i feel im not communicating this efficiently and im sorry

Does the bottom mic work on M2? What about the data drops that constantly happen? Does it transition well from LTE to 3G, vice versa?
And these are serious questions, I'm not trying to be a [email protected] at all.
I have a 20 month old baby girl so I do a lot of video recording, so the bottom mic is important to me since the top one doesn't pick anything up unless you're basically speaking directly into it. I do a lot of business through my phone, so a reliable data connection is obviously very important too. I've had BB6 on my phone for about a week now, and I absolutely love it...with these two exceptions. It seems they're both problems with all AOSP ROMs. If they get fixed sooner rather than later, there will be zero reason to have TW ROM for me.
EDIT: And GPS seems to take quite a bit longer to lock on compared to TW.

I was using m2 for quite a while before I switched over to bb6. In my time playing with m2 I found that video recording was fine and data connectivity took about 10 seconds longer on a reboot. Other than that I've experienced no data drops.
To add to this, YMMV. I'm not sure if my phone is different somehow but I've never had any of these problems that people describe with data drops at random.
Edit:
Also, as far as lte/3g hand off goes, I'm unable to test as I'm not in an lte area. As for GPS, it takes about 7 seconds to lock on in a room with no windows. Tested on slimbean, so again YMMV

Support
We spend an astonishing amount of time developing this software. We can't spend much time on XDA as a result, so if you need support, please try the following:
1) Search. Search, search, search. Yes, you. I don't care how unique or important your question is, it's very likely someone has adressed it already. Especially if you're even close to new at this.
2) Read our FAQ, which can be found on our website. Carbon FAQ
3) Ask a question in your device forum. Someone will no doubt try to help you. Warning: this help may come in the form of telling you it's a dumb question that has been asked before. See step 1 - such are the perils of asking questions when you haven't done the research yourself. Android is about helping yourself.
4) Ask a question on our IRC channel. Connect to #teamcarbon on irc.freenode.net or click here. You'll find several other Carbon fans and usually one or more devs as well. Please be polite.

Official Carbon KK! Very nice, sir.
You were hinting at this the other day in the other Carbon thread, looks like things are about to get very interesting around here. In more ways than one too.

Under Carbon Fibres -> Device Tuneables, The page is blank. Is this expected or did I mess up? I assume this is where you would toggle Halo, Ribbons, DPI, etc. No worries if it just isn't there yet! Looking great!
Thanks

Ah. That section is meant for devices that need/have special functionality. Kind of like vibration settings etc... It's device specific.

Yeah I'm testing this now, Carbon is an awesome ROM no matter what version I've tried previously. The community here will embrace this undoubtedly. Can't wait to see the progression to stable but looks like the ROM has some pretty neat features already including active display.
I plan on using this with no scripts or tweaks for the time being either, see how it does.

Well we read it here first! Also the new boot animation is great, and boot time is phenomenal. Boot only takes seconds and I have not had that with ONE single ROM yet. Boots have normally been about a minute or so with other ROMs.
I'm going to try some things I haven't tried in a bit like ART although previously my experience with it hasn't been good. But again, a lot of time has passed since the last time I tried it.
Edit: Well never mind, ART couldn't get past the first 10 apps. That is pretty much what I thought would happen so no big deal. It's almost at the point ART might as well be removed altogether from KK ROMs but that is only my take, so in other words that isn't happening.

Art works. Try doing it without gaaps. Some gaaps don't have art support and that's why it gets stuck.

Can anyone let me know how data is please. A lot of devs have perfected the icons showing but data is sketchy. I like the features that are listed here and I would love to make this my everyday driver. I have been a CM fan for ever but I don't like the change in policy. Build and send out then hope for the best. This ROM seems like the one to replace CM. Thank you.

data for me has been nothing short of a miracle! It has been switching seamlessly between 3G and LTE with no issues what-so-ever. I used to hate having to always reboot the phone just to get LTE in an area I know has LTE. I am also on the newest radio the GJ04 and have been for quite some time.
---------- Post added at 04:18 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:16 PM ----------
The only issue I have so far (and its not a deal breaker by any means) is screen rotation...when the screen rotates, it sort of gets fuzzy, like a bad picture, but then quickly fixes itself. Running Carbon KitKat on my SGS4 as well and it does not do that, so I'm thinking its something with the Toroplus??
dirty flashed the most recent nightly and running well. digging the pie controls. any way that the Carbon Updates in about phone could work to update to the latest nightly as there are no KK milestones?
Very impressed with this Rom !
downloaded and flashed yesterday, very nice and stable. I like that the dialer has the Google local business search function built-in, I remember earlier cm builds didn't have it...
Haven't noticed any hiccups yet!:good:
Anyone flash a custom kernel with this Rom? any kernel suggestions?
Alternative Kernel
flashed the tinykernel-5.5-ASRAM.zip yesterday and everything seems to be running smooth after a day of use. This kernel is giving me 733mb of RAM to work with, so you gain around 30mb over the included rom kernel. I've tested WIFI, GPS, camera, etc., everything seems to function as it should. I've also underclocked to 230MHz and kept the max set at 1200, although you can go over 1500MHz if your phone can handle it...mine usually freezes instantly around 1500. Currently I'm still on build from 2-13, but will be updating soon.
This Rom seems to be very stable and one of the best KitKat Roms I've tried ! I've also reduced animations setting, along w/ other available related settings down to .25 within developer options. Under this set up my phone is pretty snappy!
Data switching (3g/4g, Wifi) has been flawless so far!
Although the tiny kernel I mention above works on this Rom, I was experiencing pretty often freeze ups requiring battery pulls, so running the included kernel since updating the rom and haven't had to battery pull yet... so for now will stick w/ the included cyanogenmod kernel.
Overall Great Rom !

Dirty Unicorn for Tuna Download

I have since moved on to the Nexus 6, but came across this on my Google Plus feed. I haven't tested personally, but another user said it works on Maguro. Might work on Toro since it states "Tuna" in the name. Definitely recommend backing up before trying.
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24459283995314894
For those not familiar with Dirty Unicorns, they make a great custom firmware. Their team has some great Android veterans like Big Rushdog from the Omni and EOS days of the Xoom and Alex Cruz(Mazda).

Interesting. How did you find this?
I'll give this a shot on toro to see if it flashes.
EDIT: Working on a toro that calls itself a "tuna". I have yet to test with a true toro recovery.
I came across this yesterday too whist looking for alternatives.
There is a Custom ROM section of the Galaxy Nexus owners feed on Google Plus and it was posted there.

Yep, honestly speaking, it is looking like Google+ is the place to be for firmware info, questions, and releases. At least for newer phones. I have been on the Nexus 6 for a few months now and I visit the ROMS and Devs Google+ pages just as much as their XDA threads.
Hell, just yesterday I saw a build of Pure Nexus for Tuna posted.
And an FYI for others visiting this thread, If you click the link in the OP, that Dev has released newer versions of it which are listed out on the side. He seems to be updating it pretty well.
I think the dev is @voidz777
DU is just want I want in a ROM, it has SuperSU bundled, dev options already on, loads of tweak options and several features from other roms like the choice of Slim recents or OmniSwitch.
Unfortunately, I just noticed I'm not getting any mobile data, which is a bit of a bummer!

and abc 1st+ 1st+ 1st+ to @voidz777 for building and posting these links .
I've just installed the purenexus with open gapps nano package and have everything restored and I just have to say
this is the fastest and smoothest my device has ever ran . It's up and going flawlessly on my Toroplus , data and telephony work like a champ . I absolutely love the layout and the hamburger menu in settings . I would like to follow you on google+ @voidz777 . I'm a good logger and can get you on a logcat if you ever need me to . I will check everything like gps , etc but so far it's perfect . Do you have a g+ page where I can find you and whatever projects and builds you have going ? I can't thank you enough for this awesome rom !!!!!:good::good: .
For anyone reading if you have a toroplus I can confirm it runs great , fast , smooth and data works . I think this rom runs so well because this is a nexus as we all know and finally we have a rom thats practically native for it .
voidz777 do you have unnoficial xda thread hidden somewhere here ? just wondering if I'm missing it somehow .

I just try format f2fs for /cache and /data. After installing your ROM, /cache returns back to ext4. But I think it doesn't matter. The ROM is smooth regardless f2fs.
Can't get my f2fs /data and /cache toro to install any of these. They are, of course, not built for toro, so I have no complaint at all. I was just curious to see if I could install them.
I'm a bit confused. What exactly is dirty unicorn(could not find a FHQ only blog posts from current status and that they moved to asop)..
And how much ram does it have? The rom i'm using now has 0,93GB ram.
Always got 'pea pea' sound

I grabbed DU for Tuna to put under the gun (replace/upgrade from Unlegacy 7.1.0 - the only other N-based firmware I am aware of for either maguro OR toro, let alone any variant of tuna).
First boot - YOW! The boot animation is B-R-I-G-H-T - brighter (and longer) than that for OmniROM. (Contrast that with Unlegacy - which has NO first-boot animation whatever.) Unless it develops a case of stiction, I won't count that against it (that was, in fact, my sole ding against Omni 6 - the animation DID develop "stiction").
Now I'm through the animation, and in the second part of startup ("Android is starting") - the icons are crisp; in fact, so is the background (courtesy of Tapet, which I had installed prior). The very reason WHY I installed Tapet is because I love the Material Design backgrounds (which are not unique to Android, though they started there; I've seen them in Linux distributions - notably Ubuntu-based Linux distros, in addition to Android). From what I am seeing, Tapet+DU = win (just for the clarity of the icons and display). Another surprise is that it actually IS using more mobile data than Unlegacy - a bit of a surprise there, especially with my router literally at my right elbow. (Does DU prefer mobile data over wi-fi for some reason? I'm merely asking as that can be a problem where mobile data is NOT AYCE - and it isn't for me; I'd prefer to use wi-fi compared to mobile data - for cost reasons.)
Okay - I got it running; however, I could not install it clean, as it kept taking out the AOSP Keyboard part of GApps. Amusingly, a pour-over AOSP 7.1 worked wonders; I only needed to re-root it. Everything works, and I've had a ball with the tweaks (little stuff, like the carrier-notification area - mine actually now says Tracfone - my MVNO; MVNOs don't advertise), smaller fonts, etc. Pixel Launcher works from the get-go (with the GN Launcher as its backup), and I've added Substratum for themery (and the ONLY reason I added it is because it also supports Pixel Launcher along with most third-party launchers). Yes - I do believe PL's gonna grow on me. (Actually, the PL/PN tag-team reminds me a LOT of the early days of (don't laugh!) Stardock's Object Desktop for Windows - and the two play off each other quite a bit.)
I wonder what the difference is between the Dirty Unicorn mentioned here and PureNexus which I came across on another thread and have installed OK with Pico Gapps (purenexus_tuna-7.1.1-20170107-HOMEMADE.zip) and where that ROM can lead or is it a semi-dead end?
Regardless, the Galaxy Nexus performance improved considerably over CM 13, no doubt owing to approximately 80MB more free system, so it's fun to use again

The two ROMs don't differ much (understandably, since they have developers in common); in fact, this PN variant is DU-based - in terms of their N sorts, it's primarily that PureNexus includes PixelLauncher and some extra customization features that DU lacks. Both are lighter than CM13 - which shocked the heck outta me, since CM13 is based on MM, while both DU and PN are not only N-based, but 7.1.1-based in their latest iterations - isn't MM supposed to be lighter than N? (Because PN is based on DU, eventually (though not simultaneously) PN for tuna gets the updates DU does - the latest DU for Tuna includes the March updates, which the current PN for Tuna hasn't gotten yet. Unfortunately, it looks like PL is getting the boot from PN (despite my not having an issue using it) - is there an alternative way of putting it back?
