There is. But connection to a charger is required. Try NoMoarPowah! app. You can set a custom time to boot your phone. Like 5 mins before your alarm starts.

Just charge your phone before sleep , and after it got 80-100% remove the charger , put your phone next to you , airplane mode on , the battery will last longer and the alarm will ring , and the battery is safe , you can try kilavuzcu method too if you want

Thank for your answer, but still it need a charger to do that. But i want it to work like the old phone alarm. Maybe i can wait for the developer to make it happen.

I don't think there will ever be a solution which doesn't need charger. When an android phone is off, it's really off. You can't run any software if device is completely off.
But why you want to turn your phone off? You can still use an app like "Deep Sleep Battery Saver". When screen off, it turn off wifi, mobile network, other apps etc and you don't need to turn off your phone, your alarm is going to work fine and when you wake up your battery will stay at %98-96.

Desire and Alarms when off....

All the phones I've ever had until now have had the ability to set an alarm that will still go off if set, even if the phone is turned off. Is there a way to do it on the Desire?
Really want to be able to turn the phone off at night but have the alarm go off still.....
any thoughts please?
That's simply impossible with an Android device.
It's true, it's impossible.
If you want you could just Power Control widget to turn everything off, and flight mode on, and brightness down, to use minimum power. It uses a couple of percent overnight.
I'll give that a try then. Pity that this is my first phone not to do it

Only dumb "feature" phones can do it. I don't know of any smartphone that can do that; they work totally differently. They're essentially computers, you know.
Just put it in normal standby, and stop refreshing Facebook etc every 5 minutes.

my battery drains a good 15% in a night on standby usually..... I have my refreshing set on manual and data off until I do check... typically once every few hours. Battery life doesn't last me a day.

Turning off and on should we ?

I know it sounds silly, But are we supposed to turn androide phones off?
The reason i ask this is becuase 1# the alarm wont go off if you turn phone off so you need to enable flight mode.
And 2nd# when i turn off the phone and turn it back on it will default back to normal theme.
so just wondering really if i am right or wrong?
Turning it on and off frequently is not a good thing to do (battery will be seriously affected)....so it's best to leave it in stand-by (screen off). As for alarm clocks, you can always disable them in the clock....I'm not sure what you are trying to say about the flight mode....that's generally used to disable wireless communications and I am unaware of its effects on the alarm clock.
The phone should be able to return to your custom theme after you turn it back on....I wonder why yours does that...
As an aside, I don't think turning the phone on and off reboots everything!
I had a situation where on startup the phone was really slow and unresponsive, like something was using lots of CPU cycles. Eventually after a few minutes the phone just rebooted.
Turning it off and on did not fix this, however pulling the battery out DID fix it. So pulling the battery must reset something that a simple switch off/on doesn't.
I only turn mine off if flashing a new ROM, wanting to remove the SD card. Otherwise it's on 24/7
I know if you have a live wallpaper installed to SD that it will return to a normal default wallpaper.
Could that be the reason your theme is changing?

The battery won't be 'seriously affected', what does that even mean? At worst it uses 1-2% battery to reboot.
I never turn my phone off, I put it in flightmode if I know I won't have signal for any length of time, and when flashing ROMs I just mount the external storage and drag and drop to the SD. It won't do the phone any harm to turn it on and off.

Agreed.
I keep mine on 24/7 though. Only time it is off, is when a new ROM is being flashed or I remove the SD card - so, hardly ever.
I'm sure I turned my phone off once (or maybe it was my old phone) and the alarm went off still... was on an aeroplane too so I secretly tried to shush it up!
I turn it off every night...have done to all my phones... cant see anything wrong in this. The phone works fine, it's off for about 7 hrs, yes I have to reset a few things here and there ... but It's fine.. sync all my google stuff in the morning .. fab .
It's always charged at work in the day , so may be the battery is running low, but as I plug it in every day .. I dont see it ...
The wifi is also on at work .

possible. My phone does the same, when I turn it off it returns to the normal livewallpaper instead of my selected one.
My phone is also on 24/7, got no reason to turn it off. If i dont want people to call me: just turn off the sound

Tasker - Profiles

Hey everyone
Does anyone here use tasker or have any recommended profiles to help save battery life?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA Premium App
Try Juice Defender with 3g control enabled.
I have mine set to enable every 30mins with good results..
With LOTS of syncing enabled, i get roughly 1% an hour decrease whilst on standby!! Unplugged at 1am on 89% when i went to bed, at 9am when i got up it was at 81%...
Hope this helps!
Dickie
Check WIKI on Tasker site, data profiles created by "brandall" from XDA
Tasker data profiles are better than Juice Defender
JuiceDefender has some annoying bugs in it at the moment (some like issues it has with lockscreen/display timeout) have been around for 4months+ and they still haven't sorted them out) so I've switched to Green Power which seems to do the job very well. Simple and no fuss.
Hi. Anyone here good at creating profiles?
I would like some help. If i want a profile that:
IF screen has been locked for 1 minute, i want WiFi to shut down.
And when i unlock the phone again, i want it to turn on.
But - i don't just want a "toggle wifi by hitting powerbutton"-function,
I only want this to apply if i had wifi on in the first place.
The reason i want this profile is:
If i forget to charge the phone at night, and have wifi going, i have 20% less battery when i wake up. Or if im at a friends house, connected to a wifi... well, same here. If it just lays in my pocket connected to X, i want it to shut down when screen is off. Saves alot of juice.

why dont you use tasker for that,
you can do almost anything with that app.
Creating profiles in tasker isn't a huge difficult task, its easy, Just use trial n error to see if it works.

Why don't just use the stock android checkbox in settings that's there for that? o_ô
Go to settings/network and wifi/wifi settings/hit the menu button and tap advanced parameters/wifi sleep politic/check "when screen goes off".
It does exactly what you described...

Well mine is working fine, no draining at all (wifi on 24h24 with this option checked and my phone drain only 1% every 5 or 6h if the screen is off). The thing is that it shut off the wifi only if no app needs it, so my bet is that those who have a battery drain just have some apps that don't let the phone going in deep sleep.

Hi, if you try LLAMA app instead I could talk you through it (as your not getting an answer you want).
As far as I can tell, LLAMA can do everything that tasker and locale can do but its free. It's also very good on your battery and can use cell towers instead of gps for location.

Not sure if I'm in the right place, new to smartphones. Got myself a Galaxy S2 and rooted it. Main point,
I'm using Tasker and I'm trying to have it set so that it's in Airplane Mode when I have an Alarm set so I get no calls/texts during my slumber.
So far, best thing I've done is the phone goes to Airplane Mode between 00:00 and 0600 everyday as well as when light levels are between 0 and 28 - not sure if the light levels are like, set too low.
So far I love Tasker but very little support online and Tasker Wiki doesn't really help. Trying my best with the trial and error method.
Thanks

[Q] Automatic wake up when connecting power or USB

I'm running Nova and CWM9 and whenever I connect the phone to USB or a charger the phone wakes up automatically forcing me to push the power button evey time I connect it to turn off the screen.
Anyone know if it's possible to disable this "feature"?
Thanks!
I believe stock does that too. That would be an interesting tweak if it's not already around! In terms of disabling, I'm not sure there is an option to do so.
Sent from my GNex running gummy v0.7.0
Confirm stock does it as does Apex; presumably it's set somewhere basic in ICS
Its in developer options. Untick 'stay awake' (if I understand the question!)
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA App
And this is a problem why? Its just indicating to you that its plugged in properly and charging... the screen will time out and turn off a few seconds later.
Thanks for checking!
It is interesting that Google would assume everytime you plug the phone in (and unplug the phone) you would want it to wake up. Considering the short battery life these phones have, lots of charging would be commonplace and therefore lots of connecting/disconnecting without the intent to actually use the phone.
I could see giving people the option to have the phone do that - but for me the unplug wakeup is especially annoying because I have to turn it off everytime I go to put it in my pocket.

Well considering by stock there's no charging LED indicator, turning the screen on momentarily to indicate a charging state is a smart idea.
Also, if you're plugging it in, why are you worried about the battery drained by keeping the screen on for 10 seconds? 10 seconds.

Well that's that I thought too, but sometimes it doesn't go back to sleep like it should and I'll notice my pocket getting quite warm pull it out and it's still on.
It could be a bug in the ROM I'm running (not going to sleep correctly all the time) but I don't remember my DINC doing that so I figured it was something that just needed to be disabled.

Hmm, I did have this option enabled - mainly because when I connect it to the charger I do like it to stay on -prime example using Slacker Radio in my car when plugged into the dock.
Maybe I'll try a different ROM since it seems the problem isn't so much that I need to disable to wakeup on connect/disconnect but instead I need the sleep function to be more reliable so I don't have a mini oven on my pocket.
Thanks!
A great option for your car dock needs would be to introduce something like the app Tasker. Then you could leave the screen off but have tasker set it to constant on and load slacker when the Bluetooth connection to your car happens.

I've had previously two phones, one with a schdules downtime and uptime so that was not an issue and another (Xiaomi Redmi note) which the alarm clock was ringing when the phone was off.
So, i am getting a bit lost since i don't have see any scheduled downtime and uptime as told, the alarm clock doesn't ring when the phone is off.

I'm curious. How does it work? The phone is completely powered down and the alarm can turn the phone on (with all the start up logo and whatnots)? sorry but I don't have the OPO and still waiting for Zf2.
I don't but it did turn itself on and then off when I stopped the alarm.

No it was turned off as I had battery issues.
Ok..I learnt something here. Apparently the OPO does have this feature. Unfortunately I am not using one so was pretty curious about this feature.

I don't think the Zenfone 2 has this feature..
My previous phone is OPP* Find 5 Mini, when the phone is completely off because battery is drained in the night, i plug the power and go to sleep, in the morning which i set the specific time for alarm, the phone will "boot up" and rings.
