What am I doing wrong? Loading baconbits. - G2 and Desire Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I perm rooted and it says S-Off in fastboot and I have superuser access I believe.
I got rom manager and downloaded clockwork through rm. I try to install rom from SD card, select the baconbits rom, it asks to backup or clear, I have tried both.
The phone boots to htc screen, then shows a black screen with a phone and a red symbol over it. I waited 20 minutes on that screen and nothing happened.
I was able to push vol up and power to get a console but I can't load anything there. It will reboot just fine after that but I have no changes and still cannot overclock.
Does this have something to do with the user keys or whatever?
Thanks in advance for reading this and any help that gets offered. I hate to have my first post on a forum being a "help me" post.

Go into Rom Manager and try to flash Clockwork recovery again. This has happened to a lot of people... Flash it a second time, and it should be good.
Dan

Did you download the "g2-recovery-test-keys.img" from the 3rd post quoted below?
Place that file in the C:/android/tools or whatever your cd line is, which should in the tools folder. Now go the 6th step. FYI the sixth step I tried from fastboot and recovery, none worked until I reinstalled the drivers my computer kept prompting me for and immedatly got the OKAY's from the 7th step.
Edit: The code "fastboot flash recovery g2-recovery-test-keys.img" should be copied pasted onto your cmd.

Noob walkthrough:
1.Setup Android SDK and install drivers/udev rules as needed
2. S-Off your g2 http://goo.gl/Sc134
4. Copy vision-baconbits-0.3.zip to your sdcard, rename it update.zip (you can do this via adb using: adb push vision-baconbits-0.3.zip /sdcard/update.zip)
5. Reboot to fastboot mode (adb reboot bootloader)
6. Flash the recovery http://n0rp.chemlab.org/android/vision/g2-recovery-test-keys.img : fastboot flash recovery g2-recovery-test-keys.img (if you get 'waiting for device' your phone either isnt in fastboot mode, or you will need to fix your sdk drivers)
7. You should get two 'OKAY's once recovery flash is complete
8. Press the power button once; then the vol down button to highlight 'recovery'; then the power button again to select the 'recovery' option
9. The phone will reboot to recovery
10. Press volume up+power to show the recovery menu
11. Select the 'Apply:update.zip' option, using volume keys to navigate, and power button as [enter]
12. Once the zip applies, reboot
If you get signature verification errors on the zip, it means your fastboot flash of recovery failed to apply, redo it

Bingo, That worked. Glad it was that simple. I actually had to flash clockwork a third time to get it to go all the way.

hello ppl long time whit out visiting my favorite place, but now i really need help, some of my friends just bought a EVO, but every time that he try to turn it on, the phone show the splash scree (htc evo bla bla bla) and than star to looping back never pass from that scree, so how i can fix this isuue, thanks in advance
is the phone rooted? if not take it back to sprint! if its rooted try wiping everything and flashing a rom
Is your friend's phone rooted? Check to see if he or she can get to the bootloader menu. With the phone turned completely off, simultaneously press the DOWN volume button and the power button until the phone starts. After a short pause, a few lines of text should flash across the screen. After that, he or she will be given options on the left side of the screen.
posting & replying via the XDA Premium app.
it looks that is not rooted, only had fastboot, recovery, clear storage, simlock n hboot usb, also i can not go in recovery way to flash rom cause start to looping
At the top of the bootloader screen, you will see either "S-ON" or "S-OFF". If it displays "S-ON" then the EVO needs to be rooted. Your friend should still be able to download and flash one of the RUU roms from HERE. Make sure he chooses the one that coincides with his HBoot. The hboot version can also be viewed in the bootloader menu. In regard to the RUU roms, the exe versions are run from within Windows and the zip version are flashed via the bootloader. If using the zip version, rename the file to PC36IMG.zip.
posting & replying via the XDA Premium app.
my bad the phone is root it show me s-off, could i flash sprint lovers rom the once that should go by hboot
Sorry for the delayed response. I was driving home. Anyway, if you cannot get into recovery, you will need to reflash a recovery. Click on the name "amon_RA" in my signature to download its PC36IMG.zip or click HERE and place it on the root of your SD Card. Make sure that no other file with that name is on the root of your card. Afterwards, power off and then boot into the bootloader. After a short pause, the bootloader should auto-detect the file and prompt you to install. Follow the easyy prompts to install. Installation takes less than 10 seconds. Afterwards, go to your new recovery and flash whatever rom you want. Now, in regard to your question about the Sprint Lover's rom, if there is a version flashable via the bootloader, then yes, it *should* work for you.
posting & replying via the XDA Premium app.
i flash ra recovery but when i try go on it the phone start to bootlooping again,f#ck
Turn off your device and remove the SD card. Afterwards, reboot into the bootloader and then select recovery and see if it will allow you.
posting & replying via the XDA Premium app.
no, still looping hate this phone lol
Okay, do you have a backup of your SD card? If so, reformat and/or re-partition your card. Re-flash amon_RA and try getting into the recovery again. Are you certain you are still "S-OFF"?
posting & replying via the XDA Premium app.
Sounds like you have the same problem a lot of people are having, where you can't get past the White EVO screen.
I can't find the link, but I did save a walk through that someone wrote. It takes some work, but this does apparently work.
You will need to use ADB for this
"Okay, I don't claim to know this will work for your phone nor do I claim it won't ruin your phone. That said if you decide to continue with the instructions below I can not be held liable for any negative/undesireable effects. I don't think you will get any symptoms worse than the dreaded bootloop that has inevitably led you here, but I could be wrong.
I will include almost everything needed to complete the steps that brought my Evo back after writing a complete NV list from an HTC Mogul. (accidentally)
You will need to download the following:
RUU_Supersonic_1.32.651.1_Radio_1.39.00.04.26_release_171253.exe
http://shipped-roms.com/download.ph....651.1_Radio_1.39.00.04.26_release_171253.exe
EVO_Softbrick.zip (extract to C:\)
http://www.4shared.com/file/VlJ9mpJR/EVO_Softbrick.html
The zip contains the Adb and fastboot files that you'll need as well as the PC36IMG.zip that you need to flash from the sdcard.
1.Turn Evo on while holding the volume down button. Verify it boots into bootloader. Pull battery.
2.Format sdcard to FAT32 and copy PC36IMG.zip to it, insert card into phone and reboot into bootloader.
This is where the phone should find the .zip and flash the new spoofed Hboot, After the phone reboots it will show as
Hboot version 2.10 this is fine. Time to verify fastboot commands are working.
3.While in bootloader select fastboot by pressing down on the volume button and pressing the power button to select.
4.Plug phone into your computer and cancel any driver installs, open device manager and look for "Android 1.0"
This is where you should double click on "Android 1.0" and choose Update Driver>Browse my computer>Let me pick.
Highlight "Show All Devices" and select Next, Now choose "Have Disk".
5.Navigate to the "Driver" folder in my zip and select androidusb.INF.
Now verify that it installs and shows "My HTC".
Time to start fasboot.
6.Start cmd prompt, just copy the commands (without quotes) below into the window:
"cd C:\EVO\ADB"
"fastboot devices"
Verify that it shows your device.
Now send following commands
(I think all commands should work but some may not be allowed, I refuse to format my Evo just to test it though)
"fastboot erase nv"
"fastboot erase userdata"
"fastboot erase system"
"fastboot erase recovery"
"fastboot erase microp"
"fastboot erase boot"
"fastboot erase radio"
"fastboot flash nv nv.img"
Assuming all has been successful thus far then run the RUU_Supersonic_1.32.651.1_Radio_1.39.00.04.26_release_171253.exe.
That should be it. Hopefully your phone boots up. Enjoy.
These steps worked for my friend 1justformail as well, Modified Hboot was created by thefredelement.

[Q] Incredible won't boot into Clockwork

Alright, I have been searching around for my problem and I have found no such luck. I am running Evervolv ICS ROM Preview 8 and I noticed they released Preview 9. So I decided to upgrade of course but I came across a snag. My phone just boot's into the stock recovery and not into Clockwork. I have found a similar problem in another forum but I am unable to post the link do the rules of this forum.
The problem being that I cannot turn off FASTBOOT, I have no selection to do so in my phones settings.
Any help at all would be wonderful.

Are you s-off? If so flash cwm recovery thru hboot as a PB31IMG.zip http://dinc.does-it.net/Recoveries/CWM_5.0.2.0/PB31IMG.zip
If you can boot into the stock recovery then fastboot is not the issue. If fast boot is enabled holding vol down and power just boots the phone, you will not enter any recovery. The only way to enter recovery with fastboot enabled is to pull the battery truly powering off the phone, fastboot does not power of but hibernates for faster boot.

Well if you are getting the stock recovery then i assume cwm recovery is not installed. Flashing the file above will install it.
To do so download the file and place it on your sdcard in no folders.
Power off the phone and pull the battery, then reinsert.
Hold vol down and power buttond till a white screen pops up (hboot). Wait a couple secs and hboot will find the file, parse it, and then prompt to press vol up to update. When its donr it will prompt to press vol up to reboot or vol down not to. Press vol down and then scroll to and select recovery. You should now be where you want to be.

I'm sorry I was not clear before, forgive me. Yes Clockwork is installed, I have reflashed it with the current version and older versions to attempt to fix the problem. I tried another recovery as well (One that I cannot recall at the moment) and I still boot into the stock recovery. My main problem is that I cannot boot into Clockwork. I'm sorry again for not being specific before.

No I do not, should I go ahead and get that setup? Before I forget thank you for being patient and helpful this far, I appreciate your help so far.
Download this http://dinc.does-it.net/ADB/ADB-Fastboot-USB-Drivers_v4_(x86)(x64).zip, and extract it to C:\. You should now have an ADB folder on the C:\ drive (C:\ADB), which contains adb.exe and fastboot.exe. Then follow this guide to setup the drivers http://unrevoked.com/rootwiki/doku.php/public/windows_hboot_driver_install
Once that is setup and working download this zip file ( http://dinc.does-it.net/Guide_Root_New_Hboot/flash_mtd_recovery.zip ), unzip it, and place the 2 files on your sdcard in no folders.
Make sure usb debuging is checked on in menu - settings - applications - development
Power off the phone pull the battery and reinsert. Plug the phone in to the pc and hold vol down and power till hboot comes up. Select fastboot, it should say in red near the top fastboot usb. Then type the folowing in a cmd prompt:
fastboot erase recovery
Once complete reboot the phone.
Set the phone to charge only.
Open a command prompt on your PC and navigate to the same folder as your fastboot.exe file, (example type: cd C:\ADB ).
Type the following into the command prompt pressing the enter key at the end of each line:
adb shell
(You should now get a pound sign #)
cat /sdcard/flash_image > /data/flash_image
chmod 755 /data/flash_image
/data/flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img
Then try to see if you can access cwm recovery.

Sounds like the recovery partition may be corrupt, nothing will write to it. Well if i were you i would do an ruu and see if that fixes it. Not much else you can do i dont think. Hopefully the ruu will fix it and allow you to flash cwm.

"I'm S-OFF, I can't boot recovery and my phone doesn't
boot"
For one reason or another, your recovery image is corrupted
and when you try to boot into recovery, all you get is the
HTC screen and your phone doesn't boot. It is relatively
simple to fix, and there is more than one way to go about
doing this. All you need to do, is to flash a new recovery
image.
Possible causes
- I have no idea, however if somebody has an explanation
then feel free to PM me.
Repairing recovery, booting phone:
NOTE: If you have a PVT4 Device, go to "Flashing custom
recovery". If you are unsure, check just to be safe.
#METHOD 1#
Method One uses Android Flasher to flash the recovery
image.
[STEP1] - Battery pull. Hold the BACK button and the
POWER button to boot into FASTBOOT mode.
[STEP2] - Download Android Flasher
[STEP3] - Download the recovery image . Put it in a place you
can remember.
[STEP4] - Run android flasher, tick "Recovery", and press
"Begin"
[STEP5] - Browse to where you downloaded the recovery
image, select it, and press "open"
[STEP6] - repeat [1] from [STEP4] onwards
#METHOD 2#
Method two uses cmd and requires Android SDK to be set
up.
[STEP1] - Battery pull. Hold the BACK button and the
POWER button to boot into FASTBOOT mode.
[STEP2] - Download the recovery image . Rename it to
"recovery.img" for simplicity, and place it in the following
directory:
Code:
C:\
[STEP3] - then in cmd type the following commands
Code:
cd c:\android-sdk\tools
fastboot flash recovery c:\recovery.img
fastboot oem gencheckpt (this command boots you into recovery, ignore the feedback from
[STEP4] - repeat [1] from [STEP4] onwards"
Im trying with AndroidFlasher .Problem is link to recovery.img is not working. Can you tell me the full name of recovery i should google and download?
TIA

Can't flash Clockworkmod Recovery

Just rooted my phone for the first time, and it went pretty smoothly until I tried to flash ClockworkMod. Nothing happens whenever I try to flash it from ROM Manager. I get a progress bar at the top for a second, then it disappears, and nothing. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the app, and can't think of anything else to do.
how did you root? if you used the wiki method you should already have cwm-recovery...
push power & volume - to enter bootloader and then choose the recovery option
if this doesn´t work, post your hboot number... you have s-off? (reason: if you flashed the eng hboot while rooting you can flash the cwm-recovery through fastboot)
command: "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img"
Go into Terminal Emulator and type "su." If it asks you if you want it to have root permissions, you have root.
Posted from Spaceball One
I rooted following the wiki.
I'm trying to install roms through rom manager and when I hit download roms it says, "You must have ClockworkMod Recovery installed before continuing! Install the recovery through ROM Manager First"
Sorry, all of this still confuses me, this is my first time doing this. I don't know what Terminal Emulator is.
ok, i will try to help...
1. download a rom of your choice to pc
2. put it on your sdcard
3. enter recovery (turn the phone off, then press power & volume down - the bootloader will appear, choose the option recovery (volume up and down for moving and tp-wake to choose)
4. in recovery first wipe data & cache & dalvik cache
5. again in recovery choose install from sdcard and select your downloaded rom
6. reboot and have fun...
pls hit the thanks button

The ROM manager and ClockwordMod you have after rooting following the wiki is a VERY old version. It will say you do not have Clockword even if you do have it.
Things to try:
1. Install ROM manager from the market.
2. Reboot into recovery (turn off the phone, then hold down volume and power until you see the HBOOT, choose recovery). If you're in ClockwordMod (which you should) then you're fine.
3. Flash a new recovery through ADB (which what you should definitely learn how to do)
3a. download the newest version of ClockwordMod, copy the img file to the same folder as adb
http://www.clockworkmod.com/rommanager
3b. go to settings, make sure that you're in USB Debugging Mode
3c. now, just to make sure you won't brick your phone, turn off the phone, hold down volume and power. If you see the FASTBOOT USB, you're good to go.
3d. open cmd in your computer
3e. type in "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img"
in which recovery.img is the recovery image you just downloaded. If you download it from the website I pointed, the command will be
fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.7-vision.img
Now you have the latest recovery. Go to recovery in the HBOOT menu to see the result, enjoy!
Terminal emulator: It will be one of the apps in your apps drawer, named "Terminal Emulator". May or may not be there depends on what ROM you're running.
Check for root using cmd: using command "adb shell", you should see
adb server us out of date, killing...
*daemon started successfully*
[email protected]:/#
Installing ROM: please try not to use ROM Manager, learn how to do it in Recovery at least. Because if you cannot boot to your ROM, runs ROM manager then you're stuck when something wrong happens (which is quite usual if you're flashing). Best way is to copy the ROM to your SD card, reboot to recovery, choose "Install from zip" then pick the zip file of the ROM. (remember to wipe data/cache and dalvik cache in the advanced menu)
Hope that helps!
Edited: http://www.clockworkmod.com/rommanager is down for the moment. I attached the newest G2 recovery img for you. Use either of them. Touch is more advance (and more confusing).
Disregard. Kyra was faster.

[Q] DHD stucked on boot logo

Hi all
I have a little trouble with my phone, because I did some stupid things on it...
I had android 2.3.5 with 3.12.405.1
So first I unlocked bootloader with htc-dev page, and now I know I shouldn't do that. Then after I found here a post what describes what should I do if I was noob and use the htc-dev. I followed the instructions so I can use the revolution hd zip and installed it.
After that reboot my phone and stucked on the htc boot logo. I can reach the 4text recovery menu and everything but I have no clue what should I do now. I tried the factory reset and everything what I found. Maybe I have to put back the original rom, but I don't know how to do it.

Hey
Thanks for the help, I'll try it afternoon
I did exactly the same: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=31211732&postcount=396
The procedure to do that is -
1. Download the attached zip file, extract it to Desktop or wherever you want using 7-zip/WinZIP.
2. Open the ROM zip file you downloaded. Extract boot.img from this zip to the previously folder which you just extracted in the above step.
3. Turn your phone completely off (pull out battery). Then hold 'volume down' while pressing power and continue holding it till you see a white screen with 3 green skateboarding Androids. This is the bootloader.
4. FASTBOOT will be the first selected option in the list. Press 'Power' to select it. Make sure that now it shows FASTBOOT in red under the initial green text.
5. Connect your phone to computer. See that the red FASTBOOT changes to FASTBOOT USB.
4. Open the adb_fastboot folder, open 'Start here.bat'. It will open a command prompt window in that folder.
5. Type 'fastboot flash recovery recovery.img'. You only need to do this once. It will flash 4ext Touch Recovery, which is better than CWM (thanks to madmaxx82 for the awesome recovery).
6. Type 'fastboot flash boot boot.img'. You will need to do this everytime you flash a custom ROM, but before you do so be sure you've copied the boot.img from the ROM zip to the adb_fastboot folder.
7. You should see some stuff like 'Sending data... data sent successfully'. If there's any error at this step report it here.
8. Once it has done everything and displayed successful confirmations, disconnect phone.
9. Hightlight BOOTLOADER and press 'power' to select it. Press 'volume down' to highlight RECOVERY and 'power' to select it.
10. Once you're rebooted into 4ext Touch Recovery, go to 'install zip from SD card', browse for the ROM zip file in your SD card. If you haven't copied the zip to SD card, go back a step, connect phone to computer, select 'toggle USB storage' and then copy it onto the SD card. Once you have the ROM zip on the sdcard, go to the main screen of the recovery, choose 'wipe/format'->format all partitions (except SD card). Now go back to main screen, choose 'install zip from sdcard' and browse to the ROM zip location, select it and confirm that you want to flash it.
11. When the flash process is done, go back to the main screen of recovery, and press reboot now. You will reboot into the custom ROM.
