Create new backups with Titanium - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

How do i delete the old backups and make new ones. Im tired of having to uncheck most of the things i do not use anymore in a restore (alors of FONTS from before...Apps that I cant use or do not need anymore etc...) In the backup/restore all i can do is update or change what I already have.
Might be me again not seeing the obvious option.

Plug your phone into a PC and navigate to the folder where TBU stores its data. Delete everything in that folder. Run a new back up. Viola!

Or download a File Manager application and just blow out the folder with the phone. File Manager HD is pretty good.

Install all apps after flashing ROM instead of each one by one??

Using Titanium backup..... It's really annoying to have to install over 100 apps one by one after I flash a new rom. Any way to do it without having to click install on every single one??
If you purchase titanium you can do that. On pro version click menu then batch

+1... the paid version does it all automatically. Worth the few bucks to unlock.
sent from my HTC Evo
Titanium pro (paid) will do that, but I know another way. This does not save your data however. Make a backup in something like astro, and copy from sdcard to computer. Once new rom is flashed, go into recovery. Put all the apps in a folder (I reccommend the name app) and put that in your tools folder. Cd to the tools folder, and use the command
Adb push app/ /data/app/
If you get the gist of this, it will put all the stuff in the apps folder into data app. Reboot, and they will all be installed, but with no data.
@dkdude36
Wouldnt he still have to individually install each apk?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
you could always use a script to do it. Just put all the apks in one directory on your SD card and have it install everything in that dir.
I have one I made for a ROM of mine that does it with symlinks, it could probably be modified to install them. You would still need to install the app data or you would lose all your saved info though.

Some Data Doesnt Show on SDcard mounted to USB.

Anyone else ever notice this sometimes. I'm trying to make a backup of my nova launcher settings which writes data to /sdcard/data/com.teslacoilsw.launcher/backup
We'll, if I mount my phone to my computer and search that directory its not there. My previous backup seems to be there, but if I make a new one, and then mount the phone and search the directory its not there.
I deleted the entire backup folder directory, and backed it up again, still not there. Yet I can see everything in ROOT EXPLORER just fine?
What am I missing? This happens with other things (data) as well.
Yes, I have the same question as yours. Us there anybody can help us out?

That is an issue with the MTP interface, not with your device. The files are there. You need to refresh the window.
I personally do not use MTP to transfer files, as it is quite flaky. I use ADB instead.

[Q] [Help] Invisible/"Missing" files after flashing 4.2.x

I know this has been addressed but I was hoping you could help me and my friend out because we can't seem to find a definitive answer out there....I have tried about 8-10 4.2.X ROMs on my galaxy nexus and every time I do the files are moved into sub folder 0 because of multiple users and the restructured file system that comes with it.....now our problem is that when we use 4.2 or 4.2.1 ROMs the files are invisible no matter what I do....I used many different file explorers and yes I have "show hidden files" checked off. However when I revert back to 4.1.2 the files appear again.....even when I hook my phone up to my computer when running 4.2.x the files are invisible and they are nowhere to be found so that I can merge the old and new file folders...so basically when I'm running 4.1.2 everything is great but when I flash 4.2.x everything is moved and cannot be seen or visible on my phone or computer until I revert back to the previous version of android (4.1.1 or 4.1.2). Any help or problem solving is much appreciated once again thank you for the time and patience for dealing with us lol
Seems you are not using the latest TWRP or CWM so you are running into the "0" folder issue. Update your recovery and try again.
Hope this works

So what do you exactly have in /sdcard/ after you flash 4.2?
Oh and assuming you know that you have a folder called "xyz" and it becomes invisible, then did you try searching using the "Search" function of the file explorer you are using so it can find this "xyz" for you automatically?
The files should be stored somewhere because you see them when reverting to 4.1.2 so I think that determining where they are should help in understanding what's going on and what to do later
Note: I have to sleep so I will check this thread again in the morning if no one helped you already

First and foremost let me say thanks for taking the time I really appreciate it.....OK.....yes I have used the search function.....let's see here.....so currently I'm running PACman ROM android 4.1.2.....I'm using ES File Explorer.....so when I use es explorer and go to SD card everything is there....games media pics videos basically everything I have on my phone....now when I flash a 4.2.X ROM I download es file explorer and I check off show hidden files.....when I go to SD card a brand new set of files have appeared....including but not limited to "Android" "Notifications" "Downloads" etc. It brings a whole new set of empty folders to the foreground and all of my original folders were moved.....but I can't seem to find a way to "go up a level" to see my original files and see folder "0" with this new set of empty folders.....I basically can't find a way to go up one level and see the entire contents of SD card on my phone or on my computer it just automatically brings me the the newest folder "0" with no way to go up a level no matter what I do or try
Actually in ES File Explorer you will not be able to go up and see the files of the root directory unless you are "rooted" and do the following:
1) Run ES File Explorer
2) Click on the botton right 3 dots
3) Click settings
4) Scroll down to "Other Settings" and choose "Root settings"
5) Check the first three options "Root Explorer", "Up to Root" and "Mount File System"
Now if you start ES File Explorer then you can go up one level by clicking the "up" icon in the main screen
Afterwards, maybe you can search manually or via the Search function to find your files

I'm having the same issue as the OP. I can see all file structure with Astro and root explorer, yet I can not see them with my windows computer. All I can see is internal storage and the folders that are in there which seems to be just the main folders.
How are you able to see the rest of the folders in windows explorer so you/I can put my backups back on my phones. Titanium is saving to storage/emulated/legacy. Yet I can not get there through my PC. This is driving me nuts. I have a fresh install and want to get my back up stuff back to the correct locations.
Thanks

It seems you have your Titanium backup folder on your PC and you want to send it back to your phone, right?
If so, then just move the titanium backup folder normally to your /sdcard/ then follow this post to let titanium detect the folder you sent to /sdcard/ then restore your apps

You are correct and I have everything pretty much the way I want, but I think I have extra folders in my internal storage. I can now see the main storage from windows and it is temping to just keep going with what i got, but I have this nagging feeling that I have something wrong.
Like in this thread.
4.2 roms + CWM 6.0.2.3
your old files are located in data/media
4.2 creates its new SD card directory in data/media/0
take the files you want out of the old directory and put them in the new one and they will show up on your computer.

If the contents are hidden that is probably a sign that you don't want to mess with it, but if it was me, I would make a nandroid backup and give the 3 gig folder the axe to see if anything bad happens.
However, if you are not running a custom recovery where you can backup and restore the system, I am not sure I would do anything. Too risky.

Would do the same here. But at first I would check this folder with a file explorer, such as es file explorer. In the settings of this explorer you can activate to show hidden apps and check what is inside this folder.

See root files from pc

Am I the only one who can't figure out how to view and or copy some files from the phone to my pc? Example, I created two zip files on my phone to be copied off for backup. TWRP.zip and Titanium backup.zip but neither is visible when connected from my pc. Chmod and chown also fails through root explorer or terminal. I'm feeling retarded right now...
Where are those zip files located? Somewhere in your root storage or on your sdcard/internal storage?
If it's the latter, try using adb commands to transfer the files to your PC
Or you can use this app called "Handshaker" and see if the files are visible there

If you created zip files in root explorer, did you look in...storage/emulated/0/SpeedSoftware/archives
If yes, then move them to a folder you've already created. Much easier to find that way ?
Yeah I can see the zip files fine on the phone, and I can see most all files from the PC. I created the zip files right in the root of sdcard which is the same as the root of internal shared storage from the PC. I can even browse both the folders TWRP and Titanium backup from Windows Explorer. I even copied the files to a different dir. I'm thinking they being owned by root is the issue. Going to keep plugging. And try the app suggested.
The issue was not here on the 6P. I just zipped up those two dirs and copied them to the pc. Can't copy twrp cause of file names that piss off Windows and tibu has way too may files. Anyway, going to look into the adb thing but if the files are not visible then ???
Also. Thought about otg but the phone insists on formatting the cards as fat32 which have a 2 gig limit lol

Set lock screen to swipe. Uninstall all theme overlays. Do my TiBu backup, and save it to my pc. Go to twrp and backup boot, system, and data, and let it rip. Then I save that backup to the pc. Then if I'm installing a new rom, I just do the twrp factory reset thing. I don't wipe system anymore since that seems to foul things up. Which, I still don't quite understand since that was SOP on the 6p ??
