Sitting here waiting on the ups man with my note 3, so this will be where I part ways with the gs4 development forums. It's slowed here, just a little, lately, but thanks to a few good devs that stuck around, it's been a blast. I can definitely say I'm hooked more, now, on smaller mods than flashing complete roms, so hopefully there's as much to do on the note 3 forums as there is here.

I got my s3 a few months ago but i never really did anything with it. So yesterday i decided to root it and install CM10 but now i'm not use to the menu because i got used to TouchWiz ..

Welcome to xda ...its a great resource for android but there are a few things you need to be aware of...if you ask a question in the development forums that's already been asked or answered...be prepared to get reamed by someone...as such learn to use the search function effectively...always read through the op and thread posts thoroughly...also be sure to post in the correct sections.. lastly get to know adb before you mess with your phone...other than that the community is pretty chill...just that at times it can be overwhelming to new comers...as long as you do your research though and follow the rules put forth by the mods and rom devs you should be fine.

I've been lurking off and on for a long time lol, realized I joined the forums in June of 2008 but just within the last few days posted anything. I got a Galaxy S II almost a year ago and have been a part of the XDA community ever since. It was my first android phone and my first smartphone. All of you guys in this section of XDA have been absolutely fantastic. All of things you guys have contributed, like roms, tweaks, apps, themes, scripts, etc that made my phone amazing. And all of the times you guys have been there to help me will always be appreciated. You guys made me love android and XDA. I've learned so much about it over the past year, and have even contributed some things to the development section with success. But it's time to move on. I've sold my phone to buy the new Nexus 4, which is amazing guys. I love it. Great upgrade and a great price. So, I will unfortunately no longer be part of this section of XDA anymore. But before I leave, I just want to say Thank You. Thank You, the XDA Community, for everything. There were times I wanted to kill all of you for complaining and staying off of topic in threads, (lol) but I still love all of you. We'll see you around man, good luck. Nexus 4 board is gaining a valuable member! I imagine we're going to lose a few more, myself included. My 8X shipped today, XBox music being the deciding factor. I have plans to pick up the Nexus 4 sometime after the first of the year though.

Is it just me, or do you guys find yourself checking out other carrier galaxy note 2 forums here on xda. Honestly I find it annoying jumping back and forth between the tmobile, verizon, att and sprint forums.I know there are subtle differences between the variants software wise but is it honestly enough to create 4 different forums? Alot of the tips and tricks, problems and questions being ask in these forums are very useful and relevant to other carrier galaxy note 2's. I just wanted to get poll and see if everyone else kinda feels the same way. If so, maybe we can get xda to consolidate...

That would be something the developer in the development section would point out. The same could be said of people downloading the internationals versions of roms on US devices or vice versa. When i had my g2 there were plenty of roms that were out for the US device that could not be used on the international (z) device. We still however had a combined forum since in most cases the devices were exactly the same. Same courtesy should be extended to this device.
I too think it's better to have different forums for different carriers even though the phone itself are very similar. It make it easier for people to find out updates that is through the carriers only or roms

Can you believe that there are 7 separate forums for Note2 in XDA? I find myself typing "note" into the "Find Your Device..." field very often to see what models are available, and I actually sometimes visit AT&T sections. I don't bather visiting others because it's too cumbersome.
I think it is more like we should change the hierarchy of the forums; move (combine) all Note2 forums under the "Samsung Galaxy Note II" forum which is already there, but keep each variant (different models) into different sub-forums. We would have a separate dev sub-forum for each carrier plus a general dev sub-forum to cover universal matters, but a combined themes sub-forum, etc.

This makes it easy to navigate without too much clatter. We can also check the activity levels (i.e. post counts) of other Note's on one page.
Would be sweet if we had the choice to merge/collapse subforums of our own choosing for our own viewing pleasure. I know I'd merge the AT&T and T-Mo forums, so I'd view those as one for myself whereas someone else could view them separately.

Same here, why in the world do we have separate forums for these topics. They are basically the same phones. I myself find myself going back and forth between these forums, very annoying and also a good loss of creative potential by splitting folks up. Please merge them.

Merge them, put GSM dev, CDMA dev, then if you really want within those have the carrier sub-forums. The sub-forums would be for things like modems. Accessories forum is already shared, if they collapsed all LTE note 2 sections to one device it would make life easier and devs would not need to have 3 or more threads for multi-carrier ROMs.

That really shows the type of people that go through the forums. Once they installed their first 2 or 3 roms and kernels, and looked through 4 pages of android development, they feel they know everything. I really wish dj could leak that final Frosty rom update one day...

I agree. I was using Wicked for a long time and decided to give Frosty a try, and I loved it. I have been using it for a few weeks now and I also have great battery life with it. I will keep using it for a while. Hopefully DJ will come back.

I am saddened by what has gone down. I remember a time when post where constructive and not a pissing match. Unfortunately with more and more people come here and join the chances of this happening grows.
I know the frustration of seeing someone complain about something know to be issues or someone thinking it's a problem with the rom when no one else has issues. Just remember we where all noobs at one time or another and remember that one person that helped you out with something vs the person that flamed you for not knowing.

I'm seeing the same thing happening in other development threads, and my fear is that it's going to force the XDA mods to lock the entire site to developers only.

I was that at one point also, when the G1 came out and JesusFreke was making roms, and people had to use ADB to obtain root and be able to flash things. I learned since then and read and read and read. The problem now a days is that most don't care to read a little, or at all. Most of the questions asked in a thread are answered, or been discussed, or don't even belong in the dev section. This is extremely aggravating to the devs, or themers, when they right up a huge OP and no one uses it, and just clutters up their dev thread with useless questions and/or nonconstructive criticism. I don't blame him for quitting or locking the thread, if people feel it's at its prime, then leave it alone and don't touch it anymore. Most of the TouchWiz roms have the best version yet to come, or they came and went a while ago. Most of the mods they incorporated are flashable on your own, anyways. Thank him and respect decisions, or use one of the other 10+ TouchWiz roms.

Jesusfreke was the pioneer of modding for Android. Without him I believe that we would not be as far with android as devs, manufacturers, or even android its self.
Look at thouchwiz its self with the toggles in the notification Window. This came from cm. We the community can end up pushing for devs with true innovation to go back underground where their work is not seen in mass people, Google, or manufacturers. Then android may end up missing what could become greatness all for petty arguments. I follow one such dev in a private forum and it's a shame he was forced to by thing like this.
