My note (SM-P605) fell down from a table to floor (around 4ft height only), just half an hour back :crying:
No visible marks/ scratch externally.
The tab was on when it fell.. and it was in a book case (a MOKO well made case). I just couldn't understand that it can't withstand such a small fall? even inside a good case?
i could see the tab screen when i picked it up - but the screen was kind of washed display the YELLOW tone was MISSING when i saw. I pressed power button to shutdown.. screen went blank and no response after that. Now sometimes when i press power button, the captive buttons are turning on and I could feel a bit of vibration.. and a ring (notification tone) - no screen.
How to do a force re-start.. as I can't pull the battery.
Help please :crying:
update - I was able to connect via USB.

Connected via USB, just copied all my data. now all hardware buttons responds. (incl vol keys).. so I guess the problem is with SCREEN now. Is there any way to check screen ? mirroring or so?
That was unfortunate. My note fell from the roof of my suv while I was driving about 40mph. Remembered that it was on the roof, checked it and it was gone.
Drove back 2 miles and found it lying on the middle of the road.
Turned it on and still working. All four edges of the leather case is scratched like it rolled on the road.
You're not the first one to experience that..
Please read this thread, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2685535
Same **** happened to my note too...

Man, this would make a grown man cry. :'(

(slightly conflicting info on back cover removal, the video shows removal from front glass (so the back cover with steel painted sides will stay together) but the pictures in the above xda thread show to removing the back cover only (without the steel finished sides); I've followed the later.
My piece of tip: Since I didn't had a pry tool or any sophisticated tools for mobile repairing, I've used one of my old Credit Card! to use as a pry
Thank you all! and don't drop your tab! And for all those facing similar issues, give it a try! All the best! :good:

If You`re lucky it`s just a loose contact. If You can still hear the sounds from the splash screens I`m sure its nothing worse. Had this too and the fix is really easy once You`ve done it. I had to do it numerous times until I had a good solution. Look in the general trinity subforum, there`s a post on how to disassemble the phone. You have to do steps 1-5 to get the back cover off.
Then You can do an easy test:
- Put the battery back in again. I used some paper cut to size as underlay just to be sure not to accidently short anything should the battery move from its place.
- Hold the phone in such a way that You can apply light pressure on the battery so it stays connected. Now You can power on the phone.
- Apply some light pressure on top of the lcd connection cable (marked red in the disassembly guide) and see if You have a picture again.
- If this doesn`t help try to apply light pressure with a plastic or wood piece from the side where it vanishes in the front cover. In other words play a little bit with pressure direction.
If You get Your picture when applying pressure everything is fine cause all You have to do now is to put in something to polster out the back cover (or side cover, depending on where You pushed from when the screen came back alive). There is a small soft black sticker on the back cover that applies some pressure by default, use this as guidance. First I just rolled a piece of paper and positioned it there when I closed the cover. Didn`t hold for long. Finally I applied a sticker used on furnitures to protect wood floors. Same as vibration dampener stickers for loudspeakers. Just cut to size, stick on top of the old sticker or into the side housing and You`re good to go. Never had a problem with it again.
It sounds far more complicated as it is and You should really try it. I wish You it`s just a loose contact.
i have replaced the entire casing for my wife's T7373. all seamed to go good. when the phone boots up it is stuck in landscape mode. as if it not seeing a switch or trigger to know that the keyboard is in. also the keyboard lite stays on.
i have taken the phone apart again and still i am not sure where the switch is. all i can see is the metal contact ramps on the ends of the slide.
Any help would be great. "wife not happy"
thank you

The sensor is magnetic that 'senses' whether or not the keyboard is open.
iFixIt.com is a great site to help with teardowns/troubleshooting.
thank you , that joged my memory. well at least i hope i can get it fixed or the wife will kill me....
I also need to replace my case, the silver colored edge has cracked in a few places. Might I ask where you got your replacement case from? Any tips you can give from your experience replacing it?
for the replacement of the silver case can you find at http://www.amazon.com/Silver-Housing-HTC-Repair-Replacement/dp/B0052QW60Y
and at http://shop.brando.com/htc-touch-pro-2-replacement-back-cover-silver_p04432c1050d039.html
i got mine off e-bay http://www.ebay.com/itm/370526944677?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649
had all the parts i needed, everything worked well. only trouble i had was the the magnet for the screen rotation. remounting the brass screw inserts was fun, what i did was use one the longer screws same size. and heated the brass up and screwed the brass insert in.
other little tips. there will be little plastic parts and need re-secured. i just heated up a end of a T25 to melt the little tabs.
have fun it took me about 2 hours and , had to take part the phone a few times to make sure i got it all right.
So I bought my first ever android device the other day, an Xperia Arc S. Love it to bits, however I really am paranoid.
I haven't bought a case yet, so I dont take the phone outside (use my old phone) and I haven't got a screen protector yet either.
I was looking up screen protectors for the Arc S online and I came across a post that said apparently the phone comes pre-installed with a screen protector. Is that true? I know I have a spare set of screen protectors that came with the box, along with the HDMI cable, USB cable, Mains adapter and Headphones. However, no leather case as I've seen people mention!
I'm in the UK so it's a UK phone, and bought it Sim free and it's the white one.
If it does have a screen protector on, is the protection enough? Should I put on another screen protector, just to be safe?
yeah they come with screen protectors on. look at the corners/edges in the light and you can make it out. i've found the screen protector is enough protection, although if you are prone to dropping your phone often, you may want to consider purchasing a case/pouch.
also before you put another screen protector on, remember that screen protectors tend to dim the display as it creates another layer for the light to go through. also this extra layer means you may have to press a bit harder on the screen.
I even removed the factory applied screen protector as it was scratched up a bit and so far no scratches on the screen.

Thanks guys, so I take it it's a global thing, rather than it being region specific?
I've bought a case and pouch (hasn't been delivered yet)
Since you guys are owners of the Arc S, how do you feel about the bottom 3 buttons? Do they feel a bit loose and flimsy to you?
Got the Arc without S and the buttons don't feel lose.

Hmm that is a bit worrying. What I mean is that the other 2 buttons (back button and settings button) seem to only have one connection point (in the middle of either buttons) and because the buttons are long, as they move towards the Home button, it feels really loose, and I can press that part of it quite inwards without the phone responding?

Also I have a question, don't need to make a new thread for it I reckon:
The top of my screen (statusbar) burns in a bit, probably because of water (leaving it unprotected in a damp bathroom, I'm a dumbass). But there's another issue. I've got a lot of dead pixels in the top half of my screen, maybe ten of them, they're easy to spot on a black background. Could that be caused by suspected water damage too?
I've contacted support, and they said their logistics partner would call me to let them get my phone, but after two missed calls they haven't called in weeks (suckers).
The sticker on my battery hasn't coloured btw, and no other issues on the phone too.

Hi to everyone, I bought my nexus 2 months ago and now I found out that the side cover which frames the screen and the phone itself is loose. I can put my nail between the screen and the cover very easily and it bends. This morning when I took my phone it squeeked and it came frome the left side of the cover. Now every time I push it or touch this place it squeeks, it's like there is a free space. Another problem I found is that the phone has very dirt and dust at the bottom between the screen and the frame, and when I blowed there thia morning to get it out the glass at the very bottom (not the screen) under the soft keys sweated from inside. I don't know what to do. If I bring it to my operator to fix it or replace it they may say that I have dropped it and from that is the problem

Well, your options are limited, and if you don't want to spoil your warranty I would take it back to the store you bought it from.

So while walking downstairs to my basement, I tried to put my phone back into my pocket and it slipped and dropped on the hard floor. It dropped about 4 ft and it had a hard plastic case around it (one of the Korean model cases with the small section exposed though). The glass screen protector I had on it cracked, but the actual screen is fine. I tried turning the phone back on, but only the notification light comes on and it keeps blinking green and blue.
EDIT: So I guess the LCD is broken cause the digitizer is completely intact and there's no indication that the phone was even dropped. Usually its the other way around.....

The only new thing that I discovered was that the backlight is probably broken. I can see a very faint image of the LG boot logo and the carrier logo when the phone boots up, but it just hangs there and the LED keeps blinking till the battery runs out/is taken out so I don't know what else is up.

No cracks at all. The only crack I had was on my tempered glass screen protector. I thought it was the actual screen, but I took it off and the screen was unscathed.

Take it back to and tell them that the phone just stopped working. I'm sure they will fix it under warranty.

Ive just dropped mine from sitting on the loo, 2 foot drop if that and again, wont turn the screen on led flashed blue/green omg, not having a good day after being late for work cos the car ran out of petrol while I was scraping the windows, then broke the key off in the lock for the shed, had to break into my shed only to find the petrol can was empty, defrosted my wife's car and went n got some petrol in the can, fitted the filler pipe to the can, on putting the petrol in the car the pipe snapped off so had to go hunting for another, now I've just dropped my sodding phone gurrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Ive just shined a light on it and it is on and working but screen is black without the torch, managed to turn brightness to full, no better.
Update, phone was deemed not repairable by my phone insurance through my bank so they sent me a brand new one yummy ?
