[Q] Beanstalk Rom low memory message - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am using Beanstalk rom Release 2, on my HTC Desire Bravo, The rom works perfectly fine, but I am facing some issues ,The internal memory fills up and there is no space for new apps to be install and Insufficient memory error message appears when i tried to install other apps, I do both the options as described in the thread ::
"" Install Mounts2SD - Manual method:
- Install Mounts2SD app through the play store
- Open Mounts2SD > Menu > Application Settings > Install Startup Script
- Click the wrench icon in Mounts2SD. Under the Content header, enable Applications and Dalvik Cache.
*Dont be confused by that fact that they seem to already seem to be checked. They are not. You must click on them so that the checkmark become green*
*Grey checkmark = disabled. Green checkmark = enabled*
- Reboot (might take a while)
OR
Install Mounts2SD - Easy method:
- Flash this zip (h_t_t_p://www.mediafire.com/download/3y4n4bbd9ga93zu/M2SD_Apps%2BDalvik.zip)
- Reboot (might take a while)
But i still got low memory error and my second problem is when i tried to reply sms from status bar with quick reply option rom crashes and the phone reboots.
I want to post that on that thread as a reply but unfortunately it said that "You don't have the rights to do so"
The Rom thread is: h_t_t_p://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2651790 (Remove the underscores from http, as i don't have the rights to post a link too )
Plz help !!

Did you partition your sd card as per the instructions in the first post?
You will also gain a little more space by flashing the 250/5/182 hboot in the same post (search for a guide how to flash them, I recommend via fastboot)

Is this actually related to the process of partitioning ?
---------- Post added at 08:56 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:42 PM ----------
I have a desire s-off.. I installed the beanstalk R2 just a while back.. Installation went smooth..everything works fine with all already noted problems..
the real problem is coming with mounts2sd installation.. tried the app from playstore.. it did not install the script saying the deice is s-on.. My desire bootloader still shows s-off and am on 4ext which requires s-off.. i tried flashing the zip which also failed.
i then tried the older version of mounts2sd.. still the same error..
finally i tried links2sd in desperation which also refused installation of the script..
what seems to be the problem here ? I cant move forward without a2sd support.

It has everything to do with partitioning.
Mount2sd or any a2sd method requires a correctly partitioned sdcard.
So guess I may as well ask you too...did you partition your sdcard as per the instructions in the first post?

I partitioned the sd card a long time back through PC method.. It worked all well with all the roms which provide a2sd script inbuilt.. never faced any problem.
If at all the partitioning wasnt correct then how did the script work all those times?

SOLVED
The problem was insufficient space on system partition so the script wont get installed..I am using a custom 225 hboot.. The mounts2sd app kept giving error about s-on which misdirected the whole issue.

A short but immensely interesting and informative thread
Lessons learned
1. There are no issues with formatting cards under windows provided the card is good and the format settings are correct. (check the settings not the tool)
2. Utilities are just as crap at understanding what went wrong as we are
3. We as often get to the right answer for the wrong reasons, as the wrong answer for the right reasons
Thank You chaps. Entertaining and enlightening.

I partitioned memory card as directed by using 4ext recovery , and i always did the same with a2sd script roms , and they worked perfectly fine.
First Mounts2sd says your device is S on, then i again run and then it goes all well, But after installing some apps insufficient space message appears, what to do ????

[Q] not enough free internal storage

Hey there,
I'm new here and I installed this ROM on my Desire:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1315961&page=101
Now my problem is that there are only 14 MB free Space of internal storage.
My EXT partition is 2048 MB and I installed "App2SD Pro"
If I open App2Sp Pro I only see 2 of the preinstalled apps
First is "ADFree" in "Phone only" category (I moved it to the SD card)
Second is "ASTRO" in "On phone" category.
Why it's unpossible for me to move the preinstalled apps (like "My Tracks" "teeter" "Facebook" "Fb Chat" and so on) to the SD card?
Greetings from Germany
Daniel Luib
Try S2E.
It allows to move apps, data and cache to the EXT partition.
You'll find it on the Market
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA Premium App
Hey,
I've tried it. Without success.
I chose all options to move on SD card. And then I pushed the "menu" button on my Desire and pushed the option "Reboot" in the App because it appeared below each option to move on SD that an reboot is required.
But my Desire didn't reboot.
Then I rebootet it normal. After reboot I opened the App and there still was the message that a reboot is required.
Do you have another suggestion?

i'm afraid this advice is wrong...
quote from S2E market page: "S2E (simple2ext) works only with CyanogenMod7!"
ROM mentioned in OP is runnymede...
i don't use either rom, but i think reading this might help.
it'll help your understanding of A2SD+

You're right. I'm sorry I just didn't realize it
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA Premium App
Why you use App2SD with this rom? Runnymede has A2SD++ on it (then moves apps to ext partition) and may be that App2SD (wich moves apps to fat32 partition) will conflict with it.
Titanium in the first page tells you the usage of the ext partition.
Is your ext partition an ext4? Is it primary and after the Fat32 partition?
Finally, I don't think that is possible to move preinstalled apps to ext with A2SD++, but only your downloaded apps and only the relevant part of it, a little (very little) part remains on the phone. Anyway may be i'm wrong.
Yes, I have an ext4 partition but I don't know wether it's before or after the fat32 partition.
But if it's impossible to move preinstalled apps to SD the ROM I installed is silly because there are only about 14 MB of internal storage left.
I'll try it once again.
Another question:
The link from my first Post
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1315961
Do I have to install the "HBOOT CM7r2" version or the "STOCK HBOOT" version?
How can I find out?

are you s-off or s-on? it sounds like you are s-on. therefore, after flashing the rom, flash the rom converter that is available as an addon on the first page. you should get more storage.
what means s-on and s-off?
what's the difference?

s-off is basically full root. when you s-off, you can change the system partition of your phone to get more space for data internally. reboot into bootloader to find out, but i'm pretty sure that you are s-on.
It's S-ON.
How can I flash it so S-OFF.
Is this working with "unrevokedĀ³"?
unrevoked is to root. use alpharev. search for it.
I've downloaded it and I'll seach tomorrow for an instruction and then I make my Desire S-OFF =)
See you tomorrow!

[Q] CID incorrect

Hi guys !
I installed some time ago, HenseMod (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1434497).
at the end of the post I saw this marked: "If you Have Used the partitioning and want to Try Another ROM, undo the partitioning!
First make sure You have a ROM on your SD card.
Then go to Recovery: factory reset, wipe Dalvik cache and system size.
Then Reflash CWM Recovery and install your new ROM. "
Now I would install a new ROM.
I made the first steps, but I'm stuck at "Then Reflash CWM Recovery and install your new ROM", in fact, when I try to flash CWM, I get this error: "CID inccorect! Updater Fail! Press <POWER> to reboot. "
If someone could help me, would really nice.
PS: sorry for my bad English, it is not my native language.
Hi
I think U did this same mistake like me.
U use root beside root for marvel.
I make that mistake and i try find some fix because i get some weird stuff going on whit my phone.
Ok, if you find it, plz tell me on this post or by PM.
CID errors can usually be overcome by generating a Goldcard and inserting it into the MicroSD slot.
maybe this link can help you http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1213229&page=13

First of all this is a almost two year old thread......that means it's DEAD. It is not at all the place to ask a question.
And 2nd read the thread--- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=919326 of link2SD search before you post and you don't move the apps to SD-Card you link them that's why it's called "LINK2SD". Next time do some searching before posting

[Q] No "partition sdcard"

Hi,
I'm running MildWild V-4.8 on my Desire, and I got a 8 GB class 10 sd-card i would like to partition.
I've been reading a lot about it, but they all seem to use clockworkmod recovery mode "advanced > "partition sdcard". I dont have that option, bc it just doesnt appear on my phone.. what do i do? How could a partition my sd-card and make it a "part of" the internal memory?
Kind regards
Christoffer
Ps. I think i did a fair search of the forum already, but if i've i missed a the answer somewhere then im sorry!
I'm not sure who "they"are, but I use 4ext recovery to partition mine, just boot to recovery and see which you have.
Be aware I'm pretty sure partitioning will erase ALL data on the card!

I tried out the 4ext recovery, but it didnt manage to partition it, so instead i partitioned it (2gb ext3) on my computer following this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/SD_card_partitioning.
I then used s2e and selected Applications, Dalvik cache and Download cache before i rebooted.
My phone still says that the internal memory is148 mb? What did i miss ?
NB. I partitioned and used s2e on C7, do I have to re-flash before it will see my sd-card?
Strange that 4 ext didn't work, even though your phone is still reporting limited storage, if things are working as they should add you install apps that should remain roughly the same. Maybe download something to see?

I tried installing it, and i removed rom-manager, but whenever i rebooted i got into clockworkmod recovery, which does not give me the option of partition the sd-card.
I will try using gparted instead, but my question still remains.
Once they card has been formated, is there anything else i need to do besides s2e and reboot it? I've been doing some google-search and i've read about hboot and even flashing the phone again? Is this really something i need to do, or should my phone se the ext3 as internal harddrive right after i've run s2e and rebooted it?

i also recommend gparted, it's the best method alongside 4ext recovery. step 5 here is better.
do not use S2E, read the app description: "S2E works only with CyanogenMod7, CyanogenMod9 and CyanogenMod10". also, you don't need to do anything else to move apps to sd-ext with this ROM.
the reason it shows only 148MB is because you are on stock hboot. basically your current system size is 250MB, and the rom's system size is only about 110MB, wasting 140MB.
you need to s-off and change hboot to cm7r2 hboot to maximise space. it has a system size of 145MB. (there are ways to optimise it further but this will be the easiest way for you.)
It will still only show 287MB of internal afterwards, and it will never 'see' the partition. keep your apps on 'internal', this should trick your apps to sd-ext.
so...
- backup your apps etc using titanium or similar
- backup your sd to computer
- repartition sd using gparted guide exactly
- copy everything back to sd
- s-off if you haven't already
- change to cm7r2 hboot (search for guides, i recommend using fastboot, set it up and read the fastboot bit here).
- reboot into recovery, full wipe and flash rom.
- restore apps, keep them on internal as suggested.
- use another app like 'diskusage' to browse all your partitions, you should see your sd-ext filling up with app apks and dalvik cache as expected.
- internal memory will still decrease as app data is still stored on internal nand, but it will do so much slower, and 287MB should be plenty for app data.
sounds like a faff, but the guides and info are already there for a reason...you'll be using the space more efficiently, and hopefully understand a bit more how things work and where everything is...

[Q] HTC desire (bravo) - internal storage cm10

Hi!
Before i state my question i have to say you guys do an incredible job!!:good:
I havent done any rooting or using custom rom before the past four days. I`ve read lots at this forum but regarding my problem the solutions suggested there concerns older builds.
I just flashed to CM10.1 VJ Jelly Bean 4.2.1 v4.5 and it is smooth.
The only thing i havent been able to do is to extend the internal storage on my HTC Desire.
I have the ext4 partition running and i do see the drive in the app "titanium backup" as "SD card (a2sd)" 1GB(914MB free)
but in "FreeSpace" the Ext partition shows space used 0%. in settings-> storage the internal memory is total 148MB as usual.
I might be wrong in asuming that im supposed to see an enlargement of my internal storage?
I followed the instructions made by vijendrahs, the release notes for CM10.1 VJ Jelly Bean 4.2.1 v4.5.
the execute A2SD script seems to woork fine.
I tried to download the S2E at google play but after flashing from CM10_VJ_4.1.2_v2.2, it wasn`t available for download. might be due to the terminal emulator provided?
Im really trying to boost the memory on my phone but all my effort the recent days i haven`t been able to find a solution. i might be doing something wrong.
Any one got any idea, how to make this work?
help is much appreciated.
im sorry this post isn`t short as it is supposed to be.

You aren't supposed to 'see' the internal memory enlarge. That happens only if you install an int2sd script. What you have there is an A2sd script, that only moves data/app to ext.

thx for reply!
then i have learned something new this day to
i have browsed the int2sd, would be nice to have them both working even if its basically the same thing.
my rom would probably crash if i flash it so ill leave it for a later testing run.
afaik its only a softlink (/data -> /sd-ext/data), so u dont see it directly.
Hello auto82,

Did you tried the in2sd ? How is it going ? Do you have more space ? Its fast ?

If you have a fast sd-card, like class 6, it's fast. If you don't, just install m2sd and only move app and dalvik to sd.

[Q] int2ext+ problem after reboot - SOLVED

Due to low internal memory, I decided to flash my sister's HTC WFS with new firmware which supports int2ext+. Tried with "stock rom by crossfire 77" and "Marvellous Sense3.5 by Kevinjoa" (both great roms :good: ) but on both appeared the same problem. After installation of int2ext+ and first reboot - everything go OK (everything from google play install without error, everything runs nice), but after second reboot downloaded apps dissapear or "force close" window pop up (google play show only install option - not run or uninstall on apps that was already installed). What should i do ? Or what i do wrong ? Before installation of new firmware, everything was wiped, sd card has two partition (FAT32 ~ 7GB, EXT ~ 1GB - partitioned by CWM and formatted). Phone shows in settings ~ 700 MB of free internal memory. Please help.

For the best bugless rom you could flash stock (marvellous sense 2.1 or the perfectly stock rom with extra features). They all work perfectly with int2ext

Tried with both you mentioned (now is Marvellous Sense 3.5) - without solution. Maybe my HTC WFS is weird (maybe its 2012 edition, but how to check it ? )

I dunno how to check, but if you have 2012 wfs, it should not even boot except if you have the right kernel. Maybe you have a faulty sdcard?

Ok i recomend you the rom that i use : CyanogenMod 10.1-20130703-4.3-F-NIGHTLY-marvel plus cron mod.
I have that rom and it works fine but you must remember "do not turn the advance power setting on" if you turn it on every time you restart your WFS you lose your data.
You can find the rom on this forum just look for it
If you need any help with it just send me a message i help you with it.
Thanks for all replies - I solved problem yesterday.
This is what i used to do (errors appears after that):
1. Wipe everything using recovery,
2. Flash new rom (Sense 3.5 wit int2ext+ ),
3. Partition SD card using ClockWordMod 5.0.2.8 (1GB Ext 3, rest Fat32).
4. First reboot everything works great,
5. Next reboots - errors and FC appears. - STOP
This is what i made yesterday (no errors):
1. Partition SD card using MiniTool Partition (750 MB Ext4, rest Fat32),
2. Wipe everything using recovery (SD card not inserted because: 1st - I format it in MiniTool Partiton. 2nd - to eliminate clockworkmod format error ?)
3. Insert SD card and flash new rom (again Sense 3.5 with int2ext+).
4. EVERYTHING WORKS (even after multiplie reboots, with fastboot option enabled) NO ERRORS - yupii
Now other questions - what I made wrong in the past ?
- Partition was too big ?
- Ext3 filesystem caused this errors ?
- ClockWordMod 5.0.2.8 has bug in format option ?

First of all when i wrote you the problem with advance reboot i meen not the option in regular settings.
I wrote you about Cyanogenmod in this rom there is an option that coused problems.
I recommend you to format your card with minitool with every rom you want to flash next time.
I am certain that the clockwork format is failing becouse the only thing you changed was formating the card with minitool.
Every time i try new rom i format my card with minitool and i have no problems with any rom (if the rom has no bugs itself)
I've once made partitions with clockwork and then my rom has several problems so i use minitool from then.
Right now i have 8gb card and i always do the same partitions : 1st Fat32 (about 5700mb) 2nd Ext3 (about 1100mb) 3rd Linux swap (rest of the card ) and everything and all the roms i'm flashing goes well and without any problems.
If you want to reduce the time to whipe everything on your WFS i recommend you SuperWipeMarvelcEdition when you flash it you format and whipe everything from your HTC.

Dude thank you for this! It was my first time using scripts and I was dumbfounded as to what was wrong. Followed your solution here and it now works! Except I used INT2EXT4+ instead of INT2EXT+.
