Stock HTC Desire

How do I unroot, restore default ROM, restore default hboot and go back to S-ON. Basically 100% stock since I need to send my phone back to the provider due to hardware issues. Many thanks.

Download and run the latest ruu. Check the Desire Index thread.

Actually, you need to download the latest RUU for YOUR Desire. Did you make a note of it before flashing a new ROM?

He means the RUU specific for your carrier and handset, im guessing this would be the 3 UK one based on your avatars.

I will be grateful if you could give me the correct link for three mobile uk H3GUK for latest RUU, AS I had .93 bootloader and not sure about SLCD/AMOLED, was using miui rom 1.4.B1 and clockwork mode recovery 3.0.0.0 and radio rom 32.44 something.
I will be more than happy n thankful if someone could help me to get latest RUU for H3G UK.
when i tried to flash other RUU's it says , completed n phone is ready to use now, but screen is just black n do not work

When I tried H3G uk its saying ur phone ready to use but screen not working when i tried WWE(world wide english), it stated the customer id prob, install correct RUU.

You need a gold card for a non-3 UK RUU - sounds ike you have an SLCD screen and flashed an AMOLED RUU, hence the black screen

Out of interest, if you run available 3uk ruu and check for updates, won't it update it for you? Mine was 3uk before root and custom ROM, so might need this info at some point. Thanks

I see what you mean lol. In old Nokia days we used to change language to Chinese on the friend phones. After having it done to me a few time I could change it back with my eyes closed. LOL

Anyone got a link to the changelog??

There is NEVER a changelog for OTA updates, at least not from HTC - when will people remember this!!
The ONLY one I've ever seen was for the unbranded 1.29.401.7 OTA - you can read it here:

Orange do seem better these days with updates maybe its just because this phone is more upgradeable than my old desire.

My phone had ruu 1.29.061.11 however I bricked my phone and I need to find this RUU so I can save it. But I cannot find the full RUU anywhere

I have a copy of a non upgrading orange uk ruu. 1.26.061.2.

Thanks but I have tried this RUU and it failed. I have been told this because it wont allow you to install an older RUU then you already have. I really need the 1.29.061.11 or newer RUU because this is what my phone had before I messed it up.
(This is where I read this)

hmm maybe its only the '1.26' or the '1.29' that need to go up. Also would you know if It makes a difference if the bootloader is locked or unlocked when installing a ruu?

I imagine you're supposed to reflash the generic recovery and relock but I'd have to go have a read.
I've been holding off rooting myself in the hope of discovering s-off.

I will just have to wait for the latest orange ruu to be uploaded

Hi there,
got htc one x from oragne uk and im still waiting for the 2.17 update.
my boot loader is locked and just want to know if i flashed the ruu update file of 2.17 will it void the warranty?
if not then if some one got the ruu update file for my phone please give me link.

Need to wait for orange to release their update, I emailed asking when and got the usual crap about not knowing. The ruu is only for unbranded handsets

FYI, flash RUU will not void your warranty.. But you need the RUU to be "leaks" first..

2.17 is out on Orange : I'm orange and mine updated last week !

The RUU wont work if your handset is branded it wont flash. If you got the update and you are on orange you might have an unbranded handset.

still confused what to do..its looks like my option is to wait for official update.i know orange released the update.my mate received the update on his one x,orange branded.but mine is just always says,no update available.
if its leaked and i can flash it in my phone without voiding warranty please upload the file.

We need a clue as to which RUU you need.

Flashing the RUU will be perfectly fine with regard warranty etc.
You're looking for 2.17.061.something, my search turned up nothing.
Latest I found was 1.29.06.11

Normally p4u are unbranded, or all my previous ones have been.
Mines from orange and its got the orange boot up screen when turned on

I'm trying to understand how the whole update thing works. There's no vodafone here. Where does the update come from?

[Q] UK- No OTA for 1.54.401.5 (Sim free)

I order my phone from carphonewarehouse for a sim free and got the OTA (1.54.401.5) when I turn on the phone on Wednesday.
On Saturday, because my screen had a dead pixel, I exchange a new one, also sim free.
But this time, I check the update, I didn't got the OTA to 1.54.401.5. The current version is 1.12.401.17. Did anybody know what's happened?
My CID is HTC_001

Still now, I still haven't received the OTA, so I don't have the extreme power saver mode.

Picked mine up from CPW yesterday and also haven't had the OTA update.

Same problem here, on Vodafone.
I just got off the HTC UK chat desk, and they say they don't know when the update will be available.

For anyone has this problem, I just call the HTC custom service, they told me we need to wait our IMEI into the system, then we can have this update.

I get a cid check failure when I try and install it on my M8. Done through default recovery. Very annoying!

You (historically) need S-OFF to do that, although a CID failure would indicate you don't have HTC__001 as your CID (is yours a Three M8?)

Shouldn't need S-OFF for this as far as I know. My cid is HTC__001, generic model. It is very odd!

With all other HTC handsets, if you didn't have S-OFF you couldn't flash an OTA in stock recovery - it'd error out and reboot

So i bought my m8 some time ago on a contract from T-mobile (NL) and i'm runing software version 1.57.114.2. BUT i'm not simlocked, i used a sim card from another country and it worked (vodafone), now my real question is if i can use RUU to install 2.22.401.4? or do i have to stick to the t-mobile versions? ... 1.57.531.7 is the latest for tmo i think

As I remember there are no RUUs jet. As FW is related to MID/CID you would have to use a x.xx.114. FW , as x.xx.401 and x.xx.531. correspond to different MID/CID.

think i figured it out, my MID is t-mob003, i tried using this RUU_M8_TMOUS_1.57.531.7.exe, and it gives me an error about the MID... all i want is that extreme power saving mode...

T-MOB003 is the CID, the German T-Mobile CID is different. Does the US version have the EPSM, as the German doesn't as well?!
That's why I changed my CID to HTC_102 and installed the 2.22.401.4 FW of the WWE variant of the M8

You should be flashing RUU through fastboot. Its not an executable for windows

Historically, its always been a Windows executable. The fastboot method is new.
