Un-rooting, and reclaiming Warranty? - HTC One X

Guy i have my HOX since 1 year i rooted it and was running nice and good. The problem is today i flashed a new ROM and i noticed that i have a bad yellow tint on my display :/
Is it possible to go all natural back to stock and claiming Warranty back ? If yes, can u send me a link for Thread where i can follow the steps ? Thanks!

that yellow spot should be fixed by HTC even if you have custom rom...just go back to stock and send it in...but don't ask how to go back to stock there are several threads

Question about warranty and root

If I root my mobile, do I lose my warranty? if so why because it only changes the software layer.
Because they can.
Sucks don't it.
By the way. A void warranty does NOT affect your statutory rights.
Un-rooting is easy enough, if you ever need to send it back.

The problem with that is that the reason you will want to claim on your warranty is because your phone has failed in some way. Often, that failure can mean you can't unroot.
However, in my experience, HTC don't check the firmware of completely dead devices.

mmhhh...if i flash my original o2 ruu rom (from the o2 site) i lost custom recovery and also i have to root it again with unrevoked 3..!!??
with kind regards...Alex
Unfortunately for Telus users, there's no way to return back to stock. There is currently no 2.1 RUU for SLCD screens, let alone a specific one to telus.
I had some dead pixels on my Telus Desire, it was rooted, and i just exchanged it in store and noone even turned it on. I doubt you will ever encounter any trouble, as most of the front end staff won't know what rooting looks like.

[Q] Warranty question

Hi
I have a question before sending my HTC back for the wifi repair to HTC.
If I make a nandroid backup of my existing custom rom, then unroot the phone, when I reroot the phone once i get it back, can I simply use the nandroid backup I had made to restore everything once I have re-rooted?
Thanks

Yep, ofcourse you can.
To be honest you need to re-lock your bootloader also.
And hopefully your lucky enough to be one of the people that gets a warranty fix even though your unlocked and rooted.
As many people get turned away.

Ok, thanks, its worth a try
I made a nandroid backup of my stock rom and also have the boot.img for the stock rom. I assume that if I flash these 2 first and then lock the bootloader? Is that correct?
if it is correct - is it simple to lock the bootloader?

Hi, yeah thats correct mate.
Easiest way is to flash the correct RUU for you phone. Im sorry but I don't know how to get the correct RUU perhaps someone else could help.
What I do know is that you can never fully "lock" the bootloader again, it will say "Re-Locked" and not "Locked" all you can do is hope they do not check the bootloader.
Hope this helps

If they check it and see it says relocked and then refuse to repair it is the same as me leaving it unlocked?? So i may as well leave it as it is?

Definately, if they boot the phone and see CWM, TWRP, Titanium, SuperSU/SuperUSer they'll know straight away you are rooted.
Remove anything you possibly can that will identify a rooted unit.

Using their repair tracking page, the current status is "in repair" so it's looking good. The status just changed an hour ago though so there's still plenty of time for them to call with bad news.

Warranty VOID?
I needed to send my phone in, but I don't have the sticker on the back, or the box, and there's no way for me to get to the settings on the phone, because the screen stopped working.
Will HTC still be able to service my phone, or is the warranty considered void?

HTC repair is bull**** just for the record. I have 4G Slides on the rest of my lines, ALL of which had to be sent in.
2 of those phones took nearly 45 [FORTY FIVE] days to get back to me. Apparently there was a hold for parts coming in from Taiwan. They wouldn't tell me which parts. They wouldn't even give me an estimate time. HTC didn't apologize or update me on my repair. I found all this out after numerous calls day after day.
But if you thought that was bad service, you'll love this...
The third phone was sent out and came back fairly quickly. Within a week. I was so happy to get my phone back.
Opened the box and GUESS WHAT?
HTC SENT ME THE WRONG PHONE
They sent me a completely different phone for a different carrier (HTC Evo 4G for Sprint). It was very beat up as well.
I swear, if it wasn't for their designs (which I love dearly) I would've dropped the company by now...
Sorry for the rant/threadjack. Thought you guys would like to hear a horror story. I'm done
does anyone know how to remove the super su app and the clockwork recovery? everything else is now back to stock as i did a nandroid back up immediately after rooting initially
thanks

Getting warrany back

I bought my HTC one X a few months ago, and i rooted it as soon as i got the device. I did not test any part of the phone, and now, it turns out that my camera is faulty. Is there some way to get my warranty back?
Thank you very much.

I think if you have just root and have supersu app you can unroot from superuser app options, and when you rooted you flashed TWRP or CWM recovery so you need also to reverse to stock recovery, but to find stock recovery need more info, your CID and sw main-version to find matching stock recovery.img! And you also can relock bootloader after doing all that that i was mentioned!
But warranty depends from country to country so..maybe you dont need revert to stock at all, some members didnt and repair service didnt ask anything!

Hey thanks for replying
I have done all those, but on my bootloader, it says "RELOCKED". Will that have an affect? is there a way to get rid of that?
Nope....they will always see that your bootloader was unlocked before. So basically getting warranty is a guess. If its a real hardware problem you will get warranty, but if they can prove it was software then you probably won't
Everything like Mr Hofs said..."RELOCKED" status is fixed for now...and when you unlocked bootloader unfortunately you agree for new warranty condition..
I really hope that htc will fix my phone because my radio is stuffing up too
If thats the case, ill just have to bring the phone in and see what happens
thanks for your help people

Return to stock

I rooted my phone and flashed some custom rom.
It's 1 year the usb port is not working anymore and now I want to repair the phone (still in warranty) so I'll send it at HTC service shop. I don't wanna have problems with the warranty, it's only an hardware problem, so I want to go back to stock beacuse they HAVE TO fix my problem, even if the problem is not related with the root.
Is there a way to return to stock not using the usb port but only the SD card?
I'd want to be more stock as possible, so first I have to find the stock rom (and I think I can't use the RUUs because of the USB not working).
Then I should return to stock recovery and to stock bootloader, but I totally don't know how to do it.
Please help me, I don't want to change phone, I love my WFS...Thanks!

"still in warranty" u lost when u unlock bootloader Sorry u try find other service, or servicer where work ur good friends
Due it is a hardware related problem HTC should repair the USB port. If your device is a European one you can flash a tool by theq86 to lock your bootloader then flash when you are on cm Rom stock recovery then flash crossfire77 perfectly stock not even rooted Rom.

HTC One X G-sensors not working all of a sudden!

Hey guys... My friend bought an HTC One X second hand. It is rooted with what seems to be stock 4.0.3 Sense 4.0. The phone is also S-OFF and everything.. I will post pictures of it.
So here's the deal:
My friend was watching a movie but suddenly he felt as if the screen wasn't rotating... Now (According to AndroSensor App) the magnetic field, orientation, gyroscope, accelerometer etc... In short.. All of the GRAVITY SENSORS and the orientation sensors aren't working.. They are DETECTED by the app but say "Waiting for event"
tried hard resetting and everything. I have put many Custom ROMs in phones before. So i can flash ROMs etc if i have to
I have attached the pictures about everything and need help.. Alot appreciated thanks.

My question is that "CAN I FLASH A SENSE 5 (4.2.2) ROM ON THIS BAD BOY BY JUST FLASHING VIA RECOVERY?"
I'll then check the other powering off and stuff i read till i get my hands on my frnd's HOX. Cuz im a bit busy waiting for the Nexus 5 launch o.o

you should update it first, that is a very old version, you should have updates available. as it is s-off you can flash anything you want but I think you will need to update the hboot first, once that is done you have a lot of options available to you

Go to settings and check for an update. What we all recommend is that you send it to HTC, all untampered One Xs should still be in warranty, so send it to them, if it can't be fixed they'll send you a One X or a One X+, or sometimes they could send a HTC One if you're lucky :/

Oh i'll get right on it when i get my hands on the device can i request you to stay put to this thread? Cuz i will report back here
if you flash a custom recovery you can do anything you want, ie flash a rom, sense or no sense, or flash back to stock and because you are s-off you can even change your cid to install an update from a different region.
this can go on and on and people are starting to repeat themselves and you have had all the information you need to move forward. so what you need to do, as you say you cannot fix under warranty, is :- let the phone update via ota, this will update everything including the rom, the version of sense and the hboot. then once it is finished with all ota's available you can install a custom recovery( I recommend philz touch recovery or the latest twrp) and then you can flash all the rom's or mods you like.
and if you find you still have a problem with sensors check @HTC Venom signature for a possible solution

i got them back except for temperature sensor....althought i did this thing several times, but once it worked out...i restarted the phone by long pressing the power button, even after the TURN OFF menu appears...on the start screen pressed volume down button to go in safe mode, all sensors started working, then i restarted mobile to come in normal mode.
working fine uptil now, i dont have restarted or powered off after that. so dont know if they will keep working after restart or again same problem will occur
all the people having same problem, just keep on trying restarts, safe mode, factory reset etc etc most probably they will start working. its just hit and trial
