Yesterday I had some apps that had new updates on the play store, so I started to update them.
I started seeing one wouldn't go through because it was giving "Package file invalid". So I tried over WiFi and same issue.
Got home and looked at my two tablets (Nexus 7-2012 and asus tf101) and they were having similar issues with updates, but different apps. I was also even getting download error #497. Sometimes just trying over and over again would work but now it seems like some apps just wont go due to the errors.
I tried clearing the cache/data of play store and download manager as google suggests, but that did not help. I've tried to use google's contact us form but I type this lengthy description of my issue and it tells me that I need to type more... (probably a glitch in their contact us form...) So I cant get something sent to them.
My girlfriend just got the S4 for sprint yesterday and now she is having the same issue, some apps wont download due to invalid package.
Is anyone else having this issue? Any suggestions on what can be done? Anyone think this is a issue on google's end?
Also, of my devices only the tf101 is rooted at the moment. Had some issues where I had to do factory restore on my GS4 and haven't rooted it again yet, and nexus 7 I kept reverted back to stock to get official 4.3
If they're system apps use a root explorer and delete them and install them again (if they're available on the playstore) if they're not then install them delete data and cache and remove your account and launch playstore and sign in and it should fix it... Remember if u delete an app with a root explorer you have ti reboot for it to take effect... And also fix permissions...

ive also been having errors with this. im on revolt 8/6 build and using PA gaps. but i have also tried with normal gaps, and get the same. its funny because it only happens with certain apps, and the apps that have the error change everytime i flash a different gaps. And yes, it even happens on newly installed apps.
Though to fix, i just turn off wifi and use data, its inconvenient but its a workaround until the actual problem is identified

I dont think that will work because if it happening across multiple devices with and without root then I'm thinking it's a issue on Google's end. Plus my phone is not rooted anymore.

go to play store, open menu go to settings and there is an option for auto update. I believe the default is to update over wifi only.
I was reading something earlier tonight (after having problems with 10.2 unofficial and getting error 497 with every file I tried to download) that Google was having problems with a few different ISP's and the Play store connections. Some people with the Nexus 7 (2013) were getting this error straight out of the box. Updates sometimes worked via Mobile network, but WiFi would fail with an error code or say package invalid every time.

Yeah, I just saw some articles on it finally. Sounds like everyone is reporting the same issue no matter what version of play store etc.
Use a VPN. Apps that refuse to update on my Wi-Fi network seem to update or download successfully if I use something like Hideman or Hideninja. I've not had problems with either. I can't vouch for their security, but Play Store reviews seem mostly positive for each. I use Hideninja VPN because it's free without time restrictions whereas with Hideman, you're limited to 5 hours each week and the shortest length of time you can activate is a 1 hour block.

I had read about using a VPN over the weekend, just needed to find a app to use. Hideninja did the trick and my apps all updated finally.
The hardest part was trying to download hideninja... it wouldn't download on my phone haha but luckily I have helium on all my devices and its set up with my google drive so it thankfully downloaded on another device.

I didn't download anything. I noticed it on my way home. It initiated randomly. And it won't finish, or even stop. It isn't showing in the downloads either.

I found it in the downloads a couple hours after the problem started. I don't have a full solution, which sucks.

Might be it is sync ur gallery with fb photos. Uninstall app and reinstall.
I'm experiencing this exact problem, also initiated on its own. I uninstalled and reinstalled Facebook but that did not affect the perpetual downloading of this. Nor have several phone restarts, etc.

solution!!!
I don't know you already fix this problem or not.
I searched several site and finally got an answer for this problem.
Just connect WiFi and let it do whatever it want.
Before I found this, I tried several things;
1. restarted my phone
2. pulled out battery and put back
3. killed the process from task manager
4. removed FB account
5. removed FB app from my phone (actually, back to previous version) and update again
Non of these helped me ever!!!
Also, this problem is not device specific. (I realize it after googling it)
I mean various devices and locations had the same issue.
Anyway, good luck!!!

Thanks. Connecting it to wifi did allow it to finish the unending installation very quickly. That was annoying and I'd like to know why an update initiated on its own, seemingly from within the app and not through the Play store (I do not have any auto-updates allowed, especially for social media apps), and drained my battery while it looped an install process that was apparently constantly seeking a wifi signal to complete.
Thanks a lot!!

I started having this issue today on my Galaxy Tab 2. The only solution people found on different forums is ti turn on WiFi. It'll immediately start downloading and would get installed (Probably due to its size it does not want to be downloaded on 3G/4G). Although I don't feel very comfortable installing this, Does not feel very genuine to me.
Did any one else had this problem? or any issues after installing it?
I had to switch to Wifi about 3 or 4 times and then it finally downloaded. It tried to download all of last night and killed the battery. In the mean time my phone has switched to using Edge instead of 4g and no matter how many times I switch Airplane mode on/off or restart the phone I can't get my 4g back. Think it is just a local problem? I've got a S3 on T-mobile in Orange County, CA.
Hello,
Starting last week, some application on my phone started using too much mobile data. (3g/4g)..
The first time I noticed it, the application have used about 135Megabytes in downloads.. so I downloaded an app to monitor the data usage (Onavo Count) .. The app says that a "Market Downloader" is the application that's using the data.
I looked in every possible place on the phone for this market downloader but can't find it.. yet something is actually downloading and using my bandwidth without a warning or notification of any kind!!
THIS IS NOT AN ERROR IN SOME MONITORING APPLICATION - I WENT TO MY MOBILE SERVICE WEBSITE AND IT SHOWS I HAVE USED 375MB FOR THE MONTH.. my usual usage is 20-30MB over (3g/4g) as I use wifi almost always.
I have Sprint/Ting mobile service.. Samsung Galaxy S3-- Rooted with FreeGS3 JellyBean V3.00 installed.
The only option for now is to turn off the mobile data and only turn it on when I need to use it.. That's not a good solution.
Please help
Thank you
Is there no one who could help with this?

You have apps auto updating in the Play Store. They must DOWNLOAD the update from the servers before installing to your device. Disable auto app updates in the Play Store settings.

Thank you for your response. I have checked that before, everything is set to manual update. I have tried to eliminate as many possible things as I could before posting here. Also searching Google, it seems that many people are having the exact same issue I have and no solution is found, at least nothing on the websites.

Hi, have you find any solutions yet? I've been having this problem since last month and it's driving me crazy. I only have 1GB data limit, and market downloader just casually used more than half of it. I also did an observation where I found that market downloader downloaded about 4mb per second of unknown file. This is terrible...
I would say backup everything you need and then nuke your phone in recovery.
What may be the problem is that last that I have heard, freegs3 has not been updated to MD4. It could be downloading the update over and over but not showing up. I know people on android 4.2 cm or custom ROMs are having the same problem. Look up fotakill.apk (I think that is what it is called, if I find a link I will post it here). I think you can place that in system>apps and it stops it from downloading the update. To me I think that is what it is because the MD4 update was around 130-150 mb.

help Tap & Pay Setup Failed i reinstalled and contacted Google about iSSUE.. DOES ANYONE KNOW OF FIX?
So if within the Wallet app you goto "Settings" then "About" does it say "Tap and pay" "NfcPaymentSetupFailure: 11"?
If so, there are a number of people having that issue including me. I've filed tickets with Google but haven't gotten any solutions yet.
Wallet used to work for my device however a couple months back it stopped and the NFC part never started working again.
It says UNAVAILABLE (NFCPAYMENTSETUPFAILURE:1)
Mine says the same message. It means youre locked out from the secure element. You will never have tap and pay on that phone.
The only solution is to bring it to sprint, show them the problem, and tell them your secure element is broken.
Uninstall wallet updates and the message will day "secure element not responding E00"

Is this confirmed? Because Google Wallet support has stated nothing of this sort to me is my correspondence with them. Granted, I they did not ask about the info on the "About" screen, but I've been back and forth with them quite a bit and it's never come up.
Strange, because Wallet worked just prior to the last official update for me. No other changes -- did not change ROM, recovery, or anything else.

There's nothing quite like Google Wallet, but there a number of other mobile payment apps available -- Level Up, Wallet (Pay with Square), Paypal mobile app -- each had a relatively small install base as far as merchants go. Most merchants that use these services seem to be smaller cafés, etc.

I'm on cm10.2 nightly and this is what I did to get it to work. Go to app settings, go to wallet, force stop, clear data and cache, restart wallet app and set it up again, setup tap and pay.... It should work. It just worked for me.

Mine said the same and I was able to get it to work by doing the steps I mentioned.
This has not worked for me. I have tried reinstalling, with and without power cycles, including battery pulls, multiple times. I wonder if this could have anything to do with being rooted, having avast security, or something of that nature.

I think my next step would be to wipe the phone and start from scratch to see if that will work...
Like I stated code 1 is the secured element locking you out. The damn thing id buggy and some people have had it lock them for no reason.
Mine happened because I factory reset before ckearing the data from wallet.

I got this with the new update. I reset the app, rolled back updates, set it up and then upgraded and am fine.
Ha! I never had an issue setting it up after the new change. Everything went through fine, however using it yesterday my transaction failed. Reason it said it failed was because tap n pay wasn't set up nor was there a card selected. Stupid thing is the app shows tap n pay is set up n I do have a card selected. Never had an issue on the old wallet..
Sent from my SPH-L900 using xda app-developers app
I was worried, tap-n-pay wouldn't set up earlier, couldn't use wallet at a store wh n it had worked previously on this install of this rom. (synergy) After reading this thread, I checked and I got the code 11 thing, thought maybe I was f*cked with the secure element. But a quick clear data/cache and a force stop, restart the app, all seems fine. Says I'm ready to tap-n-pay. Cool.

I started getting this after 4.3 upgrade
I am going to attempt a fix file I used a while back I think for S3 I had but it is labelled JBWALLETFIX so it might work or help. I shall let yall know what comes of this. It worked for a long while and then a few days ago when I did the 4.3 update....I get this error. I called and escalated a ticket with Google but doubt they care. More to come. If the zip works I will post it.
Success....Apply this....Fixed!
Apply this zip in recovery and it fixes the problem. I think perhaps there may be some weird issue with updates they did recently and being rooted because the lady asked me "are you rooted?" and I lied and said NO I think some apps do look at root but wtf is with the OS all of a sudden breaking if I give it SU access? I did Unix admin and that should not occur at all. Simply gives a person access to system files. Sure if you delete something essential...you bork it. Anyhow here is the file

use favorite file explorer to do that manually and reboot

light ans quick solution for my case
Hy,
I got this error message "near by service stopped" each time I tried to play a song from my SDCard through "ALLSHARE" (logo attached) on my DLNA network, with the Music samsung app. If it was a song from the internal memory : no issue came in playing with ALLSHARE !
So I just Dismount->Mount my SdCard once.
How ? go to Setting->More->Memory->at the bottom if this page click on Unmount-> click on Mount and it works for myself.
I guess you have an app which calls "near by service", if it does with connexion with SDCard this could fix your issue. Otherwise, go to folder /system/app/AllShareCastPlayer.apk and click then re-install it !
I guess other app calls this service. I can help only through trouble I faced

Working on Android 9/root+magisk.
Here it is in a nutshell: Error 927 on ANY download, any app, any game, be it paid or free, on my Nexus 7 (2013) FHD. I've done the following:
- Cleared the data and cache for the Google Play Store, Download Manager, and Google Services Framework.
- Uninstalled updates for the Google Play Store and Google Services Framework.
- Deleted and re-added my Google account.
- Rebooted.
- Hard reset.
- Downgraded to 4.3 and re-upgraded to 4.4.2.
- Tried to download the apps and games from the Google Play website, and get "An unexpected error has occured. Please try again later."
- Changed the filter and proxy settings on my Cisco router.
- Switched to LTE, and... same thing.
- Created another Google account, and it worked, but I will NOT be forced to re-purchase the apps I've spent nearly $80.00 on over the years, or upload my music collection to Google Music again.
- Reached out to Google for help, and... crickets.
I'm at the end of my rope. If this isn't resolved soon, I'm returning the Nexus to Wal-Mart. I've NEVER had this sort of issue before, even with my first-generation Nexus 7. I've had Android tablets since my Motorola Xoom awhile back. I've ALWAYS had Android tablets. I'd hate to have to abandon Android because of this idiocy, but I may have to do so. I don't want to have to go with Apple for both my smartphone and tablet, but it's starting to look that way.
If anyone has any suggestions that aren't listed above, please, help me out. I love my Nexus 7, but without apps and games, it's pretty worthless.
Thanks in advance.
Normally deleting and adding back the Google account is a solution for Play Store problems, but as you said, you tried that. Some have reported that error 927 is because of a network connection error. How is web browsing? YouTube?

How did you do that? Did you download the 4.3 ROM to flash it? Did you unlock and flash a custom recovery?
When all else fails, flash the stock ROM, especially with your downgrading and upgrading. Google's files include a "flash-all.bat" within that will wipe everything and flash the stock ROM and recovery.

All web browsing and pre-installed apps work just fine. Just any attempts to update those apps, or install any other apps from Google Play, fail with error 927.

I actually have flashed the stock ROMs, from the original 4.3 to 4.4.2, with the exact same results. I've also made certain not to unlock the bootloader and to not root as to recreate the OOB experience as well. At this point, my options are exhausted.

Are you able to install apps on another device with the same account? If not it may be a problem with your account...

I've been having the exact same issue for 4 days. Regardless of rom, phone, or gmail account I use. I've done every wipe format imaginable even Odin as I have a Samsung phone same issue. Now I cant even get any Google apps to connect at all. Such as Google plus play store YouTube etc...Google says never heard of it before sorry.

I'm having the exact same problem now for a few days. I called Google support and they are aware of the problem and had no resolution. I was told too bad basically.
Out of curiosity, for those having this issue, did you upgrade to a 4.4.2 ROM?
I updated to stock rooted 4.3 galaxy note 2 Verizon and it happens on all of my gmail accounts too

I have the same problem. Ran across this thread doing a search for the error 927. Running a Verizon HTC One and an LG G Pad 8.3. Both have the same problems, and i too have called Google several times. Their answer was to call HTC. I was livid. I changed my password, but was only a temporary fix until I made a purchase from the Play store. Then the error came back. I realize i am in the Nexus 7 forums but wanted to chime in since the problem is happening to me too. Hopefully Google comes up with a fix. Too much money tied up to just create new account, which does work by the way.
Creating a new account shouldn't even be an option what it the issue happens on the new account? Google just needs to fix it.

I agree...I would be ok if they just said we're working on a fix, but just to ignore me and say call the manufacturer pizzed me off.

Same boat. I did everything the original poster did as well. Called into play store support and eventually got passed off to tier 2 support. Haven't heard anything in over a week.
The issue affects every device I log into with my account. Originally showed rpc:s-7 error, now 927.
Anyone with this problem find a solution? Again, I've done everything the op posted. In the past I've been able to correct the problem. But this time, no go.
Have the same problem... In every device I'm using with my account... 3 tablets, 2 cell phones. Spent more than 400 dollars in apps.. Can't download, nor even update. Always error 927. Changed password and problem persists.. It's obviously a problem with my account.. Wonder what could I do.
Have you tried installing apps from Google Play on a computer?
Hello, just an update...
My problem has gone... Seems it was from google side.
Too bad I had to flash my cel 3 times before I realized it was happening to all my devices.
Don't know if the password change had anything to do with the fix since, at least, it didn't work immediately.
If you encounter the same problem don't panic... give it a little time, hopefully it fixes on its own.
Thank you very much.
