For some reason I can not connect my galaxy s2 to my car radio through the usb. Can someone help me out with this?
What kind of headunit is it? Are you sure it supports it? Most headunits only have ipod support sadly.

You actually got me curious to see if it would work with mine and it did not work with mine either. It says incompatible usb device but it does charge it. I have the Pioneer AVH p4300DVD. Its a shame that everything is geared toward Ipod/Iphone and they leave the real devices hanging out to dry!!
Well the thing is it actually worked once but for some reason it doesn't wanna do connect now. It is a kenwood mp345u deck. Cause I can connect usb drives and everything on it so I dont see why it wouldn't work with my phone.

Have you switched roms or made any modifications to your phone since the time it was working? If so I would look there that may be where the issue is.
I think if you search someone already found out our phone doesn't do audio over USB ....there was another thread with guy asking same thing

My micro USB port on my phone has been slowly getting loose, now when I plug it into my laptop I get "USB device not recognized ". I found a thread on buying another one and replacing it, but the eBay link is dead. My stepdad has an old HTC Droid Incredible. I was wondering if its possible to swap them out or if I would have to get my phone replaced

Does it charge on the wall charger?
If your phone is under warranty get the whole thing replaced. There are a few sites that sell the part if its not anymore. Look for Incredible 2 or S the part is identical. I have replaced mine its not difficult. I found a video on youtube that showed the whole process. BTW the part is like 5-10 and look for a tool kit if you dont have tiny torx drivers.
im not under warrenty i believe. but i'll try to get it replaced.
yeah i can get it to charge, the problem is i JUST rooted/s-Off'ed my phone and now i can't flash a stock rom over to return it to verizon lol. if it gets worse i'll figure something out. i'll start looking for spare parts

lol... are u good with a soldering iron?
i just did one for a Samsung Galaxy (it was the StraightTalk one). I definitely don't recommend something this ridiculously tough... a 7 wire USB plug! Unfortunately, one of the pads came off and it was a loss...
alright, i went up to verizon and they're sending me a new one for free. the thing is i gotta send my old phone back.
i'm rooted with s-off running cm7, should i restore my nandroid back up of sense 2.1/android 2.3.3 then update back to 2.3.4, do you think they'll notice i rooted it?

I couldn't S-On my phone because my port was dead. I took it to Best Buy (where I bought it and pay for Geek Squad BTP); they took it and ordered me a new one which arrived two days later. SO far I haven't heard anything about it. Maybe since the issue was the charging port and not the software itself, they didn't care? IDK...
What a piece of sh1t this phone is. Can HTC even make a phone that lasts more than a year without falling apart? Luckily, I'm getting only my second inc2 on Friday. Can't wait to see what is wrong with this refurb beaut.
Hey guys, so running 4.3 MK3 on the GS3 (OTA) I made an idiotic mistake and ran EZ-Unlock and believe it has corrupted the boot loader. I've poked around for about 3 days and haven't found anything that shows a sign of life for this phone. It does get a Red LED when you pull the battery and plug it in and dissipates after about 30 seconds. Cannot get into Download/Recovery. Odin will not recognize the phone. I would like to avoid a visit to Sprint so thus said.. I reach out to you all for some help. Any ideas? I have yet to go purchase a Class 10 SD Card and try that method.. Do you guys think this would work?

May or may not work, only other option is JTAG service. You may have a repair shop around your area or you can search for JTAG repair on ebay.

I'm going to get the SD card most likely in the morning. I did see a thread of other people successfully recovering from the same thing I did, so I am hoping this will work for me. I can verify a Class 2 won't work, lol. Worst comes to worst I will JTag it. I just don't want to take it to Sprint and have them work me over for it being Rooted and so forth.. If they would even be able to get it to Recovery or Download Siggghhhh

I have successfully unbricked 2 phones with the sd method, but that was before the whole KNOX thing came about. JTAG is your best bet. Do you have any local repair shops around? They may have the capability of doing this, as it requires soldering wires to the motherboard, and reflashing the bootloader.

I am not sure about Repair shops capable of doing such around here.. I'm sure they will want a hefty chunk of change. Yeah, this KNOX junk is really funky. I know I made a boob of a mistake and all, but sheesh. I'm crossing my fingers the SD Method will work. I did find a guy fairly cheap on EBay I sent a message to and he seems confident JTag is the way to go... $28.00 usd. I am so iffy about sending it out to a random third party tho, but I guess at this point what do I have to lose?

I attempted to make a USB Jig, hacked up 2 cords to no avail. Just ordered a Jig off EBay. Should be here by the 4th or before. Still going to try the SD method whenever I drag my dead arse to WallyWorld. It's kind of some nasty weather here in Ohio so I hate to be out on the roads without a life line! lol
Bricked & Frustrated
I have fixed my hard-bricked Sprint SGS3 without J-Tag and I have recently flashed using the same updated file and hard-bricked again! I cannot for the life of me figure out why the drivers are not installing correctly, therefore, ODIN dos not recognize my phone. WHY? Please don't bother replying with J-Tag as my only option. I am using Windows Vista and Windows 8 on another pc....In response, I flashed the MK3 updated sprint firmware via CWM from 4.2 Rom (cannot remember which one at the moment) and the battery was dying, I plugged in the battery and at the same moment the phone went black. The only indication of life is a red light comes on when I plug the phone in wihtout the battery.... Not a great explanation but it's the best I can do

At the moment, I have tried; re-downloading, uninstalling, and re-installing the Samsung Drivers with no avail. The drivers start to download when I plug phone into pc via usb and the message reads, 'please insert disc or cancel to finish driver install'. I have read many posts and have come to my end. I need a brain not a shop to take it to.

Look in your Device Manager and report back what it is recognizing the device as. I have done alotttt of reading myself and am at my wits end. Patience is the key as of now. Grabbed my oar...
The device manager does not recognize the Official samsung drivers and I am stuck at that end. However, good news is; when we do fix this, and we will, we might want to copy everything we have done on paper so we get the prize.

Sudden Death Syndrome and no just have insurance, lol
I know that this is in the wrong area, but I could not find the area for the US Cellular LTE version of the sIII, if a moderator could move it to the appropriate are, that would be much appreciated.
I flashed a version of the MIUI rom that was meant for the GT-I900 version, but from the description it looked like it was for ALL s3's.
After finishing the aroma installer, the phone rebooted, or rather didn't. It powered off but didn't power back on, and I had a charged spare battery that I put in to see if that was the problem, it wasn't. I've done everything I can find documentation on, but to no avail. I've heard of ways that I could use an sd card with an image on it and odin mode that would load a version of download mode on it in a way that I could flash a fresh image, and it has had very positive results, but I haven't been able to find any version of the sd card image that is actually designed for the USC version. i also heard of using a usb jig, but it has had varied results on hard bricked phones and I'd rather not mutilate a charger or cable for a procedure with such varied results. Any help is much appreciated, as this is my only phone aside form my old g1, and it is the phone I use as a phone with google voice, without it I can't do any texts or any phonecalls, it's as dead as it can get right now without being physically broken, no download mode, no nothing. It doesn't do anything except for prompt me to pull my hair out, I'm almost at the point of taking out the mother board, getting a new one, and doing a video of some target practice with the old board. Also, if there is any way to recover the contents of the internal sd, that would be great, as while I made a cwm backup to an external sd, my photos and all of my music are on the internal. Thanks in advance!:fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed:

I'm probably going to need jtag, but I don't want to have to pay $30 for the service, if possible
are there any cheap jtag boxes I could buy? I have this http://www.fonefunshop.co.uk/cable_...y_S3)_JTAG_Jig_(+_1_X_12_Pin_Molex_Port).html in mind as I'm not too hot at soldering (pardon the pun) and don't want to have to borrow one
I've heard people talking about a jtag rig, but the actual specifications or requirements for one such setup seem shrouded in secrecy, it's not like I can find a single one that advertises a price lower than 120
I haven't found them for less than $25
and that's for the service, not the unit
Is riff as good a jtag as they make it sound? I found an adapter that will allow me to plug it in without soldering, but are there any files that I'll need to unbrick it? Also, how much does riff cost from their site?
I sideloaded U5CRH6 some weeks ago. Since then there have been several updates but according to samsung.firmware.science you have to be on S5CRG9 in order to update to S5CRH7, S5CRI4, or U5CRIA. I've tried installing each one but every time it says it is expecting a different version than CRH6..... There is no option to choose CRH6 as the firmware you are already on. It seems like I am stuck in a version that has no upgrade path.... despite there being several newer versions out there...
Checking update history the last entry it shows is U4CRF3 from way back in July. It doesn't recognize that I am on U5CRH6.

So now my problem is my USB port is somehow sketchy and is difficult to get to fast charge and straight up refuses MTP connections. It only charges. Can't transfer data over USB. It's never been wet or not enough to trigger the warning. It's been well taken care of. I don't understand why it's flaking out. I've even cleaned the port carefully with tiny swabs and proper contact/electronic safe cleaner(I have access to these things). Still I can only get charging and it takes many attempts to get a fast charge connection.
If someone made an update.zip package to go from CRH6 to the latest one would that work? Or am I hosed outside of exchanging the device?

If someone made an update package it would work yes but I haven't seen one which is what forced me to downgrade back.. About the USB port I use a magnetic wire so that the magnet stays inside of the USB port so that it doesn't get worn out from constant plugging it in and out.. Open the dialing pad and try to see if *#0808# will work for you so you can see if any of the settings will work. This is what I mean by magnetic charging wire https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B06XKVJVBX/ref=sspa_mw_detail_5?ie=UTF8&psc=1
But don't just buy that one look for the ones that can do fast charging.
I got in there and more aggressively cleaned the USB port out and managed to get it to connect via USB to Odin it. I was super nervous as I have seen it go from fast charging to slow charging without touching it. But in the end I was able to flash CRG9 which then let it OTA to CRI4. Thanks.
