I've read through most of the rooting threads, but haven't found any for Linux? I don't mind if it's a bit complicated, but I really want root.

I'm thinking about getting s4 and I wonder if there is Mr Robinson Root 66 for Galaxy S4? I'm currently using that root method on my Note 2. Can someone share some info because I couldn't find any links.

No, there isnt. But chainfire's auto root is just as easy.
I mean... can it get any easier than flashing cwm and su in odin? It takes 2 minutes...

It's no more unsafe than rooting/flashing on other devices. Just use this for root, GooManager or ROM Manager from the Play Store to flash either TWRP or CWM recovery respectively, and then whichever recovery you choose to flash the ROM of your choice. Not complicated at all, just make sure you read and understand the directions before doing it. If you're unsure of something, read more and search. I won't say every single scenario about rooting and flashing has been covered, but chances are any questions one may have, have already been covered.
The point is that if you feel unsecured about rooting thinking somethin is gona go wrong then give it to someone who has experience at rooting and you'll have nothing to worry about.. Read the stickies on the android development and it will give you info of what you want and need to know

I want to Root my wife's Sprint Note 2. I recently updated her phone to 4.3 through KIES. I have been searching for about an hour now and I don't see the best way to root this phone. I have read up on the Kingoroot and Chainfire methods. Neither one are very specific on if they work with the 4.3 update.
I really don't care at all about tripping the Knox counter, I just want the phone to be rooted with custom recovery. I am sure the answers are there, I just don't think I am using the right terminology to find my answers.
Kingoroot works fine. I along with many others have used it. For custom recovery just use odin to flash what you want. There is a guide on what knox files you should remove. Louforgivenot is the op of it. It is either in general or q&a

Thank you for the info...I had a feeling that was the way to go! One more quick question, can I flash a 4.1.2 rom after rooting?
You dont need to even root to flash a rom just odin the recovery. Bootloader and baseband/radio from mk4 work with all roms i have tried touchwiz and aosp.
FYI DONT ROOT 4.3 IN RECOVERY.

Hello i would like to root my s4 mini, but i want to keep everything stock. Including the recovery. Is this possible? Thanks

There are no root methods I know of that automagically install CWM or any other custom recovery. If all you do is root, all you'll have is root.
Also, in the future, if you post a topic in the Q&A forum and either don't get a response or don't get the response you want, you should refrain from reposting it in another forum.

This one does not involve flashing any custom recovery prior to rooting:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2611971
Some developers have also released some pre-rooted roms which do not need to modify the stock recovery..
You may spend some time searching for different methods.

Use the CWM method and after the phone is rooted, you can install back the stock recovery.
Attached. Unzip and flash in Odin as PDA/AP.
Ive looked thru the forums i apologize if i missed it. Ive got a sprint samsung galaxy note 2 running 4.3 ive tried to root and install a custom recovery using the toolkit, but it doesnt seem to take the custom recovery. if anybody could please help me.
I haven't tried rooting since 4.1.2, but I used ToolKit to root and it installed a custom recovery. From there, I just flashed the recovery I preferred to use. Maybe be worth while try using ToolKit. I believe there is an option to just install new recovery.

So i know ive gotta flash one of these but which one? Sprint Samsung galaxy note 2 4.3
which ever one you prefer first. I use TWRP. Some use Philz, which is based on TWRP. From what I've read, it may be good idea to go with Philz over TWRP when and after converting to Android 4.3; something about TWRP not backing up or restoring correctly. Obviously there is still ClockWorkMod (CWM). I can't attest to it because I haven't used it in over two years.
Odin doesn't work either.....I've been having the same problem. Been wanting to root my note 2 for some time now but to no avail.

try using odin3 v3.07 to flash philz 6.07.9 that works for me
