Hi is there any mod to switch external memory to internal like on previous HTC Phones and Samsung phones where everything by default is saved to the external sdcard?

+1 I hate that the recovery and backups went straight to the internal storage. I prefer recovery and backups on the sd in case my internal storage gets wiped.
Yes that's right, although philz backup allows u do save to external sdcard, however app data for gameloft games and other apps quite quickly fill the internal sdcard, on the Samsung s3 and HTC one sv I had a mod which allowed all downloaded app data to go straight to external memory card, the mod showed the external memory as internal to all, it allowed unlimited apps
From past experience in HTC and some Samsung Phones the following file is modded "vold.stab" to switch the memorys.

Imo I wouldn't put any apps or app data on external since the card is so slow compared to internal.

To be honest I've had a sgs3 for 2 years with the mod on from the beginning and it hardly made any difference to the speed, the app itself is stored on internal memory but any external data the game or app downloads stores itself on the external memory card, and the HTC m8 being a BEAST i dnt think we Shud c any lags

I agree. Especially if you use a decent uhs-1 sdcard

I just got my Dinc yesterday and I was wanted to know the difference between internal storage and phone memory and what they're used for. I came from the Eris so I've never seen internal storage. Thanks.

Internal storage is like sd card type memory that's not removable. Phone memory is for apps, the rom, data etc.
At least I think so lol

I see. What does the internal memory used for?

Whatever you want. You can put music on there, set your camera to save on internal. No app data tho...

If I could ask, where are you seeing "Internal Storage" and "Phone Memory?"
Okay I have owned a few android phones and I've never noticed more then two different storage internal and external.
On the e4gt I have system,USB and SD card.
What exactly is saved on USB, system and SD card what's the defferences?
Is there a way to access and manage them?
I have noticed that switching SD cards does not make transfer everything from on SD to the next as it has in the past with the epic 4g and htc hero.
Please someone could I'm not having low memory problems just a little confused thank you.

you have USB (16 gb minus the system partition) which is essentially a SD card in the phone. Much like a ipod touch has internal storage.
You have SD card which is what ever SD card you have put in the phone
Internal as far as I have seen is a partition of the SD memory. It is used for your ROM and the 1.5 GB of app storage. this is not accessable without root.
I have never owned your previous phone but I doubt it even transferred data from one SD card to another with out you manually copying to phone and back to SD card? Or you just saved to the phones memory.
The top two memories are almost identical in purpose other than one is removable and one is not.
Okay thank you. And how can I access them? Well I know how to acces the SD card and internal for applications. But the USB...is it only accessible after rooting? Haven't rooted his phone yet.

In a file manger like astro. The internal one will be mnt/sdcard...the one you add would be mnt/sdcard/external_sd..

On the box it was written that storage is 4gb but when I turned on the phone my phone it was only 980 mb onlyyyy.whyyyy?? Is it possible that the shop that I bought the phone from has changed the internal storage piece??
Sent from my HTC One V using xda premium
I don't think its possible to change the internal storage piece, but I think that 3gb goes to the system storage.
Would someone else with a One V confirm this?
EDIT: did some searching, according to gsmarena 3gb is in fact for system apps
And here is an xda thread regarding the same issue: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1586291
EDIT 2: I just found out the One V has a microSD slot unlike the One X and S, so the only thing you need the 980 mb for is apps and data. But since it has microSD expansion, link2sd will work if you really want more space

you have to make partition first...which is supported by kernel....

The procedure is slightly more complicated to setup, since yes you need to partition the SD card (the 2nd partition is how much space you want for more apps), and you have to choose a certain partition format, e.g. FAT32 is supported on all ROMs.
I won't get into the details, there are multiple guides on how to setup and use link2sd.
I will, however, tell you that when using link2sd, nearly every part of the app you are moving, every bit of data, lib files, etc. are moved to the SD partition, and less than a megabyte is saved onto the phones internal storage for each app.

Sorry if this is a rather silly question. But when you insert a micro sd card into the note, does it simply make your storage space expand from the internal memory, so when you install large apps they share the memory or do you have to physically move the apps across to the card. If you know what I mean

you have to move them
Most apps install in system partition but the data of few larger apps is installed in internal memory like gameloft games or data in android folder.
You simply can not move those files to sd card. U need root access and 'movetosd' app to move system data to external MMC.

I cant seem to figure out how to get apps that ive downloaded on my external sd card I only have a class 4 16gb sd but everything goes to device instead of card

This is a major flaw with the note. You can put data on the card, but you cant put apps or cache movies from google play, etc...
It is a limitation with jelly bean, but samsung has not provided a work around. I will research this more before buying my next phone.

One potential solution is to get a bigger sd card and swap the internal and external storage. For example I have a 64 gig sd card that my note 2 now sees as internal storage. With your current 16 gig card it makes no sense to do this, but if you NEED more storage for apps this may be the only way. As far as I know there is no way to transfer app data to the external sd, but if this is incorrect someone feel free to correct me. If you are interested in swapping the sd card to internal storage this was the thread I followed:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2036796
EDIT: I've heard that some people are having success with an app called "link2sd" from the play store, but it wouldn't work consistently for me. Maybe worth a try though...
Thank you very much for the great info ..I will give that a shot ....xda community Rocks !!!!
