Play Store Download Issues - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ok so I've had this same problem on the M7, and now I'm having the same issue on my M8. I'll post the screenshot of the issue I'm having. It happens on every Rom that I use. I mainly use ViperOne. But in order to test out the problem I flashed other roms as well and found the same problem. I've even done the play store fix that I found in a couple other threads and it still gives me the same issue. And I'm hooked up to WiFi majority of the time and still get the error. No matter if I'm on network or WiFi, the problem persists. Even tried different play store apks. If someone could lend me some knowledge on how to get rid of the problem, I'd be eternally grateful. It's a pain trying to update apps and it won't work because of the error. Screenshot attached. Thanks to all!!

Try the following (try turning off wifi and then re-enabling it before you try any of these to see if that helps)
1) Allow unknown sources in settings
if that doesn't work
2) delete the cache for the play store app
if that doesn't work
3) Uninstall playstore updates and reboot
Finally if all else fails - delete your google account - reboot and then add your account.

Google Play Store Problem

Hi guys, I'm making this thread because I had tried to ask for help in other related threads and not getting any solutions to this matter.
I have this problem since I bought my Samsung Galaxy W, I cannot complete a download in Google Play Store. Most of the downloads stuck halfway at *% and only small files like below than 300kb is able to download successfully and install on my phone.
After I started rooting my phone and install custom ROMs like CM9, I can download anything from the store. But recently the problem occur again, I flash back to stock but it is still not working.
I can download when I'm connected to my friend's Wifi or by using 3G. I have a friend who is using Samsung Galaxy SIII and having the same issue. I tried to google about my problem but all the resolved ones are for those who faced problems such as "Stuck at downloading.....", "Cannot download apps after paying...." etc.
I can confirm these problems don't have anything to do with mine. Is it that my home's internet have problem or is it something to do with google's servers?
Help.. Thanks
*Edit: From what I have remembered, the last time I was able to fix this problem is when I scan both my internal and external storage for error using Windows tools such as Error-Checking, Defragmentation and also Reformatting it. But when I do this for now, I get no results..
Need help badly~ T.T
No one knows how to fix this?
I think your internet connection problem
You should try another ISP
Should I contact my ISP and ask them to fix it? Because I found out that a lot of my friends also had the same problem. Some can download from play store but couldn't download from in-app updates or additional files. They also use the same ISP as me. So basically our ISP knows the problem and never want to fix it? Zz

Try to find another Internet connection if you don't always need it(eg MC Donalds), or maybe contact/change your ISP, last time I experienced this when I was using TMNET(ISP), but it's now solved after I used Singtel(ISP), good luck!

Facebook (build 132866) won't stop downloading

I get this notification that says it's downloading. But when I go to app info. It's from downloads instead of the Play Store. I don't know what it is. When I disable the app. Everything stops working; Play store, Chrome, Facebook, etc. I was just wondering if anyone else had this problem?

Did you try downloading a file with that name? Open up the download icon found in the app drawer and see whats downloading.

I didn't download anything. I noticed it on my way home. It initiated randomly. And it won't finish, or even stop. It isn't showing in the downloads either.
****edit
I found it in the downloads a couple hours after the problem started. I don't have a full solution, which sucks.

Might be it is sync ur gallery with fb photos. Uninstall app and reinstall.
I'm experiencing this exact problem, also initiated on its own. I uninstalled and reinstalled Facebook but that did not affect the perpetual downloading of this. Nor have several phone restarts, etc.

solution!!!
I don't know you already fix this problem or not.
I searched several site and finally got an answer for this problem.
Just connect WiFi and let it do whatever it want.
Before I found this, I tried several things;
1. restarted my phone
2. pulled out battery and put back
3. killed the process from task manager
4. removed FB account
5. removed FB app from my phone (actually, back to previous version) and update again
Non of these helped me ever!!!
Also, this problem is not device specific. (I realize it after googling it)
I mean various devices and locations had the same issue.
Anyway, good luck!!!

Thanks. Connecting it to wifi did allow it to finish the unending installation very quickly. That was annoying and I'd like to know why an update initiated on its own, seemingly from within the app and not through the Play store (I do not have any auto-updates allowed, especially for social media apps), and drained my battery while it looped an install process that was apparently constantly seeking a wifi signal to complete.
Thanks a lot!!

I started having this issue today on my Galaxy Tab 2. The only solution people found on different forums is ti turn on WiFi. It'll immediately start downloading and would get installed (Probably due to its size it does not want to be downloaded on 3G/4G). Although I don't feel very comfortable installing this, Does not feel very genuine to me.
Did any one else had this problem? or any issues after installing it?
I had to switch to Wifi about 3 or 4 times and then it finally downloaded. It tried to download all of last night and killed the battery. In the mean time my phone has switched to using Edge instead of 4g and no matter how many times I switch Airplane mode on/off or restart the phone I can't get my 4g back. Think it is just a local problem? I've got a S3 on T-mobile in Orange County, CA.

Play Store Download Errors

Yesterday I had some apps that had new updates on the play store, so I started to update them.
I started seeing one wouldn't go through because it was giving "Package file invalid". So I tried over WiFi and same issue.
Got home and looked at my two tablets (Nexus 7-2012 and asus tf101) and they were having similar issues with updates, but different apps. I was also even getting download error #497. Sometimes just trying over and over again would work but now it seems like some apps just wont go due to the errors.
I tried clearing the cache/data of play store and download manager as google suggests, but that did not help. I've tried to use google's contact us form but I type this lengthy description of my issue and it tells me that I need to type more... (probably a glitch in their contact us form...) So I cant get something sent to them.
My girlfriend just got the S4 for sprint yesterday and now she is having the same issue, some apps wont download due to invalid package.
Is anyone else having this issue? Any suggestions on what can be done? Anyone think this is a issue on google's end?
Also, of my devices only the tf101 is rooted at the moment. Had some issues where I had to do factory restore on my GS4 and haven't rooted it again yet, and nexus 7 I kept reverted back to stock to get official 4.3
If they're system apps use a root explorer and delete them and install them again (if they're available on the playstore) if they're not then install them delete data and cache and remove your account and launch playstore and sign in and it should fix it... Remember if u delete an app with a root explorer you have ti reboot for it to take effect... And also fix permissions...

ive also been having errors with this. im on revolt 8/6 build and using PA gaps. but i have also tried with normal gaps, and get the same. its funny because it only happens with certain apps, and the apps that have the error change everytime i flash a different gaps. And yes, it even happens on newly installed apps.
Though to fix, i just turn off wifi and use data, its inconvenient but its a workaround until the actual problem is identified

I dont think that will work because if it happening across multiple devices with and without root then I'm thinking it's a issue on Google's end. Plus my phone is not rooted anymore.

go to play store, open menu go to settings and there is an option for auto update. I believe the default is to update over wifi only.
I was reading something earlier tonight (after having problems with 10.2 unofficial and getting error 497 with every file I tried to download) that Google was having problems with a few different ISP's and the Play store connections. Some people with the Nexus 7 (2013) were getting this error straight out of the box. Updates sometimes worked via Mobile network, but WiFi would fail with an error code or say package invalid every time.

Yeah, I just saw some articles on it finally. Sounds like everyone is reporting the same issue no matter what version of play store etc.
Use a VPN. Apps that refuse to update on my Wi-Fi network seem to update or download successfully if I use something like Hideman or Hideninja. I've not had problems with either. I can't vouch for their security, but Play Store reviews seem mostly positive for each. I use Hideninja VPN because it's free without time restrictions whereas with Hideman, you're limited to 5 hours each week and the shortest length of time you can activate is a 1 hour block.

I had read about using a VPN over the weekend, just needed to find a app to use. Hideninja did the trick and my apps all updated finally.
The hardest part was trying to download hideninja... it wouldn't download on my phone haha but luckily I have helium on all my devices and its set up with my google drive so it thankfully downloaded on another device.

invalid package file

im getting invalid package file errors when trying to download Instagram from the market. ive researched and done all the suggested fixes i.e. clearing play store data google services framework data, cleared bothe the cache and the dalvik cache and im still getting these errors. my wife and i are both having this problem right now, she is running rooted stock and so am i. does anyone have any ideas? ive even don a full wipe and re flashed my rom and nothing has worked.i really dont care that I cant have it but my wife is getting irritated wich means im getting really annoyed. any help would be greatly appreciated.
if there are no more techniques i can use would someone be kind enough to send me the apk? thanks again.
EDIT: all is well found an apk file.
Mods you can delete this post if you need or want to PROBLEM SOLVED.
I'd like to add a little to this. I have experienced this more recently while trying to update my apps. The more commonly known techniques did not work for me as well. Everything from clearing cache in the app and through recovery, to a lesser known trick using the browser and the play store website.
I did find that when all else failed, I toggled my wifi off and used my data to download/update my apps and did not have the invalid package issue. A technique so simple, I had to chuckle because I flashed and re-flashed multiple roms and restores. I was getting so annoyed at the failure of my app download/upgrades. So this makes me think it might have something to do with google servers and my wifi connection, which is strange since it recently randomly started to happen.
Just a little of my thoughts with this ever annoying issue.
For future reference, if u can't find the apk, there's an app called hideman. Its a VPN app. Just install that, connect to the server thats displaying, go to the market and install the app giving u the error. All those other solutions didn't work for me either but with the hideman app it worked beautifully.

I tried that briefly. I personally don't trust it. Switching on my T-Mobile data worked best for me. Thanks for adding another option though.
I have tried all suggestions except using 3g or 4g. My tablet is wifi only, it does not have cell service. I also tried hideman vpn and still get error. I am trying to get lotus map app. Contacted them they only knew to clear catch and data. Any help would be appreciated.
This started happening on all three phones in my house. So im inclined to believe its a problem with the play store itself

Google Now Not Displaying Cards After Awhile

Does anyone have this issue? After about 60hrs of reboot Google Now just stops to display any cards and it is just blank with the google searchbar on top...
I have Google Now enabled and never had this issue before. Tried clearing cache and app data and that doesn't fix the issue. Only reboot helps. This is annoying. Any help is appreciated. I am running stock Android 4.3 (no root).
Thank you!

Ive had this happen before. I dont really know what causes it, it just fixes itself usually. I did, however, find that at one point I had both of my devices with Google Now and they had different settings enabled and it was messing up what was shown. That was a while ago and I think the settings sync now. But you never know. If you have two devices, try that. Also, you can try to clear the data for the app and see if it fixes it.
I have tried clearing the app data and that didn't do much. Still having the issue. I will check the settings on my tablet for Google Now, maybe you are right and this is what causes my problems. Thanks for the idea-will give it a try.
It's generally "normal" I think.
I really wish Google would give us more control over Now... Soon?

I'm also experiencing this "issue". I use Galaxy Note II and CarbonRom 1.8 here. Decided to search Google for this and found this thread.
I thought it was due to a lot of ROM flashing I was doing here, so maybe it eventually messed up my Google account info on servers and made my Google Now became empty some times, but I realized that probably it's some technical difficulties on Google Now server itself, since it's happening with more people.
Let's hope for an update to solve this. It's pretty annoying!

Did this issue get resolved for you? I have found the problem and I temporary fix.
The issue is related to the new Google play services 3.2..they changed location to use wifi as Android 4.3 has it on at all times.. This is to save power from using GpS.. Anyway if your not running 4.3 and have wifi on all the time your location based cards will not work...
The solution, downgrade to Google play services 3.1 Everything works great on 3.1..

This issue got solved by itself here, but thanks for the tip anyway!
By the way, I'm using 4.2 here and in fact I don't have wifi enabled all the time. Need to say also that Google Now in Brazil is not sooo much great, it does not have so many services, only the basic ones, so maybe it had something to do with Brazilian Google servers issues on that time.
