This tutorial will teach you how to update system apps like Calender, keyboard, file manager etc
Things you ll need :-
A rooted phone
Root explorer
Applications like Aptoide
Instructions
Install root explorer from play store.
Install aptoide from internet.
Let aptoide update.
After some time aptoide will show updates, update the system apps. But these apps wont install.
Backup the original apk and delete it from /system/app folder (root).
Now go to root explorer, copy the (SystemAppName).apk from /sdcard/.aptoide and paste it into /system/app. No need to install.
Reboot the phone and Done!
You can use the same method to revert back to original app.
NOTE: SOME APPS LIKE SETTINGS CANT BE UPDATED USING THIS METHOD.
That Will Stop them Work

Did you change the apk permissions after you replaced it? If not the app won't work properly

I'm running Calkins deodexed ICS Fd02 ROM and I'm trying to install a transparent google search bar and transparent face book widget for my home page. I have root explorer and ES file pro and i can push the app into the system folder but when i try to install it in the system folder it starts to install but then at the ends it says did not install. Can someone help me out with this? When i overwrote the google quick search box apk it disappeared from the widgets tray. Now i have no google search bar widget at all and i really don't wanna do a restore over that. Help its personal now. I've al ready made the permissions the same. Maybe there's a way to push it with CWM?

Google search is a part of google framework service. So, clear the data/cache for both apps after you place the google search app into /system/app folder. Reboot your phone. Once after you place the google search app into /system/app folder, you need to check the permission is same as other apps in /system/app folder.
When you push a system app, you don't need to install it, just set the permissions right and reboot. Did you use a deodexed apk?

Well that doesn't work. Permissions are set right. I've rebooted. Just doesn't show up in the widgets tray or in the system applications list. Its in the system/app folder but its like its not installed on the system. I've cleared all the cashes several times and rebooted several times. Is there any way to flash it or manually install it?

ahh,next to ics rom.
Problem 1:
Some users find that the Swype is force closing, and the absence of gallery and music in App drawer.
If you face this problem, here is what you can do:
1. Using root explorer, delete Swype.apk from System/app (or) uninstall swype using link2sd.
2. Try looking for play music and gallery ics apk in system /app. If present MOVE them to SD card using root explorer. Tap rw at the top to move.
3. Reboot.
4. Install the following attached apk's in the post: SwypeICS.apk, and GalleryICS.apk, Google play music. apk or from the apks which you just moved to your SD card. For better performance of play music, again move the apk to System /app...and set permissions to rwrr. (Tick the first two boxes in the first row and the 1st box in the other two rows) and reboot.
5.Enjoy.
Problem 2:
ICS Gallery is not working on my phone.
Solution:Have you done it properly? Try again. I've fixed the link. Still if it doesn't work, I'm afraid you will have to install the old Gingerbread Gallery. Copy and paste gallery3D.apk from attachments into System/app using root explorer, set permissions to rwrr and reboot.
Problem 3:
Status Bar does not appear.
Solution: Re Install the ROM from beginning. It happened because the flashing was not done properly.

Why would you like to install it as a system app?
Installing it normally e.g. on CM9 via play store works fine.

why i like to install it in system? so that when i format the phone it will stay there
but im asking how to install it in system of the phone not on SD card....
someone help T_T
Basically you just install the Google Map first
Then install Root Browser Lite and open it (you may try other browsers but I personally prefer this)
Find and move Google Map (I don't know its exact name in there) from /data/app to /system/app
Fix the permission to rw-r--r-- (644)
Reboot
Done
Please refer to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1844923 for more info

I have a few apps like facebook google plus and google maps which are by default installed in XperiaS.
I am rooted stock ics. 45 build.
Can I remove or delete the applications from system/app cause any problems?
And I want to install them from playstore if I need them.
So anyone tell me which.directory does the app we install from playstore are installed so that i.can move apps from sys/app in that folder..
Yes you can and yes, you can easily uninstall/move them.
Use root explorer to move the app/apk that you not want to move from System/app to your SD Card Folder.
Just make sure not to delete or move any system apk, that is required to run the OS.
More Specific instructions by Redstarr1 below- so follow it, u shud b fine.

So auni already told you you can remove apps like Facebook, G+ and Gmaps easily from /system/app. If you want the app back as a "normal" app, you can:
- copy those apps to /data/app, I'd go with one of the following options though
- copy those apps to your external storage and install them like you would any other app (so once you copied the app outside of /system, press it and a dialog will open)
- delete those apps and install them from Play Store.

First of all, LP is a topic that can't really be discussed here, since it's against the warez part of the forum rules.
If you want to uninstall a system app and you do have root, you can do it via a root explorer (with MiXplorer for example). Just go to the root folder "/" then find the system folder. And you app will be in a folder inside the app or priv-app folder. "/system/app/your app" or "/system/priv-app/your app"
Delete the entire folder of your app once you found it, then reboot, and that should do it.
Remember that uninstalling system apps may brick your device (if you uninstall the wrong ones), but you want to uninstall the stock videoplayer so I don't think it is a problem.
