rooting method for sp and zl the same. enjoy!
Sent from my C6503 using Tapatalk
And for LB?
Looks nice, but is there any noob Guiode how to do this?
Don't even know what a TA is
And for locked bootloaders?
I really hope there will be a one-click root like on the 4.1 days
Just got the phone and already installed the latest version. I'm surprised that no one found a way to root without having to unlock the bootloader.

Try Nut's method... basically you downgrade to 4.2, root... flash nut's pre-rooted zip of 4.3, then flash the stock kernel and you're already rooted... (and can then install a recovery and go from there with all the rooted 4.3 goodness...)

IF you don't care if you save your current data... (or backup, and copy said data off your device) then follow this post to get to rooted 569 on a locked bootloader... Basically you downgrade to .67, root using the methods described elsewhere, flash a zip of the system folder that includes SU already and then flash the stock kernel via flashtool from a FTF.... then you can install recovery because you're rooted at that point.
Then upgrade using the files here... which uses a similar process as above to step you to 101.
I personally suspect you can just work from the files in the second set... but he knows for certain it works doing the stepped upgrade.
Reality is, the biggest problem is will you lose your data... and at this point, there's a high probability you can't gain root without losing it.

Well that sucks..
Even if you did retain data, it still quite a hassel :crying:.
I really wish Doomlord (or someone else) finds a new exploit.
I mean, the program that was 'banned' here on XDA could do it...
edit: why does Nut's method to update to .569 NOT require root while update to .101 DOES require root?

Actually, it's not Root as much as having a recovery that you can flash any zip files from... You're basically side stepping rooting via an exploit... you're working from the "I already have root and I can flash nearly whatever I want" position...
Please advise

Well, I guess one way would be to use Doomlord Rooting Toolkit:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2332407
The most dangerous thing it can happen if you're FW is not supported, is.. nothing
Yes, its worth the upgrade to 4.3
I'm about to share the C6503 10.4.1.B.0.101 Commercial and Journalists Generic R1C
And trying to make a flashable zip from it, if no one do it first.. hehe

Ok...your device is rooted right.....So then you can choose by your self witch rom you want....for ICS ..i'm running westcrips Resurrection Remix v1.0....
Works like a charm..try this i think it's the best ics experiance you can get on the sgs2..it's real smooth..and the battery simply amazing.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1436854
IMPORTANT make a titanium backup of all your apps.
And with safe backup ....backup your data ...like calendar contacts etc.
Before flashin....make a nandroid backup..for that go into custom recovery and run a backup.
Just in case if something goes wrong.

If your carrier not already released an update.....NOTE sure you can wait...no one pushes you..

Hello guys.
After a couple of months I noticed that our beloved nexus is the easiest phone to root. Also the fastest.
List of the phones I rooted for friends:
-galaxy s2
-xperia s
-galaxy gio
-captivate
The xperia s.
This device was the most difficult. I was like 2.5 hours busy to get the ****ing drivers installed. ( the phone only stays in fastboot if the drivers are correctly installed..) so then I needed to flash the goddamn clockworkmod recovery to flash supersu. Also the device doesnt boot normally again if you dont flash the stock kernel back via fastboot. And wtf I needed a unlock code from sony to unlock the bootloader???
Conclusion: If you buy a xperia, dont root it. Its a headache.
The galaxy s2, galaxy gio and captivate.
This phones were all about the same method. Via odin. Luckily i did not have to unlock the bootloaders and etc. Just via odin. Its a headache if something goes wrong.. stock firmwares... cwm with a kernel... ics roms dont flash with a ics kernel cwm...
------------------
So basicly when I first got my Nexus S ( rooting method is the same for galaxy nexus) I just rooted it in 5 minutes. This time includes installing the drivers, unlocking the bootloader, flashing cwm and superuser.
Conclusion: from all the android phones I know, the NEXUS devices are the easiest ones to ROOT. No bs with odin, getting codes to unlock bootloaders, cwm attached to a kernel, and other 5hit I forgot. I am not saying these devices are not good, but the nexus devices are just the best.
Thank you google for the nexus line , God Bless you.
I just needed it to get if off my chest

I couldn't agree more, I remember having to tinker with my Bravo's HBOOTs and all sort just to release a *little* bit of extra memory. haha. Then I got the Nexus S and it only took two commands via ADB and one via Fastboot and it was all up, rooted and running, blew me away.
Needless to say, if you want to root, modify, etc, there is only one line of phones for you.
X10i was simple, back when z4root was on the market. Download, install, run, reboot then your rooted. Recovery was through app installer too.
Hats off to the guys who make these things so easy for us! jerpelea, zdzihu, bin4ry, androxide to name a few for x10

Just to be clear, the Odin-able ROM will contain Knox, thus flashing it will result in the installation of the e-fuse? Hence if folks attempt to revert, the Knox counter will then trip?

Cool thanks. I know it wouldn't trip anything if installed, I was just concerned about reverting out of it. My understanding is that once Knox is on, the Knox counter is active. However, whay you're saying is thay the e fuse/Knox counter is boot loader dependent, therefore problem solved by removing the official Leak's boot loader... Correct?
Do you sub the boot loader with a previous version's boot loader? And if that's the case, would we expect the same kind of problems that were encountered with the 4.3 builds (sound, connectivity) until the hybrid modem solution was applied?

No just don't add a bootloader at all.
And evidently people are able to revert according to the i9505 thread.
I'm on mk2 everything including bootloader. Once I have flashed it I'll provide full info if it trips anything.
Dunno yet. I'd imagine you'd at least need the mk2 modem. The modems will be removed too. They'll fail in Odin and if flashed will cause no service.

Hahaha no. Odex and Deodexing has absolutely nothing to do with it. Nor the kitchen.
Do things need removed? Yes. Bootloader and modem's would be one. They fail in odin. You can even flash the recovery if you wanted.
I did the same thing with 4.3 update. No kitchen needed. No fancy fake cooking. Or any other crap another has said.
I'll show you in the next 2 hours. Should be heading home in a few.

well.. the security on this is odd.. the kernel is either doing a check with the bootloader or its security check come in at the later part of the boot cycle .. its different i can say that .. but this is a leak of a beta who knows.. im still trying to get this stupid thing to boot we shall see.. dont hold ur breath until we get a kernel security bypass .. but it could be worse .. gotta love sammy!!

He's trying to modify it. I don't modify. I'm not a rom modder of factory firmware. I'll build Carbon, aokp, etc but not a modder.
What I'll give? Is factory touchwiz 4.4.

The KitKat update brings improved stability, and major features include white status bar icons, improved performance, reduced memory usage, improvements to Samsung’s onscreen keyboard in landscape mode, inbuilt wireless printing support, ability to select the default launcher and messaging app from the settings menu, a camera shortcut and full-screen album art on the lock screen, and new emojis. You might also find that most apps are lesser access to the external storage than before, which is by Google’s design and hence something you’ll have to live with.

Knox could be triggered it doesn't matter..... My device has knox triggered since a long time ago and upgraded to 4.4 just fine WIFI calling is working you just need to flash a costum kernel after to make WIFI work "I USED ADAM KERNEL" I'm sure any other tw 4.4 kernel will work just fine also..... for some reason this package doesn't update the baseband leaves it on the mk2

I just got done with the OTA and I'm still have the MK2 baseband. How can I get the newer one?

Is weird that the OTA update is not upgrading us to the newer baseband...... I guess we have to wait till the complete firmware is out that will deff upgrade us to the new Baseband ???? is ur WIFI working after the OTA update ?? with stock kernel ?
THE ACTUAL FIRMWARE hasn't been released to download so we'll have to wait till is uploaded
I actually see that some people got updated to the newer BASEBAND with the OTA update and some DIDN'T that's just weird..... I guess the unlucky ones have to wait till the full firmware is released

The only reason I updated was for the newer baseband. I guess I'll just wait for it. I didn't really try out the stock at all. I just finished the update and after Rooting and custom recovery, I'm restoring my GPE rom. I can't take TW.

Well I was but odined the stock unrooted firmware and took ota because tmobile somehow knows if you're rooted I even moved supersu, the only modified system file I had to data/app and still couldn't take the ota. Kept getting a message my device was modified. So I was unrooted when I took the ota

Hi, I recently buyed HTC one with sense 5. Can somebody help me to update my device to sense 6 legally. I mean official update. I'm ok with rooting unlocking bootloader. Etc. My last device was Samsung galaxy custom slimrom But in the end I want HTC with official stock version.
I found one updatepackage.zip and try to update it with recovery. But was unable to get in recovery mode. After selecting recovery in bootloader HTC sign appears and screen turns black for few seconds and it restart the system.
Can anybody guide me? Thankyou in advance

but first s-off it. using firewater and never s-on it again otherwise you'll get stuck!!

Thanks leech28 for the reply. One more thing, does s-off means like getting root Ur just unclocking boatloader.
And one more question, I found thread with official sense 6 updatepackage.zip. Is it possible to update my HTC to sense 6? Will it work for me. If yes then I will be very thankfull if you guide through that or help me with link.

S-off is more dangerous than a regular unlock. When the secure flag is off, you can flash anything to any partition. You can even flash unsigned things like decrypted ruu files... Which is what you would need to attain sense 6 when not on Verizon towers. We do not have an official sense 6 ruu from HTC directly, only the decrypted one which is why you should stay s-off in case you would need to ruu again.
For the ota zip, you would need root anyway to put the file into the correct directory to update. Might as well just s-off and ruu. It would be less of a pain than moving the ota file and setting correct permissions.
Sent from my HTC6500LVW using XDA Free mobile app
S-off means security off this means you will be able to flash any ruu even if it is not encrypted, ill recommend you s-off it as it will be easier to update your phone in future s-off dose not root it's just a security feature to protect phone from modifications
hmm. Got it. And If I update and then s-on it. What will happen. Will it brick my htc?

No, it will not, but I highly suggest starting s-off until an official encrypted ruu is released. If you ever run into an issue and need to ruu while s-on, you would be sol.

S-off will allow you to do anything. Flash custom recoveries, flash firmware, flash roms, flash zip packages(like root).
Use weaksauce to gain temproot then firewater to get s-off. There is a pinned thread on how to do it in the original development section.
Once you do that, you can flash any rom you want, I personally recommend Santod's GPE 4.4.4, or CM11, or Nusense 6 depending on your taste.
Also - there is no reason to EVER go back to s-on. S-on just means you don't have access to the system. Being s-off will not prevent you from doing anything with the phone, and will allow you to load any RUU file in case you f up your bootloader somehow. The ONLY reason to ever go back to s-on, once you attain s-off, is to return for a warranty replacement if you end up with a hardware defect down the line.
