Hello I am using Xperia Arc with 2.3.4 rooted
I want to hide my camera application
before 2.3.4 update I used to hide camera app using smart bar(in application manager there is app called camera). It worked successfully
But after 2.3.4 upgrade there is additional app named Camera 3D along with default Camera . The problem is that Camera 3D is not visible in application manager of smart bar. So I cannot use above method to hide it. Is there any simple way to hide Camera 3d ?
I think following method might work. Please correct me if I am wrong as I am nob to this stuff !!
1)in the file manager I found there are 3 camera related apks in /system/app folder viz semcCamera3D.apk,semcCameraUI. apk,CameraExtentionPermission.apk
2)I think if I delete semcCamera3D.apk ,camera 3D will disappear permanently . I am correct ? Is it safe to remove semcCamera3D.apk?
3)adao file manager says I do not have permissions to delete files in /system/app . Even when my arc is rooted. Is there any free gui app like Root explore to delete such system apps?
Sounds like you're not rooted to me.. But why would you want to hide/ remove it anyway?!?? If you do then try using Titanium Backup to freeze it.

IF you are ROOT user, then thear up right corner is button "mount r/w, mount r/o"
Push "mount r/w" and you are abel to delete all what you want. But alway make before BACKUP to file what you want to delete.

So i just installed the new BM 5.0 and i was deleting unwanted apps via Titanium Backup pro .. i was doing it so fast that i accidentally deleted task manager! now everytime i click on the widget "Active Application" it fore closes! i tried to look for the stock task manager in the app store but could not find it! is there a way to undo the delete without doing a nandroid restore?
Use the feature in Titanium that can pull apks from cwm backups. You should be able to fix it with that.

1) Open TB
2) Go to Backup/Restore
3) Option soft key
4) More
5) Extract from Nandroid backup
6) Pick Task Manager
I personally tried it once and it didn't work for me, worst comes to worst I'll upload you the JobManager.apk (I assume that's the one you're talking about? The Samsung task manager?). But I assume it works, otherwise they wouldn't include the feature.

To install it, you'll need a file explorer with root access (ES File Explorer, ROOT File Explorer, etc.). Then you'll have to move it to /system/app (to get to /system you'll have to go one level up from /sdcard to get to the root folder /). Make the permissions read "rw- r-- r--" (how you do that depends on what file explorer you use) and then reboot. Should fix the issue.

I'm guessing you're doing it from your phone? Minus has a quirk with mobile sites. Download it from your computer or change your user agent to desktop.

It'll be an option in root explorer along the lines of "root access". I don't know the exact process because I use ES. Play around in the settings of root explorer until you find it. By default it's disabled to prevent users from actually screwing with their system operating system without knowing what they're doing.
did not find anything under settings but there was a button that said Mount R/O or Mount R/W ... so i selected the file to move then i went to system/app thrn i clicked the mount button on the top and it worked! Thank u so much for ur help and fast responds! u really saved mr from alot of grief.

Yeah it's the same thing, you're just allowing the system position to be written to. No problem. Is your task manager working as usual now?

Not sure. Android has a native task manager other than the Samsung one so that might have anything to do with it

Was it working fine when you first installed it? Either way, there's always 5 generic steps you should always take first when trying to resolve an issue:
1) clear application data
2) reboot to recovery and clear cache
3) clear dalvik cache
4) fix permissions
5) reboot
See if that fixes your issues

You'll either need to use adb or a root enabled file manager.
For file managers, I like ES File Explorer.
If you use that, you will need to tap the top left tab, to open the menu.
Then scroll down and enable Root, then tap that same root tab and enable R/W access to the file system.
Then you can access /system/
Or from a terminal, with device connected and in Recovery
Or in OS, with the system mounted, ES works here too, for mounting as R/W.
Then:
Code:
adb push Camera.apk /system/app/Camera.apk

You posted this in the m7 forum...
You'd probably get some answers and certainly more relevant responses in the HTC 10 Q&A section.

This tutorial will teach you how to update system apps like Calender, keyboard, file manager etc
Things you ll need :-
A rooted phone
Root explorer
Applications like Aptoide
Instructions
Install root explorer from play store.
Install aptoide from internet.
Let aptoide update.
After some time aptoide will show updates, update the system apps. But these apps wont install.
Backup the original apk and delete it from /system/app folder (root).
Now go to root explorer, copy the (SystemAppName).apk from /sdcard/.aptoide and paste it into /system/app. No need to install.
Reboot the phone and Done!
You can use the same method to revert back to original app.
NOTE: SOME APPS LIKE SETTINGS CANT BE UPDATED USING THIS METHOD.
That Will Stop them Work
replacing home launcher update with this method caused me stock in boot animation , and before , replacing theme app caused disapearing notification bar, i dont think its a good way foe updating system apps , however it didnt work for me
Huawei p6 runing b709

Did you change the apk permissions after you replaced it? If not the app won't work properly

Apkpure dot com has it.
I have the same problem but the app I'm looking for is 9Now which comes installed on my Sony TV and doesn't need a mouse to control. I want to copy the apk so I can install it on my shield.
I tried Solid explorer but 9Now doesn't show up on it even tho it is on my Home screen and works.
Any suggestions?

It's probably a system app and by default the file manager you're using is not showing system apps. See if there's an option to enable it.
I use X-Plore file manager and it has an "app manager" that lists all installed apps. By default though system apps are turned off, so I have to bring up the context menu and click on "show system apps".
After which I can find any app installed and back up the APK by creating a copy of it.
Solid Explorer shows system apps but it isn't listed amongst them. Will give X-Plore a try.
cheers
UPDATE: Tried X-Plore, Same thing neither 9Now nor ABC iView appear yet both are displayed on the Recommended apps list and work when clicked on. Odd thing is they never work first time, only second time. It's as if both are just shortcuts for a temporary app that it downloads and installs but no sign of either on the TV.
Try installing Shareit
