I think testpoint unlock will work

According to
http://androidflip.com/unlock-xperia-phones-bootloader-without-losing-drm-data-track-id-working/
If it says the Bootloader unlock allowed is NO the bootloader is already unlocked is that right ?
That can't be right because mine is looked to orange and also says 'no' for boot loader unlocking and i have installed a bug fix update OTA and 2.3.4 via pc companion which would both brick a phone with an unlocked boot loader and mine downloaded fine.
Mine said no to unlock bootloader and was locked on o2 but I paid to have the sim unlocked and the bootloader for a small price of a web site, its a 100% safe and also you can still do OTA updates with out a brick.

Use jinx13 on this website, he unlocked my play, he will provide you with all the software you need, he does the unlock remotely using teamviewer, all you need is a paperclip.

No not at all, you don't need to sim unlock your device before you unlock the bootloader. Infact one of the features you get with the paid unlock method is, it will sim unlock your device too. So paying for a sim unlock first is a waste of money.
Sent from my R800i using Tapatalk
I looked every were and im sure every unlocking bootloader method was you had to have your sim unlocked first. If I new that I wouldnt of payed and I would of done it my self.

I'm serious, i know there is alot of conflicting information right? But the deal is, factory unlocked phones can use the official bootloader unlock method. Sim locked phones, even if you get the sim unlocked, it does not unlock fastboot, thats why you need the testpoint method, and a sim unlocked device defo isnt required for that, because my device was still locked to o2 when i got my bootloader unlocked.
Sent from my R800i using Tapatalk
Ok lol I looked at to much conflicting info then. I knew I should of just tried it. Do you still get OTA updates with out bricking?

He unlocked my bootloader and sim within 15 minutes. I don't think you need to unlock the sim first because mine was a r800at and everything was locked to begin with.

If you think you can unlock your bootloader using the unlock method your self then do so but you wont be able to do OTA updates but if you pay you will be able to do OTW updates.

Any dev out there: Can you tell me exactly why it is so difficult to root the Ion and why all other methods do not work? When I first started the Android "hacking" I did it all through ADB, command prompt, and what not. What is so different about the Ion for that to not work? I'm just curious.
Sony has fixed the exploits/methods that allowed root using apostle such as superoneclick and other one click root methods. Since they did that the only way to root is to flash a pre-rooted system image via fastboot but to be able to do that you need an unlocked bootloader which isn't possible yet on the ion.
The pre-rooted system image is what I have used to root my Xperia S which was an unbranded phone so I could unlock the bootloader using Sony's official method.

My Ion is unlockable so what is "Official" method to unlock the bootloader. Is it available for the Ion yet?
How do you find out of your ion has an unlockable boot loader?
Sent from my LT28at using xda app-developers app
Go to the dialer and dial *#*#7378423#*#* then go yo service info then configuration. Under Booting status it will either say boitliader unlock allowed no or yes. If no it means its locked and you can't unlock it using the official Sony method.
If it says yes you can use http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/

All the AT&T branded ions are not unlockable. And they don't sell the phones unbranded in the US so we have to wait till a developer finds a way to unlock it.
Sent from my LT26i using Tapatalk 2
root ?
................
Unlockable yes, unlocked? not unless you have unlocked it through Sony's official website or another way we don't know about. Now let's say you did unlock it via the official website, then you would need to make a prerooted system.img for your rom version file and flash that via fastboot to get root.
You have to make that prerooted system.img or have someone else make it. This is the process that I've used on my Xperia S to root it. Currently none of the one click methods will work.
I was reading on the Sony unlocking site that is not possible to unlock CDMA phones. Would this phone be CDMA?
I would say its GSM. But I don't know much

If it is the at&t model there is no way to use it on another network as of yet. You can try arguing with at&t but i dont think it will get you anywhere. Are you still in the return window? If so return it and get the international version.

By "unlocked", what does it mean to you.
For me, a rooted android with S- off is also unlocked. Meaning that you can flash a different Operating System (ROM) that is custom made. It is void of "bloatware" that each carrier installs with their ROM. Here is the wikipedia definition ; http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rooting_(Android_OS)
Is this what you are thinking?

Rooted doesn't mean sim unlocked though

like if I was to pop in an AT&T sim card in it.

ask TMobile for the code to unlock your phone. Rooting is something different....
Hey guys, I need some help. How can I unlock the bootloader on the N3 and root it? This is my first time to have a locked phone. Altough it supports different SIM cards, the bootloader is locked. And yeah - should I wait until KitKat update comes out or should I root it now? Thanks in advance!
Sent from my SM-N9005 using Tapatalk
Great thing about T-Mobile is bootloaders are not locked. Just root first from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2466423 and install your custom recovery afterwards.
Sent from my SM-N900T using Tapatalk
The T-Mobile Note 3 does not have a locked bootloader, simply use Odin to flash a custom recovery and/or root the stock OS. It is carrier locked but not bootloader locked. Only the AT&T and Verizon variants are locked (and I think Verizon has a "developer" unlocked variant).

Thanks for that, but when I search for ROMs should I download roms for the international version of Note3 or Tmobile? Or is there any difference since bootloader is unlocked? And how can I root without tripping KNOX?

This was answered in your other post. You gonna need to read and research. Knowledge is your friend. The devs here put in the first line what phones the rom will work for. If it a T-Mobile phone then you in right area.

As XDA is not a support site, and all users should read before posting (duplicate) threads...this one thread is closed.
For anyone who has tried it, can the AT&T M8 bootloader be unlocked by HTCdev or is it blocked by the carrier?
