Return to stock - HTC Wildfire S

I rooted my phone and flashed some custom rom.
It's 1 year the usb port is not working anymore and now I want to repair the phone (still in warranty) so I'll send it at HTC service shop. I don't wanna have problems with the warranty, it's only an hardware problem, so I want to go back to stock beacuse they HAVE TO fix my problem, even if the problem is not related with the root.
Is there a way to return to stock not using the usb port but only the SD card?
I'd want to be more stock as possible, so first I have to find the stock rom (and I think I can't use the RUUs because of the USB not working).
Then I should return to stock recovery and to stock bootloader, but I totally don't know how to do it.
Please help me, I don't want to change phone, I love my WFS...Thanks!

"still in warranty" u lost when u unlock bootloader Sorry u try find other service, or servicer where work ur good friends

Due it is a hardware related problem HTC should repair the USB port. If your device is a European one you can flash a tool by theq86 to lock your bootloader then flash when you are on cm Rom stock recovery then flash crossfire77 perfectly stock not even rooted Rom.

[Q] I've some questions before Rooting my first Android phone

Hi all, ..
I've decided to root my One X but before that I want to know some things and ask some questions:-
1- What are all the side effects for unlocking the bootloader & rooting the device ??
2- After we root the device could we return the phone as it came exactly from the factroy ?? means locked again .. no root .. all side effects will disappear ??
3- What are the difference between Hboot & Bootloader ??
4- Are Kernal & Boot Image are exactly the same ??
5- What is Fastboot exactly ??
Sorry for my questions but it the first time I'll root my phone so I want to take care
And thanks in advance
Please .. Any help !!

1 - There are no side effects that come from rooting the phone, the side effects can arise when you flash a dirty rom, but thats the joys of rooting I guess. Trying different roms/kernels until you find the combination you love.
2- After rooting, you cannot go completely back. Instead of your bootloader saying Locked, it will say RE-Locked, so they will know something is up. But apparantly if the issue is hardware caused, such as the WiFi issue, then I think they still repair under warranty.
3 - To be honest I can't answer that one, im sorry !
4 - No they are not the same, a Kernel is what communicates with the hardware, and passes that information back to the software and vice versa. Without the kernel, the hardware/software would have no way of communicating.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=ROM-VS-Kernel
5 - Fastboot is how you modify your bootloader, which is how you flash the boot.img in order to not make the phone bootloop when installing a custom rom.
Hope thats helpful !
Hi the only bad side effects are if you do something wrong
You can return back to stock usein ruu's but not back to locked
Ye a boot.IMG is a kernel and I no of some noob friendly tools to help you unlock and fastboot kernels without having to do it manual wich helps
If you won't help through all the steps I'm welcome to help

So, actually, the boot.img is a binary file, that contains the kernel and the ramdisk.
mmmmmmm I'm now confused !!
According to:-
1- I know the rooting will make the warranty gone and also I won't be able to update OTA !! so how to avoid these problems
2- There are difference between Locked & Relocked ?? And if I relocked my phone the warranty will come back & I'll be able to update OTA ??
3- No one had answered me !!
4- I have three different answeres !!
5- I still don't know the meaning of Fastboot
And thanks to every one who had answered .. +1 thanks to every one
And I hope thant you answer me ...

1/2) You can unlock to install OTA. Even if you lose warranty, you are usually protected by consumer law in your country.
3) Spelling
4) I'm right, if you keep asking, you'll have 4 answers
5) Fastboot is a setting that allows you to more quickly boot your phone. It also breaks some apps.
5) Fastboot is a tool for flashing bootloader and recovery on your phone, as well as other diagnostic tasks.

1- Means that the warranty won't come back ??
2- What are the difference between Locked & Relocked ?? or it's just spelling difference ??
3- Okay
4- hahahaha .. Okay
5- I know fastboot the setting but fastboot the tool I want to know it more & more .. why we need to flash bootloader & recovery even that we have it .. and how we flash the bootloader even that the fastboot mode we get it from the bootloader (Hboot) !!
+1 for your help
there is no difference between locked and relocked. Relocked means you had unlocked the bootloader and Now htc knows about it.
You can not flash custom roms from stock recovery, Since there is no option to flash the zip files. For that you need to install CWM

Yes there is a problem.. by unlocking the bootloader you may void your warranty. By this means Htc have the authority to reject your warranty claims. But at some places they accept the relocked bootloader under the warranty. It all depends on place, service center.. and the answer of your 2nd ques would be yes.. you could do it as many times you want. And you could also get the official OTA updates. So decision is yours.. check your phone for any defect. Then think about unlocking the bootloader.

I have a small question .. how could I know that my phone comes with warranty ?? as I bought the phone from eBay without warranty but in the box there is a Warranty Statement !!
warranty statement does not matter.. If you have the bill you may contact HTC if your phone comes under warranty or not?
but since you bought it without warranty.. So I doubt there would be any chance that it may come under any sort of warranty.

Okay Okay >> THANKS
Hboot is your bootloader. Like you get different types of bios menu for different pcs
Hboot is your bootloader not anything else. there are different hboots out there but they are all bootloaders (you could call it bios).
This means they tell your phone what to do when you press the power on button when it's off or you hold the volume down key and power on

The phone was released end of march or april I believe. In that case you have warranty till March april 2014 by default as all phones come with 2 year warranty and your phone cannot possible be older than march as it was not available before then. So every single one x without a receipt had warranty till 2 years from release date
Even HTC know that so don't worry.

I don't believe that to be true, for the first two years of a phone released, you can do without the bill receipt. If you were say to buy a HTC Desire HD a year ago brand new, as its 3 years old the build now; the receipt would be needed to prove you bought it within the last 2 years and not on release. But for a phone that has just been released you do not need to prove this, even HTC know you couldnt have had it more than 6 months
Are there any disadvantages of unlocking the bootloader to root?
As custom ROMs/bootloaders will not be able to receive OTA updates from HTC, is there anything that an update from HTC can do which custom ROMs cannot. (e.g. low level power management and performance enhancement stuff)?

OMG!!!!
HBoot = the partition table on your phone. It's essentialy the way that the internal space is partitioned.
If you have let's say 5Gb of internal memory then yoy can partition it let's say like this:
1. System - 1Gb - where your ROM is installed
2. Cache - 2Gb - the cache for the sys apps and apps installed on internal
3. Data - The rest - where the apps are installed.
But to be perfectly honnest I really don't know why there would be any talk about HBoot as long we don't even have S-Off even, whem that is manditory.
As for the bootloader... That is the procces of booting the operating system in android, or any other OS. This tells the phone what to boot and what to start and in what order....
Hope it helps some of you.
Talking about HBoot I really don't think we'll be needing a different one any time soon as the sys partition is more then enought for the existing ROMs out there... for now at least. This was used mostly when you would've had a internal memory like 512 Mb and you'd use a sd-card's EXT2/EXT3 partition as internal memory for cache or data...
Hope it's more helpfull than confussing.
Rgds.

Unique solution that i think possible if you can't flash in bootloader is using stock zip flashable file, passed with airdroid and flash stock but you can't flash stock recovery without bootloader, for lock bootloader i saw trickster mod ( root app ) option but is experimental
Are you sure that is Phone problem and not driver on PC/Usb port damaged on pc? it's strange :/

Getting warrany back

I bought my HTC one X a few months ago, and i rooted it as soon as i got the device. I did not test any part of the phone, and now, it turns out that my camera is faulty. Is there some way to get my warranty back?

I think if you have just root and have supersu app you can unroot from superuser app options, and when you rooted you flashed TWRP or CWM recovery so you need also to reverse to stock recovery, but to find stock recovery need more info, your CID and sw main-version to find matching stock recovery.img! And you also can relock bootloader after doing all that that i was mentioned!
But warranty depends from country to country so..maybe you dont need revert to stock at all, some members didnt and repair service didnt ask anything!

Hey thanks for replying
I have done all those, but on my bootloader, it says "RELOCKED". Will that have an affect? is there a way to get rid of that?
Nope....they will always see that your bootloader was unlocked before. So basically getting warranty is a guess. If its a real hardware problem you will get warranty, but if they can prove it was software then you probably won't
Everything like Mr Hofs said..."RELOCKED" status is fixed for now...and when you unlocked bootloader unfortunately you agree for new warranty condition..
I really hope that htc will fix my phone because my radio is stuffing up too
If thats the case, ill just have to bring the phone in and see what happens
thanks for your help people

HTC One X G-sensors not working all of a sudden!

Hey guys... My friend bought an HTC One X second hand. It is rooted with what seems to be stock 4.0.3 Sense 4.0. The phone is also S-OFF and everything.. I will post pictures of it.
So here's the deal:
My friend was watching a movie but suddenly he felt as if the screen wasn't rotating... Now (According to AndroSensor App) the magnetic field, orientation, gyroscope, accelerometer etc... In short.. All of the GRAVITY SENSORS and the orientation sensors aren't working.. They are DETECTED by the app but say "Waiting for event"
tried hard resetting and everything. I have put many Custom ROMs in phones before. So i can flash ROMs etc if i have to
I have attached the pictures about everything and need help.. Alot appreciated thanks.

you should update it first, that is a very old version, you should have updates available. as it is s-off you can flash anything you want but I think you will need to update the hboot first, once that is done you have a lot of options available to you

Go to settings and check for an update. What we all recommend is that you send it to HTC, all untampered One Xs should still be in warranty, so send it to them, if it can't be fixed they'll send you a One X or a One X+, or sometimes they could send a HTC One if you're lucky :/

Oh i'll get right on it when i get my hands on the device can i request you to stay put to this thread? Cuz i will report back here
if you flash a custom recovery you can do anything you want, ie flash a rom, sense or no sense, or flash back to stock and because you are s-off you can even change your cid to install an update from a different region.
this can go on and on and people are starting to repeat themselves and you have had all the information you need to move forward. so what you need to do, as you say you cannot fix under warranty, is :- let the phone update via ota, this will update everything including the rom, the version of sense and the hboot. then once it is finished with all ota's available you can install a custom recovery( I recommend philz touch recovery or the latest twrp) and then you can flash all the rom's or mods you like.
and if you find you still have a problem with sensors check @HTC Venom signature for a possible solution

working fine uptil now, i dont have restarted or powered off after that. so dont know if they will keep working after restart or again same problem will occur
all the people having same problem, just keep on trying restarts, safe mode, factory reset etc etc most probably they will start working. its just hit and trial

Hi!
I supose you know the basics.
Tou need:
- a stock rom for your device
- the bootloader
Flash you device with Odin in both cases.
1- flash the stock rom
2- flash the bootloader
3- using the bootloader, flash SU
then reboot, and now you have two option, you can wait Play store detects the update or you can open SU
The SU app ask you for an update, you tell yes, of course.
The Su app ask for two methods os installation, you select Normal
Hope this helps you, else, always you can put a stock rom and try something else.
