[Q] Make all application icons smaller? - Galaxy S II Themes and Apps

Hello, is there an application to make all the application icons installed smaller?
Or do I have to do it for each icon separately?
I suppose there should be an xml setting somewhere for the icon size?
Thanks!

this question of yours should be in Q/A section

Root your phone and modify the build.prop file under system/
ro.sf.lcd_density=240 (default) I set mine to 200
reboot

Hey, I just tried that but it doesn't work, icons are still the same size although it's set to 200. Do I need to delete cache/dalvik?

In ADW Launcher EX, you can set icon size freely. I don't think it's possible in TouchWiz.

Forgot to mention, I am using go launcher. I am sure it's possible because a lot of go launcher ex themes use smaller icons, any ideas?

worked for me with standard TW 4.0 and KI4.
looks a little weired. not anly the app icons are smaller now. everything is smaller now. notification, phone, dock, apps, menues.....

Yeah because it has to do with the screen not the icons. So everything changes resolution. What I wanna do is to reduce all the icon sizes by an amount. How can this be done?
I suppose it can be found if you decompile a go launcher ex theme and change the xmls, but I can't find an option for icon size anywhere.
//EDIT:
I just found it, it was <scalefactor> on XML.

Hello, I recommend the free app Multicon.

Try this
Hi.
Try with Multi icon widget. Its free in market. I have tested it and it works.
Rega

Yes guys but this doesn't resize all your icons in the system right? Only in the desktop. I was talking about the whole system, like App drawer.
Anyway I found the solution so thanks

Try alt drawer. Use it instead of the default app drawer. Can change icon size and various other stuff

[Q] 5 apps across in the app drawer?

Hello, all.
I have tried searching to no avail.
While experimenting with different roms, I know certain roms come with the app drawer reflecting 5 apps going across the phone instead of the stock 4. My question is: Is there some kind of flashable file that can make the app drawer show 5 apps going across it?
Thanks in advance.
I use adw launcher and it can hold 5

Yea, but I'm one of the few people that like Sense. I was hoping one of the devs had made a flashable file that I just wasn't able to find.
One thing thats different about android and WM is the fact that it isn't as easy to make a flashable file for ALL ROMs. What happens is in this case for example is the rosie.apk has been modified to show 5 x 5 icons. That rosie.apk also contains some the graphics that make up the rosie (some are in another apk as well). So what would have to happen is someone would have to create a rosie.apk for each style of rosie currently available or maybe someone would create the file just for you. They could most likely do it if they new what rosie you were using. In WM it was a simple modify a registry setting or add something to the registry.
OH and just as many people like Sense as people that don't. I like it.

Help.. How to install icon packs

Hello everyone
I would like to say first that i did use the search but didnt find the answer i needed.
So here goes
I'm trying to install a full icon set on my Galaxy S I9000 but i have no idea how to do that
example:
DINIK's "HD2" IconSet
Link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=591248
When i search i see people using bettercut or apps organizer and some other app to apply the icon packs.
I'm getting the idea you have to apply them 1 by 1 but i hope its not the case.
I'm using ADW launcher if that helps
many thanks in advance
I dont know if I understand you, but if you want to apply icon packs or multiple icons using ADW, then you need to install an ADW theme. Else you have to do it one by one using any other app (e.g. Bettercut) or using ADWs icon packs via the custom shortcut option. These only work on home screens as far as i know, I'm not sure if you can change the icon in the app drawer if you are trying to do that too.
Or you can just make your own ADW theme..
i've been looking for an app that can change icons (app drawer included) but to no avail. i'm using LPP
It would be great to be able to edit the drawer icons with ease, but dont think its possible

First of all... I am not sure if you know this but these icons seem to be for Windows Mobile and not Android so I dont know if they will work.
Secondly... I am running Launcher Pro Plus and use an app called Desktop Visualizer to change my icons.
What you need to do is find the icon packs in a zip file format and either unzip them directly to your SGS or unzip them to the computer and transfer the images to your device via USB. From there you startup Desktop Visualizer and follow the prompts for selecting the icon of your choice, linking it to its function, etc...
I hope this helps. If anyone has an easier way please advise...

Folder Organizer lets you assign different icons to apps/folders/contacts/etc. It automatically scans your system for icons, which is cool, but you still have to apply them one by one. This doesn't change the icons in the app drawer though. If I understand correctly, to change an app's icon you need to edit the .apk before installing.
@ jumba
i need better cut.. @ market it is paid.. is there any free link or lite version

Also Folder Organizer is VERY slow....
Clicking the normal icon is instant... clicking you handmade Folder Organizer version of that icon takes 2 secs before the app even starts.
Looks good, but slower then normal.
I think the only way to do the correctly is to edit the framework.apk or something.
Until now I have had no succes finding the icons in any apk to replace them...
Idealy you want to unzip an apk, replace al the icons you want and flash it back.

But to do that you need to resign the apk files (if it's a market app). Not a easy thing to do.

[Q] Transparent app drawer background?

The black background of HTC's Sense looks really lo-tech to me, like they're not even trying to make it look decent. In my opinion, they could have at least given it a gradient layer.
Anywho, is there a way to get a transparent app drawer background without changing launchers? I've really grown to like Sense GUI and all it's useful little widgets
If this isn't possible, can the app drawer background at least be changed to a custom image of some sort? Or as a more general question, can the drawer be altered in any other way, shape, or form, besides the column/row number?

you can change your theme, by using uot kitchen, just change the part you like , in your case transparency under options...
here is a link : http://uot.dakra.lt/
I don't know. I've used UOT Kitchen before, but I've never come across any such option. Would you, or anyone else, mind telling me which tab to look under?
Tried it in my rom, but it didnt work.
You need to decompile rosie.apk and change colors in xml files.
Custom images not possible.
Google it on xda forum.

Oh, well. I guess I can live with a black app drawer then I'd have tried doing that, but since a more experienced person couldn't do it, I don't see why I should bother with it.

You misunderstood, I meant the app drawer, not the pull-down status bar, but thanks for the reply =]

You could go launcher ex it has that option to change the app drawer background
If you use Go Launcher, you lose the Sense widgets which is considered by many to be one of Sense's biggest features... And the OP mentioned that he liked the widgets.
And this thread was ages old!
App Drawer and Dock
Has anybody got a zip that will make the app drawer and dock transparent. I'm running sense and no ROM.

Changing background on apps/widgets screens

Let's say I have a theme I really love except that the background for apps/widgets icon screens is plain black and I want background to be the same as the wallpaper. Given that there is no setting for this, I assume I will need to learn how to open theme, replace plain background with wallpaper and reassemble theme. Yes?
What are the likely names of the home screen and app/widget backgrounds and where in res would they be? They're going to be a png file, yes?
I assume with this information and Photoshop I can follow instructions in how to theme thread to actually accomplish this task.
Is there any other way to accomplish this task?
A lot of apps don't actually have a plain background. It's written in the code to draw every pixel black. So it mostly really comes down to the app developer. If it's not written in the code, then it certainly would be possible to replace the background

I wasn't being clear. I meant the background on the screens with apps/widgets icons.
Given that wallpaper png is already in apk, I'm thinking changing xml settings for background of apps/widgets screens to wallpaper.png would work...if I knew what these settings were and in which xml file they would be. The other issue is there are several versions of the wallpaper png files in the apk, with different sizes and, I think, resolutions.
It sounds like your talking about the APP DRAWER? If so then you would need to check in the xxxxLauncher.apk (this depends on anything like what firmware/ROM your using. So it could be SecLauncher.apk, ApexLauncher.apk, NovaLauncher.apk, Etc....
So depending on the launcher you would need to see if it has an option already in it or extract the .apk and look for whatever file it uses for the background and replace it with whatever you want to.
For example: Apex Launcher has a setting in Apex Settings/Drawer Settings/Drawer Background Transparency/ popup with moveable bar that will allow it to see through to whichever wallpaper you have on your home screen.
Once you figure out how/where it is located inside the .apk then make sure the wallpaper you want to use is the same pixel size. Now open 7zip and find the launcher.apk and hit OPEN ARCHIVE. Next navigate to where the background.PNG or background.jog file is. Now drag the WALLPAPER you want onto the screen of 7zip. Hit okay when it ask if you want to add it. Now take that .apk and put it back on your phone, use a root explorer and move it to system and paste it there. Now long press on it and choose permissions and set it to rw-r-r. Next long press and hit move. Move to system/app and paste. It should ask to overwrite the .apk so hit yes. Reboot phone and it should be done.
These are just BASIC HOW TOs but should help guide you in the right direction .

Yes, it is the app drawer. I'll go over your reply and parse out the details. I'm running LiquidSmooth on one S3 and Vanilla Rootbox on other one. LS came with Nova, which I disabled and installed Android stock launcher. I don't know what Rootbox is, but it seems like stock. Same theme on both. Thanks for reply.

I checked with several of the launcher devs, and they said that while their app drawer has variably background transparency, they don't support separate wallpaper background. Is that not your experience?

Extract Icons from Icon Packs?

what is the easiest way to extract individual icons from icon packs so you don't have to universally apply all icons within a pack?

I use nova launcher which makes this easy. Just press and hold on the icon you want changed. When the menu pops up, select settings (the cog wheel). This will bring you to a menu that you can change the icon image, name and also assign a second action when swiping the icon opposed to just tapping on it.
I hope that helps.

Yup that helps except I'd like to use the stock launcher. There you can add icons from gallery only not an icon pack so that's why I wanted to know if we can extract the pack.

The easiest thing you can do is use extract the apk using 7zip, or you can use root explorer as well if you long press on the icon pack apk and extract it as well. You can also decompile the apk and pull the images from the xxhdpi, xhdpi folders, what icon packs where you looking at, I can extract some for you and just post the zips

He is not trying to do that, he is trying to extract the icons he wants to use and put them in the gallery because he can change the actual system icon and not lose notification functionality. Its a slight different concept because you can longpress on the icons and literally change it like iconchanger, but its built in and you use images from the gallery

Yea except that it doesn't because it doesn't just theme the system icon, it creates a completely new on separate from the system and you lose the notification number, you don't need icon changer..... He just wants the icons so installing icon changer doesn't fix anything, because he still needs the icons so if you read what he is asking, he wants to extract icons

I've been on the google machine and I've gone on the line and still can't find a serviceable .png of these simple icons. I don't want to switch from the stock launcher, and simply want to replace the current icon with a different (stock android) one.

So does anyone know where the system "Icon gallery" icons are kept on this G3? Which folder and what format are they?
I'd like to be able to directly place icons in there, so they come up when I try choose a system icon.
Seems there are limited LG G3 themes available at the moment from LG.
