Port Windows Phone OS to S3 - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

I hope I don't get flamed but I just wanna know if this is possible. There is a windows phone with the same specs as the S3 not released yet (forgot the name of it). and i would also like to know why it cannot be done if so.

Anything is possible. Is it likely someone will go through the trouble of trying to do this when you can just buy a WP8 device? Probably not.
Also, just because 2 phones use the same SoC doesn't mean they can run the same software without issue.

Thanks you for the response, definitely answered my question

One problem is that WP8 is not on open source like Android. Your phone needs a license to use it.

The HD2 was running Windows Mobile originally, that's why.

Yup but the work around involved calling Microsoft and saying you need a code for an hd3

No, wanting an iPhone port is probably the most anti android you can get. At least winmo is open source.
I'm sure Windows Phone 7 will be ported over if possible. the HTC HD7 has very similar hardware so I don't see how it would not be possible, but I'm not a rom developer so my words are meaningless.
you mean like this one which will be translated into english tomorrow 10-26-10

usually it's more on getting drivers to work than anything else i believe.
i'd be interested in trying it out if it happens.
i ran XAndroid on my HTC Diamond. Was fun to dual boot WinMo and Android.

Yeah I'd definitely try it too. I'm not buying a WP7 until I try ti first for an extender period of time. Plus the main screen of the UI looks soooo boring to me. Well hopefully getting the drivers to work wont be too hard for these crazy developers here. And I had android on my Touch Pro

Not yet. It requires to use some samsung frameworks which we basically we don't have.
I was thinking about supporting devs and creating some kickstarter-like thing, so they could start developing it.
Anyone else with me?

this idea was already explored by cyanogenmod awhile ago with a feature called cornerstone by Onskreen ithink. this was before samsung did it. Cyanogenmod had to abandon it after a threat by Google to take away the privilege to use the play store. so basically what im saying is this is somewhat dangerous and taboo territory

ha kind of they were just worried about incompatibility issues with apps, since you could do it with any app from the app store unlike samsungs, and how google works hard to give app devs a good platform to build on blah blah blah. its a shame it was a really cool feature. for any dev willing to try this you could use some of the cornerstone stuff idk where to find it but it would be a place to start at least
heres a demo of cornerstone it was only for tablets but i think with a little work it could run on phones

L900 WINDOWS 8 possible ROM?

I'm writing in today to see if there is possibly a windows 8 ROM for our Note2 L900 devices...?
Umm you realize windows 8 (non rtm) does not run arm processors without an insane amount of developing magic, miracle, and sweat. They would basiclly have to rewrite the windows 8 kernel. Next time please do a little research before asking a question like that. It truly borders a stupid question

First. Thanks for the semi techy answer.
Second. I'm not a developer, nor in any way remotely close to one, hence is why I asked on this site.
Last. There is no such thing as a stupid question if one does not know the answer.

Sorry if i offended you in any way. I am not a developer either. I sense by the way your replied you have a true interest in the work that goes on for a phones. Its just that very often developers deal with people asking repetitive questions that tend to annoy them such as when this or that is available. That is why its always good to google first before asking on xda. Fortunately you did the right thing in putting this in question in the q and a section, and were only looking for some more information. I hope this does not deter you from learning more and asking questions.
once again sorry,

I'm far from an expert on this topic. However there was some interest in this when the surface rt came out I misspoke when I said rtm what I really meant is rt. Rt is only given to manufacturers. No one has it and if they did they would be sued into oblivion. This is the only type of windows that supports arm processors. No developer wants to get involved in this.

Let me make it abundantly clear. Its never going to happen. Not only is it impossible to do, no developer wants to get involved. If you really want windows 8 I would highly suggest purchasing a windows phone along with your Android.

I actually think a windows 8 phone would slow down a note 2 BC the OS is so memory hungry.
