I'm looking for someone who was able to do it too. I hope someone shows up here and share with us.
Moved to Q&A.
as in Chrome OS, or just Chrome the browser?
Chrome Browser can be installed from Playstore, but I think you are talking about Chrome OS, and as far as that goes...there has been no development on it.

Yeah I'm talking about the os. It would be really good idea. The phone has the hardware for it.

But chrome os would have no support for many of the phones hardware features.
I t would be great if someone can develop it for Note 3

Yeah but if you think about it the hardware on the latest phones are more then adequate for Chrome OS. If some developers could get together and make it work it would be awesome and I'd be willing to donate. Imagine a phone and a semi full os when plugging into a monitor.

That would be superb and great feature. Well we just wait for the developers to make a move.
I am also looking for this app. Can anyone develop this app for Note3. It is cool if any one can do this.
I think it has no devs here yet

I hope I don't get flamed but I just wanna know if this is possible. There is a windows phone with the same specs as the S3 not released yet (forgot the name of it). and i would also like to know why it cannot be done if so.
Anything is possible. Is it likely someone will go through the trouble of trying to do this when you can just buy a WP8 device? Probably not.
Also, just because 2 phones use the same SoC doesn't mean they can run the same software without issue.

Thanks you for the response, definitely answered my question
One problem is that WP8 is not on open source like Android. Your phone needs a license to use it.

I'm not totally sure but there are a few fitness apps on the market that have this functionality built in. I've never used any of them but remember seeing something about it. Maybe sports tracker (I think? Its the only one that comes to mind)

Not yet. It requires to use some samsung frameworks which we basically we don't have.
I was thinking about supporting devs and creating some kickstarter-like thing, so they could start developing it.
Anyone else with me?

this idea was already explored by cyanogenmod awhile ago with a feature called cornerstone by Onskreen ithink. this was before samsung did it. Cyanogenmod had to abandon it after a threat by Google to take away the privilege to use the play store. so basically what im saying is this is somewhat dangerous and taboo territory

ha kind of they were just worried about incompatibility issues with apps, since you could do it with any app from the app store unlike samsungs, and how google works hard to give app devs a good platform to build on blah blah blah. its a shame it was a really cool feature. for any dev willing to try this you could use some of the cornerstone stuff idk where to find it but it would be a place to start at least
heres a demo of cornerstone it was only for tablets but i think with a little work it could run on phones

Meh, it doesn't look all that exciting. I'm more interested in a WebOS port to the OG, or Ubuntu mobile.

Probably since Chrome is the gold standard AND belongs to Google. You know, like how apple shoves their lesser app down your throat (Safari).

It's because of all the Google obsessed fanboys who want their non Nexus phones to be as close to a Nexus as possible and LG catering to them by including less LG apps and more Google apps.

Nexus phones have never been good enough for me, however, I wouldn't waste my time on the half baked browsers. Google Chrome has everything I need and snycs instantly with all of my phones, tablets and laptops flawlessly.
To each there own. I personally don't need to call anyone names because I am not emotionally charged when I post.

Who am I name calling? The existence of Nexus fanboys are a real thing. Whenever geeks are involved, there will be fans and there will be fanboys. Leading up the launch of the G4, a point made about the G4 was that there would be less bloat and more Google which is why the stock LG browser no longer exists and why Chrome is the "stock" launcher.
Nexus fanboys are very vocal when it comes to putting down phones they have no intention of ever buying since it's not a Nexus anyway. You don't see them so much here since this is a phone specific forum, but elsewhere in general Android land, they are there.

I've no need to single out a group of people just because they don't meet my standards or because they act in such a way that makes me emotional.
I like to discuss technology and the caveats they present, without emotion or judgment, but rather with logic and an open mind.

I'm simply stating the obvious. And that's great that you love to discuss technology without emotion. Good for you. Nobody called you a fanboy. Nobody called anyone in this thread a fanboy. The question was raised why the stock browser was removed and I gave my opinion on the matter.
Had I said nothing, there would still be fanboys. And if you don't believe "fanboy" is a real thing then you clearly haven't been on the Internet long. Go to any gaming forum and your eyes will be open. On the Android side of things, look for any self proclaimed Samsung knight.

So I was actually able to extract the apk from my friends phone but I can't install the app. I get 'application not installed' is it because the G4 isn't rooted? Anyone know a way to bypass if that is the issue?

So I moved the file to the system/app and its showing in my app drawer but when I try opening it tells me it has stopped. Could it be the permissions? I have them at rw-r-r.

Why would you want the LG Browser? What more does it give you?
I would think that Chrome should be fine since they included it as the default.

I've had the device a few weeks now and clearly the LG browser is more optimized than Chrome. Chrome rapes the battery for unknown reasons.

I don't know the over feel of it I liked a lot. Chrome is nice but I liked the LG browser more it was my main browser and like stated it didn't kill my battery when I surfed. Right now my battery is getting murdered and I'm doing the same things I did with the G3 and it lasted me all day.
