Hi,
I have this following problems I encounter on my SGY.
1. When I try to open PLAY STORE it prompt me to ADD a account but when i press OK there will be no pop-out where i can input my email, same as on using GMAIL.
2. When I try to turn on my wifi my WIFI MAC keeps on changing.
How to fix it>?
mac address never change - they are burnt into the network card - you can virtually change a mac address but its highly unlikely you are doing this without knowing
IP address will change all the time though - every time you connect to your wirless router you will get a new ip address however with dhcp it will always give you the same ip address unless that ip address is not available anymore (eg your lease on that ip has expired and your pc has not reconnected to the network to renew it so it is assigned to a new pc connecting to the network)
anyway with your other problem of not being able to sign into the play store the only thing you can do to fix that is to flash gapps
also please note - as ironic as this sound - in future please post questions in the question and answer section

I take that note, thanks
About the WiFi MAC I reformated my SGY and it is fix now, maybe it's on my kernel Hells Fushion.
Also can I add one more thing, when I hold my lock button there will be a prompt
-Silent
-Flight Mode
-Turn Off
The data network is missing.

data on epm isnt included in most stock rom firmwares - root and deodex the rom and use lidroid toggles in the statusbar to easily turn the data on and off or use a custom rom if you dont want to do things yourself
nothing wrong with using hells fusion kernel - I use it - just flash whites wifi driver to make the wifi work

I have a t-mobile Dash. I'm trying to connect to my home router/AP using WPA2-PSK. I've double-checked my network key and other settings, but I can't seem to get it to connect. Here are my settings:
Network name: GTHOME <- matches my router's broadcast SSID
Network type: Internet
Not a hidden network
Not an ad-hoc connection
Authentication: WPA2-PSK
Data encryption: AES
The key is not automatically provided
Network key: (matches my router's key)
Key index: 1
Does not user IEEE 802.1x network access control. (I've tried it both ways, with PEAP
On trying to connect, my Dash give this message:
"Cannot connect to the network. Check your network and service provider settings and try again."
The AP is a Netgear WPN824 v2 with the latest firmware. Any suggestions?
TIA
Try using a 9 letter word for your key.
I had an 8 letter key before. I tried 9 - no luck. What's magic about 9?

Guy, do you have a Mac Adddress Filter area on your router?Open your router so no key is required to make a connection and after you establish a connection use the WEP or WPA2-PSK key option! Can you find your Mac address and your Phone's Ip address on your router. You can find this info on your phone also in Comm Manager> setting> Wifi> Connection Status area. There is a place on your router to put this info, so that the router will know that its ok to connect to this device with this info, I believe its in the advance area on your router and use the 10 key WEP if possible!
Install NetWorkMagic To You System
Go to http://www.networkmagic.com and install the trail version on your PC. Networkmagic will tell you if your system is setup correctly or if their is some kind of problem. Use the network map, this will give you a good ideal of whats going down on your system......! If you cannot see your phone on the network map, then Houston, we got a problem...........!But we will fix it! Happy Thanksgiving!

Yep 8 is secure enough. try again without any caps or numbers. e.g. give aaaaaaaa a try
And see that error you mention, that looks like the one IE gives. What happens when you press connect in the wifi list?
I found that having any character other than a-z, 0-9 would cause the dash to fail to connect even though pc's and laptops had no problems. My initial key contained a "-" and "$"-- it drove me crazy trying to figure out the problem until I realized only the dash couldn't connect.

Thanks for the suggestions. I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday
I double-checked the MAC address filter - it's turned off.
I was able to connect with Open Authentication and WEP Data encryption, and if I disable security altogether. Neither of these options is satisfactory.
I also tried 'aaaaaaaa' as the key. It doesn't work in either WPA-PSK or WPA2-PSK with TKIP or AES encryption.
The warning I get when I press the connect key in the wi-fi list is -
"Cannot connect to the network. Check your network and service provider settings and try again."
Make sure the Key Index on the phone matches the Key Rotation on the router.

I don't think I'm using Key Rotation. Isn't that just for WEP? And, only if you have a RADIUS server? I just have a simple home network, nothing fancy.
I have a basic USRobotics router and it supports key rotation for WPA2. I had it set to 0 (meaning off), however there was no equivalent setting on my S621. The S621 could only be set at 1,2,3,or 4. When I set both the S621 and the router to the same number (in my case 4) I was able to connect.
My netgear doesn't have a place to set key rotation. I tried each key order (1 - 4) on the phone - no luck.
I even tried installing the evaluation version of CommView for WiFi (http://www.tamos.com/products/commwifi/) so I could see what each device is doing. But, I don't have a compatible adapter.
Your Router's IP Address Is 192.168.1.1 Not 192.168.0.1

For your router with IP address 192.168.1.1 with the WPA encryption, turn on the MAC address Filter and install the phone's MAC address in the router in the appropriate area, save settings (soft reset)! Now your phone will now be able to connect to your network via wifi.........!
Well, it's working now in WPA-PSK(TKIP) mode. Here are the changes I made:
I installed a new battery (my Dash started dying every time I turned on wireless while on the battery).
I removed a network called "Free Public Wireless." The Dash would try to connect to this network when it failed to authenticate on my encrypted network.
I suspect the "Free Public Wireless" network was interfering with the login to my home network. I'm just happy that it's working.
Hi, all,
I have the same problem:-
"Cannot connect tot the network. Check your network and service provider settings and try again."
After some troubleshooting, I found that this problem will go away when I set some IP address in the network adapter.
I have confirmed that my password (network key) is correct and my MAC filter are also correct.
The only changes that I can think of is that I went to US last week and connected using hotels' wireless access. No IP settings were done during the connection.
Please let me know if anyone has any idea on how to solve this problem.
Many thanks in advance.
Joe
Hey everyone,
I just got a brand new HTC Desire yesterday and I can't seem to connect my phone to the internet via WiFi. I don't know why but I entered the right password and everything... Every time it goes 'Obtaining IP address from (router name)', but ends up unsuccessful. I tried forgetting and doing it again but still does not work. Anyone have any ideas? Please let me know what information I should post to solve this matter quicker. I'm running on 2.1 update1
[SOLVED]
It seems that most HTC Android phones are very fussy about the routers they will reliably connect to. Whether it's a really a phone problem, or the router that is at fault isn't really known.
Try changing the channel and/or encryption method on your router, as this may help.
Regards,
Dave
Solution
I found my way around solving this issue. Here's how I solved my problem:
Problem: Unable to connect to WiFi. Able to scan network but 'Unsuccessful' everytime WiFi attempts to 'Obtain IP Address from (network name)'.
Solution:
1) Press Menu key under WiFi window on HTC Desire
2) Choose Advanced Settings
3) Under IP Settings, Check 'Use Static IP'
4) Insert all the information below that: IP address, Gateway, Netmask, DNS1, DNS2 (it should all be in numbers)(I only had one DNS1, so I typed the same numbers in DNS2)
You can get the information via Laptop:
Right Click on your network>select 'Status'>select 'Details' under signal quality>All the information you need
5) Once all information is filled in, press 'Return' key and it SHOULD connect successfully.
Additional Notes: I selected the WiFi network and entered the passkey before I did all the steps above.
Hopefully this helps those who had the same problem I did!
Haven't you just given your Desire the same IP address as your laptop??
If your wireless network is set up to use DHCP, you shouldn't need to do any of this.
Regards,
Dave
I dont understand why also but IT WORKS! Rightfully, mine is running on dynamic IP. Will it have any problem connecting again once IP address is refreshed?

A BIG THANK YOU..have been trying to connect with all possibilities minus setting up the static as Im using dynamic which doesnt make sense.
Keep in mind that you have to give all your devices on that network then a static ip-adres, because otherwise you run the risk of another device already having the ip you assigned to your phone.
So is there a valid (non-static IP) solution????
I just got this problem both at home and at other places as well.
I can't find any errors in Android, and wifi scans as it should, it connects but as the topic starter stats, it can't assign an IP-adress!
Static IP is not a solution for me, nor should be for anyone, this is basic function that should work with out issues.
Please advise if there is any, thanks in advance!

I was able to connect but noted that my phone wouldn't even completely charge, got hot and emptied in about an hour, so I installed "Startup Auditor" and" JuiceDefender" but somehow these seem to have broken the Wifi. I uninstalled JuiceDefender and there's nothing disabled in Startup Auditor that could explain it. But the phone can see Wifi points, but can't connect.
Wassup?
Of course it's possible that as the phone is rooted, juicedefencer changed something as root and I have no idea how to change it back.
glad u got it fixed!
been having trouble with wifi connecting. It was working fine... i decided to give a different rom a try (express 3.61 landscape). i couldnt get wifi to work and there were a couple things i didnt really care for, so i switched back to my energy 2/6/12 with anthrax kernel and still not connecting to wifi... well thats only partially true. I have a linksys WRT54GS2 router and i use CISCO NETWORK MAGIC to manage/monitor my network. When i try to disable the network lock to add my phone back in it just keeps searching and never finds it, but my phone will be connected to my network. As soon as I cancel the scan it drops the wifi connection. I even tried using WPS with no luck. Do you think it has something to do with updating my PRL and profile while on the Express rom? this is really annoying me.
UPDATE: I've been playing around in my routers configuration utility and i got this figured out. I jsut couldnt do it with in Network Magic. Ill post my steps incase anyone had this same issue:
1. open web browser on pc enter you address to get into your router(this is usually 192.168.1.1 on linksys routers)
2. leave the user name blank and type admin in the PW section(unless you changed it when you did setup)
3. Go to the "wireless" tab
4. Then goto "wireless MAC filter" subtab
5. click edit mac filter list button
6. get your phones mac address( menu\settings\about phone\hardware information
7. enter phones mac address into an open slot then click save settings at the bottom of the page. then save the changes in the router setup.
It may vary some for different routers but this worked for me... WHAT A PITA!
Hi,
I swear I did a search but Wifi seems a big issue with the Arc and I couldn't pinpoint my exact problem:
Everytime I reboot my router, the Arc loses its previous working wifi connection. The wifi networklist will state that the "network is not in range" (while I am basically sitting on top of my router), also forgetting the network and setting it up manually does not solve the problem. The only way I have found to address this is to change the Wifi SSID in the router - which is not a long term option.
Unfortunately I cannot give you details on the ROM (its my wife's phone and she is threatening me remotely if I cannot fix this. Like NOW) - but I know that I rooted it and put a UK stock ROM (instead of the Singaporean) about 5 months ago.
Please help, anybody - and again, I apologise if that has been addresse, I could not find the appropriate threads.
cheers
Why do you restart your router?
(i do rarely, only if the dsl/internet is gone)
Try to change ssid and sec.key of your router.
What kind of sec.key type do you use. Fexampe i use WPA-(PSK)

My internet is usually ok but I also use IPTV which sometimes (= every other day) hangs and takes the router (Asus RT-N13U) along.

I changed the SSID several times already because it is the only way to make the Arc find my network again. Security is WPA-PSK, I also tried WPA2-PSK, which made no difference.
I do acknowledge that the problem may be the router BUT every other device in my house (which includes several laptops, a Galaxy S2 and a Asus TF101) connects flawlessly to Wifi even after several router reboots. Just the arc throws the towel every single time.
Thats really wierd. These problems are very hard to help remotely, in my option
Try changing mac adress, and if you can log into you router and check device (arc) permissions
Also look at your routers radio type (-a, -b, -g, -n or something)
At least try a frimware upgrade/reinstall.
Thats what i got for now
From my sexy LT15i
First of all thank you for the time and answer.
I think from router side I'm ok, firmware is up to date, band is 20MHz, mode is b/g/n auto and no fancy settings.
The problem seems to be: as long there is a valid DHCP lease for the Sony after the router reboot, it will refuse to connect. Only after I get the lease for teh Sony out of the router (which requires a lot of fiddling) can the phone connect again.
So, to expand the question: Is there an android tool that can do some advanced networking stuff (for example something like the "ipconfig /release" command in Win?
If all else fails, I'll just buy her an iPhone
Tried to set up a static ip on you arc?
Settings > wireless and network > wireless settings > push menu button ang press advanced > check the static ip option and configure it
Try a app to connect like wifi manager and wifi connect etc.
Are the phone using the latest frimware?

Hello,
I got myself an Xperia S LT26i running ICS Build number : 6.1.A.2.45 .
It connects to some Wifi networks but not the Wifi network of the Belkin basic n150 router I have at home. :crying:
. My phone displays the network after scanning and asks for the password too. But on entering the password the Wifi network status changes to "Saved, Secured with WPA/WPA2" without actually connecting to it. On tapping the network again, three options pop up : Cancel, Forget and Connect.
Tried resetting, restarting and reconfiguring the router and phone several times but in vain.
I have the latest updated firmware on my router and the latest firmware on my phone too.
My iPAD, Lumia and other devices connect to the network with no problem at all.
Sony Support could not provide me with a solution. Not even my ISP.
Please HELP :crying::crying:
P.S : Excuse me for the bad english.

I have the exact same phone and i had the exact same problem! It turns out, my router did not have enough i.p addresses to allow the phone to connect; so the solution is easy, look in your settings for lan IP, then make the number at the end bigger.
For example mine was starting ip 192.168.0.2 and the end was 192.168.0.4 but i had my playstation & old phone using 2 ip's so my xperia could not be allocated one - all i had to do was change the ending ip address to a larger range like 192.168.0.10 and voila!
hope this solves your problem ..while your at it add your xperia MAC address to your router too
By adding the MAC address do you imply the MAC address filtering list ??

yes i believe that is how it is usually described in most routers' panels, i dont believe its strictly necessary to actually get your xperia to connect, but its a bit of added security for your network and will only take 10 seconds to do so /shrug.
you can find your phones MAC address in 'about phone'

Try changing the channel your WiFi router is broadcasting on.
My Xperia S didn't like Channel 13. Changed it to Channel 1, it worked first time.
