Ok, so i got odin to work for me a while back. I tried to do a friends phone tonight and it keeps telling me device not recognized when its in download mode. How would it work on mine and not his? I went throught his when i first did mine, and got it to work by shutting the phone down and plugging it in for about 30 seconds or so then going to d/l mode while still plugged in. All of a sudden it recognized my phone, installed more drivers, and i was able to flash away. Now with his phone, no matter what i try it doesnt recognize his phone.
Strange enough though, with odin open and his phone booted normally, i plugged it in, and odin said "added", then when i unplugged it, it said "removed". So odin found it while booted, but its not recognized when in d/l mode. Any suggestions?

This^^^^^^^^^ I have 2 phones, all of a sudden one would connect and the other wouldn't. I went into device manager on my computer and under samsung android (while bad phone was on) hit update drivers. It took like 20 minutes to find and load them all but it works now. Wierd thing is one phone shows up as F and the other as E on drives...but the moral is every phone is different.
Hello all,
I installed the newest Cyanogenmod 10.1 nightly (3/24/13) and the phone worked just fine for a few hrs. But when I selected Google Play the phone turned off and got stuck in a boot loop. I tried rebooting in download mode by connecting to my PC while holding volume up+down but it doesn't wotk. I tried rebooting into recovery but still no luck. No matter what I do it just boots to the Samsung logo then just vibrates in 3 second intervals.
I'm ok with flashing my phone to stock and rooting again. But it wont do anything but vibrate every few seconds no matter what I try. I'm desperately trying to get it into download mode. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
Did u try removing battery & then try to reboot?

Yes, I did.
Weirdest thing happened though. I got frustrated and left the phone vibrating on my desk. I came back 10 minutes later and it's back to normal!!
I have no idea what happened and I don't plan to try to figure it out. I'm happy it's back up and running.
Thanks for the reply though. Very much appreciated.
That is weird

Hello,
Today my phone randomly turned off by itself, and when I turned it back on, it got to the samsung screen and then went black. After I tried again/pulled the battery, it did the same thing. I can access recovery and download modes, but when I tried to restore my phone, my phone ****s off before the process can commence. Since the phone barely stays on for 5 seconds, I can't get Odin to see my phone. Please help. My phone is rooted, but I never installed a custom ROM. I'm still stock.
Try to pull the battery, then plug in the USB. You should be able to enter download mode without the restart.

Doesn't work. When I plug it in without the battery, the charging light comes on, then turns off, then the mini vibration happens. But I never get a samsung screen. Can't access download mode at all without the battery.
That did happen to me before. I'm trying to remember how I repaired it. When the battery is in, and turned on. Is it rebooting alot or stuck on the Samsung screen?

The samsung screen will come up, disappear, and then the phone doesn't do anything again. I have to pull the battery to get it to turn on again.
Have you had trouble with the USB staying connected with the PC before?

Not before this happened...
Hmm. I'm stumped. Sorry. I had the very same issue with my i777. I had the Odin screen on while I fiddled wth the USB connection at the phone until it finally stayed connected long enough to push a recovery to it. Although it doesn't appear you have the same issue. I figured I'd throw it out there. Again. I'm sorry I can't help further.

Not to my knowledge, I can still push it just fine.
There have been more than a few instances where someone would have similar issues where if would shut off after a few seconds. Most times it would reboot itself over and over, but for a few people it would just shut down.
Most of the cases I've seen, it turned out to be something keeping the button in contact causing it to trigger the switch.
Sometimes it was the button itself got jammed, others the button felt ok, maybe a bit loose, but under it it was essentially pushed in. A couple have apparently just had a bad switch or a short.
May or may not be the case here, but thought I'd go ahead and mention it.

Some people simply opened up the phone and reseated the button. Others had to buy a new button and replace themselves. Some sent it in to a repair shop to have it done for them and a couple who suspected it was an issue with a switch or a short on the board I don't think were ever able to fix it.
One guy got mad at his and slammed it on the table. After that he said it worked fine! I do NOT recommend this!!! But I have fixed stereos, VCR's, CD players, and all sorts of electronic equipment with this method! I would never attempt it with this fragile screen though!
What I recommend is that you go to a phone service centre that does JTAG, that way they can diagnose and repair the motherboard

Is it definitely the motherboard?

I can't be so sure, but to me it sounds like the motherboard, if you have used triangle away before and have a clean flash counter you could send your device to Samsung for service and repair?

I was under the impression that Sudden Death couldn't happen to US variants and they they had fixed it in the updates, guess I was wrong. Gonna have my friend look at it, if he can't fix it i'll send it to T-Mobile.
when you try to access dl mode you get the option to continue or reboot, choose reboot and long press home and volume up, this will cause recovery to boot up (I sometimes have trouble getting it to boot with my problem without this method) then flash your rom again or flash a firmware package. this will at least get you into your rom for the time being. Then you can work from there.

did you try taking battery out for about a minute then putting back in and trying to boot to recovery?
I rooted and unlocked bootloader for my girlfriends galaxy note 2 (GT-N7105) and installed CleanRom. After a couple of months, she just started getting issues with her mobile data so I told her to just reboot. Now her phone won't turn. It just comes up with an empty battery with the loading sign. I rebooted into [Philz] recovery and wiped cache as well as format. Still nothing. I could easily reinstall stock with odin but I'm not near a computer for a couple of weeks so I was hoping for a quick solution. Every little helps

So even after restoring stock via odin I still can't boot up the device.

Ok so my note 2 turns on, will boot into download mode or recovery just fine. It boots up but dies immediately upon finishing boot. (Occasionally, I can press a button or two.) I have flashed a Rom since this problem and it does the same thing. This is driving me crazy!

You on a custom rom or stock with custom kernel what was last thing you did b4 this happened?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
It was rooted stock with cwm. Since this has happened I have put a Rom on it was(jedi x) but it boots to the homescreen but just for a second then it reboots. It's my wife's phone and she says she got shocked by the outlet and the phone shut off oddly.

The problem seemed to fix itself (this has never happened before!) It maybe thatmy battery terminalwas a bit messed up (long story) and wasnt pushing up against the battery with enough force. Little piece of aluminum foil and a lot of cursing at unsteady fingers and it hasnt had a problem since.

I keep every phone I ever had. I don't need to sell them to get extra change for my next one. This phone quit charging for a week. Then one day it started charging again. That's when I put a sliver of aluminum foil in it to Mae the connection tighter. Probably didn't need it but the phone still works today. When is your momma gunna buy you a new phone? Better go to bed so you can get up and cut that grass.
