I know that this is in the wrong area, but I could not find the area for the US Cellular LTE version of the sIII, if a moderator could move it to the appropriate are, that would be much appreciated.
I flashed a version of the MIUI rom that was meant for the GT-I900 version, but from the description it looked like it was for ALL s3's.
After finishing the aroma installer, the phone rebooted, or rather didn't. It powered off but didn't power back on, and I had a charged spare battery that I put in to see if that was the problem, it wasn't. I've done everything I can find documentation on, but to no avail. I've heard of ways that I could use an sd card with an image on it and odin mode that would load a version of download mode on it in a way that I could flash a fresh image, and it has had very positive results, but I haven't been able to find any version of the sd card image that is actually designed for the USC version. i also heard of using a usb jig, but it has had varied results on hard bricked phones and I'd rather not mutilate a charger or cable for a procedure with such varied results. Any help is much appreciated, as this is my only phone aside form my old g1, and it is the phone I use as a phone with google voice, without it I can't do any texts or any phonecalls, it's as dead as it can get right now without being physically broken, no download mode, no nothing. It doesn't do anything except for prompt me to pull my hair out, I'm almost at the point of taking out the mother board, getting a new one, and doing a video of some target practice with the old board. Also, if there is any way to recover the contents of the internal sd, that would be great, as while I made a cwm backup to an external sd, my photos and all of my music are on the internal. Thanks in advance!:fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed:

the contortions I had to put my hand through to get that combination were epic:silly:, but to no avail, I have no haptic feedback, nor even a charging light
I tried a method that uses the sd card to try and boot, but I had no success through the 3 files I tried
I'm probably going to need jtag, but I don't want to have to pay $30 for the service, if possible
are there any cheap jtag boxes I could buy? I have this http://www.fonefunshop.co.uk/cable_...y_S3)_JTAG_Jig_(+_1_X_12_Pin_Molex_Port).html in mind as I'm not too hot at soldering (pardon the pun) and don't want to have to borrow one
I've heard people talking about a jtag rig, but the actual specifications or requirements for one such setup seem shrouded in secrecy, it's not like I can find a single one that advertises a price lower than 120
I haven't found them for less than $25
and that's for the service, not the unit
Is riff as good a jtag as they make it sound? I found an adapter that will allow me to plug it in without soldering, but are there any files that I'll need to unbrick it? Also, how much does riff cost from their site?

Possibly try a jig, if that doesnt work(and it probably wont as you've borked your bootloaders) send it to mobiletechvideos and pay $60 for them to JTAG it, they are a very reputable company and have done the service for one of my captivates. Be more careful next time and at least you dont have to pay samsungs near-$200 price to fix it!
On another note if you dont want to have to deal with shipping(and you should get shipping insurance, cost more but worth it if the device disappears) you may be able to find someone locally that does JTAG service for the GS3 but I haven't seen anyone around me that does it.
I'm pretty sure a JIG should get you into download mode...I always thought a JIG is a sure fire way to get you into download mode. There is a thread somewhere that has a list of forum members that have JIG's and where they are located, if you don't have the money to buy a JIG you might be able to find someone to let you borrow theirs.
SO............................You thought your question was so important that it deserved to go in the original dev section.

No i didnt, if you read my origional post i said i made a mistake and asked if it could be moved.
As already stated a usb JIG requires some functionality of the bootloader, if it is completely nuked it will not work. The reason being the jig is simply a short circuit which triggers the bootloader to fire up, the most basic of functions being download mode. The bootloader from a different device may or may not have a similar enough instruction set to trigger the process. If none of the methods of [hopefully] getting into download, i.e. pulling the battery and letting the caps discharge, or booting the phone with the usb connected with or without the battery...chances are slim (although not impossible) a jig is going to do much. It is fairly simple to make your own jig as outlined in this thread although it does require fairly precise soldiering ability and a usb micro cable one would be willing to sacrifice. Most likely in this case JTAG is required to manually send an industry standardized set of signals to the PCB to jumpstart the bootloader into download mode.
If you're close to Austin I'd be glad to help. Jigs can help in some situations but I think this will not be one. Every other case of flashing the wrong boot loaders that I have seen has resulting in a non functioning phone or download mode even with a jig. I personally bought one back when I had my captivate because I had one that didn't have the button combo for download mode. Ended up with a soft-brick for a week one time while I waited for the thing lol.

Hello, I have a malfunctioning rooted, unlocked, and Clean Rom Lite 1.1. After searching I realized this phone has a charging and battery issue. Which are tied into my problem here, because I cannot identify whats screwed up with the phone till I have a nicely charged battery. However the phone doesn't act janky until the battery is low.
This phone however does not handle a low battery well, it tweaks out and really sucks. My question is when i have this thing charged what should I do to it to simply function properly. And what does this phone typically do with a low battery? Because it is not normal for it to reject a wall socket and accept a computer usb port as a power source. That doesn't make sense and I do not believe this phone is bricked, it just works like crap.
I have a custom recovery mode installed too and have a back up. What should I do to my phone when it has a full battery to make it not unusable?
Thanks,
P.S I tried to make a good thread, I usually catch a lot of flack for not searching but this is rather unique I believe.
So you manage to find a ROM in your section, but post your question in the wrong section, strange. Try asking in the "at&t, Rogers one X, one xl" forum
Never heard of a phone refusing to charge. Try change ROM, kernel or go back to stock. If it doesn't work, probably hardware issue.

Hi, thanks I have posted a thread in that forum. It didn't seem to garner much of a response. After flashing the phone with Clean Rom 5.1 the home screen buttons flash and the phone shuts off.
It usually does that when you hold down the power button for ten seconds. Nothing jamming the button?

I rooted the gs2 for a friend and he accidentally flashed a rom for the international gs2(i900 or something)
The phone doesnt show any signs of life now. At all. Doesnt go into download mode or recovery or anything.
I read the only two ways to fix would be either replacing the mother board or using JTAG but both look immensely complicated and difficult
Any way to fix this bad boy?
JTAG flash only. I feel your pain, buddy!
Replacing the motherboard costs a lot more more money. JTAG flash costs around $100 everything included, but you need to mail your phone to someone who does JTAG flashing. You can't do either one by yourself.

A Samsung phone doesn't appear to have any ROM (ROM as in Read-Only Memory). It is all EEPROM: a big flash chip. Everything is in there, including stuff you might be surprised to find: like your phone's IMEI. That's right! If you buy a stolen phone, you can change its IMEI and use it: It's illegal, but technically possible! Samsung has been criticized for this, had your phone had a true ROM to contain your bootloader (which you really never need to change), your phone would be totally unbrickable!
So one of the interesting things that EEPROM contains is the your phone's bootloader, the very thing that allows that Download mode that makes rooting possible. It's in a partition of its own in there.
Problem is, in Download mode all you get is a flash chip inside your phone, which you see as a giant block device which you just flash with a prepared image over parts of the chip. So, if you flash an image not meant for your phone, you steam-roller over partitions, rendering them digital confetti: flashing is like low-level formatting your harddrive. If you blow away the bootloader, you loose Download mode. You are done, your phone can no longer bootstrap unaided.
What JTAG flashing means is, your phone gets taken apart, they attach a flash programmer to a service port, and then drive it to copy stuff on it. They load it up with an image from a working phone.
Have you tried forcing your phone in to 'Download Mode' using a USB Jig? Correct me if I'm wrong, but from my past experience I have accidentally run into the same issue (although with the first gen Samsung Galaxy) of flashing a ROM from a different Galaxy variant and ended up with a phone that did not turn on and had no way of accessing recovery/download mode through button combos, thinking it was completely dead.
However, I luckily new someone who had created a USB Jig and was able to use it on the bricked phone to get in to download mode. After being able to access download mode I just had to make sure I connected the phone through Odin and flashed a stock ROM to it.
Before sending your phone out to have a motherboard replaced or have it Jtagged, it's worth a try. Otherwise, kangelov is correct when he said that flashing an image from a different phone will completely remove all the partitions needed to enter the bootloader or download mode.
Best of luck to you!
Alright thank you so much guys. Samsung phones always confused me but now I understand. Ill try and make the jig and get back to you.

The Jig should automatically turn your phone on and load up the phone to the 'download mode' screen. Which one did you buy? Hopefully it is using the proper resistors as the one mentioned a few posts above.
Edit: I know this is pretty obvious, but make sure your battery is charged (at least more than 50%)

Hey guys, so running 4.3 MK3 on the GS3 (OTA) I made an idiotic mistake and ran EZ-Unlock and believe it has corrupted the boot loader. I've poked around for about 3 days and haven't found anything that shows a sign of life for this phone. It does get a Red LED when you pull the battery and plug it in and dissipates after about 30 seconds. Cannot get into Download/Recovery. Odin will not recognize the phone. I would like to avoid a visit to Sprint so thus said.. I reach out to you all for some help. Any ideas? I have yet to go purchase a Class 10 SD Card and try that method.. Do you guys think this would work?

May or may not work, only other option is JTAG service. You may have a repair shop around your area or you can search for JTAG repair on ebay.

I'm going to get the SD card most likely in the morning. I did see a thread of other people successfully recovering from the same thing I did, so I am hoping this will work for me. I have successfully unbricked 2 phones with the sd method, but that was before the whole KNOX thing came about. JTAG is your best bet. Do you have any local repair shops around? They may have the capability of doing this, as it requires soldering wires to the motherboard, and reflashing the bootloader.

I am not sure about Repair shops capable of doing such around here.. I'm sure they will want a hefty chunk of change. Yeah, this KNOX junk is really funky. I know I made a boob of a mistake and all, but sheesh. I'm crossing my fingers the SD Method will work. I have fixed my hard-bricked Sprint SGS3 without J-Tag and I have recently flashed using the same updated file and hard-bricked again! I cannot for the life of me figure out why the drivers are not installing correctly, therefore, ODIN dos not recognize my phone. WHY? Please don't bother replying with J-Tag as my only option. I am using Windows Vista and Windows 8 on another pc....In response, I flashed the MK3 updated sprint firmware via CWM from 4.2 Rom (cannot remember which one at the moment) and the battery was dying, I plugged in the battery and at the same moment the phone went black. The only indication of life is a red light comes on when I plug the phone in wihtout the battery.... Not a great explanation but it's the best I can do

The device manager does not recognize the Official samsung drivers and I am stuck at that end. However, good news is; when we do fix this, and we will, we might want to copy everything we have done on paper so we get the prize.
