My phone is now stuck in recovery mode.
I have tried doing some troubleshooting with my little knowledge:
Perform Wipe data/Factory reset (this will delete all apps and their settings and game progress) and choose Yes on next screen to confirm the action. Then perform Wipe Cache Partition and once again hit Yes to confirm.
Return to CWM recovery main menu and select Mounts and Storage > Format / data and click Yes on next screen to confirm.
From the main menu of CWM recovery, go to Advanced and choose Wipe Dalvik Cache. Then hit Yes on next scrand messed up the whole situation.
It currently shows:

So you stuck on custom bootloader right at the cwm homer screen? Try to reflash this new cwm and let me know how it goes. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1757146
I too have the same problem. Every time I turn my phone on it gets stuck on the Google logo for a bit then directs me to ClockworkMod Recovery and selecting "reboot system now" does not help either because I keep coming back to it. I can't even flash another image because it is on ClockworkMod Recovery and my running the fastboot command returns an error "device not found".

So I perm rooted and it says S-Off in fastboot and I have superuser access I believe.
I got rom manager and downloaded clockwork through rm. I try to install rom from SD card, select the baconbits rom, it asks to backup or clear, I have tried both.
The phone boots to htc screen, then shows a black screen with a phone and a red symbol over it. I waited 20 minutes on that screen and nothing happened.
I was able to push vol up and power to get a console but I can't load anything there. It will reboot just fine after that but I have no changes and still cannot overclock.
Does this have something to do with the user keys or whatever?
Thanks in advance for reading this and any help that gets offered. I hate to have my first post on a forum being a "help me" post.

Go into Rom Manager and try to flash Clockwork recovery again. This has happened to a lot of people... Flash it a second time, and it should be good.
Dan
Did you download the "g2-recovery-test-keys.img" from the 3rd post quoted below?
Place that file in the C:/android/tools or whatever your cd line is, which should in the tools folder. Now go the 6th step. FYI the sixth step I tried from fastboot and recovery, none worked until I reinstalled the drivers my computer kept prompting me for and immedatly got the OKAY's from the 7th step.
Edit: The code "fastboot flash recovery g2-recovery-test-keys.img" should be copied pasted onto your cmd.

Noob walkthrough:
1.Setup Android SDK and install drivers/udev rules as needed
2. S-Off your g2 http://goo.gl/Sc134
4. Copy vision-baconbits-0.3.zip to your sdcard, rename it update.zip (you can do this via adb using: adb push vision-baconbits-0.3.zip /sdcard/update.zip)
5. Reboot to fastboot mode (adb reboot bootloader)
6. Flash the recovery http://n0rp.chemlab.org/android/vision/g2-recovery-test-keys.img : fastboot flash recovery g2-recovery-test-keys.img (if you get 'waiting for device' your phone either isnt in fastboot mode, or you will need to fix your sdk drivers)
7. You should get two 'OKAY's once recovery flash is complete
8. Press the power button once; then the vol down button to highlight 'recovery'; then the power button again to select the 'recovery' option
9. The phone will reboot to recovery
10. Press volume up+power to show the recovery menu
11. Select the 'Apply:update.zip' option, using volume keys to navigate, and power button as [enter]
12. Once the zip applies, reboot
If you get signature verification errors on the zip, it means your fastboot flash of recovery failed to apply, redo it

Bingo, That worked. Glad it was that simple. I actually had to flash clockwork a third time to get it to go all the way.

Wrong section but will help anyway.
After you S-OFF'd with AlpharevX, it prompted you to install recovery, if you did then skip the first step, if you didn't then follow from no. 4
Reboot into fastboot and plug phone in with USB cable (turn off, hold back + power)
1. Download fastboot.exe, and put it C:
2. Download recovery, and put it in C: rename it to "recovery.img" (for simplicity & without the quotes)
3. open cmd (press windows key + R, type "cmd" and press ok). In cmd type:
cd c:\ [hit enter]
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img c:\recovery.img [hit enter]
fastboot poweroff [hit enter]
4. with the phone off, hold "volume down" and "power", this will boot you into HBOOT, wait for the phone to look for some files (which it won't find), use thevolume keys to navigate to "RECOVERY", select with power.
5. phone will reboot, show splash screen, go to "backup & restore" and select "backup", and wait for it to finish. Go to "advanced", select "wipe dalvic cache", then go back to the menu and select "wipe data/ factory reset". Now go to "install zip from sdcard", "choose zip from sdcard", and locate the ROM you want to install, and wait for it to finish, then reboot.

when im on Hboot screen to intall root.zip file... when i navigate recovery..
my phone restarts and turn into blackscreen.....
Please someone help me ... :/
it means the recovery image has not been flashed properly .
i prefer you to follow below easy steps
Step 1: Flashing the Custom Recovery UI by XDA.cn
Again, make sure your device is S-OFF.
Again, make sure your memory card is formatted FAT32.
Place the PG76IMG.zip file into your phone SD card.
Disable Fast Boot from your phone settings (Settings > Power > Disable Fastboot)
Turn your phone off.
Hold down the "power" button and the "volume down" button for a few seconds till you see the HBOOT screen.
Don't press anything. The system will scan for some files and it will prompt you for an update. Move the cursor to OK (volume up) to start the flashing process.
After it finishes, press the "power" button to restart the system.
Let Android boot and delete the PG76IMG.zip file from your SD card via USB.
Congrats! Custom recovery has been installed. Process to step 2.
Step 2: Flashing the rooting script by XDA.cn
Copy the root.zip file into your phone SD card.
Turn your phone off.
Boot into recovery: Hold down the "power" button and the "volume down" button for a few seconds till you see the HBOOT screen. Let it do its thing and then select "RECOVERY".
At the recovery menu, use the volume buttons to select "install zip from sd card".
Then select "choose zip from sd card".
Then find the "root.zip" file on the list.
Select "YES".
Let the script do its thing till you see "Install from sd card completed".
Select "Go Back" on the menu till you find the "power off" option and select it.
Turn your phone back on and let Android boot
you can use the custom recovery PG76IMG.img or else clockworkmod recovery from
http://www.clockworkmod.com/rommanager
cwm recovery have more options ,so i prefer you to use that .
you can find those FILES in the source which i have specified.

twrp is a recovery that makes you able to flash supersu to root
I know this is gibberish to you so this is what you need to do:
1- download twrp from here https://dl.twrp.me/a5/twrp-3.0.2-0-a5.img.html
2- download this zip file https://s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/supersu/download/zip/SuperSU-v2.79-201612051815.zip
3. Enable USB Debugging from Developer options & Disable Fast Boot from Power settings
4. Copy the first file you downloaded to the fastboot folder and rename the file “twrp-3.0.2-0-a5.img” as “recovery.img”
5. Now Connect your Phone to the pc through usb cable.
6. Press shift and right click together. In the popoup select “Open command window here”
7. In the command prompt type “adb devices” .
8. If it shows the list of device attached the type “adb reboot bootloader”
9. After the phone boots into bootloader, in the command window type “fastboot flash recovery recovery.img”
10. Now in the phone ,using volume keys to navigate and power button to select, select reboot.
You now successfully installed twrp
Before following this, copy the downloaded super su zip to your external sd card of phone.
1. Turn off your phone & Then hold Volume Down & Power buttons at a time. Your phone should reboot into bootloader (HBOOT)
#Note: Use the Volume buttons for nevigation & the Power button for selection
2. Select Recovery. Your phone should reboot into Recovery mode (TWRP)
3. select “install zip from sdcard” & then Select “choose zip from sdcard”
4. Choose the #SuperSU.zip file you copied earlier on your device.
5. When it’s flashed, just go back and select “reboot system now” and your device should reboot.
its going to take sometime in the first boot
aaand you'r done.
