Need help with Stock Messaging on 4,3 - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm currently running on Omega v20 based on 4.3 ML3. And I also installed Tamirda's Note 3 Mod v3.5 and everything is good.
Just need some help/advise on how to make the fonts smaller in the stock messaging app. On converstaions list, fonts are good (In my settings they are set to Tiny), but when I open a conversation, they get really big, If you compare it to the font sizes in settings, its maybe Large. I just want to lower font size in conversations.
Any advice?

Install Xposed Installer, go to Download, search for AppSettings, change DPI and Font Scale. Profit.

[Q] Make all application icons smaller?

Hello, is there an application to make all the application icons installed smaller?
Or do I have to do it for each icon separately?
I suppose there should be an xml setting somewhere for the icon size?
Thanks!
this question of yours should be in Q/A section

Root your phone and modify the build.prop file under system/
ro.sf.lcd_density=240 (default) I set mine to 200
reboot
Hey, I just tried that but it doesn't work, icons are still the same size although it's set to 200. Do I need to delete cache/dalvik?
In ADW Launcher EX, you can set icon size freely. I don't think it's possible in TouchWiz.
Forgot to mention, I am using go launcher. I am sure it's possible because a lot of go launcher ex themes use smaller icons, any ideas?

worked for me with standard TW 4.0 and KI4.
looks a little weired. not anly the app icons are smaller now. everything is smaller now. notification, phone, dock, apps, menues.....
take a look
Yeah because it has to do with the screen not the icons. So everything changes resolution. What I wanna do is to reduce all the icon sizes by an amount. How can this be done?
I suppose it can be found if you decompile a go launcher ex theme and change the xmls, but I can't find an option for icon size anywhere.
//EDIT:
I just found it, it was <scalefactor> on XML.
Hello, I recommend the free app Multicon.
Try this
Hi.
Try with Multi icon widget. Its free in market. I have tested it and it works.
Rega
Yes guys but this doesn't resize all your icons in the system right? Only in the desktop. I was talking about the whole system, like App drawer.
Anyway I found the solution so thanks
Try alt drawer. Use it instead of the default app drawer. Can change icon size and various other stuff

Not sure about this. I had the same issues with font on stock E4GT. But if you happen to be using GO Launcher, you can go into menu>Preferences>Advanced Settings>Scan font>Font
This will let you choose from any font currently on your phone, whether one you uploaded or one associated with an app. Quick, easy and it sticks. Unfortunately this only works with GO so if you don't like GO or want to stick with stock you could also try Font Changer or Metamorph, both work on stock TW or any 3rd party launcher.
I've never been able to get it to stick.
If you happen to me rooted you can also change the dpi for your phone with an app:
LCD Resolution
or
ROM Toolbox
Bewarned though, TW launcher doesn't look quite right and you will likely want a custom launcher. But it will do the trick.
Just_s I have GO launchee and my font isn't the problem. Its the size of the font :-( and for the other guy I have tried the density changer and like my keyboard to stay big and I have to go back to 240dpi to install almost anyapp which is not worth running the density changer. So any way to keep my font smaller ? Like u can do usinf spare parts but make it stick and stop reverting

i am new user of android i bought Galaxy s2 about three weeks ago so transform form Nokia so dont know much i have ginger bread is there anyway to change or simple reduce the font size to very low overall i like the small font.but cant figure out how ..couple of problem more like si there any way to change teh theam i see in google play but cant figure out how to apply them same goes for laucher please help,
Go to System Settings >> Display. There wou will find the option to change your font type and font size.
nope there is only style option three of them not a size option
Download fronts packs from play store and apply any small front tht sud do the work for uh...
Or if you are rooted... Then use rom tool box... From play store it has lots of fronts small big as uh want...
Cheers

Also you can install "font changer" and change any font you want. instead of installing a complete font pack, it can change fonts seperately. and it lets you use your normal ttf fonts from your computer.
I also want to change font size not font style. Tried big font but always restart my foreground app when turning my phone.

To use themes you'll need to install a 3rd party launcher, such as go launcher, adw, or nova, etc. Thee are many lunchers to choose from and they give you much more customizability over stock/default launcher.

try SpareParts app see if it works on ics, or flash CM9 rom samsung removed the "font size" feature from ics
If your phone is rooted, you can try to change the DPI with an app like DPI Changer.
(DPI Custom : 212 is great)

Having a hard time on CM10.1 or TW ROM ?

Just got my Note 2 a week ago, I have tried like six different ROM's, won't name names, but they were all very good. We are lucky to have such good developers on our ATT Note 2.
But now I can't settle on which type of ROM I like, Touchwiz based, or CM10.1 AOSP based ? What is your opinion ?
I like the TW ROM's, for being stock, and having the awesome S-Pen Stylus features, and fantastic battery life, but I hate the stock TW Messaging app, and sock TW Dialer/Contacts, and they all seemed just a tad choppy, or little bit of tiny lag, once in awhile. i tried some of the mods for AOSP messaging, but they all seem to have an issue, not 100% ready for daily driving yet.
Now the CM10.1 ROM's were crazy fast, super smooth, but at the cost of battery life, being almost 1/3rd that of TW ROM's, not terrible battery life, no, just not as good as Touchwiz battery. But AOSP looks really good, and I love the group messaging and vanilla text app, it works perfectly. And the AOSP Dialer & Contacts are my favorite. But with CM10.1 no S-Pen widgets or good Stylus features. But I LOVE the group message and quick reply in CM10.1, which works 100% perfectly. Why didn't Samsung allow quick reply in JB Touchwiz, and no group messaging either ? WTF Samsung
What do you prefer and why ?
Ya I jump between AOKP and CM10.1 settled on CM10.1 for now. I just like the interface and being able to be in 240dpi. As for spen I use papyrus. does what I need. The ROM size is great between 130 Mb to 200 Mb depending on the ROM. Saves space for internal storage and all. To me AOKP and CM10.1 are nice, snappy and elegant. I like sophisticated simplicity and a dark theme. Love being rooted so I can do what I want with my phone. It's only getting better. Pulse I get to run Jellybean 4.2

Are you running stock CM10.1 Nightly ?
How do you set the DPI to 240 ?
You can edit your DPI in build.prop to 240 or run Jellybeer he has a great DPI changer with DPI groups.

Thanks, so for me a newb, how do I edit that ? Can I use Root Explorer to do that ?
And what is your opinion on 240 DPI for the Note 2 ? That seems like a popular size from what I read all over the Note forums. I am daring and just edited that file with text editor through Root Explorer. Let's see what happens after a reboot ? OMFG
UPDATE; yep that worked Thanks to Nova launcher I can custom the icon size @ 110% looks a little better at 240 DPI, and then in System - settings changed font size to large. Both those changes make 240 look really good to me. Does 240 effect performance at all ?

in 240 dpi you have more screen space to put it simply you can have 6 rows and 5 colums for your icons in the app drawer and the homescreen.
just change ro.sf.lcd_density=320 to 240
Only issue is that some apps like phone.apk put the search bar at the top enstead of the bottom that is why I use jellybeer I can put systumui in a 280dpi group and that solves the issue.
That's why I like CM10.1 and AOKP you have lots of options from developers. Your not tied down by what samsung wants you to use. You can make changes.
I actually really love the 280 DPI setting, things look a little smaller, which is good, but @ 240 DPI it changed too much.
is cool we can change the DPI so easily on CM101., just one setting Root Explorer, reboot, and all done, looks great. No issues whatsoever.

[Q] Two Questions About 4.1.2 Notification Interface

1. Does anyone else find the notification font to be too big? If it was smaller, I could see more detail, in say, the Gmail notifications. Is there a way this can be changed? Also, is this different on any of the custom TW roms based on this new T-Mobile base?
2. The quick toggles are missing the data toggle. Same questions here: can this be changed? are there custom TW roms that have this? (I believe yes, since all the custom 4.0.4 roms I had included this useful toggle.)
(Note: I'm only interested in custom roms that include Wi-Fi calling, but please feel free to answer generally to help others who stumble upon this thread.)

I'm not sure about the notification font but I think you can just go into the display settings, reduce the font and see how that goes, and for the data toggles I do have one (I'm using the jedi mind trick jb rom by ptmr3) it is also customizable too.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using Tapatalk 2
I was also quite surprised by the large font size in the notifications which made everything quite crowded in there. The Display font size in settings does not affect the notification fonts unfortunately. Luckily, ptmr3's Jedi Mind Trick JB includes a nice fix for this with the Per-app DPI settings.
1. In Settings, Jedi ROM Tricks, Custom Framework Install, make sure the Framework is active by clicking Install / Update
2. At the same place, in the Modules tab, make sure Xposed App Settings is checked
3. In Settings Jedi ROM Tricks, Per-App DPI Settings, search for systemUI.
4. Toggle the switch to ON and set DPI to 200 or 210 (I use 210). Leave everything else as is.
5. Click the Save icon in the top right
6. Reboot phone and profit!
As for your second question, JMT JB does include a Data toggle

Right now I'm on the stock official JB release. I've changed the font size under the display settings to tiny, and everything seems much better now. Also if you go into setting in the Messaging App you can check a box to allow the volume rockers to change the size of the messages. This also helped me as I didn't like how big the bubbles were by default. Once you are in a convo you can press the down volume to make everything smaller.

Changing the font size in the settings does not affect the Notifications, but in general I like the small font everywhere. Next weekend, I will probably reroot. I wanted to give stock a chance. The last 6 months I've been bouncing between Infamous 3.1 and Jedi Mind Trick. I will probably give the new Jedi ROM a try.
