I flashed icelite for a while but found it to be not as fast as the miui rom I had been using
It now seems everyone is one ics and i just wanted to see if i could get some feedback on the roms before i pick to flash
So i just wondered if people if they wouldnt mind start giving me a little insight into the ics rom's and how they are performing ?
icelite is just ok,same as other ics for arc, just the problem is ics itself, maybe not as stable as gb,i think maybe because it cannot control multitasking as good as gb,when you close an app and starting new app,the recently closed app will just running,so it might cause lag,it is not killed or freeze, just my opinion, correct me if im wrong
from the ARC
There are a few scripts/tweaks to be found in the android threads that vastly improve ALL roms. I'd recommend supercharger by zep, amongst 2 or 3...

Flashed jj rom but in comparison it is slow compared to miui
How is ics better at the moment I don't get it ?

Agree with you there, it's not a vast difference like 1.6 to 2.1 was. Probably the only reason I'm staying on ics is for chrome browser, tbh.

All ics roms for vivow have some issues. The question is do you want sense or aosp?
UKB is probably the best sense rom out right now. Sense 4, android 4.0.3. Smooth, fast, excellent battery. Camera fcs a lot for some.
For aosp, you have Kangdemnation or an older version of PA. PA is moving on to JB, but I think version 1.9.5 is ics.
Most of the problems are camera related, but many have been fixed. BT is another area of concern/ongoing development. Sound issues, too.
Search through the threads for these issues before you ask a question. Most of these threads are quite large.

If you don't feel the need for Ice Cream Sandwich, I use Cyanogenmod 7.2 stable for my "old reliable" It's much faster than stock, better battery life, and everything works 100% for me. Just my 2 cents.
I'm pretty much a rookie myself, and wanted the most stable ics rom I could get. The UKB looked great, but I decided to try tazz's ic rom first. It sounds like it should be stable too. I just flashed it earlier today, so haven't had much time with it yet, but so far it looks great. It sucks as much as everyone in that thread promised.
In my experience, Tazz's ROM is probably the number one out there right now. Granted, you're stuck with Sense but there are some devs out there stripping Sense away from this ROM and another one. Everything works out of the box (including camera which is huge for me), but like I mentioned, you're stuck with Sense and I've personally moved to Paranoid Android 1.5a which has CM9 as a base. Works pretty great, although my ffc pictures often show up corrupt/glitchy/garbled. Now to make more posts so I can have the privilege of commenting about this bug...

If u r on cdma then use UKB X, if on gsm use IC Tazz. Both the roms are very gud. I faced bootloop in gsm with UKB X and V.
otherwise ukb is better.
So I guess this shows my noobness, I'm wanting to root my wife's incredible 2 and not sure if she has cdma or gsm. How do I know/find out?

LOL yeah, that was an entertaining and informative thread!
I just stuck to the Aeroevan's CM9 07/12 build with v12 kernel (pretty outdated, but I don't use the phone anymore) and gave it to my mother. So far, she's loving it to the point where she's completely oblivious to the world when she's using an app.
I woild definitely recommend Aero's CM9 build if you want a speedy rom with mostly everything working (720p recording doesn't work sadly)
But if you want an extremely stable ROM, then go for Tazz/Mac's IC Tazz ROM and have fun with the suckiness of the ROM. XD
I woukd also recommend Nit's UKB just because it's a treat and its packed with lots of Sense 4.0 goodies.

So my dad has been using his One V for almost a year now. Was stock and unrooted. Slowly it has got slower and slower. Its reached the point where I have to factory reset anyway.
Is there a custom ROM that is more stable and smooth than Stock 4.0.4 and yet gives good battery life? Features irrelevant.
Thanks.

I'm starting to agree with you know, I've been using Evervolv since about yesterday, and it's been a bit buggy for me now. I'm just hoping it gets more stable.
If you want a stable easy to use rom for your dad, I'd recommend CM9 as recommended by other users.
1ceb0x great work on Evervolv had made it stable now. Try it again with the new kernel.
Since CM10 is abonded I'd say the newest version of Evervolv is really, really great. Android 4.2.2, aosp. everything you want.
Just one "downside. default camera isnt working. Im using camera zoom fx for this and its a great application.

With the unlocked bootloader and rom development I figured this would be a good time for people to post their own experiences and preferences thus far with what they have tried. Be as detailed or as vague as you want and maybe we can help some folks make up their own minds.
For me, I have tried 2 somewhat extensively. CM 10.1 and AOKP.
- CM 10.1 - For me, it was exactly what people have been saying. It's basically stock 4.2.2. I didn't give it enough time to experience it's battery life. It seemed stable, but for all of the "trouble" I went to (I'm not very technology savvy), I felt like I wanted to get a little more out of a custom rom.
- AOKP - After short tests of Carbon and PAC, I hopped over to AOKP. Super customizable. I love to nitpick over settings on my phone anyway, so this played right into my preferences. It's very quick. Didn't feel any different from CM 10.1 as that was quick too. But both are snappier than stock. Battery life seems either the same or better than stock. I am just really enjoying this rom. Haven't run into any real serious issues. Although I will recommend that you go into developer settings and disable HW overlays. This will assist in better Web scrolling more smoothly for whatever reason. The only other minor issue I've seen relates to when the phone is booting up, for a quick moment you'll see a fuzz screen for maybe a third of a second. Nothing major, but would like to see it hopefully ironed out at some point.
- Carbon & PAC - Will consider giving them some good time in the future if I ever start feeling adventurous.
Overall it's nice being able to really do what I want with my M with root, an unlocked bootloader, and a custom ROM. After all, android is about options, isn't it?

Hi all, first post in xda forum! Just rooted my phone last week and immediately started flashing ROMs. I found that most of the ones I used had issues like camera not working and wasn't able to transfer all of my contacts for some reason. Never the less I really liked elemental x which is developed by the same person who developed eclipse I believe. I really enjoyed the aesthetics it offered especially changing the color of the navbar which unfortunately I couldn't find without using a ROM. So I decided to go and get the version he was working on before which is Eclipse. installed it today loving it so far. camera works fine but still don't have all my old contacts. Sync your contacts with Goggle and you should always be able to restore them.
As for ROMs, I'm on Slim and I've been on it for a while. I ran AOKP for about 2 weeks and it had the best battery life out of any of the AOSP ROMs. However, I like the custom options of Slim and I'm using Marxman's port of it.
Sent from my Droid RAZR M using xda app-developers app
Thank you for your response is the advice on syncing to Google was very helpful. have all my contacts again. as for the camera I don't believe it was permissions issue and can't remember if I tried fixing the permissions. I might install the ROM again just check. The camera wasn't force closing it was just blank when it came up. Also I get keyboard errors when trying to use other ROMs. Has anyone else gotten that?

I agree that most roms are more unstable than stock.
I am waiting for miui to become stable. It has the first readable status bar that I know of. Anyone care to enlighten me about roms that have "white on black" options?
I would like to find a stock, deodexed, initd'ed & like the DST at Rzr but its not deodexed.
