Is there a decent keyboard out there that's much like the keyboard Motorola used in 4.1? I can't find an equivalent I really like.
Or, even better, is there an .apk we can pull and use?
Download Google Keyboard... It's the same thing. What the Razr used was an AOSP keyboard, which you can get through FDroid. If you like the blue color scheme or don't like Google Keyboard's swiping, you can turn that off.

I don't have an issue with the color scheme, and I know I can turn off the swiping. The thing is, I've gotten extremely used to the key size and layout of the JB keyboard, and Google Keyboard (which this OTA's AOSP keyboard appears to match exactly) feels a bit cramped by comparison. It makes a big difference.
Bump. Anyone mind checking for and pulling an .apk for the JB AOSP keyboard?

Sorry Strife, I can't help you, but I'm in the same boat as you. I much preferred the old keyboard (seems smaller now in KitKat). The old keyboard had a more satisfying heptic feedback as well.
I haven't taken the KK OTA yet. For those of you that did, is the Swype keyboard with the optional arrow keys still available like it has always had? Or is it gone? Thanks

Swype is no longer included, so you'll have to buy a copy. :/ (If you don't mind, would you take some screenshots of the JB stock keyboard for comparison?)
Attached are some screenshots of the default keyboard in the OTA, as well as a Jellybean-keyboard clone I found.
Thanks for the reply. Man bummer no more Swype, I really like it over the rest. I'll submit the screen shots fir you in a little bit.

Still like my Swype. I'll be holding off from flashing the OTA for a while.

I have an idea. I have things i love about Swype and hate about it. My idea is this. I LOVE the standard keybard in Sense... But i also LOVE swyping. I love the voice to text in standard keyboard, HATE that swype uses actions to do it. I love the distance of the keys and feel of the Sense keyboard.. not so much swype.
Heres my idea. Take JUST the Swyping mechanism of Swype, and insinuate it into the Sense keyboard. I want a keyboard that LOOKS JUST LIKE my sense keyboard with the same tactile and audio feedback, same settings, BUT i want to be able to swype with it.
So it comes down to
1: Is this possible? (Has to be)
2: What will it take to get this done and on the forum?
Any feedback would be great... But id love to get this project started asap.
Im on a tmobile G2 Running Virtuous Sense v1.02. Lets make this work!
My idea is this.

But slide it doesnt have some features that Stock Sense Keyboard has, and it doesnt look like Sense Stock Keyboard.
My idea is... Some how editing the Stock Sense Keyboards APK to insinsuate the Swype, Or Slide it Mechanism into it. Idk, Blending the two together if you will. I want my keyboard to look EXACTLY like u see above... and i want to be able to swype with it with a black line as the trace.
I Know somebody can help me.
I don't think merging the 2 keyboards together would work, I imagine the developers of swype wouldn't be to happy if someone tore the keyboard apart and used the code in another keyboard.
The new HTC Doubleshot rom has a swype style included so this may be what you are are looking for.
You can make swype look like the htc keyboard have a look here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=838269

Anybody find another dialer that works with our phones? I'm not a huge fan of the stock dialer.

Dialer One is pretty bad ass.

Trying out Touchpal Dialer by Cootek... I used Dialer One on my Nexus One and got on well with it but want something with a crisper UI...
+1 for Touchpal dialer.

ended up dumping touchpal dialer... Watchdog was flagging it as hi CPU even when the phone was idle... trying out GoDialerEX right now but have a feeling i'll find myself back with DialerOne... stock dialer is seriously lacking! why cant i click a pic of a contact after typing a few letters of their name and get actiuons like SMS, call, Open contact etc. the way I can with every other dialer??
Same about TouchPal... liked the crispness of the UI

+1 on this one, most of the apps they have are very good and user friendly.
go dialer/contacts is the best out, a lot of options/themes and stable
yup tried all 3 mentioned here and liked go dialer/contacts the most clean with options and had the functions I liked.

Yup... I'm running GoDialer EX at 200 as opposed to the stock 240 density and all is well... The green "call" butten is a tiny bit stretched but its tons better than the way the stock dialer looks at 200
Anyone know of a dialer like the one is sense...it was great at connecting pictures to Facebook and still only showing my Google contacts

I recently upgraded to the Galaxy S3. I loaded on my favorite keyboard, Shapewriter, and was disappointed to see that it didn't fill the screen like it did on my other phones. Is there anyway to make it take up the whole bottom of the screen like all the other keyboards? Thanks for any help.

send a note to the developer... they might not be aware and just need to edit it for the larger screen...

It's no longer supported. I have a backup of the APK that I use to install it with. It's not even on the Play anymore as far as I know.

That's clearly not supported on 720p screen, never heard of the keyboard but if you find people that likes it a developer might be able to help

If I recall, Shapewriter was bought by Nuance and incorporated into the FlexT9 keyboard and now those features are incorporated into the latest Swype beta...
So maybe try that?
You can always lower your dpi

I downloaded the Swype Beta. It's going to take some getting used to, but overall I think it's better than the default Samsung keyboard.
I prefer shape writer over all the rest I've tested. The automatic addition of a space after a period (.),saves hitting the space bar more often than deleting the space. The ability to retroactively capitalizewith one key does not require retype. The selection of typed words with one touch, allows the original selection list to be recalled.
I can't believe they did this all two years ago. Nuance now owns shapewriter.
I'm not a big fan of the wasted space on the Galaxy Note II's HUGE screen. A 4x4 grid is pretty ridiculous. I use the 5x4 stock launcher Xposed module to alleviate that a bit.
But whenever I open a program like Gallery or Line, the 5th row is shifted down so that it overlaps with the Dock icons. Anyone else had this problem? Is it a DPI thing? Has there been an update to that launcher module? You can see what I mean in the attachments below.

I've since discovered that it's not necessarily the app I open, but when the screen rotates to landscape and then back to portrait.
It seems like a DPI thing. I've tried adjusting DPI settings with the Xposed App Settings module, but it doesn't seem to resolve the problem. Has no one else faced this issue? I'd appreciate any setting suggestions or general pointers in the right direction.
Yes, got the same issue on my note 2. Has anyone got any solution? or is there any other way to get more rows on touchwiz?

Thanks, sawdoctor! Just a quick question: if I want to restore the sec2launcher.apk, is a Root Explorer zip file sufficient? Any drawbacks to this mod? Is it still compatible with simplistic?

You can just flash back the stock launcher if you want but personally I think nova launcher is the best you can have any layout you want.

Hello, I really hope someone can help me with that.. I am a new Android user and got the Note 7.. I can't add the standard Emoji keyboard which can be found on Whatsapp or iOS in general. Is there any way that I can add the exact keyboard on my Note 7 so I can use it system wide?
There are plenty of different keyboards to be found in the Play Store. Pick one, install it, and try it out.
You may not be able to find an exact copy of the iOS keyboard, though.

All keyboards use the system emoji, if you want to change it system-wide you need root.
emoji switcher app is pretty good!
Thank you guys for your propositions.. But I do not want to root my phone in order not to loose the Guarantee.. Got it from the official local Samsung store.. I guess there is no decent Emoji on Android yet.. :/

I never owned iOS, so idk if could help. But the emoji icon are only difference on the keyboard.
Facebook for example, the emoji on iPhone and Android are different, but the typed emoji that will be shown on the app will be the same.
Try Google keyboard

Yo, try using the Textra messaging app (really smooth) and downloading the iphone emoji plugin! you get to see and use all of the iphone emojis including each variation of emoji
