Per this article the updates are expected sometime in late March(end of Q1 2014).
Kitkat & touchwiz combination sounds good but again no idea how many new restrictions it will come with.
4.3 took too long but the wait was not worth it. I am happy with 4.3 on 4.1 bootloader.
I hope there isn't a requirement to update the bootloader.

Do not hold your breath. Before we get even close to thinking we will get this. You will first see Samsung update the note2 Unlocked and international Versions. Then Sprint or at&t Might then consider to update the phone (maybe). If that happens then MAYBE AND only if and a very doubtful maybe. Will T- Mobile decided to send us the update..
There are way more hands in the pot then just want samsung says. The press release says Carrier dependant...
Carrier is the word there . So ask T- Mobile on there plans

I have a Note 2 t-mobile as well.. Sorry i never disclosed this. and NO There is no update for it. my note 2 is on 4.3 factory
I've got the AT&T model (SGH-I317) of the Note II running 4.1.2. (I317UCALK7), but I'm on T-Mobile now.
I received 4.1.2 OTA after rooting.
I have been unable to get any updates past 4.1.2, even when manually checking.
A few days ago I checked again and instead of telling me there was an error when checking for updates, it told me there was an update (around 185.75 MB). It downloaded, but failed to install.
I'd really like to be able to get the official/TouchWiz 4.4 build installed.
When 4.4 does hit, should I be trying to get the T-Mobile version or the AT&T version? Or does it not matter?
It looks like I won't be able to get the update OTA since I can't get any updates OTA now and I'm stuck on 4.1.2, but surely there will be a dump I can grab online and load myself, right?

So any idea if a TouchWiz ROM with WiFi calling ONLY happen if T-Mobile releases an official ROM first, or is there a way for devs to make a 4.4.2 with WiFi calling based on the component present in the 4.3 build?
T-Mobile could win me for life by doing two things:
1) Improve rural reception (I know they're working on it with all that new 700Mhz spectrum)
2) Release WiFi calling as an app for T-Mobile customers so I could be free to run a non-TW ROM

Mostly because I'm not interested in changing my phone number (WiFi calling I only really need for incoming calls), and I want to get SMS texts to my current phone #.
Really wish T-Mobile would just release a WiFi calling app for its customers so that I could go AOSP. I am not liking TouchWiz at all after being on an original Droid w/Bugless Beast and then Nexus devices.

You don't have to. You can choose to have all of your calls answered by Google Voice, or by your actual number.
I think you should give it a go..:good:

I have Google Voice for my voicemail, but obviously if I'm in the office where I have no signal, I'm not going to get the call because it goes right to Google Voice voicemail if I don't have a signal. Also, I need my regular number to accept SMS. Am I missing something?

So I purchased my Nexus directly from the Play Store a few months ago. My build version is IMM76I
I have no modified my phone in any way, no unlock, bootloaders, custom roms, nothing! its all completly stock.
How come I am not able to receive the Jelly Bean update?
Also, how come I'm the only one with the IMM76I build? everyone else seems to have takju or yakju? whats the difference?
The rollout may take several weeks if you don't want to manually update. Eventually you will get the notification. There is a workaround that works sometimes by deleting Google Services Framework data and then checking for an update again.

No, he bought from the Play Store so he has takju. I have a phone from the Play Store and am on build IMM76I and am still awaiting the Jelly Bean OTA as well. I've tried checking frequently throughout the day since the announcement and also just leaving the phone alone to check by itself and still nothing yet. Growing impatient. Wish that Google with specify the tentative length and specifics of their OTA rollouts instead of just saying "over the next several days." Soon it will be more than "several days" and turn into "more than a week" and then "several weeks."
From Google Search:
sev·er·al/ˈsev(ə)rəl/
Adjective:
More than two but not many: "the author of several books"; "Van Gogh was just one of several artists who gathered at Auvers".
Separate or respective: "their several responsibilities".

I have no wifi connection around me, I'm on Tmobile 4G, any way to trick the system to proceed with the download?
I'm new to Android after 3 years with an iPhone. I bought an unlocked Galaxy Nexus from the Google Play store specifically so I'd be able to upgrade to Jelly Bean as soon as it was available and not have to deal with carrier delays. Now, nearly a week after the release, I'm still waiting. Already tried the clear framework trick, which didn't work and resulted in multiple reboots and log in/out to Google Play to get everything working again.
This is one area where Apple kicks Google's butt. When a new iOS releases, everyone who has an eligible phone can download it immediately. Even with the small install base of the Galaxy Nexus, they still aren't rolling out to everyone.
Come on Google, get your act together and release the OTA update to all unlocked Galaxy Nexus phones. Enough with the staggered release.
No, have to find a wifi.

Agreed. Or perhaps they could provide a stock method of being able to apply an update zip if you're not able to update OTA.

If you have a friend with a smartphone capable of providing wifi hotspot, that will work for getting the update via "wifi".
Finally got my OTA notification this morning when I manually checked at 11:04 AM. Downloading now... Good things do come to those who wait, I suppose.
Hello all,
I only recently updated to the Galaxy S3 on AT&T and noticed that Wifi is practically useless.
It constantly loses connection. An app may download 30% or 50% of 70%, and then stop. Eventually it will connect again and then finish the download.
Maybe I can see a few webpages, and then it I get page not available notice.
I have read that an update fixed this problem, but I don't know if it is true.
Please let me know if there is a software update for this problem.
I only have a couple of days left to return the phone, and if I can't use wifi I may do so.
My phone information is below:
Model Number Samsung SGH-i747
Android Version 4.0.4
Baseband version I747UCLEM
Kernel version 3.0.8-599060-user
[email protected] #1
SMP PREEMPT Tue May 22 02:16:30 KST 2012
Build number

Thanks,

I have seen versions from July? which are I747UCLH9 and read that this update fixed wifi problems.
If this is true how do I update to this version now.
I have not rooted this phone, but have no problem doing so. However I would like to keep it unrooted as I may have to return it soon.
Of course when I check for updates from the phone it says that there are none available.
Help!
try using kies to update your phone. also try dialing *#0011#, pressing menu, selecting wifi, and turning 'wifi powersaving mode' to off

Hello! You're actually using an older firmware version. You should be on 4.1.1. Keis is pretty simple you just need to download, install, then plug your phone in and it should do the rest for you. If you've ever used an iphone or Ipod it works pretty much the same as Itunes (as far as updating your phone). The Samsung website is: http://www.samsung.com/us/kies/ About half way down the page you'll see the download links. Update to 4.1.1 and see if you're still having the issues.
Hope this helps.

As was said, upgrade the software first. Then try disabling power saving. Uncheck avoid poor connections if you have such a setting. If nothing works try checking your router's conf if you have access to it, or install WiFix if you're experiencing region-related issues. Good luck.
Thanks... Will try the upgrade tomorrow. I went to att store. They were very good at ignoring or talking about something else when I asked about updates. I would never have gotten anywhere with them.

By the way, thanks to all who replied to my question. I did get my firmware updated through KIES because of the info I would here.
When I mentioned any updates at the AT&T store I was pretty much ignored and the subject was changed. Just switched to AT&T recently and so far I have realized that the employees in their store are taught to be very polite, and it seems to get you out of the door without necessarily answering your question or fixing your problem. I guess they figure you will find it difficult to get upset with someone who is polite to you.
I have been there twice now and I hate it. It's like they are talking to you like you are an idiot.
I have a sprint samsung galaxy note 2 that is rooted and flashed to verizon running macksrom 5.0 and i started having this problem. the problem is i can call from my phone when it is not on wifi but the 3g/4g isnt showing up top in the status bar i cant access the internet unless im on wifi. when i go into settings and click on mobile networks it acts like it is going to do it then it hangs at a black screen and a box pops up and says unfortunately, the process com.android.phone has stopped ive tried cleaning caches and fixing permissions, nothing helps, there is also another thing that pops up and says error #89 unknown error. it also says when i click on stuff, use touchwiz or xperia to perform this action. Always or just once.) I bought this samsung gn 2 online everything was already done to it. I think whoever installed the macks rom must have left the the touchwiz on it. Because it keeps asking me when i do things, perform action using touchwiz or xperia I also noticed that i have goomanager on it. Can i use the goomanager to reflash this phone? If so can someone give me information on how to properly do it. i also read something about mobile odin. Which one would be the easiest to use?
You have too much going on there. I would relash the rom. Make sure you wipe system, casche and devick; may want to do old school and wipe three times.
Goo Manager is probably suppose to be there, by design from the ROM developer. That should have been in the OP on the ROM three, along with known issues.

Doesn't verizon run a slightly different hardware version from sprint? Are you trying to connect to the verizon or the sprint network? If verizon, there are two possibilities. 1 - hardware, the sprint phone just doesn't like the verizon signal. (unlikely) 2. - ROM, is the ROM the sprint version or the verizon version? if it's the sprint version I would say that framework differences are causin the issue and would reflash the correct version for your carrier (or the correct port - the hardware differences I mentioned earlier)
Have you called customer service about getting your phone set up on their network? About getting the IMEI number registered in their database?
In other words what have you already tried with this used phone in order to get it set up on your provider's network?

it was originaly a sprint phone that was rooted and flashed to verizon. ive been using it for months on the verizon network and have had zero problems until about five days ago. i dont know if the rom is sprint or verizon. how do i tell? i would reflash it if i knew what i am doing. i am a complete uber noob. im just hoping someone will give me directions how to reflash it. i dont care what rom i just want it to work again on the verizon network. i want to be able to use it to go geocaching with my sons. just got it all set up ready to go caching with em and the very next day it decided to go mental on me.

Hello! every time I try to download the 4.4.2 update on my phone there just pops up a message that says that the download has been interrupted. When I connect it to Kies it tells me that my 4.3 version is up to date.
Does anybody have a I747UCUFNE4 file that is flashable through Odin? I'm not rooted, just running stock bootloader and rom.
Thanks!
'PD: I found that people had the same problem with the S4 but I don't know if the same solutions apply
I'm in the exact same boat as you. I can't quite figure out why OTA nor Kies will work. I've also got 4.3 on my phone. I was actually about to post this up because I waited several days in hopes that something would fix itself, but got nothing. I've changed the date out to July 4th (Trying every day prior), trying to get it to recognize that there is an update, and still can't get it to update. I've done everything that I can aside from resetting my phone, which I don't want to do. I even fresh installed Kies on two computers and both won't see KitKat and both won't let me "initialize and check for firmware update," saying that the SGH-i747 cannot initialize.
Prior to KitKat, it would just say my system firmware was up-to-date, not this interrupted junk. That right there tells me it is seeing it, but it won't even attempt to grab it.
My phone is also complete stock and not rooted.
I wanted to bump this. Anyone have any ideas what's going on with our phones?

If I get some free time today, I'm going to contact AT&T to see if something is whacked on my account or if I need a new SIM. I swear that my original Galaxy had this same problem and they fixed something. I'll let you know what they have to say.
Also, so long as you follow instructions to the T, it is safe. I am not one to jump on something immediately, so I like to read about people's problems for a couple days. This one seems to be going along well. I put Cyanogenmod 7 on my original Galaxy S without a hitch, and the process has since been simplified big time!
Well, I called and spoke with someone and AT&T has the ability to push updates manually if your phone isn't taking it. While she was waiting for the program to open, she was reading over the change log to see what all changed. She couldn't get her program to open, so she went to seek help. Unfortunately she came back and informed me that Kitkat isn't available yet, per a phone engineer. I let her know about many people receiving it already and pointed her to the S3 details on their website that says it's upgradeable to 4.4. I also showed her this:

She is going to speak with some other folks and call me back in an hour. Fingers crossed!

Youre best bet if you are unsure about any of it would be to use enewman17's thread in General for updating. Most have had success with it and you'll probably find it has the most detailed steps for how to do it.

Alright... The rep called me back to let me know what's up! Apparently AT&T is having problems pushing the update at this time and has no ETA when they'll have their end resolved. She suggested I go to Best Buy and have them update my phone through Samsung Experience. The store closest to me has Samsung Experience, so I'll stop there after work and update you. If you happen to try it out yourself before I reply, let me know how it goes!
Now whether AT&T is blowing smoke in my face on both the update problems and Best Buy thing... I have no clue.

Well, Best Buy does indeed have the Samsung Experience dude present at two locations by me. One location said they didn't know what I was talking about and to wait for AT&T to have the update available. The other location the dude immediately knew what I was talking about and proceeded to update my phone.
They use a software called Smart to do this and it said there was an update for my phone. It took about 5-8 minutes and I was done. Unfortunately the Smart software wasn't so smart, because it just reflashed 4.3 onto my phone. I also attempted to do a manual check and it said "Software Update Interrupted." He proceeded to check again to see if the update was available and this time Smart was saying my phone was up-to-date. Hmph! The Samsung rep said he'd give me a call tomorrow and let me know why their Smart software didn't have 4.4.2 available, even though it should. He wasn't sure if it would just take another week before they got it, but he would get some clarification.
So much for that one.
I have been having the same problem. Everyone else seems to have gotten the update on their SIII's, but me. I feel left out of the KitKat club. Hah! Even my boyfriend has gotten it and we're on the same plan. I tried going through Kies, but it keeps saying that it doesn't support my phone. I even tried manually putting in the model number and S/N through Kies, but that just wants me to update it back to 4.1, which doesn't even make sense. I also tried changing the date on my phone to a future one, but that just made the wait time longer. It keeps saying my phone is up to date and it even says so on Kies. I don't understand...
I hate kies. ....lol!
There are two threads in General which will help you to update manually.

It was the only suggestion I was given on the AT&T community forums, I thought to at least try it. More of a headache than anything else. Hah!
The only problem is that I don't want to root my phone, like I have done with some of my old phones in the past, since this one is still under contract.
Try this thread then.

Well, I stopped at Best Buy again today to see if they had 4.4.2 available and sure enough, they do. He told me the update came in yesterday. I had him update my phone and I'm happy to say I have KitKat on my SGH-I747.
Everything seems MUCH smoother. Bluetooth actually works and connects on its own (instantly, too), WiFi actually seems to be working instead of saying my connection is unstable, and the phone is overall swifter at tasks like it was prior to 4.3. There is also no annoying lock screen delay like 4.3 introduced for me. So overall, I'm VERY happy with 4.4.2. :good:

Hi,
I am now living outside US and I have an UNLOCKED S3 i747 and I wanted to update my 4.3 to Kitkat 4.4. Unfortunately, AT&T dont push 4.4 update if you dont have an active AT&T account. Is there a quick and safe way to update without going through AT&T servers?

Welcome. When we do get MM, an Odin file will become available sometime after, so you'll still be able to manually update.

i'm looking forward for this.. btw, i am using att version of note 4 (n910a). now im not using att SIM. is it possible for me to get the MM update once it available w/o connected to att network?
Regardless of your current carrier, you will get the update as long as you have WiFi internet. It will come from att servers, even if you don't have att service. It's all automatic. Just sit back and wait for a notification.

what If I am not in USA ? I heard some guys talking about using Kies but not sure if that's a way to do so. Cuz everytime I need to upgrade I had to download the rom and backup everything for me which is really pain in the ass with a corporate phone :/
If your phone is not modded, if it is not rooted, you will get the update via wifi, regardless of where you are in the world. The notification will come over the Internet regardless of your internet connectivity (could be other carrier's network), but you will need to download the update via wifi. This has nothing to do with carrier or location.

This is not the case. Carriers will only send an OTA update to a phone on their own network. It's been reported with previous updates that this phone (N910A) needs an AT&T sim card for the update to be picked up. It might be possible to update a phone via KIES without being on a network but not OTA; but I don't think KIES has been an option for recent updates on the Note4.
Interesting, all I can report is my own experience - I've received every update on my phone, I have had Straight Talk service then switched to Cricket service...

I saw this thread on Android Central about one or two users having this issue. But others did not have that issue. Many things could have happened. I've had phones that needed to be factory reset to get updates in the past, so maybe he was rooted - or maybe Knox was blocking it... The thread does mention that lots of people were having problem getting updates, even on ATT Sims, so... maybe something else was going on - maybe they disabled a service necessary to check for updates?

I have two Note 4 phones and both received the 5.1.1 updates without any issue.
Not sure if you were aware, but both Staight Talk and Cricket use the AT&T network.
