twrp is a recovery that makes you able to flash supersu to root
I know this is gibberish to you so this is what you need to do:
1- download twrp from here https://dl.twrp.me/a5/twrp-3.0.2-0-a5.img.html
2- download this zip file https://s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/supersu/download/zip/SuperSU-v2.79-201612051815.zip
3. Enable USB Debugging from Developer options & Disable Fast Boot from Power settings
4. Copy the first file you downloaded to the fastboot folder and rename the file “twrp-3.0.2-0-a5.img” as “recovery.img”
5. Now Connect your Phone to the pc through usb cable.
6. Press shift and right click together. In the popoup select “Open command window here”
7. In the command prompt type “adb devices” .
8. If it shows the list of device attached the type “adb reboot bootloader”
9. After the phone boots into bootloader, in the command window type “fastboot flash recovery recovery.img”
10. Now in the phone ,using volume keys to navigate and power button to select, select reboot.
You now successfully installed twrp
Before following this, copy the downloaded super su zip to your external sd card of phone.
1. Turn off your phone & Then hold Volume Down & Power buttons at a time. Your phone should reboot into bootloader (HBOOT)
#Note: Use the Volume buttons for nevigation & the Power button for selection
2. Select Recovery. Your phone should reboot into Recovery mode (TWRP)
3. select “install zip from sdcard” & then Select “choose zip from sdcard”
4. Choose the #SuperSU.zip file you copied earlier on your device.
5. When it’s flashed, just go back and select “reboot system now” and your device should reboot.
its going to take sometime in the first boot
aaand you'r done.

hi,
I did a factory rest on my canvas a1 running on marshmallow. while rebooting after wiping data it is struck on the screen saying "Checking connection .. this can take a while.." there is no option o skip this.. anyone can help...???
Has the battery life issue been resolved in 6.0.1 ? I still haven't updated mine from 5.1.1 just because of the horrible battery life as reported by members. Would take the plunge only if its fine in 6.0.1.
I can confirm the battery drain issue has been resolved in this update. You'll be amazed with the standby battery life now, doze mode is finally useful.

I don't quite understand.
If you mean you currently have CM12, then yes.
If you want to upgrade to CM12, don't follow this guide.
I have two xt907's both set-up with CM12. I tried to flash back to JB but no luck. Boot loop after trying to flash stock recovery. So I went back to stock KK for now. I might just go back to CM12
This tutorial was tested on Stock Android 6.0.1 with unlocked bootloader
HOW TO
1) Install the ADB;
2) Copy the SuperSU file to the phone memory;
2) Disconnect phone;
3) Enter the Fastboot mode: Turn the phone on by holding volume (+) and the power button;
4) Connect the device via USB to the computer;
5) Copy the TWRP .zip file to the ADB folder (C: \ adb);
6) Right-click an empty area inside the Fastboot folder by holding down the SHIFT key on the keyboard and select the open command window option here;
7) Then, enter the following command in the command window:
Fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.0.2-5-Z00L.img
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
8) Then enter the following command:
Fastboot reboot
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
9) Your phone will reboot after entering this command. Once you send the command, press and hold the volume key (+) to enter the TWRP;
10) In TWRP go to Install and select the SuperSU .zip file. At the end of the installation, clean the Dalvik / Cache and restart the phone.
There, your Zenfone Selfie is rooted!
