I would love to know how much memory is there? I can not find this info anywhere ...
Also what kind of processor do we have under the hood? What kind of capability does it have?
Can someone shed some light on this?

That is actually one of the important aspects of the watch I would like to know as well. I can not find any info on that one anywhere..
But thanks for the rest of the specs.
I think it is going to be around 1-4 GB
(as comparison; the Galaxy Gear has 4GB)

I totally agree with you on this one. I believe except the screen, the internals of sw2 is on par with pebble. And original pebble had 4mb ram while the pebble steel bumped it up to 8 mb. So I would say 1 GB is simply wishful thinking.

Yeah i think that sony uses the sw2 for just making a profit as big as possible like they do with theirs docks they ask 35€ for one here and when you pull the nails open you just see it are two parts of plastic with a magentic usb cable
I won't buy a sony watch till they make them like their smartphones quality first profit next i was mad at samsung for asking that much for a gear but at least it has some specs
What i would pay max for an sw 2 at the moment is like €80

Why should I buy a $300 Smartwatch with a lot of power and poor batterylife just for seeing my notifications?
The SM2 from Sony hasn't the best specs, but at a price of $150 it is definitly the best smartwatch. I've got the chance to switch the watches with a Galaxy Gear owner for two days...and he loved the SM2 so much more than the Gear, the best thing he said was the readabillity in bright sunlight and the long lasting battery.
He wouldn't get a Gear for this high price (He got it free, with contraction for a Smartphone), he rather would get a SM2 and pay half the price, but receiving the same (most used) functions.
And finally; If I want a lot of power (webbrowsing, and so on...), I just pick out my phone from the pocket...

I know this problem, I'm living in Switzerland and the SW2 isn't officially avaiable here, so you have to get an import product from a website or import it by yourself. I've got mine for about $160 with the metal strap.

I wouldn't pay $270 either for the SW2 (or any other Smartwatch). Guess you have to wait, 'till it's getting cheaper. Just to still my curiosity: How much does the Gear cost in your Country?

I would pay for a low spec device good money as long as the low specced hardware is utilized properly. I remember the old days of palm pilots. All they had was 33 MHz processors with 8 to 16 MB of memory but they performed wonderfully for what they were intended to compared to higher specced windows mobile handheld computers with 100 to 200 MHz processors and 128 to 512MB memory.
I don't think a smartwatch needs that much. If the apps for it are in the orders of 100 kb and optimized, it should be fine. But even then I would like to know how much memory does this smartwatch has.
What Sony should do is let the developers utilize full potential of the watch. Open it up Sony!!!
Take pebble for example. It has low specs but I love the way it functions. I would have bought it instead of SW2 but it is not available in my country and dealing with customs is a big hassle. So I bought the SW2. I am not saying SW2 is bad, actually most of the time I love it. I would like just a bit more customization options like ability to install native apps that does not rely on the phone to function like the alarm or stopwatch on the SW2. Also option to install native watchfaces would be welcome. That is why I am saying OPEN it up Sony.

However the SDK can be used only to create smart extensions (apps) for the Sony smartwatches, but has nothing to do with alternative firmware development as the Open Smartwatch Project for the SW1.

I was thinking about getting a tablet, I want something smaller than 10.1. I was thinking either the Galaxy tab 2.0 7", Sony Tablet S, or an Archos 80 G9. How do you guys like this tablet? Is it good? I want something mainstream because I know im getting a good product, never heard of archos but it looks better than those ****ty chinese tablets.. how is it?
This tablet is very good
but for the screen i prefer the Gtab 2
I'm satisfied by mine. Some reboot, screen note always excellent but really good value for money.
I have got the turbo model in 1.5ghz and 1go of ram.

Galaxy Tab: Horrible TouchWiz UI
ARCHOS: Plain ICS Google UI
Sony: Same as ARCHOS (on their tablet(s)
The tablet is amazing
The turbo version is blazing fast, it looks okay (especially with a silicone skin). Only bad ting about the tab is the camera and the viewing angles for the screen. (I usually use it upside down because you can see things better...)
You should just go to a store and try it out. Btw, the stand is nice as well

So to say...
The viewing angles are not bad but could be better, compared to other (but sometimes more expensive) devices.
In fact you might live with it.
As already stated, the A101G9 viewing angles are awesome and much better than on A80G9.
I prefer the A80G9 though, because it is much more handy and little less weight than the A101G9.
Concerning performance, both devices are fast enough to work with pleasantly.
The 512MB RAM is enough for most cases (we always like more, don't we?).
Also battery live is O.K., at least about 3 days at average usage (average is to be defined, if you ask for).
Always consider these tablets are placed at low/mid price, so don't expect iPad quality, when you look at the housing, buttons and stuff.
I would also advice, to go to a shop and check it out yourself.
Regards,
scholbert

the viewing angle with an a101 is much better than on a80. if this is important for you, try an a101.
one word about quality (my experience):
yep, the price is ok. you get a lot of features for your money but...
i had (and have) some problems with quality of hardware.
my 101g9 is not my first archos. with 101g8, the usb port was broken 3 times with that model after few weeks and was changed 2 times (same defect). this story ends with a broken usb again (brandnew, 11 days in use). shi* happens i think and then i took the new model 101g9. with my new 101g9 i can't use gps since first day (shipped with hc). the reason is not clear. maybe firmware or hardware defect? i don't know. i'm not alone with that problem. take a look in different fora. you have a 50(?) percent chance to get a full working device.
pros:
price, screen quality (101g9 model), android 4, fast firmware fixes (compared with other manufacturers), fast hardware, excellent support from xda-developer forum
cons:
quality check is moved to users
i'm satisfied in general, but some details make me angry.

The specs seem too good to be true ! But, if such a model is made available in my country then I'll buy it for sure. And I don't think it can be as early as july if at all it's released.
Yea idk, this seems like a wishlist more than anything.
They should wait for a year for new flagship phones
I doubt though.
With those kinda specs, its going to be a beast of a phone alright! Dimensions and weight wise that is! This rat race needs to stop and instead manufacturers need to optimize their HW and SW to work better together.
Haha, you want them to pay people to write better code instead of just selling you a phone with a faster CPU/etc? Funny guy. OCD third party developers are our only hope for better performance, major OEMs just try to make sure they have similar features to competing phones and will continue to upsell minor upgrades.

it'll flatten out(i think it's starting to do this already) and people will start to worry about realworld applications vs sythentic benchmarks
same thing happened with megapixels and cameras
same thing happened with engine displacement and cars
same thing will happen here
honestly between the one s4 z and zl and nexus 4, your performance will be the same (+10-20% isnt usually enough to justify a price bump to the avg joe), people are buying one of those because of the accessories, aesthetics, ergonomics, battery life, display or marketing, not because the krait 400 is 15% faster than the krait 300, and to boot, all those phones use the same gpu ;p
we're going to hit a plateau with "Smart-phones" as we did with java phones(ill toss symbian in here, even though its smart phone system), and to differentiate, you'll see sony/nokia start splitting the lines up as they did earlier, cybershot/walkman/Nseries/Eseries etc.. as internally, things will be pretty much the same
the more things change, the more they stay the same
If the 2013 flagship Z and ZL models cost close to $800 U.S dollars, what will these monsters go for .. $1200 ? Come on people, there has to be a limit on what a consumer will pay for a PHONE!
At this pace Sony phones will cost more than Sony Vaio laptops, and those aren't cheap.
it will cost the same as ZL and Z when they are released, and ZL and Z will drop in price. Just hope the S800 spec is true. Its suppose to be 4K video play back ready right, hope the Phone can shoot 4K video even if the screen is not 4K. Just to be future proof.
battery should last for more than a day for medium use or it's not so useful.
one smart phone company focus on cost down and another focus on cost up with elegance

a failure is an amazon phone now costing 99 cent within a few weeks of its launch.
( response to 300 vs. 320 from moto)
Update:*Here's Motorola's statement on the matter:
The typical battery capacity for Moto 360 is 320 mAh and the minimum is 300 mAh. In the mobile industry, sometimes both the minimum and typical capacity is listed on the battery, with the typical capacity quoted as the official battery size. Both figures are included on the batteries of our Moto X, Moto E and Moto G devices. In the case of smaller devices, we aren’t always able to list both figures. For Moto 360 we only had room for one figure and choose to list the minimal capacity of the battery. We see how this can be confusing and we will look into ways to add the typical capacity as well in the future.

To cut costs, probably. The engineering team evidently had a very tight budget.
I assume they had some in storage from MotoActv or a phones (Droid 2 I think) that it was sunk cost already. So the processor was in effect free. By the time they run out, the overall cost of the watch will have gone down and throwing a new processor won't affect the profit margin. Maybe they plan to limit Moto 360 V1 to just building the amount they have chips laying around. Then use something new in V2.

Somebody in marketing did a good job of dancing around the truth with that one.
a) There's clearly plenty of room to write both numbers on the battery without even reducing the font size.
b) Web pages don't have a length limit. If they were being honest, they'd have written both numbers on the website, or only the smaller one, not the one that's untruthful.

It's not three years old, it's 5.6 years old. They announced it in mid-February 2009:

Yes, I know. Ditto.
It has not shown up at ASUS US site yet, but it's available at Best Buy.
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/asus-ze...lack/7650139.p?id=1219681450081&skuId=7650139
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/asus-ze...lack/7649882.p?id=1219681443557&skuId=7649882
The spec looks very promising for 8" model:
4k (2048 * 1536) IPS touchscreen
2GB (4GB for 64GB model) RAM
choice of 16GB ($180), 32GB ($200), and 64GB ($300) NAND + micro SD
Android Lollipop
7" model is very cheap ($100)
1024 * 600 IPS touchscreen
1GB RAM
16GB NAND + micro SD
Android Lollipop
The question is the bootloader locked or not; if so, we may have hard time to root.
I am basically waiting for atleast a root or something. But I might not be able to wait that long, I really want to buy this.

Actually, I don't really need root as 5.x has a new method to allow the app to save data to memory card as long as the app supported.
I tried the unit in person and I really like the screen (very sharp and bright), but it's difficult to get accessories even the size is similar with iPad mini (front speakers killed it).

I was more so speaking in terms with titanium backup to freeze some of the Bloatware
i've already rooted it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/zenpad-s-root-achieved-t3160422/post61941689
you should probably do a nandroid as your first step for just in case. i haven't done one so i have no clue if it restores properly.
you achieve root through a temp/tethered cwm.
hopefully someone can take all that and maybe make it simpler. i'd love to have a perm cwm or twrp.
i think it may have been more appropriate to have posted it to this subforum.

How do you do that? I'd love to add my name to the list. I know I should wait and see before buying, but I couldn't resist. Moved from a Lenovo Yoga Tablet 10 to this one. Still have 14 days to play with it, so we'll see how it goes. Even though the Tab S 2 is coming in the same 4:3 ratio, I'm sure it'll be priced well above this one, since its got the octacore and whatnot.

samsung is juicing the hell out of that exnyos5. sad thing is that almost all their "premium" tablets run pretty much on the same hardware but they've abandoned the galaxy note 10.1 2014 - the first with that processor.
i'v read that tablet is gonna be over $500.

That's true. $500?! Wtf. I know they have an 8 and 9.7" version...I'm guessing 399 for the 8 and 499 for the 9.7"? Back to trying to compete with Apple, I suppose. I wanted something different to go with my 6+, so I've been bouncing around tablets using the 14-day return policy (though two were defective anyway so they didn't sount). Maybe I should just wait for the 4GB version of this one. Here's hoping we get a forum and some major interest soon. I'd love to run CM and a few others on this thing.

Hey,
You can check out bestbuy for Tab Pro 10.1 which is similar EXCEPT S Pen.
I really don't want Samsh*t, but, unfortunately, most of manufacturers are digging on basic models (720P screen, 1GB RAM, 8-16GB NAND).
I used to own two Asus ME572c, but both are broken (and one of them thrown out of window). I wanted the third one but it's no more.
The only thing I don't like is 4:3 ratio which leaves HUGE black stripes when watching TV and video.
Samsung makes good hardware bt lack in support and charge near apple prices. at least with an apple you'll get some support for the money you dump into it.
I love 4:3 for web browsing and reading. portrait is easier to hold and having the extra width (compared to a 16:10 of the same diag size) is great. but when you watch movies you do feel like you're losing some real estate... unless you're watching an old TV show like Oz.
I considered getting the tab s 10.5 but gaining an amoled wasn't worth giving up the pen. the note pro 12.2 is exactly the same hardware as the 10.1 but has a more recent OS last I looked.
Good afternoon (or morning depending on where you are LOL)
For those of you who purchased this tablet, how do you like it so far? I am looking to replace my boyfriend's nexus 7 (also made by ASUS) since the charging port stopped working. He doesn't care about rooting, and basically uses it to browse the net, facebook and play games like Candycrush lol I'm thinking the 32GB model for $199 will suffice, although he may end up with the $99 one if there's expandable memory. I didn't see anything about a MicroSD slot on it. Is there one?
yes it has a mSD slot. I think it only supports up to 64GB. I'm loving mine. main use is book and comic reafing, plus web browsing. I've tested a couple games- Minecraft and soul calibre and both ran flawlessly. don't let the speaker size fool you, this thing is loud and clear!
no regrets buying mine. trying to get my daughter to let me buy her one but she won't let go of her memopad!
only downside right now is lack of accessories. I can't find anyone that can get me a case until after August. I love how thin this tablet is, but it feels so dainty without a case, lol.

Finally I got mine from Best Buy.
The way I root is following the instructions above, but...
1. choose T2 in command prompt
2. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE 32GB or lower SD card (CWM does not support FAT64).
Compared with ME572c:
572 is a bit louder
Quadrant is around 14000 (572 got 18000)
Antutu is 37000
It's recommended to have protection on the back
Bootloader is not locked (as of now even after updated to latest ROM)
The viewing area is about the same with 9:16 videos
It only supports B/G/N Wi-Fi, no 5GHz
Backup from 572 can be restored in this unit except system apps
You can tap the screen twice to wake like LG units.
The store rep told me Z580c is selling pretty fast, and I found it's already sold out in many stores in Manhattan (I got mine at Atlantic Terminal store where only has one unit left)

Actually, I'd like to get the 10.1" model as well, but BH (bhphotovideo.com) doesn't have it in stock yet.
$180 with 2GB RAM is pretty unusual.
If 10.1 models came with unlocked bootloader, it will attract a lot of developers.

pretty good specs for under $200. i'm supposing they didn't include 5ghz on this model either given how cheap it is. 1280x800 isn't as bad a resolution as some people make it out to be at such a small size unless you're looking at tiny old fonts. movies have very little benefit going to 1080 at this size.

It seems that it fits in the generic 8 inch tablet cases. Bought one at Five below yesterday... Said it fit the kindle HD and iPad mini. The hole for the camera even lined up. I brought the tablet with me to make sure it fit.

Gosh, I hope so. I seriously doubt Android Wear 2 is simply too strenuous on the processors to not be ported. I understand the TI processor in it is rather proprietary and no other Wear devices use it, but I can't believe Wear 2 would warrant new hardware.
I don't think I'll be able to buy another moto product again. I just don't trust them anymore to do things right. I own a nexus 6 and that has a screen flicker when charging, red tint on low brightness, and a speaker that crackles on low battery. I'm on my second moto 360 due to a cracked back (seriously glass back? Are you kidding me?) and the one I have now has a cracked back too after a few months. The first one was due to my wrist movements cracking it, and the second due to the metal band hitting the glass back. I hate apple products just because they are overpriced, have terrible batteries, and the screen is designed to break when dropped. HOWEVER, Apple is #1 at supporting their products until the very end with software updates and they never have an issue that isn't caused by user error (even tho the media says the bend on iphones is an issue, that only happens to the stupid people who throw their phones and sit their fat rear end on them constantly).
Hopefully one of you awesome developers out there ports it over for us. Otherwise I think I may be done with smart watches for a while. The only good looking one is the huawei watch but its too expensive and doesn't have 4g. The lg watch urbane has an LTE model... But it is ugly.
Oh android makers and their obcession with shooting themselves in the foot...

Moto support comes 2nd place in the worst support after Apple, now that lenovo owns Motorola. Things just went from bad to worse

I would typically rip on Samsung and their lack of updates, but I really can't because their only android wear watch got the 1.5 update and they don't even support android wear anymore!
So does anyone have any plans to port 2.0 over?
I would be eternally grateful.
That's the support early adopters get from Motorola... none. Us users who had to go through cracked backplates, screen burns, software glitches and patches will not get further official support. Team Moto -10 points.

is not that easy.
main problem is that you would need to flash it through the factory cable (I think 2% moto 360 users have one)
second, this watch is based on TI OMAP cpu, and is the only one with this SoC. porting without a similar device is hell. and this porting would make happy 2% moto users. not worth
G watch is more likely going to have a porting, it has standard s400 SoC.
fortunately I never sold my g watch, battery and performance is much better than moto 360.....
go on guys, buy next one or wait for qualcom 2100 chips for wearables

Only an issue if Wear 2.0 requires new kernel features. As long as the changes are only in userland, the specific SoC is not that big a deal.
Adding my voice to the choir, happy to contribute towards some smart Moto 360 hacker doing the port when the time comes.
I get that I can continue to use the watch with old firmware, but then I'd have different UI's on my different watches and it would get very confusing. I just want latest Wear on all of them. These ultra-short support cycles go against the grain especially for watches. Big thumbs down to Moto/Google on this one.

I wouldn't say it's short, it just hit the 2 years standard support. it's time to drop. maybe we bought it recently and we're disappointed (I bought it 6 months ago. and I felt a 6 month support) but is definitely not short
