Accidentally deleted stock Task Manager!! - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989
So i just installed the new BM 5.0 and i was deleting unwanted apps via Titanium Backup pro .. i was doing it so fast that i accidentally deleted task manager! now everytime i click on the widget "Active Application" it fore closes! i tried to look for the stock task manager in the app store but could not find it! is there a way to undo the delete without doing a nandroid restore?
Use the feature in Titanium that can pull apks from cwm backups. You should be able to fix it with that.

1) Open TB
2) Go to Backup/Restore
3) Option soft key
4) More
5) Extract from Nandroid backup
6) Pick Task Manager
I personally tried it once and it didn't work for me, worst comes to worst I'll upload you the JobManager.apk (I assume that's the one you're talking about? The Samsung task manager?). But I assume it works, otherwise they wouldn't include the feature.

To install it, you'll need a file explorer with root access (ES File Explorer, ROOT File Explorer, etc.). Then you'll have to move it to /system/app (to get to /system you'll have to go one level up from /sdcard to get to the root folder /). Make the permissions read "rw- r-- r--" (how you do that depends on what file explorer you use) and then reboot. Should fix the issue.

I'm guessing you're doing it from your phone? Minus has a quirk with mobile sites. Download it from your computer or change your user agent to desktop.

It'll be an option in root explorer along the lines of "root access". I don't know the exact process because I use ES. Play around in the settings of root explorer until you find it. By default it's disabled to prevent users from actually screwing with their system operating system without knowing what they're doing.
did not find anything under settings but there was a button that said Mount R/O or Mount R/W ... so i selected the file to move then i went to system/app thrn i clicked the mount button on the top and it worked! Thank u so much for ur help and fast responds! u really saved mr from alot of grief.

Yeah it's the same thing, you're just allowing the system position to be written to. No problem. Is your task manager working as usual now?

Not sure. Android has a native task manager other than the Samsung one so that might have anything to do with it

Was it working fine when you first installed it? Either way, there's always 5 generic steps you should always take first when trying to resolve an issue:
1) clear application data
2) reboot to recovery and clear cache
3) clear dalvik cache
4) fix permissions
5) reboot
See if that fixes your issues

Make file a /system app
I am using Launcher Pro as my only home screen. I put it in /system and installed it (via root explorer) but it ends up in /data/app how can I make it stay in system?
why would u want it in system folder when new versions come u will have hard time updating it but just uninstall it place the apk file in the system/app folder then fix permissions on it and reboot and see if that works the permissions should have checks on first column and only check the first box in second column everything else should be unchecked

[Q] BBC iPlayer wont go away
I installed BBC iPlayer(dont ask me why ) from the market - and now it just wont go away. Uninstalling leads to "Uninstall failed"(Avinstallationen misslyckades). Tried forced stop, cleaning data, empty cache... Any idea how to force removal of this program? Very glad for help! /Scrammy
If you are rooted, go to the data/app folder and delete the file called bbc.iplayer.android-1.apk. Then reboot.

Thanks for your help! Click to expand... Click to collapse Weird. Mine is installed in data/app. Maybe that's why you can't uninstall it, if it thinks it is a system file. Are you rooted, if so, you could try Titanium backup to remove. failing that... go for it, it shouldn't harm your system to manually delete that app. Just make sure it has the same name as the one I posted above.
UK phones come with it pre-installed so it might be in the system/app folder (need root explorer).
There's your answer then. Thanks for the info artesea.

Install apk from sdcard using your internet browser
What if you need to install an apk from sdcard but you don't have a file manager installed yet, and to make things worse you don't have internet access to download it from the market! Well, there's a solution to that. Provided by every internet browser available. (I suppose you have one installed Here's what you need to do: 1. Put the apk file in the main directory your sdcard. Rename it to something very short for easy typing. In this example, I will use "fm.apk". 2. Boot your device. Goto Security Settings and check "Unknown Sources". 3. Open your internet browser. In the address bar type "file:///sdcard/<filename>.apk". In our example above it should look like this: "file:///sdcard/fm.apk" 4. Press "Go". That's it! Installation started!

Or, instead of trying to remember browser commands or adb commands, just skip all of this madness and grab a flashable .zip that contains a file manager! ~ I feel like I'm taking crazy pills over here, kids. If you don't have a flashable file manager, just grab the one I made on the WildChild ROM thread (Post #1). Copy the .zip to your SD Card. Done. Don't ever worry about flashing a ROM without a file manager ever again.
I will give this a try.Looks interesting

Danceoff, this is for people who are trying to PREPARE for flashing ROMs on the fly. Ie. They have access to market, file explorer etc NOW but won't LATER when they actually do the flash. I don't have service right now so my phone is basically a tiny tablet, and I'm a flash-a-holic. i flash ROMs on break at work, on the bus, etc. This is very handy for me. Thank you.

I also tried to use the adb command on the terminal with su rights but that did nothing, does anyone have any advice besides reseting my phone.i am also running Jedi mind trick x3(i know I need to update)
