First thanks for the new roms ,downloading both versions and do both roms include the kernel already baked in the roms? Sorry if it's a dumb question. I see allot of changes in the change log, can't wait to try this, thanks again

This rom and kernel are sick,no camera crash,no random reboots...I've tried to crash it, but gave up and just rebooted to undo all the crap i was doing to it. Really nice work. The only thing I miss from my previous unmentionable rom is usb mass storage.
Oh and yeah, T999L
Okay well i may be missing it totally but clock to center. More battery icons its really just boring there are a few that look great like the racing one du has.
So far great rom. Running art. Games run nicely no lag like carbon was giving me
Edit: no reboot menu?
It seems alot of roms lack add on features that others use and not only add ons like that but customization is lacking in every rom they all look the same no real differences between them :/

lot of camera issues.... instagram finally works with video, but after sending pix messages from inside MMS app (going to attach, camera, and take the pic) the next time you use camera it errors out with "cannot connect to camera"

this kernel can only be found in this rom for now, i do plan on making a separate release thread so people with future version of teh kernel can complain to me about how i broke their hearts and phones
Used the old syndicate on the Epic, great ROM, glad to see you guys doing something while we wait for JB CM.
Question though, I see thanking eugene373, is his script included in this ROM? From my personal testing I found I gained no advantage using it and would rather not have something else to worry about playing with my cores for debug reasons. How is it baked into this rom? the script or the apk? (not trying to start any sort of debate on the merits of the script, just don't want it as preference), Just wondering how I will have to go about removing it.

I dont think it is included. I asked as well. But the app is available. Works great for me but would rather have it baked in.
I leave my phone off the charger at night now and charge an hour or so in the morning. then a couple hours after the day is done and that's about how little my phone is plugged in.

***This kernel is still in active development, and currently in testing, flash at your own risk... I DO NOT currently have this device, if you think that is a hindrance to my ability to develop for it, then wait for someone with the device to make a better kernel. Don't flash this one, then ***** about it not working right. The second post is updated by FrancIsBacon regularly with the status of the test kernels.. and I delete the bad ones as soon as I get negative feedback. If you would like to be more active in testing join us in #ICS-DEV-E4GT on freenode.***
My build process automatically uploads every kernel I build to my goo.im folder, so if you aren't in the testing mood, you should probably read post 2, or maybe the thread a little before flashing one of them...

News Update for those that are watching this thread like a hawk: Ever since the a la carte kernels stopped churning out as they had been and chris had started making whole experimental CM9 builds, I had neglected to update. Chris is on his final push before submitting his work to CM in the attempt to get the inclusion of our device into the CM device tree. Really, that is right around the corner. One last major kink to work on, and that's 4G tethering. Once that is fixed, Chris is trying for official.
TL;DR Official CM inclusion hopefully right around the corner!
I see a lot of the same questions being asked throughout the thread, so I'll put up this handy FAQ. People are also seeing chris's newest test kernels on his goo and flashing them. It's fine, and welcomed, but don't expect them all to work. For those who don't want to test out a kernel that isn't confirmed to be working, I will maintain a list of working kernel release candidates at the bottom of this post, unless chris41g starts updating this thread himself with that info.
FAQ:
Q: Will this work on TW roms?
A: No. As stated in the OP, this kernel is for AOSP only.
Q: Will this work with AOKP at all?
A: Please bear in mind that there is no official AOKP for this phone yet, so there are many different builds. Only builds with an AOSP initramfs, like chris41g's AOKP, will work with this kernel. We also have reports that AOKP build M5 by Times_Infinity functions with this kernel, and the TabUI mod runs well with it. Thanks sjsharksfan420!
Q: Will this kernel work with MIUI?
A: There have been some reports of success, but the same issue lies here as with AOKP. There is no official MIUI for our device,so only builds with an AOSP initramfs will work.
Q: What roms will this kernel work for?
A: This kernel has been tested on Cm9 and chris41g's AOKP build and works beautifully on both.
Q: Is this FF18?
A: No. This is a custom kernel built from the kernel source code. FF18 is what was packaged with the OTA.
Q: Which governor/IO scheduler should I use?
A: That is completely up to you. There are positive reports of the pegasusq and sio combo working really well.
Q: What is the default scheduler?
A: CFQ
Q: Can I set the scheduler without a 3rd party app.?
A: Not at this time. Use setcpu or no-frills CPU Control for now. Or any other app you prefer for that matter.
Q: Can we overclock?
A:
chris41g said:
Also this kernel release does not over clock. As I'm trying to merge with the kernel with smdk4210 and hopefully gain inclusion as an officially supported device. I'll release an overclock version when I release a TW version.

Q: Can we underclock?
A: There are reports of instability and boot loops with underclocking. Proceed with caution.
Q: Can we adjust CPU voltage?
A: Not yet. At least, it's not natively supported. There are reports of success with apps like Tegrak Ultimate.
Q: Will this be packaged with cm9?
A: It is now packaged with the nightlies.
Q: Is this kernel 41g certified?
A:

Q: Why are other frequently asked questions not on this list?
A: I didn't see them, or I didn't remember them at the time of writing this. I will update this post if necessary, but if you think something that isn't here should be, let me know and I'll update it.
List of confirmed working kernel release candidates: 41g-CWM-RC13, 41g-TWRP-RC13, and Control 12 ONLY so far. Sorry, forgot to include the control kernel. Chris has stopped butting out a la carte kernels for now and has been cranking out experimental builds. If you want the latest and greatest, flash one of his CM9 builds. As of 8/23/2012 at 10:21 AM, MyspoonisTooBIG is the name of the latest stable build. The builds have reached a point of consistent stability, meaning unless something was wrong with the upload, you should not be having any strange issues or having to deal with dead pets, so flash away.
That's all for now.
Still running beautifully!

Noticed no one is building AOKP a lot for d2tmo. I do nightly builds for myself and decided to share them with folks.
WHAT MY BUILD OFFERS:
Latest Linaro Toolchain (Makes rom smoother)
-O3 Kernel flag (Builds for performance and not for optimized size like default)
I Cherrypick Anything I Desire (Always LATEST AOKP sources)
AOKP Features (Custom Toggles, Lockscreen, Awesome Wallpapers) (HANDCENT hide keyboard when send message.)
This is all SOURCE and optimized direct in the source while building. No touchwiz with xposed or any bloat. This is Google android with lots of features with little bloat.
I will be excepting requests from people on what to add. I plan on integrating the viper4android apk as well as explorer and some other useful tools. I am also testing other governors to the kernel to maybe increase performance. Battery is also very good.
This is a good rom for people who want vanilla AOKP optimized and easy to customize.
INSTRUCTIONS: (COME FROM NEW CM10.1 or AOSP BASE PLEASE)

WIPE CACHE
FORMAT SYSTEM (MAKE SURE ITS MOUNTED FIRST FOR SAFETY)

If you have the display issue just check force gpu to draw, will fix and have minimal effects (gpu might be faster idk).
ill try this new toy and let you know feature list??
Mostly just high performance AOKP, but has the latest source merges. They just updated kernel a ton and I build with linaro and -O3, I have a very hard time getting it to lag. Very very quick.
Any screenshots? I'll gladly try this out over the weekend. Thanks.

You can see build date from zip's but I build mostly once or twice a day fresh sync. The one listed there is 9PM EST yesterday, June 21st. Also SHOULD WORK on i747 since any at&t rom I tried on d2tmo worked. Just make sure your on newer cm10.1 or aosp with newer kernel. The devices are identical. I think tmo just changed the build.prop to say tmo lol
EDIT: I might be looking into building for other devices as well, not to sure yet.
Nice work. I shall be using this if it's updated regularly to fulfill my flashing addiction

Thanks! I didn't build yesterday but a few merges happened since so definitely ganna sync and build today. Will update thread later.
About to start building. Build should be up around 12:30PM EST
CHANGELOG FOR SUNDAY JUNE 23rd:
d2-common: add ext4 as second filesystem for sdcard for recovery
manifest: Track CM qcom/media-caf
mms: Prevent FC in low memory conditions
settings: Show application's package name in the "App info" screen.
ROM Control: updated czech translations for all you czech people using my rom lol
Probably some other stuff, I changed the kernel config some and my own tweaks.
Edit: Removed CAF media cherry pick, gave me build error. Will keep looking and see if they patch or merge. They did merge some minor things in the past 2 hours that I got though since I was messing with the cherry pick and re-synced.
EDIT 2: Building now, got past the part where it errored on the media CAF.

Flashed the newest build. No.problems with the camera
Thanks you so much for testing so fast. Not much different than the first one, tomorrow I am off work and plan on trying to tweak some stuff .
I also changed on thing in the kernel config, might notice a slight speed increase. Hard to tell since it's already really fast. Obviously there's placebo so try for yourself and let me know your review on the speed and snappiness.
so on the other build i had a nice surprise
ear buds in and play music one click up from mute
i go deaf lol audio glitch that as haunted many roms haha
just saying watch out for it
I tested play music and vlc and on vlc doesn't have glitch but Google play does. When I get off work I'll look for a fix.
EDIT: Looked at gerrit at work and do not know exactly what change caused the error, but I do know it IS ONLY ON CERTAIN APPS. I have heard poweramp works, just google play music and few others will not work and have max volume.
EDIT2: Building with the CAF picked again and it looks like it's working. I think they added some lines to another file that I had to delete.

No sound throughout.
Just finished flashing. All I have to say is that it's excellent for a pre-beta/alpha release but the lack of sound kills it for me. (AOSPA 3.90 Linaro also had this problem so I'm assuming this is caused by some code missing in the current 4.3 builds ported to hercules that accesses the speakers and headphone port)

Woot something new to flash ☺ I'm assuming it's a d2lte?
Thanks for starting a thread here, been a big fan of Quantum kernel since finding it on the AT&T forums a few weeks ago. Keep up the good work!
Knew about this great kernel but didn't know you had a Quantum ROM as well (and based on the best, SlimKat!). Thanks for putting this in the Sprint thread as well.
It's all d2lte but there's also some fixes in there to make sprint LTE work. Enjoy it!

Bah for some reason, I can never flash this and go back to another kernel like LeanKernel. I just flashed this and noticed it doesn't have interactiveX built in (at least not according to Trickster Mod), so I reflashed Lean Kernel and while it doesn't boot loop, I get tons of system process FCs at startup yielding the phone pretty much useless until I flash Quantum again. Any reason that is? I've usually gone between different kernels like stock, Lean, and BMS without any issues.
Anyway, going to test drive Quantum for a bit with the smartmax / row combo.
Thread cleaned. Linking to banned members work is against the rules, please refrain from further posts of this kind.
Thanks.

Flashed the rom but lost root. Restored my backed up rom.
Just installed and enabled root for apps and adb, but root is broke. I can't get titanium to work as it can't get root permissions. Joey Kim's root checker says its not, and if I keep checking it then says it is, but can't get root in titanium. This was a very clean install. Any ideas?
