Resizing EXT partition..

I have a 500mb EXT partition, but have installed a Sense HD rom which has almost filled it, therefore i either want to expand it to 1gb or remove it entirely format it back to fat32 and then install a new 1gb partition...
Is one easier than the other?
I can only see the 500mb option in Rom Manager?? And when i mount the sd on my pc the EXT partition doesnt even show?

[Q] Partition SD

Hi guys
I have root my phone and install
clockwork mode recovery 2.5.1.8
&
LeeDroid ROM file named "LeeDrOiD_V2.5.0_A2SD_FINAL.zip"
and all of this work perfect .
then i open rom manger because i want to partition my 8GB sd
after i flash my recovery i select
partition SD (Ext size 512M) & (Swap size 32M) then it go to recovery
and i have this error "please open rom manager to report the issue"
and i re partition sd by rom manger and i have seam error
after this i let Rom Manger behind me and i go to recovery
Advance>partition SD card>2028M>32M .. .. ..
after done i open the system>Sitting>SD&phone storge
SD total space is 6GB 8-2 for partition=6
Total internal phone storage is 186M in "Disk Usage"App
but i but 2GB partition !!!
i but 4GB partition to check ... same proplime 186M
i hear some people seas install "Data2SDInstallerX1" i try it but after i install it
when i turn my phone on its hold in htc logo
now i re install Lee Droid rom and the rom is work, but partition proplime steel here

Hi did you try redo it with gparted? or flash better recovery to setup partitions on your sd card... some rom are not showing all space from ext partition... BTW why you have swap? instruction saying 0 MB for swap

Its working correctly, the 183Mb free space will decrease slowly but it is using the 2Gb ext partition for app storage. Also, you don't need a swap partition. My advice is to start again, either do a backup, repartition your SD card with 1Gb ext and 0 swap and then restore or just do the partitioning and flash the ROM from scratch.

You'd have to have a [custom] hboot that had partition info set up like you wanted [to change system partition information]. Not an easy task. Doubtful it would ever come to fruition. Besides our devices have 512 MB ROM, 512 MB RAM (418 MB user-available). So allocating that all to system would be unwise. Now SD card partitioning... our device supports up to 32 gigs Those two you mentioned or Darktremor's Apps2sd are great tools for moving your apps or even dalvic vm to your sd card. You can partition your sd as you wish with the unofficial cwm recovery (under advanced options). I will try to port another recovery [4ext] in the future which is great for sd partitioning (data aligns everything; supports ext4). CWM is not too shabby though; give it a whirl. Hope that helps.

I've tried to make sd-ext with Rom Manager -> Make partitions on SD. I've shoose 512Mb (of 16Gb miscroSD) and 32Mb swap file. But still have 178Mb internal memmory.
What is wrong?

I used Minitool Partition Wizard (free) to split my SD 16Gb on Fat32 & ext4 512Mb. Works Fine! Link2SD identify external partirion.

data2sd not installing for me after i install i get a boot loop..

you need Apps2sd or Data2sd not both
The rom has Apps2sd... You want Data2sd. You will have to remove apps2sd support, then add data2sd support. Can't have both.

i just need to know Why .. A2SD is preferred over DAta2ext or even D2sd..
i feel that internal memory is always more in D2EXT..
what kind of partition is needed for A2SD?

First of all the basics:
With A2SD only apps and dalvik-cache will be automatically moved to EXT-partition of SD card. Some data still remains on the internal memory (/data-partition).
With DATA2SD / DATA2EXT / DATA2WHATEVER (below just called D2SD) really every data on in the internal memory will be moved to EXT-partition. This EXT-partition is your new internal memory. This means, you get nearly unlimited internal memory for your Desire.
A2SD is not generally preferable over D2SD. I recommend to make it dependent on which SD card one is using. A2SD will work with nearly every SD card, whereas with D2SD you need an SD card which has at least Class 6 because of the big data which has to be accessed.
So the reason why A2SD is preferred over D2SD might be that it works for nearly every SD card and also gives very much internal memory.
But IMHO if one has a SD card with at least Class 6, I would always use D2SD.
The partition layout for A2SD will be given in the thread for the ROM, but overall it should work with this layout:
1.) FAT32-partition (remaining space)
2.) EXT4-partition with 512 MB - 1,5 GB.

Does it have to be ext-4? I have inadvertantly installed data2sd when i thought it was apps to sd on MildWild 2.9.5. It seems to work but I'm concerned as I only used ext3?

The big difference between EXT3 and EXT4 is the speed (EXT4). It shoud work with EXT3 though, but I recommend to convert your EXT3-partition into an EXT4-one.

I use the PA 6.0 rom.And it only has less than 100mb internal.I study the thread of int2ext.It said that 100mb internal is needed for every 500mb sd-ext.Does it mean i can only use less than 500mb ext until my internal memory is full? So why? Is it because the script only mount some data to ext? I would like to have lots of apps.I have 1.5G ext and my tf is class 6.So which scipt should i use?

"100MB is needed for every 500MB sd-ext" is just a rough ratio to give you an estimate of how big to make your sd-ext. How everything fills up is all dependent on how many apps you install.
1.5GB sd-ext should be plenty. As long as it is created properly in gparted or 4EXT recovery will work fine, keep it.
Search the rom thread to see other users' experience of int2ext, should work. You should start fresh to get best results.
- titanium backup user apps and nandroid backup
- full wipe
- reflash rom, reboot
- reboot to recovery, flash int2ext script
- reboot and restore apps again
- use an app like 'diskusage' to browse all your partitions, see how they're filling up.
