I received my T Mobile 910T from a seller at Swappa.com It was rooted and Rommed with FireKat V4 (I have since flashed V5) and see no reason to switch Roms.
However, The phone I received was not unlocked. I used cellunlocker.net for the code and it worked perfectly
allowing me to use my four year old ATT SIM from my N7100 Note 2 (even though the Costco Cellular Kiosk gave me a new SIM card free before my phone came)
I called AT&T and gave them the IMEI and they provisioned me for LTE even though the phone shows up as a flip phone on their site. . LTE is weak around here but the phone does indicate LTE when it's available. I paid $700 for the phone . There are less expensive ones available for those who don;t want to deal with T Mobile and a 40 day plan.
The phone uses TWRP or PHILZ Recovery and flashing roms is no different than it has been since the first ODIN version was used to flash a recovery TAR file. I prefer TWRP
I have no confidence in developers finding a way around the ATT bootloader lock nor the incentive to make it work like an international device anytime soon if ever. The only alternative for me was to get a developer Note 4 with Verizon. My wife runs an ATT S5 and does not need root so switching carriers would have been a non starter since we both are able to use 4G LTE

This is for people who have AT&T Service and are looking at the T-Mobile US Note 4 (N910T).
Why are people wanting to use a T-Mobile Note 4 on AT&T?
Because AT&T, much like Verizon, has tried to lock down their phones making it very difficult to use custom ROM's or apps that require root. AT&T and Tmobile's networks are similar. The N910T (Tmobile Note 4) is bootloader unlocked.
What does carrier/SIM locked mean? Is it the same as bootloader locked?
. US phones that operate on GSM networks require a SIM card. The carriers don't want you taking your phone to another carrier without fulfilling your contract so they lock your phone to themselves and the SIM cards they offer. Once you fulfill your contract or pay for the phone in full they should be willing to issue you an unlock code. Some carriers like T-mobile make you wait 40 days after you buy the device to unlock it. SIM unlocking the phone will allow you to put a SIM card from another carrier in the phone.
How can I carrier/SIM unlock my T-mobile Note 3 if T-mobile won't?
Several people have used cellunlocker.net including me. Select U.S.A. T-Mobile and N910T as your device. This also removes any region lock.
Will LTE work on AT&T?
Many people have confirmed that LTE works. There is no speed difference between an AT&T branded phone and the Note 4. Documents obtained from the FCC and also on T-Mobile's site say it supports the frequencies used by AT&T.

Root, custom recoveries, roms, and kernels for the T-mobile US Note 4
The T-Mobile Note 4 has a dev community that is growing rapidly. You have plenty of options to customize just about everything available on your Note 4 You can flash roms and kernels that give you extended run time and overclocking. We can even cut out the carriers and flash international roms with some modifications so we can have the latest and greatest directly from Samsung. Using custom recoveries such as TWRP will trip the KNOX counter.
For TWRP recovery is the recommended recovery for the N910T and is the first step to flashing roms and kernels.

You have to call ATT and give them the IMEI? I had a S5 (wife has it now) from TMO and its unlocked and we just popped her sim on it without calling ATT and she gets LTE with no issue. Just wondering if its something new.
I'm thinking of selling my ATT note 4 so I can buy a TMO Note 4 myself

No, most of the time it just works. In a few cases as with the international Note 1, ATT had a range of imei's programmed wrong in their database so it showed up as a phone that doesn't get the correct data plan (missing LTE or HSPA data) like an old blackberry/flip phone. It took them a few weeks to correct it.
Most everyone coming from a phone that has LTE should just be able to plug in their sim card and go, never having to talk to ATT.

No you don't have to call. In fact the general conscious is; doing so will get your LTE disabled by at&t. I would absolutely not willingly report my attempts to circumvent at&t's restrictions.

I didn't HAVE to But I was running Wap. Cingualar APN on the Note 2 so they had to provision me to work with the Phone APN for LTE. I had an ATT S5 IMEI ready if the native APN did not work as well as a new SIM card.
I asked if there were any signal losses since it was not an ATT phone . He said "only thing I may miss are the ATT apps"'. I have a couple I use like Visual Voice mail. and the account app. Otherwise I am ok.
Did have to freeze the T mobile wifi over phone app s I was getting an error message everyday as that app tried to find T Mobile towers.

LTE band 20 is for ITU Region 1 EMEA (Europe Middle East and Africa roaming).
Band 29 is for carrier aggregation with band 4 in the US. (Band 29 is download only). It is implemented in a few large cities so far, Chicago being one. It is for capacity only; not speed. The n910t does not support it, but it's not a big deal at this point because it supports the normal LTE bands offering the same service.

Swappa is a good place for used devices as well. No Ebay fees and most are new resales. No need to deal with T Mobile at all

I did not find this to be an issue, after I gave them my T mobile IMEI. There are no phone restrictions.
They did not try to take LTE away and they did not care where I got the phone. They only want the service. I asked about that and was told things have changed and they are not penalizing those who buy elsewhere. They don't sell phones for profit and make no interest on those NEXT Plans. I think they want to get out of the $299 two year contract phone business and just sell service. In my case if they did not make it work, I was ready to jump to a developer Phone on Verizon. So the tech really wanted to make it work and he did,
I am using the same LTE APN as an ATT Phone,
They just have to be able to provision them for LTE, If you are coming from an LTE device you likely would not have to do anything but put the SIM card in.
My phone does not show up as a Black berry. So far just a unknown flip phone. I am disappointed with LTE speeds here. When the phone says LTE I get about 10 down. Verizon does about 23. ATT LTE is very spotty here. I use my wifes ATT S5 as a reference. Her phone does not get better than mine.
I think if you give them the IMEI also the phone will register in the ATT website as a note 4, don't think it will show the picture of a flip phone.
This helps with insurance claims if something happens. If I'm not mistaken

I gave them my SM-910T IMEI and it shows up as a flip phone however I still show 4G LTE downloads where I can get LTE and the speed tests confirm its not standard 3G HSPA+
There have been mixed reviews on which IMEI to use. I got one off a demo S5 just in case and will keep it ready if I need it bit so far so good with my 4 year old SIM chip and 910T IMEI.
I would say if anyone is going to go this route you will have to be ready willing and able to buy a phone as warranty service would be doubtful. The good news is the phones are getting cheaper. For $200 I am keeping my International N7100 Note 2. Its worth more to me as a backup than the $200 I may get for it

I noticed the same thing but the important thing to remember is our T Mobile phones are working on AT&T in LTE mode.
I could not sort out all the information. But as more people chime in with 910T devices , some of those questions will be answered, I was confused researching and looking at "bands" etc. but what sold me was the real time users who were not having issues. I bought mine knowing I could sell it if I was wrong.
The only way I was going to find out for sure is buying a phone and decided to try it out on my own because there was some conflicting information. I had had no issues using an old Note 2 SIM on wap.cingular even giving AT&T the IMEI of T Mobile's phone. After inputing the LTE APN and having the tech ensure the provision was correct I was happy I test it against a know ATT branded LTE device and can confirm it works.
So I would not get too hung up in drilling down into the bands and frequencies at this point. Many of us are using the devices on AT&T without issue. Those who are having issues may get some help here.

Brick. City. Don't try it. Sell your phone and buy a 910T on Swappa. I bricked two Captivates back in the day when we could send them off and get unbricked for $50. I don't think that is available any more.
I'd bet the TMO and ATT Note 4 main boards are identical. Just different rom version #s and bootloaders.

Can't you flash an AT&T firmware on a T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note 2 handset to get the necessary AT&T LTE Frequencies since the LTE radios on both AT&T's and T-Mobile's Note 2's are the exact same? Or is unlocking the Note 2 via T-Mobile more than enough to take advantage of AT&T's LTE Network?
Tread carefully, I'm currently trying to get my phone out of a rather nasty bootloop/corrupt IMEI situation after trying just that earlier today.
But I did get it to work, even pulled 35 Mbps on a speedtest.
Things went to hell after trying to revert back to the T889V modem. (In case I needed the AWS HSPA, for proof of concept and also warranty purposes).
so our phone's LTE modem is compatible with AT&T LTE bands? sweet.

Virgin Mobile Canada LTE SIM (previously confirmed working in an Galaxy S III), and yes the LTE icon showed up immediately, Speedtest says LTE too, and the speeds are way beyond what I had with HSPA in the same location.
Doesn't AT&T's LTE run on different frequencies; so will T-Mobile's Note 2 match with AT&T LTE Frequencies after flashing to AT&T's Firmware?

So yes, our phone has the ability to work on SOME of AT&T's LTE network, but not all of it; it will just depend on which frequencies they're using in your area. I believe AWS and 700 are new for AT&T, so they're probably fewer and more between at the moment, whereas their current network is mostly 1900 and 850. Not sure what kind of upgrade they have to do to switch their old HSPA 1900 towers to LTE support.
Silly question, so is a tmobile note 2 capable of handling AT&T's LTE network on the 850 and 1900 bands; is this something controlled by software, or a hardware limitation, I thought the Qualcomm radios on the AT&T variant and tmobile variant were the same.

band 7 2600 Supported by i337 and m919 band 7 used in Europe and Canada
The i337 (AT&T model) does the same LTE bands as the T-Mobile model. It only lacks AWS HSPA+ (3G), which the mod in this thread enables. I would have gotten the M919, but T-Mobile doesn't sell the 32GB model, plus AT&T variants are generally cheaper.
No model sold in the US (including the i9505G Google Edition) will do 800 or 2600 MHz. The i337M does though (Rogers Canada). Europe uses completely different LTE frequencies than the US.[/QUOTE] END QUOTE

The m919 according to this supports 2 and 5 bands that the i337 does not, i am new to this but as i said i picked this phone for international use aswell and would like to know the truth. But according to my information, Vodaphone in Germany uses to main bands 7 and 20. 7 Being the one that the US variant could receive.
since the I337 is basically the same in Canada, i looked up Bell

Both 4 and 7 are support by both devices, since 7 is on freq 2600mhz in Canada and is the same I337 as AtnT would it not be right to assume that the phone could get band 7 in europe? It is true that AtnT does not use those bands in the US but that does not mean the phone cannot support them. Furthermore i picked the M919 because of its native AWS support and the 30$ 5GB 4GLTE Tmobile Plan BOYA talk about savings..... I am curious to know if im correct, my research lends me to think I am. Europe uses mostly band 3 and 7! 7 Being the one you want!

They list there LTE in MHz but i believe 2600 IS band 7 which the US variants support. My confusion is that AWS is listed in there LTE part and in the US its under the HSPA part. A little clarification and first hand experience with internation use of US variant S4s would be great for poeple who have trouble getting good information from the other side of the world!!
Worst case tho im sure you can always get texting and calling and stick to Wi-Fi while travelling, but to us super-users, thats like going back to dial up.
Lol why are you copying and pasting my posts? As for your question, AWS is used for LTE on T-Mobile (and in very few areas by AT&T, which is why their devices also do AWS LTE). However, AT&T requests that AWS HSPA+ be disabled on their devices because they only use 850/1900 MHz for HSPA+ and it would only benefit those looking to switch to T-Mobile if they left that 1700 MHz band activated.
Considering selling my at&t note 4 when my pre-order is filled and buying a T-Mobile version to use on at&t.

ATT is not using those 2 bands in the US. (20 and 29 lte) It might be for international use in which case I'd rather have the tmobile ones. Anyway, according to Wikipedia they don't even own spectrum in one of those bands so deployment is years off even if they decide to do it. Plus the note 4 would have to go through the FCC again because it wasn't approved to run on those bands in the USA. Those extra bands are not anything to be worried about.
EDIT: Ok, I found some more info. There are no deployments of band 29 in the US yet. Band 29 is downlink only and is used with band 4. This will be AT&T's LTE advanced setup.

Ya, been reading up on it. I still think it will be a while before it gets deployed and probably if you're not in a big city you'll have to wait longer like the wait for LTE.

So let me ask you, when you say the T-Mobile version is missing the advanced lte bands (20&29), does that mean the phone will only miss the benefit of the next gen lte speeds?
So for example, 20&29 go live in my area, I have the tmo version, I'll still have lte just not super/advanced lte?

Ok first thing, band 29 is download only so it is used in conjunction with band 4. Band 20 is for who knows what but I haven't seen any news about ATT's plans for that band. It's not a part of ATT's LTE Advanced plans as far as I can tell. It may be there for international support only.

Also, ATT has said they are not doing their deployment of LTE Advanced to increase user speed. It is just for network capacity. So you might not see speed increases at all according to ATT's presentation at Mobile World Congress. Tmobile is in a better position capacity wise because it owns more AWS spectrum (higher frequency = faster data). They are deploying wideband LTE.

Can any of you with a T-Mobile device on a different network tell me what service you used to unlock your phone? I saw a mention of cellunlocker.net on one thread, but it says on their site it could take up to 15 days to get the unlock for the T-Mobile Note 4. Is this typical? I've never used one of these services, so I don't know what the better routes are. Thanks!
Att lte advanced has been deployed in NYC since the iPhone 6. It's fast but tmobile is faster I think.

How is network performance using the TMO version on AT&T? Last year with the Note 3, I had such horrible LTE reception I took it back. T-Mobile devices are not optimized for band 17 support. It comes down to: you want a phone that gets a great signal, or you want a phone you can root/rom.

From what I have seen everything should be working fine. If you live in a city that has LTEa you will miss or on improved performance with band 29, but that should not effect most people.

I went from a At&T Note3 to TMO Note4
Just put my Note 3 Sim into the Note 4 and am up and running for about a week now...
When I log in to my ATT online account it still shows The Note 3 though but as I said all is well for now.
I'm VERY concerned about buying this phone now. T-Mobile have only listed LTE bands 4 & 17 on their site.

It does have 1700! That's Band 4, and for both LTE and HSPA.
The T-Mobile version also supports WiFi calling and texting. I have no idea if the T-Mobile firmware can be flashed to the unlocked version, but I don't see why it wouldn't be feasible.

T-Mobile (Des) confirmed: 2, 3, 4, 7, 12, and 17
AT&T lists: 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 12, 17, and 29 (adds +5 and +29)
HTC Dev & Unlocked versions (per HTC on Twitter): 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 12, 13, 17, 29, 30 (adds +5, +13, +29, +30)
Maybe the T-Mo phone supports more that could be unlocked, who knows. The extra bands aren't useful to me.

HTC has done this on the past couple of phones. Only the T-Mobile phone will do their specific bands (HSPA+). On past models I don't recall anyone getting the ATT/DEV models to work with those T-Mobile bands. I don't believe we ever found out why. Some speculated it was due to cost to license all the bands, or that it is actually different hardware. The M7 and M8 were both like that.
If you are on T-Mobile, I'd get the model specifically for them.

Oh yeah I remember my Dev version being like that. Fortunately, I live in an area that has been upgraded to mostly lte. This was actually beneficial for me and maybe others in the same situation because it actually saves battery life when the phone isn't constantly switching between edge, 3g/+, and lte. I'm sure many others have been in an area that's barely out of lte but still within h+ range and it's still slow as edge or even slower.

Yes, it is OK if you live in a major area that has lots of LTE. Here just north of LA, I get into the other bands pretty frequently.
I am not sure this was answered? Do all versions of the HTC one m 9 support band 4 UMTS? Many ATT carrier unlocked models are for sale and no one seems to know if they will pick up the UMTS 1700 band 4 on T- Mo?

They will not pick up the T-Mobile specific bands, which use 1900/2100 for 41bps speed. They will work with the T-Mobile LTE band.
Wow, still a mystery. I have the AT&T SIM Unlocked One M9 and I have a TMobile prepaid SIM and get Edge, 3G, 4G, LTE Band 2,4,12...I cannot find an app that shows the actual WCDMA (4G) Bands ? But, it notates 42 MBPS when it says HSPA+ 4G using Network Signal Info-Pro App..and also shows 384 Kbps when it says 3G....
So, seems Des is correct unless the Network Signal Info Pro app is wrong?
I turned off everything except WCDMA, and this is what I get being reported by LTE Discovery. HSPA+ @ -113. I have a ATT unlocked M9. I do have the T-Mobile 2.11.531.19 firmware installed as well as the T-Mobile rom.

Thanks but as I mentioned I cannot find an App that shows the WCDMA Bands to confirm. As you can see even LTE Discovery says N/A for DL and UL Freq...when on WCDMA...
The only App I can see that helps is Network Signal Info Pro...and unfortunately it is limited and shows me the below in my market;
HSPA+ 42.2 MBPS
HSDPA 7.2 MBPS
UMTS 386 KBPS
But, does not indicate which Band or Frequency ?

Doesn't Metro use Sprint's network? If so, then Sprint requires a CDMA phone. The ATT N4 is a GSM phone.

Oh ok. In that case, TMO and ATT are both GSM. As long as the ATT Note 4 has the necessary Metro PCS bands, then the phone should work on that network once the phone is unlocked.

So doing basic research on Google got me this info:
"In order to connect to the T-Mobile 3G / 4G network a device must support UMTS and HSPA technology in the AWS 1700/2100 MHz band and PCS (1900) band. The T-Mobile 2G network operates in the Personal Communications Services (PCS) (1900) band. To connect to this network a device must support GSM technology in the PCS 1900 band."

So you basically need a phone that supports 700, 1700, 1900, 2100 frequencies.

The ATT version does not support the 900 or 1800 frequencies, but neither of these are necessary for Metro. Only 700, 1900, and 2100 are necessary, which the ATT version has.
Conclusion: The ATT Note 4 will MOSTLY work on Metro PCS. Voice calls, 2G and 4G should all work, but 3G wont.

Yes I have an At&t Note4 on Metro Pcs! All I had to do is an IMEI carrier unlock! Cost me $45 bc I don't know the process! I reasearched it online and sounded too difficult!
Yes this is possible i just activated the at&t on tmobile today on a free network sim unlock phone only needs to be paid in full and off contract before they release it then activated on your metro account
I ported in my ATT Note 4 to Metro from ATT 3 years ago and it mostly works, but the screen often freezes and sometimes I do not receive calls and texts that friends send me (they show me a sent text on their phone that I never received, and say they called and left a voicemail, but there is no such call indication or voicemail on my end). Once you leave ATT, you no longer receive software updates from them and Metro can NOT send me software updates because my Note 4 was originally an ATT Note 4 that I had ATT unlock it in order to port over to Metro to save money (I pay $100 for 4 lines of unlimited talk, text, AND data). My family members got LG Aristo phones from Metro when we ported in and have no problems, only me because mine is an ATT Note 4 purchased from Target, originally locked to the ATT network. I wonder if the reason my ATT Note 4 screen is freezing and losing calls and texts is because I am NOT receiving the software updates and have no way to receive them? My Note 4 cost $750 originally and it would be more than adequate, IF it worked as it should. The problems may be a result of 1) NOT getting the auto updates, 2) NOT having 1700 MHZ for 3G and having 900 instead, as this blog indcates, or 3) some other unknown reason. Does anyone know? Does anyone have any suggestions or solutions, short of replacing the ATT Note 4 with a new phone from Metro?
