Hello,
I have a problem turning on the tablet after I shut it down. Holding the power button doesn't do the trick. I'm trying now holding Volume Down + Power button and after several times it seems to work. Anyone else experiencing a same issue?
I also get the message "Secure booting error. Cause: Device Unlock!, so Boot success". I assume that's fine anyway.
I rooted my pad with King Root App Method and installed TWRP 2.7.0.0. I'm on CM11 Snapshot.

This may be a dumb question but before today I never even knew it existed. What is "safe mode"? Is that like safe mode on a windows pc where it only loads default drivers, or is it something else entirely?

I'm interested too. In what capacity did you first learn of "safe mode"?
??
I don't think this exists on this phone, so I am not sure what you're talking about here.
There is the bootloader, recovery, and then normal phone functions.
Where did you hear about safe mode?
I know there's hboot.. recovery and bootloader. But safe mode never heard of it

I actually found out about it on accident. My phone kept looping at the boot animation. I went to pull the battery but accidently hit vol down and power button at same time wile pulling off the cover. All of a sudden phone vibrated 3 times and then booted but it had safe mode printed in the lower left corner. I tried googling it but couldnt find anything thay explained exactly what it is.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA Premium App
You can try it on your phones. When the boot animation starts playing hold vol down and power at the same time. Keep holding it untill your phone vibrates.

It did allow me to fix my phone without having to restore a nandroid. I was trying to get a hotboot mod to work on the new stock rooted GB when i got the boot loop. But being able to boot into safe mode allowed me to change the moded file back to the original therfore fixing my boot loop issue.

Hmmm I did try it but couldn't replicate your results. I tried holding V-&Power at both the splash screen and the bootanimation. Both attempts yeilded only booting normally.

Hmm not sure works constitently for me. You have to keep holding them until your phone vibrates. You are on a DINC right? Are you on custom or stock rom, not sure if its specific to the rom or not. I am on stock rooted GB.

Yea no, I think its a HTC Sense thing. I'm currently running CM Nightly 168 so I don't think its a 'general' Android thing.

It happened to me once before, I was flashing stuff like crazy and then all of a sudden "safe mode". I just restored my device and it was gone.

After the restore it was all good.

I've been doing some more googling and it seems every stock rom running android phone has safe mode, but different phones have different ways of entering into it. Some vol down and power, some vol up and power, some you have to hold the menu button, some vol down power and menu, and some holding down the track ball.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA Premium App
Hmm, never stumbled onto that before. Thanks to everyone for feedback!
Interesting, I'll have to try it next time I change up my phone config
Edit:
Wow, that just saved me from a lot of trouble. Flashed a voltage table that was unstable and caused the phone to bootloop, this worked saving me from an uninstall.

Saved me a lot of trouble and time too. Cant believe i never knew about it. Also this did work on CM nightly? The earlier post by wildstang said he could not get it to work with cm. Leaving me to believe it was a stock rom or sense related thing.

I don't know, it worked for me yesterday, however I'm not sure what I pressed. I can't seem to get back into safe mode now
Edit, seems like if you press vol down, menu, and trackball it goes into safe mode. I updated my cm7 nightly, now safemode does not work....

I think I've bricked my T210R 7.0. I was trying to Oden back to stock using the Kies rom. all seemed to be going well till I attempted to reboot the tab got stuck on the samsung screen. managed to get it back to the download screen, but before I could attempt to run Oden again got called away. wen I got back the screen was dark and the tab would not respond at all. I have had it charging (with the 2amp charger) for 24 hours now hoping it was just a dead battery to no avail... anyone have any suggestions?
No suggestions this is depressing...

Update... plugged the tab into the charger and ignored it for a few days, was getting ready to call samsung, decided to try the phone one last time and as I pressed the power button the batt indicater lit up showing a full charge. Put the phone in download mode re flashed the stock rom, let it reboot only to watch it sit on the samsung screen, finally booted into recovery, cleared the cache, reset the phone, rebooted and tab started up perfectly.

Hi, I installed PA Kit Kat on my Nexus 7 a while. Yesterday after restarting the device, when I tried turning it on I saw a "No Command" message and a picture of an Android lying down. The device won' turn on or even show a sign of being charged. There was nothing unusual before I tried to restart it! Please help me by providing a tutorial.:crying:
Have you tried booting to recovery from the No Command screen using the hardware buttons?

Your fine ! Just that Kitkat is all the rage, so I assumed you were on that too.
Try this : Settings >>> Apps >>>>ALL... Find the settings running app. Then CLEAR CACHE. You cannot clear data though.
Hope it helps !
Also, Philz latest (I think 6.14 or 6.16) has some bugs. I would just flash a generic CWM. TWRP latest also is buggy.
Thanks Man I appreciate your help. I'm not so sure about the e980 and KitKat yet on ATT sounds pretty buggy so I'm still holding off.

Hey community, I need your help here pretty bad. I was running the aicp 7.0 release but ended up flashtooling back to bone stock. I am getting constant and random reboots. Sometimes it is a bootloop, sometimes it gets to the att logo, sometimes it makes it to my home screen, and sometimes I can actually use it for 10 or 15 minutes but it always fails and reboots. Is there anything I can try? I am totally stumped. I figured a tot file flash back to stock would have solved this but it didn't. It almost seems like a hardware failure but I have never dropped it, got it wet nothin. Another real odd deal is when I can't get it to come out of a loop, if I take the back cover off it will start up. I thought maybe it was the connection on the back cover so I put a piece of tape over it but it still does it, but even now it is working with the back cover off but randomly reboots. Its always like this, my signal drops to no bars with the red x and then freezes then reboots. Sometimes it's when I wake it up, and sometimes it's when I start a program. Can anyone please give me some hope?
My nexus 7 is in a boot loop I can get into it by holding the volume buttons but it just reboots. Also it won't stay shutdown when I get it power off it goes into boot loop. Any suggestions

Volume down and power doesn't get you to bootloader mode?
Sounds like power button might be stuck.
Its the button it all works now after I did a factory reset. But if it gets warm the power button malfunctions. Also it will not shutdown completely it always reboots.

You should flash twrp through a shell and flash a ROM for your device. They have lots for the nexus 7. I'm actually working on one called flojoy if you have the WiFi only. I also know of a pretty rooted stock ROM (4.4.4) with busybox.its here: http://www.scottsroms.com/downloads.php?do=cat&id=94

Can you return it? Sounds defective.
This could also be caused by a bad battery. I know it doesn't sound like it could be related, but I have been through a few devices that have behaved like this that were fixed by a battery replacement. Not the easiest thing to do on this device, but not hard either.
