Why would you like to install it as a system app?
Installing it normally e.g. on CM9 via play store works fine.

but im asking how to install it in system of the phone not on SD card....
someone help T_T
Basically you just install the Google Map first
Then install Root Browser Lite and open it (you may try other browsers but I personally prefer this)
Find and move Google Map (I don't know its exact name in there) from /data/app to /system/app
Fix the permission to rw-r--r-- (644)
Reboot
Done
Please refer to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1844923 for more info

I am using Launcher Pro as my only home screen. I put it in /system and installed it (via root explorer) but it ends up in /data/app how can I make it stay in system?
why would u want it in system folder
when new versions come u will have hard time updating it
but just uninstall it place the apk file in the system/app folder then fix permissions on it and reboot and see if that works
the permissions should have checks on first column and only check the first box in second column everything else should be unchecked

you need to put it in your system/App folder using root explorer and set permissions, it can't be installed using a package installer
I've tried this method on my GS2 with the provided file and I just can't get it to work. It did work with the MicrobesGl live wallpaper though.
Hello,
You can generate a CWM script to install all share and other apps here:

Did you set the right permissions?

I deleted the DigitalClock widget by accident. I know there's plenty in market, but I liked the stock one. Anyway, I have the .apk, moved the .apk to /system/app with Root Explorer and changed the permissions (now it's rw-r--r--). But still, when trying to install, the message "Application not installed" appears.

when the app is moved into the system/app folder it is then installed, no need running the .apk through a package installer because youll just get the "Application not installed" error, this is because your trying to install a system app which is what the apk is and not a standard installable app.
once moved into the system/app folder and permissions set, check your widgets if not there do a reboot then check again, if its still not there then your doing something wrong or setting the wrong permissions.
If it's not installing, could it be because it's a Samsung app? For example the stock camera, phone and messaging apps just won't install when I'm on CM7. So I'm assuming the same is true for Allshare, though I may be wrong.

Thanks, tried all but the widget won't appear on the list. I guess something is wrong with the .apk then.

Samsung apps will only work on Samsung ROMs unless modded to work on ALL Android devices just like any other app specific to any other ROM
The app in this thread is odexed and for thus wont work with most ROMs as these are deodexed.

Tab 2 7.0 no file copy
I took down the Dnla.zip, renamed it to Dnla.apk and moved it to my Tab 2 7.0. Then I used ES File and tried to move it to Root/System /App but it fails. I understand I need to change permissions for this. How do I accomplish this without rooting the device?

Hi guys,
I have a bit of a strange problem. It seems that I lost almost all the apps on my phone. I had a crash during skiing whit my phone in my pocket and after the next restart almost all my downloaded apps are gone. When I go to "Manage applications" I can see their URI's (com.blablabla.blablabla) but when I click them it says that they no longer exist. I can install new apps that i have on the SD card so it seems that if I reinstall them I should be fine. The problem is I don have the market app, and when I try to install it from a downloaded .apk it says "Application not installed" and no additional info.
So my question is where do I go from here? Do I have to somehow clean every trace of the market and then reinstall it?
I'm running CM7.1
Any help would be awesome
You should be able to copy the market apk to your system app folder, and then set permissions to match the other apps in there, I think it's

My bad Thx
side load the market app , look for the apk of the web (maybe xda) market is called vending apk , copy to sd card then use file browser eg astro to install .
if you do not have a file browser in that rom you can send a email to yourself with the apk (be sure to have unknown sources on ) then click download after it has downloaded it should apear in your download app or status bar click it then it will allow you to install the app .

If you read my original post you 'll see that I already tried that and it's not working.
Anyway I reflashed CM7.1.
So i just installed the new BM 5.0 and i was deleting unwanted apps via Titanium Backup pro .. i was doing it so fast that i accidentally deleted task manager! now everytime i click on the widget "Active Application" it fore closes! i tried to look for the stock task manager in the app store but could not find it! is there a way to undo the delete without doing a nandroid restore?
Use the feature in Titanium that can pull apks from cwm backups. You should be able to fix it with that.

1) Open TB
2) Go to Backup/Restore
3) Option soft key
4) More
5) Extract from Nandroid backup
6) Pick Task Manager
I personally tried it once and it didn't work for me, worst comes to worst I'll upload you the JobManager.apk (I assume that's the one you're talking about? The Samsung task manager?). But I assume it works, otherwise they wouldn't include the feature.

To install it, you'll need a file explorer with root access (ES File Explorer, ROOT File Explorer, etc.). Then you'll have to move it to /system/app (to get to /system you'll have to go one level up from /sdcard to get to the root folder /). Make the permissions read "rw- r-- r--" (how you do that depends on what file explorer you use) and then reboot. Should fix the issue.

It'll be an option in root explorer along the lines of "root access". I don't know the exact process because I use ES. Play around in the settings of root explorer until you find it. By default it's disabled to prevent users from actually screwing with their system operating system without knowing what they're doing.
did not find anything under settings but there was a button that said Mount R/O or Mount R/W ... so i selected the file to move then i went to system/app thrn i clicked the mount button on the top and it worked! Thank u so much for ur help and fast responds! u really saved mr from alot of grief.

Yeah it's the same thing, you're just allowing the system position to be written to. No problem. Is your task manager working as usual now?

Was it working fine when you first installed it? Either way, there's always 5 generic steps you should always take first when trying to resolve an issue:
1) clear application data
2) reboot to recovery and clear cache
3) clear dalvik cache
4) fix permissions
5) reboot
See if that fixes your issues

ahh,next to ics rom.
Problem 1:
Some users find that the Swype is force closing, and the absence of gallery and music in App drawer.
If you face this problem, here is what you can do:
1. Using root explorer, delete Swype.apk from System/app (or) uninstall swype using link2sd.
2. Try looking for play music and gallery ics apk in system /app. If present MOVE them to SD card using root explorer. Tap rw at the top to move.
3. Reboot.
4. Install the following attached apk's in the post: SwypeICS.apk, and GalleryICS.apk, Google play music. apk or from the apks which you just moved to your SD card. For better performance of play music, again move the apk to System /app...and set permissions to rwrr. (Tick the first two boxes in the first row and the 1st box in the other two rows) and reboot.
5.Enjoy.
Problem 2:
ICS Gallery is not working on my phone.
Solution:Have you done it properly? Try again. I've fixed the link. Still if it doesn't work, I'm afraid you will have to install the old Gingerbread Gallery. Copy and paste gallery3D.apk from attachments into System/app using root explorer, set permissions to rwrr and reboot.
Problem 3:
Status Bar does not appear.
Solution: Re Install the ROM from beginning. It happened because the flashing was not done properly.
