Lcrkz0023 says it works here.
I'm using the Z1 Compact on T-Mobile here in the states.
Friday and Saturday the connection was kinda flaky. It would stay on 3G most of the time but jump around randomly between 4G, 3G, 2G, and disconnected even though I had full bars. T-Mobile customer support couldn't help so I bought a replacement sim to see if that would work. I haven't been on the phone as much today (Sunday) but it's been solid when I was using it. I did cut the previous sim myself from a normal-sized sim so that could be the cause of my initial problems. I've also disabled 4G for now so I'm only connected on 3G.
Another thing I noticed is that the com.sonyericsson.android.wakeup process eats up quite a bit of battery. I did some research and it seems to be related to fast dormancy. I'm guessing T-Mobile doesn't support it here but the phone is trying to use it. I hope this is just growing pains and that Sony will sort it out soon.
For TMobile USA users...even thought when you 1st install your sims card during it pre-set up it says that it downloads Tmobile's MMS settings but in fact it doesn't, you will need to go into APN settings and manually configure your settings to exactly this: (otherwise your MMS will not work)

thanks! it did download SOME settings, just clearly not the right ones.
Yep the new settings seem to work better and the com.sonyericsson.android.wakeup process isn't showing up anymore. :good:
New APN settings worked like a charm!
I Love XDA!! I've been waiting for this phone forever and got it once I saw here that people in the US were able to make it work. Then today I noticed my MMS messages were not working and wala, a post about my issue that immediately fixed it! Thanks so much!
On the screen protector issue I have scratches on the back already and I am debating taking the protector off or buying another to put over the top. When I tried to take the protector off my Z1s I couldn't get it off. Are there any secrets to taking them off? Any thoughts on whether to leave it and get another or take it off and let the scratch-resistant glass do its job? I like the idea of the glass being less prone to dust and fingerprints. If I need to get another one where is the best place to order it from that will ship to the US?

i've read that taking off the built-in screen protector will void the warranty. as for things you can install over it, there's a thread in the accessories subforum.

my connection shows 4g. i've only seen h+ for about 30 seconds after leaving the subway.
Looks like the D5503 is the only model available right now, and as all other XXXX3 Sony models, they don't have the AWS band. This means that if T-Mobile has LTE in your area, you will get HSPA+ on this phone, but you will be very likely to run into EDGE areas where there is no LTE deployed. To be a fully compatible device, we need the D5506 with AWS/1700 WCDMA. LTE in San Diego is pretty widespread, but I would still worry about not having an AWS compatible device.
I haven't even seen mentions of a D5506, I wonder if one will be released.

You're right. The spec sheets I had seen on other sites didn't have it on there. The official Sony whitepaper confirms AWS is supported:
D5503 UMTS HSPA+ 850 (Band V), 900 (Band VIII), 1700 (Band IV),
1900 (Band II), 2100 (Band I) MHz
GSM GPRS/EDGE 850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz
LTE (Bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 20)

Now I want one, but I don't want to pay full retail for it. My Xperia ZL was bought at full MSRP and sold it for way less than I paid. Worst resale value of a phone I've owned.

i'm not sure, as i'm a new convert to t-mobile and different carriers seem to use the same names for different technologies, but i think no. there's a seperate icon i've seen in screenshots that says 4g lte and i don't have that, just 4g. there's an article here on the difference.

I've spent most of yesterday and today trying to get LTE on Bell Mobility's version of the Nitro. APN configuration, SIM card, account provisioning have all been taken care of yet the phone cannot connect to LTE. Is there something I'm missing? H+ is hooking up fine but LTE is non-existent. I've been in touch with Bell and AT&T's tech support, customer service. mlee1999 (prior owner who was able to get LTE) has also been kind enough to try and help me out with this.
Thoughts anyone?
My only guess is that Bell and Rogers are using AWS 1700 MHz for their LTE networks. AT&T is using 700 MHz and thus is not compatible or 700 MHz is not enabled by default.
LiViD is correct about the frequencies but the Optimus LTE has 700 and 1700 turned on.
There is something else I went through with my Optimus LTE:
When i got my phone, my SIM was an LTE SIM, my Optimus LTE was an LTE handset, and my account was provisioned to a 1GB Data plan, but by some fluke, Bell only allows LTE on the $70+ 6GB plans and no other. I upgraded to the 6GB plan and rebooted my handset and presto! LTE came up.
One other thing is, are you in a LTE area or a fringe zone? might sound like a stupid question, i know.
Oh, and did you call AT&T to add this phone to the account, or just throw in your LTE SIM card?? Most carriers now require you to give them the ESN for LTE handsets to be activated on the LTE network.
Could I request you check my post out please? If you could help we'd be most appreciative!!
All provisioning on my account was confirmed with ATT. I also had them check ATT LTE in my area and they confirmed I should be able to get it.
Love to help you with the other thread but I've never pulled those files. Some brief instructions via PM and I'll give it a try.

Seen the first link and it didn't work. Just tried the second link and it caused a FC when trying to connect.
I just got off the phone with AT&T and they can't do anything with an unlocked device. They did look into to it to see if they could assist but since it's not a branded device, they couldn't do much. The tech did say that she could not see APN settings on her side which leads me to believe that without it being set I will not see LTE. As a little bit of background, I'm coming from an iPhone and have switched directly to the Optimus LTE. I had to go thru all the changing/updating and provisioning of my account and even replaced the SIM card all to no avail.
You'll probably have to wait for either a Radio ROM to be released or for someone to unlock the 700 MHz frequency within the factory OS ROM itself.
Not so sure about that since mlee1999 was able to get an LTE connection. Only difference is he was not coming from an iPhone.

cman6453,
You could try flashing the Nitro baseband to your phone and see if that does the trick. Make sure to back yours up first (and make sure mmcblk0p14 is, in fact, your baseband firmware partition).

Was there any evidence provided from mlee1999 saying that he was connected via LTE and not HSPA+? Something sounds questionable about that. If AT&T is using 700 MHz and Bell is using AWS 1700 MHz, that Bell phone would not work on AT&T's LTE network. Sure the device can be unlocked, but that won't unlock the baseband frequencies.
Well, i can assure you now that the 700Mhz band is operational with AT&T via this link:

I personally doubt that the phone is the problem (aside from the APN settings), I am leaning towards the carrier being the problem on this one (either APN issues or something on their backend).
I will keep hunting to try and help you.
I went out today and added a second line to my account. I even picked up a Nitro (going back tomorrow) to do more "research". As soon as I got home, I switched the Nitro SIM to the Optimus. No LTE. As a matter of fact, no data at all. As soon as I switched the Nitro SIM back into the Nitro all was fine and dandy.
My goal for this exercise was to be able to switch, EASILY, between an iPhone 4S and an LTE device. Well, doesn't look like that's going to happen. Even if I got the LTE to work switching back and forth would be too much work given how randomly I switch between devices.
So I've pretty much exhausted this experiment. Thanks to all that put in there 2 cents!!
Rep - I also think it's something on their backend that's preventing LTE from lighting up. I originally thought, put the microsim in an adapter, pop it into the LTE capable device and off I go...BUT noooooooo, 3 days of pecking and hunting and big brother beats me...DAMMIT! I'll live to fight another day!!
When I first tried LTE phone I also didn't have internet at all (though as phone it worked fine), I had to call ATT to activate my sim card on their end.
Quick summary of the steps I went thru to try and get the Optimus to connect to AT&T LTE.
1. Confirmed I was in an LTE area.
2. Changed my AT&T plan to an LTE data plan.
3. Confirmed APN settings on it were the same as that found on the Nitro.
4. Changed my SIM to a "70357" SIM. That's the SKU for the SIM that they're using on their LTE devices. I checked the Nitro that I purchased and VOILA, same type SIM.
5. Confirmed my new AT&T plan was associated to the IMEI for the Optimus.
When I swapped the SIM from the Nitro, I thought I was finally going to be in LTE heaven. Nope. Not a chance but I do have a good idea on what the problem is/was.
The Nitro's IMEI was associated with that specific SIM. I went thru this process when I initially changed my plan to accomodate the Optimus. The CSR asked for the IMEI AND the UICC from the SIM. Apparently AT&T's system doesn't recognize the Optimus' IMEI. The CSR mentioned that but was able to leave the IMEI as-is. I confirmed the IMEI was not recognized by going into an AT&T store and a CSR there noticed that my account was using a "regular" GSM phone when I asked about no LTE on the Optimus.
SO.....what I'm thinking was that since the Nitro's SIM was associated with the Nitro, when I placed it into the Optimus AT&T's system noticed the UICC of the SIM was not associated to the appropriate IMEI so it was denied access to LTE. Vice-versa with my original SIM when I placed that into the Nitro. As soon as I returned the SIM's to their usual devices, LTE returned for the Nitro. WHEW!!
Moral of the story: iPhone and LTE devices, at the moment, take a lot of work to swap out regularly. So, for now, I'll be sticking with H+ devices and going along my merry way.
In case anyone was still curious, here is the definitive answer on the Optimus LTE's AT&T LTE connectivity! I am on vacation back home visiting family in Illinois, and decided to bring my Optimus LTE along for the trip, to see if I got LTE in Chicago. The line is provisioned with LTE data, and has an LTE compatible SIM.
This makes me happy, because that means now I can import other devices with the 700Mhz or 1700Mhz LTE bands and be able to use them on AT&T's network!
Just got the z1 compact d5503. I activated a Lumia 635 go phone the other day that indicated it was on LTE. However, when I take the sim card out of the lumia and put it into the d5503, I only get H and H+. Why is that?

If att uses 700mhz LTE in your area then you will not get LTE since this phone does not work on that frequency
i recently purchased the Z1 compact and i have to say the LTE for it is spotty depending on where i am. Also, I'ved noticed that the phone shuts down data when connected to my wifi at home.
I am using StraightTalk (ATT service) and get LTE in places. Someone said ATT uses two bands and only one is compatible. Yes the data turns off when on wifi.. I think.

This thread is for those who bought T mobile 910Ts and are using them on ATT with working LTE and Custom Recovery. I thought t would be nice to have a centralized thread for non ATT devices being used on the ATT Carrier
Any issues, Rom Comments, should be posted as well. Include your phone and ROM in your Sig,
I received my T Mobile 910T from a seller at Swappa.com It was rooted and Rommed with FireKat V4 (I have since flashed V5) and see no reason to switch Roms.
However, The phone I received was not unlocked. I used cellunlocker.net for the code and it worked perfectly
allowing me to use my four year old ATT SIM from my N7100 Note 2 (even though the Costco Cellular Kiosk gave me a new SIM card free before my phone came)
I called AT&T and gave them the IMEI and they provisioned me for LTE even though the phone shows up as a flip phone on their site. . LTE is weak around here but the phone does indicate LTE when it's available. I paid $700 for the phone . There are less expensive ones available for those who don;t want to deal with T Mobile and a 40 day plan.
The phone uses TWRP or PHILZ Recovery and flashing roms is no different than it has been since the first ODIN version was used to flash a recovery TAR file. I prefer TWRP
I have no confidence in developers finding a way around the ATT bootloader lock nor the incentive to make it work like an international device anytime soon if ever. The only alternative for me was to get a developer Note 4 with Verizon. My wife runs an ATT S5 and does not need root so switching carriers would have been a non starter since we both are able to use 4G LTE

FROM Xda Member MIRCURY re Note 3 T mobile use on AT&T Much of the same applies
RE TMOBILE NOTE 3 ON ATT (Changing Note 3 to Note 4)
Much of the same applies
This is for people who have AT&T Service and are looking at the T-Mobile US Note 4 (N910T).
Why are people wanting to use a T-Mobile Note 4 on AT&T?
Because AT&T, much like Verizon, has tried to lock down their phones making it very difficult to use custom ROM's or apps that require root. AT&T and Tmobile's networks are similar. The N910T (Tmobile Note 4) is bootloader unlocked.
What does carrier/SIM locked mean? Is it the same as bootloader locked?
. US phones that operate on GSM networks require a SIM card. The carriers don't want you taking your phone to another carrier without fulfilling your contract so they lock your phone to themselves and the SIM cards they offer. Once you fulfill your contract or pay for the phone in full they should be willing to issue you an unlock code. Some carriers like T-mobile make you wait 40 days after you buy the device to unlock it. SIM unlocking the phone will allow you to put a SIM card from another carrier in the phone.
How can I carrier/SIM unlock my T-mobile Note 3 if T-mobile won't?
Several people have used cellunlocker.net including me. Select U.S.A. T-Mobile and N910T as your device. This also removes any region lock.
Will LTE work on AT&T?
Many people have confirmed that LTE works. There is no speed difference between an AT&T branded phone and the Note 4. Documents obtained from the FCC and also on T-Mobile's site say it supports the frequencies used by AT&T.

Root, custom recoveries, roms, and kernels for the T-mobile US Note 4
The T-Mobile Note 4 has a dev community that is growing rapidly. You have plenty of options to customize just about everything available on your Note 4 You can flash roms and kernels that give you extended run time and overclocking. We can even cut out the carriers and flash international roms with some modifications so we can have the latest and greatest directly from Samsung. Using custom recoveries such as TWRP will trip the KNOX counter.
For TWRP recovery is the recommended recovery for the N910T and is the first step to flashing roms and kernels.
TWRP 2.8.x.x TeamWin Recovery Project is available here http://teamw.in/project/twrp2
For CWM recovery use this.
The first step is to flash a CWM recovery . After that you can flash a pre-rooted ROM that is compatible with the N910T or flash SuperSU here.

No, most of the time it just works. In a few cases as with the international Note 1, ATT had a range of imei's programmed wrong in their database so it showed up as a phone that doesn't get the correct data plan (missing LTE or HSPA data) like an old blackberry/flip phone. It took them a few weeks to correct it.
Most everyone coming from a phone that has LTE should just be able to plug in their sim card and go, never having to talk to ATT.

No you don't have to call. In fact the general conscious is; doing so will get your LTE disabled by at&t. I would absolutely not willingly report my attempts to circumvent at&t's restrictions.
if you're going to make a new tmo on at&t thread, change the op to be a collection of known knowledge. let me get you started.
T-Mobile
Quad Band GSM; UMTS: Band I (2100), Band II (1900), Band IV (1700/2100), Band V (850); LTE: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 17

3G - UMTS 850/1900/2100MHz

I didn't HAVE to But I was running Wap. Cingualar APN on the Note 2 so they had to provision me to work with the Phone APN for LTE. I had an ATT S5 IMEI ready if the native APN did not work as well as a new SIM card.
I asked if there were any signal losses since it was not an ATT phone . He said "only thing I may miss are the ATT apps"'. I have a couple I use like Visual Voice mail. and the account app. Otherwise I am ok.
Did have to freeze the T mobile wifi over phone app s I was getting an error message everyday as that app tried to find T Mobile towers.

LTE band 20 is for ITU Region 1 EMEA (Europe Middle East and Africa roaming).
Band 29 is for carrier aggregation with band 4 in the US. (Band 29 is download only). It is implemented in a few large cities so far, Chicago being one. It is for capacity only; not speed. The n910t does not support it, but it's not a big deal at this point because it supports the normal LTE bands offering the same service.

if you're going to make a new tmo on at&t thread, change the op to be a collection of known knowledge. let me get you started.
T-Mobile
Quad Band GSM; UMTS: Band I (2100), Band II (1900), Band IV (1700/2100), Band V (850); LTE: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 17
AT&T
4G-LTE Bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 12, 17, 20, 29
3G - UMTS 850/1900/2100MHz
GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900MHz
so what are bands 20 and 29? they're international bands not implemented in the US.

Great Idea done.
Swappa is a good place for used devices as well. No Ebay fees and most are new resales. No need to deal with T Mobile at all

I did not find this to be an issue, after I gave them my T mobile IMEI. There are no phone restrictions.
They did not try to take LTE away and they did not care where I got the phone. They only want the service. I asked about that and was told things have changed and they are not penalizing those who buy elsewhere. They don't sell phones for profit and make no interest on those NEXT Plans. I think they want to get out of the $299 two year contract phone business and just sell service. In my case if they did not make it work, I was ready to jump to a developer Phone on Verizon. So the tech really wanted to make it work and he did,
I am using the same LTE APN as an ATT Phone,
They just have to be able to provision them for LTE, If you are coming from an LTE device you likely would not have to do anything but put the SIM card in.
My phone does not show up as a Black berry. So far just a unknown flip phone. I am disappointed with LTE speeds here. When the phone says LTE I get about 10 down. Verizon does about 23. ATT LTE is very spotty here. I use my wifes ATT S5 as a reference. Her phone does not get better than mine.
I think if you give them the IMEI also the phone will register in the ATT website as a note 4, don't think it will show the picture of a flip phone.
This helps with insurance claims if something happens. If I'm not mistaken
Here's some more conflicting information I gathered. This information comes from more reliable sources however.

Not sure where band 30 came from. I posted this here in October and it should help clear things up. Samsung's marketing site doesn't always have the correct bands. The back of the boxes for the phones/FCC test reports however tend to have the correct info.
Also @tbong777 could you fix the band 29 info in the OP? It should say it's for carrier aggregation in the US and not international support. Thanks!

I gave them my SM-910T IMEI and it shows up as a flip phone however I still show 4G LTE downloads where I can get LTE and the speed tests confirm its not standard 3G HSPA+
There have been mixed reviews on which IMEI to use. I got one off a demo S5 just in case and will keep it ready if I need it bit so far so good with my 4 year old SIM chip and 910T IMEI.
I would say if anyone is going to go this route you will have to be ready willing and able to buy a phone as warranty service would be doubtful. The good news is the phones are getting cheaper. For $200 I am keeping my International N7100 Note 2. Its worth more to me as a backup than the $200 I may get for it

I noticed the same thing but the important thing to remember is our T Mobile phones are working on AT&T in LTE mode.
I could not sort out all the information. But as more people chime in with 910T devices , some of those questions will be answered, I was confused researching and looking at "bands" etc. but what sold me was the real time users who were not having issues. I bought mine knowing I could sell it if I was wrong.
The only way I was going to find out for sure is buying a phone and decided to try it out on my own because there was some conflicting information. I had had no issues using an old Note 2 SIM on wap.cingular even giving AT&T the IMEI of T Mobile's phone. After inputing the LTE APN and having the tech ensure the provision was correct I was happy I test it against a know ATT branded LTE device and can confirm it works.
So I would not get too hung up in drilling down into the bands and frequencies at this point. Many of us are using the devices on AT&T without issue. Those who are having issues may get some help here.

LTE info:
LTE info including international band 20 roaming info is from here. It also show which blocks correspond with the bands.
Band 29 info is below. Fiercewireless is an telecom industry publication.
AT&T carrier aggregation plans/Mobile world Congress presentation here and here.
All LTE bands listed with their corresponding uplink/downlink frequencies. Some people only list the frequencies so this helps to find what band they are talking about.
UMTS info:
USA Cell frequencies in use here.
Phone info:
N910T info is from the back of the box and FCC reports.

Brick. City. Don't try it. Sell your phone and buy a 910T on Swappa. I bricked two Captivates back in the day when we could send them off and get unbricked for $50. I don't think that is available any more.
I'd bet the TMO and ATT Note 4 main boards are identical. Just different rom version #s and bootloaders.

Any unlocked sim phone will work for any other Sim carrier so yes. Companies unlock phones so that should not be an issue only thing usually unlocked phones will not get LTE on another carrier
Just got a T-Mobile G3 yesterday and using it on AT&T. No issues. LTE works. Just make sure you put in the right APN
Edit: I don't know how the wrong quote got in there....

Yes, just make sure after you activate the simcard you head over to Settings\ Tethering & networks\Mobile networks\Access point names
and use the correct settings for your network.
I'm using t-mobile version on att and lte works. make sure to enable proper apn and you are golden.

Does the Tmobile version have wireless QI charging available?
As long as you use a QI compatible back cover or a QI compatible Circle Case cover, yes, it does not come with the QI compatible back cover (U.S. carriers crap, unfortunately). You can use any backcover that is compatible with the 855 Model (International LG G3) and that has QI coil and it works fine (I'm using the original LG Circle Case like this one and it works just fine: http://www.expansys.com/lg-quickcircle-cover-for-lg-g3-titan-black-262284/ )
What APN setting do you use? I just unlocked a G3 today and on ATT 4g I am getting less than 1 Mbps, on my 55 I am getting 14.

However, after a reboot, I'm not getting LTE. I have data now, but it's some H icon with up and down arrows. Anyone know what that is or how to fix it? Speeds are 2 down and 1 up. That's terrible. Should be like 9 down and a few up.
You need to go into settings -> More -> Mobile Networks -> network mode and choose GSM/WCDMA/LTE for LTE to work.
Mine was set to GSM/WCDMA out of the box

Also cricket piggy backs off ATT Network which uses LTE Band 2 and LG G4 H815T doesnt support

Thanks guys! That was it. Funny thing is, I actually had it set to that earlier but set it back to how I got the phone when I was troubleshooting the APN creation and forgot to put it back. Got 4 down and 4 up which is more what I'm used to seeing at my house (faster in the city but I live in the country).

That would make it false advertisement by tropical_mobile, because they explicitly list b2(lte1900) in their description of the product. And having all AT&T bands present, minus 30, was a major prerequisite for my decision to buy from them.
If I don't get 4G speeds when my phone arrives, provided I correctly copy the AT&T settings from my current GS3, I guess I'd have to put their return policy to the test.
Is there a way to see which bands the phone is using?
ETA. LTE Discovery says that I'm on band 17. So, I should be good to go.
But that false advertising still stinks.

Makster, did you receive your G4 from Tropical Mobile? I was thinking of buying the same thing from them, but their communication hasn't been clear. Is it the Taiwan variant? And if so, does the Taiwan variant not have the b2(lte1900)? I know the H815T (Hong Kong variant) does not, but I wasn't sure about the Taiwan version. I mainly just want to have all the AT&T bands before I buy the international phone...
It's supposed to be delivered by 10:30 this morning. If I am not at work by then, I'll try to at least take a picture of the label on the box, if nothing else.
BTW, all of the tracking info, as well as seller's profile, says Singapore. I'm not sure if that indicates anything, though. The other guys, never-msrp, are from Taiwan.

The Taiwan LG site says that it supports band 2, and all the other bands that Tropical mobile says it does, so I would assume that would be the case.

I just wanted to make sure as the other seller "Never MSRP" lists band 2 as well, but when I contacted them they confirmed they are selling the H815T and it doesn't pick up band 2 (even though they have written that it does in their product description). Also, do you know if you can tether on cricket with these international versions without having to root the phone? I know on the Cricket phone I currently have tethering doesn't work due to a "network error"....

Just got the phone. I won't be able to post the photo I took until later in the day, so I can edit out the s/n, etc.
But the box says H815, NOT H815T, and the phone itself, on the battery compartment, says H815.
The box also lists all the bands the non-T phone is supposed to have, including Band 2.
Interestingly enough, there is "TWN" written in an empty space I the same label (far away from the model number).
Also, in case it matters, the default language offered was English (Singapore).
I turned it on to be sure it boots up, but other than that I'm going to exercise my will power and wait until the evening.

O.k. great, so I guess the Taiwan model is good to go as far as having the same bands as the UK model. Doesn't have the unlocked bootloader, but that is o.k. with me. When you get a chance to play around with it tonight, let me know if you can tether easily on it! I am going to buy it from the same source...thanks!
So, here's the box label. H815, no T suffix, B2 is there.
