Hi did you try redo it with gparted? or flash better recovery to setup partitions on your sd card... some rom are not showing all space from ext partition... BTW why you have swap? instruction saying 0 MB for swap

Its working correctly, the 183Mb free space will decrease slowly but it is using the 2Gb ext partition for app storage. Also, you don't need a swap partition. My advice is to start again, either do a backup, repartition your SD card with 1Gb ext and 0 swap and then restore or just do the partitioning and flash the ROM from scratch.

I think he meant : Can it be 2 GB for sd-ext partition and rest from 1st post... no clue what he is about

i have another Q
does i need to install data2ext or a2sd rom ????

First answer my question, then I answer your question.

some one tell me to partition sd card 1GB and swap 0M and i ask him can i use 2 GB or i can only but 1GB

does i need to install data2ext or a2sd rom ????

If you constantly ignore what we are telling, you won't get any answer any more.

Apps2sd Card Help

Can any 1 help ive just rooted my phone to use the apps2sd, now when im opening it, it says that my sd card isnt partitioned and to do it now, on the phone, which doesnt work.
What im wanting to know is how to partition the sd card and how does the apps2sd card work?
Try this:
androidandme.com/2009/08/news/how-to-manually-partition-your-sd-card-for-android-apps2sd/
You can partition from recovery. Note you need to back up the sd card as you will lose everything. You have to create 0 swap, 512mb ext 2 and rest fat 32 partition. Then you can upgrade to ext 3 in recovery.
Hi thanks for replys i have used rom manager which worked but what im wanting to know what does the ex2 and ex3 do and mean?
Right now i have partitioned my sd card when i open the apps2sd app up it says my card isnt partitioned correctly any ideas people

[Q] Partition issue, please help!

Hi everyone. I'm a new android user (recently got an HTC Desire) and i have an issue with the partitioning of the sd card.
First of all i apologize if i posted in the wrong section, or if this problem has been already disscused (i didnt really find anything). I am new at this so sorry for the noob question!
I have rooted the device (all the steps from a great guide here at xda) and installed the leedroid rom with app2sd. I tried using the gparted method but i think i missed a step or something cause it didnt work.
So, i tried partitioning with the ROM Manager, choosing 512mb ext partition and 32 mb of swap. After rebooting, in the storage menu it shows only 134MB of available space (63 mb available before using the rom manager).
Why is it only showing 134 mb and not 512 or more ? Did i did something wrong or should i try gparted again ?
You have to partition your sd-card again.
Download GParted here: http://gparted.sourceforge.net/
Start your Computer with it.
Put your sd-card in a card-reader, connect it to your computer and partition your sd-card so:
0 MB for SWAP!!
512 MB - 1.5 GB for ext3
Rest: FAT32
Source: http://leedroid.com/bravo-wiki/partitioning-your-sd-card-ready-for-a2sd
Sorry for the late reply and thanks for helping me. I tried again with GParted creating a 512 mb ext3 and the rest FAT32. I didnt create a swap. When i turned on the phone it said it cannot mount the SD card. I tried wiping the phone and put the ROM on the SD again. In the recovery menu when i choose install zip from SD it says something about the SD not being mounter (dont remember exactly). So i had to reformat the SD again and made the whole card FAT 32, thats the only way it let me install the ROM and mount it.
Any ideas ?

You need to erase partitions and make FAT partition first. Make sure they're both primary, not logical partitions. You can lose the swap partition.

You'd have to have a [custom] hboot that had partition info set up like you wanted [to change system partition information]. Not an easy task. Doubtful it would ever come to fruition. Besides our devices have 512 MB ROM, 512 MB RAM (418 MB user-available). So allocating that all to system would be unwise. Now SD card partitioning... our device supports up to 32 gigs Those two you mentioned or Darktremor's Apps2sd are great tools for moving your apps or even dalvic vm to your sd card. You can partition your sd as you wish with the unofficial cwm recovery (under advanced options). I will try to port another recovery [4ext] in the future which is great for sd partitioning (data aligns everything; supports ext4). CWM is not too shabby though; give it a whirl. Hope that helps.
Rob
I've tried to make sd-ext with Rom Manager -> Make partitions on SD. I've shoose 512Mb (of 16Gb miscroSD) and 32Mb swap file. But still have 178Mb internal memmory.
What is wrong?
I used Minitool Partition Wizard (free) to split my SD 16Gb on Fat32 & ext4 512Mb. Works Fine! Link2SD identify external partirion.
cool
congrats. Just a suggestion... change your OP from [Q] to [Answered] even though you answered your own question. May help someone else.
Rob
data2sd not installing for me after i install i get a boot loop..
you need Apps2sd or Data2sd not both
The rom has Apps2sd... You want Data2sd. You will have to remove apps2sd support, then add data2sd support. Can't have both.

[Q]4extrecovery too little space on the device?

I'm new in this so maybe this is a stupid question.
I need now to make a partition in 4extrecovery but when I go to Partition SD Card and then no- save my FAT32 partiton, then 1024 (1st sd-ext), then 0 (2nd sd-ext), then 512 (swap), then I got a error it says: There is too little space on the device to create this partiton layout.
I have a 8GB sd card and free is more then 4GB.
8gb and 4gb free? If u partition ur sdcard ul lose ur data. Do a backup first.
What rom r u using?
Sent from my HTC Desire
Currently I have the original sense ui, but I want to boot the MIUI Desire 2.4.13.
My mobile phone is rooted, now I need to boot the rom.

I have a backup.
Someone please help?
If ur changing roms you will have to just backup your apps without the data, put the backup on your computer, then in recovery partition your sdcard to what the rom dev recommends then install the rom then put the backup back on your sdcard and install them all again.

I've experienced this. Backup your entire sd card to your computer. There is no other way to do it. Partition your card without saving the FAT32. Set the size of the EXT partition you want, swap 0. That should do it.
Lets say you set 512MB as your SD EXT partition, and the rest is FAT32, the next time you try and repartition your SD EXT saving your FAT32, you can only partition it to less than the existing SD EXT partition. On my example that would be 512MB.
The reason you are getting that error when you do it right now is because you basically do not have an ext partition. So no exisiting ext partition=not enough space to work with.

Your phone isn't ment to see the ext4 partition as the internal storage unless you reverse mount it.
Install a bunch of apps if internal doesn't go down significantly then its using the ext4 partition

What did you use to partition your sd-card?
You won't see the actual partition size added to the phone's internal memory. Use a storage info app, like "Freespace", or Titanium Backup, to actually see your partition.

not. just skip it, u dont need it like posted above.
Mmmm tahts good so i will make 1 GB or 512MB partition with no SWAP ... Thats good idea i think becoz i made reamining unpartitioned sapce is used by apps rather than that 2Gb partitioned ....and i also notice that my apps are not listed on SD Crd so so my partion is alo working what this its consuming both partitioned and unpartitioned sapce of SDCard...
