** Oppo Find 7 Yellow Tint (towards the bottom edge of the phones screen) **
Oppo China have made an official statement over customer concerns that the screen on the Find 7 and Find 7a has a yellowing issue.
Customers in China have been complaining to Oppo about yellowing Oppo Find 7 screens for weeks and now with many customers complaining that the issues are due to faults in the phone, Oppo have finally made an official statement concerning the matter.
According to Oppo their are two issues which are concerning Oppo Find 7 owners. The first is that many owners of the Find 7a have found the screen to appear more yellow along the bottom edge of the phone. Oppo claim the reason for this is due to more intense light in this area meaning the light does not display uniformly across the panel and are offering to test (and if necessary) replace phones.
The second issue affects the Oppo Find 7 (2K model) with customers complaining that the colours on the screen are more yellow and less realistic than those on the Find 7a. Oppo have said that they have released a software update which fixes this.
Those of you that seem to be affected by this issue.
Do go about posting the build date of your phone, so we can repository on which builds are affected :good:

More power to Oppo.
I don't have the yellow tint issue but very happy that Oppo is listening. Makes my job recommending this phone to friends a lot easier. My only bug is the touch sensitivity of the keyboard input. Getting a llot of double letters.

I really do hope they sort out all the bugs. This will be the next device I go out and purchase. It's a great device, especially with the 3000mah battery.
7A for me. All the those extra pixels will eat up my battery

Agree. The only thing I'll be replacing is the battery, once everything settles. The 7a is truly a remarkable phone. And this is coming from an ex HTC fanboy.

Agreed.
The 7A costs around £330 which is a bargain compaired to the s5 and HTC one M8 £500+
The oneplus one is almost impossible to buy right now. The speakers on the device have been described as weak, and low.
As a brand I would rather trust oppo

HTC can take a running jump, as far as I'm concerned. I'm tired of being an apologist for their ultra pixel nonsense.

Agreed. They should have learnt the first time.
Ultra pixel flopped badly, no way in the 21st century will a 4mp camera beat 12mp camera.
HTC Sensation purchased - one month later (WiFi death grip reported)
HTC one X purchased after a year - same again later reported to have the same WiFi issue.
Cursed.
Silly question I know but where do I find the build date of my phone?
Also do oppo use seperate batch numbers and if so where do I find it.

So you have yellow tint or not? Mine is 2014.04.27. No tint.
Yes. Lower 10 to 15mm of screen.
Tried burn in at full brightness for a couple of hours
with no change to screen. I only notice it on mainly
white screens but it dose not bother me.

I had the yellow tint on HTC One X ages ago. If you pressed on it, it would go away but it came back when you let go. Might be a similar thing happening here, but not when it's brand new.
Mine was build date 2014-04-23 and have the tint. I sent it back and wait Now for a replacement
One user on G+ have a new one device with build date 2014-05-19 and have the tint too

I really don't notice the yellow tint on my 7a. However it seems majority of you folks do experience this issue.

Yeah neither do I.
I also think it may be because of the capacitive buttons backlight as I think I am seeing the yellow portion
of the screen getting slightly darker when the buttons are backlit.

I know what you mean. I had to send in my butterfly s to change the camera. No phone for two weeks and had to use a dumb phone. Couldn't even send an sms on it. Smartphones really have become an integral part of our lives.
My yellow tint has gone away! I play a lot of games so the phone has heated up a bit a few times... Maybe that fixed it?
Sent from my Find7a using Tapatalk
I've just got a reply from OppoStyle Europe and they said, that "the new batches are 100% guarantee against the yellow tint issue" I'll send mine back tomorrow... If OPPO really fixed it, the Find 7a would be just the perfect phone.

Hi,
I know there are number of threads about the problems of HTC One X and sorry for creating another one.
But I want to know about people who has been using it for more than couple of weeks (because this problem comes after using it for a while) and have not had the wifi issue.
So if you have been using it for more than couple of weeks, could you please share your wifi experience and also the phone version number, which is the first five digits of the serial number (HTxx, SHxx), so we can see if this is a problem only found in earlier stock and whether HTC has fixed the problem
Update: I added a poll. If you can vote your choice we can all see how much of the HOX is actually giving problems.
Thank you.
Had my first one for 3 weeks before a yellow spot appeared and I had to return it. Wifi and everything else was fine. HT24.

I have had my HOX since release, serial number: HT23X. The only issue I can think of is when coming back to a wifi area I occasionally have to unlock the phone before it connects.
one more thread?
my third SH248 is built like a rock, still as pristine as it was on day one, over a month running now and abusing the F&[email protected] out of it
@h00py no HOX will develop yellow spots unless the screen has a defect in lamination

I meant apart from the screen having a yellow spot everything else was fine. The screen definitely had a lamination problem defect thing.
Oh and my SH24 feels like a much better build. My only problem is that it has one of the white screens

but yes if i had to choose yellow it is but its not a in anyway a deal breaker

I have the HT23 (since the release), and almost no problems so far.
I only have a rare issue of the phone booting when it's turned off while charging.
had my HOX since launch day. no problems!!
dropped it after two weeks and smashed the screen.
before dropping, the screen flickered a little. after repair, the screen flickered A LOT. to the point where whatever colour, brightness etc you could see it. software 1.29.xxx.11 fixed it - no flicker what so ever!!!
I also have a flawless one, no screen flicker,no yellow spots or anything
Wow.
I didnt expect to hear from so many positive HOX users since I have been consistently hearing about peoples complaints of the HOX.
Thank you for the reply guys. It would be very helpful if you can mention the HW version number too.
First one developed yellow spot after two weeks, this replacement has no problems (other than slightly weak BT compared to my old Xperia).
Also this replacement runs a lot cooler than my old one. I think the yellow spot is partially caused by overheating so I'm hopeful that this new one doesn't develop any.

I got my One X on launch day in the UK, and not had a single issue with it.
One thing to remember is that the vast majority of the public will not actively praise something, yet those with issues will criticize it.
I was once told by some PR guru that those who have a negative experience will tell around 15 people about it, those who have a positive one will only tell around 3. With the advent of the internet and social media those numbers have escalated.
I've had my One X for about a week now. No issues whatsoever.
Hey,
Im interested in purchasing a HTC One X and would like to know if there are any issues or problems with the phone, what and why should I choose this phone over competing phones?
Thanks in advance

That was quite a read and looks promising, I do see some posts what are a bit of a second thought but I'm not sure if they're iphone fanboys.
- GPS?
- Wi-Fi?
- Screen Flickering? (Seen this one quite a few times on the internet)
- Overheating (Seen this one a lot too)

Hi. I have had iphone 3gs, iphone 4, iphone 4s, galaxy s2 and now HOX and it is the best I of all those (it was kind of lousy at software at the start , laggy and awful battery) but the recent upgrades have made it super smooth and very decent battery wise. Hands down has the best screen ever, easily beating the Galaxy S3 and beating the iphone 4s by a hair (better whites IMHO). The phone is super smooth, screen is AMAZING, gps works great, is stylish.
However, make sure you can easily return your phone in case some of these show up :
- Weak wifi signal, know production issue on early batches, it is a design flaw.
- Yellow spots on screen
- Flickering on screen
I think those are the most common issues you might face. If you think a return/exchange will be difficult, I would advise you buy the SHS3 or iphone 5.
What potential issues (that has not been mentioned already on the board) would you like to have mentioned to suffice your need?

True but with some devices there are issues what plague the entire model and I'd rather avoid phones which are bug happy.

Thank you very much for your lovely reply, the yellow spots and flickering wouldn't bother me that much but a weak-wifi would be a problem as I'd be using wi-fi a hell of a lot, however you mention it was in early batches so I would assume it wouldn't be the case in a newly purchased one but yeah warranty returns/exchanges would be fine so I could get them resolved fairly easy.
You might of just convinced me to buy a HTC One X

I think all issues software wise have been fixed with the 2.17 update, the only thing that's left ,I mean if you develop the fault, is Wi-Fi signal for me it got weaker couple of metres from modem and the gap that the screen has where dust is gathering,I send it to repair , should get to repair center today, believe me or not I had 4 hoxes , all were faulty which pissed me off big time , so switched to gs3 but missed the hox after 1 month ,so I bought another one and guess what ? It has the issues mentioned above ,I like to think that I'm unlucky but I think the problems with hox are widespread and HTC should have done the descent thing and issue a recall

The dust issue wouldn't be a problem at all for me, if it got severe enough I'd open it up myself and clean it out. I have a few spare Void stickers laying around but yeah a lot of fixes seemed to come with the 2.17 update by a lot of peoples feedback.
My next thing to find and decide is what tablet should I get? I might try my luck with a Windows 8 RT Tablet because the ASUS Transformer TF700 (Infinity) seems to have it's only array of issues which are really really putting me off, I already had a TF201 what was fault crazy.
I personally wished that i had bought an S3/Note2/nexus-phone now, latest JB Sense roms are only available for certain devices with specific CIDs, others with CIDS not on the list will have to wait for the official update.
Screen:
Brilliant, bright, clear & solid

I run at the lowest setting to save battery -_-
I have a screen protector on mines after scratches showed up, so it doesn't feel as silky smooth.
Battery:
Poor.. with careful management you can get good results but that kind of defeats the purpose of having a top end device right?
me:
I carry an external usb charger now, only viable solution for days when you need to have your phone run all day and more.
Storage:
I can live with the ~28GB usable space but who doesn't want more? microsd would be awesome.
If my phone dies (my previous desire just started having the 7 vibrate problem/dead mobo problem) there's absolutely no easy way to recover the data.
Sending it off to HTC will only result in the device getting repaired/wiped + charge for having it rooted right?
me:
dropbox sync/regular backups
..what are the benefits of rooting again?

I dont have wifi problems since my router is on ground level and i live on seccond flor i still have 2 solid bars without speed drops, dont have dust issues too. But if you happen to have something like that trust me you wont be opening it since ih has unibody without screews. You must unglue it wich is not easy task. All that is covered in waranty if it does happen. And jellybean comes soon to and trust me it runns lot better than on s3 . since i have acces to both phones. And for tablets i must say , dont go for windows. Android is much better and i think apps are better.

No problem, good luck with it! It is an amazing phone, after 6 months of having it I would say it is the best one I have ever had. It takes amazing photos too.
I have discovered one thing with Android phones, you need to work a little to get the most of them, customize them the way you like, do a little research to optimize its speed and battery, nothing out of this world but thats why I always end up recommending the iphone to my non-techie friends and family. I remember how much I hated my SGS2 at first and how I could not let go of it before I sold it!
One last piece of advise with the HOX though, do get a case for it that protect the screen edges, I dropped mine and because the glass goes to the edges it broke easily and getting a replacement screen is very time consuming!

It is a stupid design flaw, I opened mine and repaired it in 10 min (the wifi antenna needs to be lifted up a little). However, I dont recommend doing that . I did it only as a last recourse as I am out of warranty and there is no HTC service center in my country.
Apparently this has been fixed on recent batches. However looks like the old damaged batches are still plentiful and are still being sold.

All those points are valid kenny.
I don't have a problem with storage as I only need it for photos and a little for music, heck I'd be fine with 8GB, this is huge for me.
Keeping the screen at low brightness (even at 0%) isn't a huge deal to me because the One X's screen seems to be quite a bit brighter than say the one on iPhone 4S (I remember seeing that in a tech article/YouTube video). Which means it'll still look beautiful regardless of how low you set the brightness (and upping it a bit when exposed to direct sunlight won't be a huge deal for the battery).
As for the battery - seeing as how this charming device wants you to keep using it - it leaves a lot to be desired:
The bad:
-it's non-removable; this fact alone scares me to this day...after a year or two it might become unusable and I'm not sure I'll be able to replace it anywhere in my country
-you won't get more than 4hrs screen-on time if you keep switching the apps and menus, browse the internet or play games
-when you know that the battery will seldom last over a day if you use the phone, you'll never feel a lot like gaming, which just halves the battery life
The good:
-reading on the One X, which is simply a lovely experience at 312 dpi, is quite possible for 6 hours while making a few calls and sending a few texts, and having your battery last through the day
-the stand-by time is impressive
-phone calls and music don't seem to use up a lot of juice on this phone at all
One more thing to note is that although this phone is a beauty without a match, it is slippery as hell and without a case, you're bound to drop it sooner or later, and then it will most likely shatter. Personally, I take the case off when I'm home and hold it carefully, and put it back on when I go outside.
I have recently returned my Find 7a for a refund due to the 'yellow screen' issue and wonder what experience people have had with returning their phones to Oppo.
I find their Customer Service pretty slow to respond, but are generally good when they do. I sent mine back on 23rd May and not heard since, so wonder if anyone has managed to get a replacement, or a refund and if so how long it took?
I also send mine back on 23.5 (from germany), delivered on 27.5.
Yesterday i ask, about the next step.
Today i get this answer from Oppo:
>I would like to inform you that we are now able confirm the arrival of your device.
>However, we regret to let you know that the Find 7a is currently out of stock
> in Midnight, therefore we are unable to send the replacement right away.
>We would like to offer you two options; you may wait for new stock to
>arrive which will take a few weeks, we have the White instock
> or request refund for your order so once
>we have it in stock you can place a new order.
Are you both the original buyers, I've got mine off eBay and device seems to have screen sensitivity problems, misinterpreting between swipes and taps, I'm wondering if they'll replace it?

This was a bug but has been fixed by update 0530. If you haven't got it yet, try changing touch and hold delay to medium or long in accessibility setting. The problem will go away.

No, i have buy it from first purchaser. When i read the warranty right, only the second year of warranty is only for the first purchaser.
My "new" is now in shipping status, but now i read from other that the dont fix the yellow tint display... but iam wait and see when my was arriving.
When it has the same faulty display iam send it back agin and then i want back the money.
I've got touch screen issue it's very annoying. What's yellow tint?
I've had mine for a month but want to return due to touch issues and battery drain, it sucks.

The yellow tint is something that many users are noticing. The bottom portion of the display has a yellow tint to it. Most users that notice the yellow tint say that's it's most noticeable it the bottom left. It seems like most, if not all, phones are affected with the yellow tint to varying degrees. Oppo has stated publicly that it is a backlight issue and that it will be resolved. However users who have received replacement phones are still reporting a yellow tint. As your touch screen and battery issues, those are most likely software related. If you want to know for sure flash Gummy or OmniRom. To test the touch screen go into developer options and check the "Show pointer location" option. Drag your finger all over the screen. If your touch input is lost then the trail will stop and start anew. I would consider waiting to have your unit replaced. People who just got a replacement from a new batch are still reporting display issues. If you can't perceive the yellow tint then you are one of the lucky ones. I sent my back for the yellow tint and my replacement is on it's way back. I will post to this thread when I receive it.
I send back my first device with the yellow tint, the new one (build 19.05.14) comes last week and it was worse then the first one.
The picture is from my first device, please notice that my camera wasnt good enough and in reality it was more visible as you see on the picture
My Oppo find 7a was an ebay buy - and man o man - It had all sorts of troubles - auto-reboots, bluetooth issues, screen sensitivity issues - ghost taps - and yellow screen. I had to file ebay claim to return it.
Is build quality that bad?
I was excited about this phone, but after reading through all the problems in this thread i'm concerned.
Would you guys still recommend this device ?
I absolutely do not recommend this telephone there is nothing that you cannot do with any cyanogen mod enabled devicewhat additionally the quality control has been horrible, save some money and get a note 2 or 3 if you want hd
I can recommend it but agree that main steamer might want to stick to different devices due to the stock experience being quite a bumpy ride for newcomer to the whole flashing scene.
I do not recommend this device becauseeee
1- Compare to the average price i.e. 450 give or take 25 bucks - you can get a T-Mo Note 3 - which is a much more capable device.
2- The quality issues on this device are atrocious.
3- The return experience is unpleasant.
4 - This device is unlikely to get as much support and accessories as Note 3 is. The only thing this device does better is "knock knock" on - which you can simulate with an S-Cover.
I am sorry - the quality of this phone as really turned me off

Thanks for your honest opinion. This device had so much potential, but obviously it's not quite there yet.
Had new htc 10 today before turning the device on i noticed lines running down the screen vertical under the light , but as ive seen this before with other devices i wasent to bothered.
Now im running my brightness at 60% because im not keen on the auto brightness settings and i think they make the screen look quite poor. The screen looks nice at 60% but that being said you can see these vertical lines running down the screen on white backgrounds .... anyone else noticed this ....... feel a bit underwhelmed with the screen at the moment due to this.
I had the exact same thing although now I can't see them anymore. It may have just been when I was sat out in the sun.
I literally just noticed them for the first time today. I have to hold it at an angle in bright light to see them though. I can see them when the screen is off too. I can see them if I really try on a white background, but if I don't look for them I don't see them.
I have these too - it looks like a digitizer thing.
Just been to a store. Store unit does not have it. Can we get more people reporting in please? Mine is the black unit, UK..
--- Or it might ----
I am not certain. Can we have more users confirm existence or not of it?
Just got out of a three store. Put my unit to the demo one side by side. Demo one did not have it. Manufacturers flaw. Mine is going back to HTC uk
Some HTC 10 users reported this issue is about sharp panel, the other one tianma doesn't have these lines

Is there another thread or post where I can monitor this discussion?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3370972
BTW thread is really long
an issue
Hi all, this is definitely a real issue.. I got my HTC 10 in the UK after ordering from the HTC website, and immediately noticed the faint white lines running down the screen... its unacceptable.
I sent it back to HTC and its currently 'in repair' - the guy told me there have been no reported issues with the HTC 10 so far . I've since gone into O2 store on oxford street to have a look at the display model - that had the same problem as mine!! So I thought ok what the hell, its such a poor screen why have none of the reviewers been complaining about it. But then went into EE store in stratford today and their display model does NOT have the same problem.
So don't know whether its due to a faulty batch or different screen as people in the other thread are mentioning, but whatever it is, its pretty disappointing from HTC. you pay £500+ and get a crap screen after preorder... wheres the quality control!!

Exactly...
I think it also comes down to whichever colour you choose...The discussion in the thread above links to all sorts of issues with these panels - However, O2 does not ship the Htc 10. So I am not sure how exactly you saw that in their Oxford street?

yes you are right actually, it was carphone warehouse not o2 shop that I saw it in. It was the one behind selfridges near Bond Street. One of the frustrating aspects actually has been I couldn't find any shops with a working display model of the HTC 10 to compare my pre-ordered handset with. Mine (and the two I checked in shops) have all been the black model.
Usually, I don't really like topics like this.... But now I need your opinions, guys!
Accidentally smashed my op3 and now I need a new toy.
Already watched a massive amount of videos on YouTube about the razer phone. Love the style, the shape.
However, I'm still can't decide.
Razer or OP5T?
I'm waiting for your thoughts, opinions, etc.
Thanks in advance.
i had the razer phone i sent it back less than a week, dont get me wrong love the retro metallic build and speakers. but the software seems unfinished and non optimised. the screen as fluid as it is @ 120hz just cannot compare to the OP5T in vibrancy and the screen on the RP is just shockingly too dim (even the Nokia phones have brighter LCD Screens). the op5t just feels more polished and its software more snappy. I really REALLY REALLYYYYYYY wanted to like the Razer Phone, but OP5T just seems to me a much better overall package having used both. This is totes subjective of course ...
Gave away my s8 plus and got the Razer. Love it exept for the camera. Se what they will to when oreo hits. But If I where you i would go with 5T.

Yepp and still isn't any good in my opinion, sadly.
I've got both infront of me currently, struggling to decide.
Unfortunately the 5T is giving me a bit of trouble recently.
The others are right, the RP screen is absolutely darker than others, roughly 60% of the 5T brightness and colours can seem a little washed out due to AMOLED vs LCD.
Battery life isn't anything to shout about either really and don't get me started on the camera! jeez.
Lastly, and this might come as a shock, the 5T puts out more decibels than the razer phone, the last update really undermined the volume and now my 5T has about 15% more volume, not clearer of course, but yeh.
All that being said, the Razer phone is built well, and the 120hz screen is nice! I'm trying to justify the brightness by the fact that Razer are wanting to reduce burn in and prolong the life expectancy of the phone, I guess it's not too bad really.
I'm gonna keep using the razer and sell the one I like the least after a week. Don't get me started on the camera or should I say "potato".
The one thing I don't like about the display is that it is "sunken". Nowadays most displays the glass and the picture are together, like you're literally touching the pictures. But on the Razer, you can tell that the picture is below the glass, which is weird as I haven't seen that in phones in the past 3 to 4 years at least. Not sure if I explained that correctly, but that's a con to me. I think mkhbd mentioned this in the preview video
I'm thinking about buy the phone to replace my LG V10 battery life pretty much bad on it and LG pressing trying me to buy a battery for it but they not selling it them from the website

LCD screens don't burn in. That's pretty much an AMOLED trait. The low brightness is a consequence of the 120hz technology.
after all the issues i've had with the Razer from the moment it went live to buy and now loosing a SE for a standard edition (currently using a wileyfox while the RMA process is happening) I considering selling mine on to get a different phone too.
The OP5T was on my radar as a replacement but if i'm honest I don't trust the company anymore, after the OP5 (which I had before the Razer) and it's hardware issues and OP halting the manufacturing of it so quickly so no one could buy anymore screamed of a new one with the hardware issues fixed and on top of that then there's the personal info they were taking it was the final straw and I sold the OP, of course I cuold have flashed a custom ROM onto it but i'm kinda done with that whole thing these days myself.
if you're set on the two devices it's a hard call. if you don't mind the OP personal info thing and never got burnt from them before (grant that little bit there is completely personal to me) then go for the OP5T, it'll have fantastic custom ROM support too if that's something you want.
my personal other option was the Essential Phone which tbh I think i'll get instead.

Thanks for sharing your opinion. I was thinking about the Essential phone, too.... But impossible to buy it in the EU(legally)
It is now 99%, that I go for the op5t.

you can get amazon US to ship you one which is what my plans are when I get the Razer phone back and sell it on, but yeah overall as of right now the OP5T has the better experience (other than sound quality of course)

To be honest the phone looks amazing, however there is no community (especially here at xda) at all.

You're right the development portion of the device is lacking on here but the company do bi weekly ask me anything on the subreddit so they're very vocal. If I'm honest the lack of support imo is because of the A/B partition (something the razer has) and the lack of sales due to it costing so much on release. Now it's went down and essential are implementing project treble it might get better via custom ROMs
But again that's not very important to me anymore.

No problem. I think we can all agree that the Razer's screen is inferior to the 5T's screen in every way except the refresh rate.

I couldn't agree more. Yet every time I go into a store and play with one of the new iPads, I nearly pull the trigger for that 120hz display. I think if it was at least brighter, there would be no hesitation.
No way I can view 400 nits outside in a Texas summer, though.
