I recently purchased a digitizer off ebay to replace the cracked one in my boostmobile sg2,,,now iam getting no service what so ever...i was told it was compatiable it being a sprint digitizer....is there any programming i need to do from my end....After contacting boost, they couldnt find anything wrong..i can only think maybe its has something to do wit the internal antenna...which if iam not mistaken is located on the bottom back panel near the charger port...i tried another back,,,but i get the same results....
Sounds like you need to tear it down again and make sure all connections are correct and secure. I'm betting you missed something. If screen lights up and responds to touch it no way has anything to do with the replacement part.

The ESN # is part of the system board, it has nothing to do with the screen/digitizer.

Ok,,i asked because after installing the new digitizer,,i connected the phone with the Dec No. that was on the replacement digitizer and i did get service....but when i disconnected and reconnected with my original Dec No...thats when i get no service all together,,,I guess we are talking about the same numbers...the ones printed on the digitizer itself..mine says Dec or Meid No. not ESN.....the reason i didnt keep it on the same Dec No. that came on the replacement was that signal was very low..going in and out ...then it dawned on me that i didnt use my original Dec No. so i switched it over...then i got no signal whats so ever...i just figured that i was suppose to use my orginal Dec No.. since it was my original board that came out the phone...so its just kind of strange that i would get service from the replacement digitizer Dec. No. and not my own...anyway will experiment when the 2nd replacement arrives..thanks

ESN = dec/Meid, and has nothing to do with the display. All that info is on the system board.

My question isnt about the display...iam asking what ESN do i give boost to activate the phone...my original ESN on the crack digitizer or the one that came wit the replacement digitizer...Note.. that when i used my original ESN i got no service..but did get temp service with the ESN on the replacement...Iam trying to figure out is there something wrong wit the replacement digitizer or is there a issue with which ESN iam using...to why iam getting no service at all...Which iam aware that all that info is on the board...but its printed on the digitizers

And I am trying to tell you that there is not an ESN on a digitizer.
A digitizer is nothing more than a thin transparent sensor the size of the lcd, located on top of the lcd, to show where on the LCD you are touching. It has no intelligence or storage capabilities what so ever.
There is not an ESN printed on a digitizer.
If you have an ESN number somewhere then you are not talking about a digitizer.
As far as getting service. My guess wold be that you might have broken or bent one of the spring touch connectors in the case that connect the antennas. Without having it in my hands I have no way to know for sure.

I recently got a refurbished Dinc 2. The GSM part cannot be unlocked. The unlock service said the IMEI couldn't be recognized by HTC. Is it possible that this phone has been tampered and the IMEI has been changed? I also found the serial numbers under the battery (beginning with HT) and from the phone settings (beginning with MB) are different. All other things seem normal. The ESN is clean since I activated on pageplus. I am concerned with the history of the phone.
Did you get the refurbished incredible 2 for a replacement from Verizon or from someone else?

Is it like a "new" refurbished? Like, after it was refurbished had it been used?

Yes, it is like a "new" refurbished. The condition looks very good, no any scratch/wear all over the phone. The screen protector with the words "remove before use" and "certified pre-owned" was still on. The verizon global sim card was in it. But I did find some photos in the micro sd card in the phone.
Okay idk much about this kind of stuff but I did some reading on this Wikipedia article and it seems to maybe your imei was changed or maybe someone changed another phones imei to yours. I honestly have no clue, just putting out suggestions.
Edit: maybe the box is not original box the phone came with.

I´m having the exact same problem. I got a replacement phone from Best Buy, although the carrier was Verizon, the phones at Best Buy were 100$ cheaper. Anyway, I used their geek squad insurance thing, and I got a phone, minus battery, and a service receipt. The IMEI did not appear on the receipt, nor in on the sticker on the back of the phone. Now there may have been an IMEI that was valid at one point on the phone, but me, being a dumbass, either never took the time to copy it down, or did so on a computer I no longer have or a piece of paper I left somewhere else.
Is there any way we can root around and find the correct IMEI, or figure out the IMEI based on the MEID? Is this the sort of record they would keep in their database?
(I have a new thread describing my problem in more detail HERE:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2103068
Refurb phones will not be in standard htc database these unlockers have.
Most tell you if the phone is a refurb no code will be found. Some have unlockers will have the code but cost much more.
BTW XTC Clip will s-off and sim unlock your phone.
so my first S3 LCD screen cracked and i went out and bought a used S3 off CL (i even called sprint and they said it had a clean ESN) i get home to activate it and then won't because the guy called and reported it lost.well what i am wondering is can i just remove the motherboard from my old s3 with the cracked screen and swap it with the bad ESN phone? would i have to also swap out the radio as well or just the motherboard?

Yup it should work fine. I have done it before with a few phones including a s3. Just Google "taking apart a s3" and you'll find video guides on it.
It may seem difficult but it really is a easy thing to do.

I don't have the box and my screen is broken, where can I find the serial number? I need it for Kies and have already tried entering the HEX and DEC and it says that they are incorrect. Also, anyone know if cracked digitizer without broken glass would be covered under Samsung warranty? Any help would be appreciated.
Hello again, if you don't mind me taking a shot at this...
I'm looking at my phone, box and about device/status and what's missing is the IMEI number found only on the device screen. It appears to be the Hex number with a "1" added to the end.
Can anyone else verify this?
Have you try and look on the back under the battery?
http://support-us.samsung.com/cyber/popup/pop_modelserialnumberlocation.jsp
Oh, I see; the link in post above says Sprint serial number should be the Hex number as you say, (underneath the battery). But since that was rejected by Kies, maybe the phone was registered with the IMEI number, instead.
Also, noticed the about device/status shows "0x" in front of the Hex number.

I trued adding a 0 with no luck. I even shortened both Hex and Dec to 8 9 and 10 digits using numbers from under battery
thanks
If still under warranty, why don't you just exchange for another one.

I read online that this is an issue since the S4... the lcd digitizer is cracked under the glass and probably isnt covered by warranty. will check with Sprint tomorrow.

If it helps, the HEX MEID is the IMEI without the last digit... So your IMEI is your HEX with with a digit 0 - 9 added on the end.
Since Sprint doesn't use the IMEI for nearly anything systems wise (in store or with customer care), I don't think its posted anywhere other than the back of their iPhones they sell. I only know this from working in a Sprint store
Edit: also, you should call Samsung rather than head to a sprint store. I doubt (though don't know for sure) that it is covered by Samsung's warranty. I know at the store level, even the digitizer cracked is considered physical damage and is flagged as damage beyond repair. If you have TEP, then that will be the only option they'll provide you or tell you to go through Samsung... Unless their technician is blind, he might order you a replacement for free, or for $75 as their service and repair fee if you don't carry TEP.
I bought a Sprint Note II off of eBay. It was advertised as a clean ESN and I assumed that the owner was simply upgrading since this is an older phone. I received the phone today and can't activate it with Sprint. I'm a newb and looking for ideas as to what has happened. A few notes:
The sticker on the back under the battery doesn't appear to have been tampered with.
The software IMEI matches the hex sticker. The IMEI is clean per swappa.
The software dec and hex meid do not match the sticker. The software meid has no result in swappa.
The network is listed as sprint and the sprint logo appears on start-up.
I am awaiting a response from the seller. I need a phone for work and bought this one after I busted my G2. What do you all see as my options?
I'm a newb. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks.

Sounds like the seller changed the meid (esn). If seller does not respond contact ebay and tell them. Ebay will refund if seller does not.

Hello , When you send a lg phone for service with issue in motherboard(aka bootloop issue) and they replace it.Service guys associate the new imei and serial number with the old ones ? So if 2 year warranty is over but the new mainboard is much newer, in case of another issue ,for example screen flickering, could we send to it another service center and just don't tell them that the mainboard is replaced?

If im not mistaken it should be from the time they send it back the waranty should basicly be reset. Again if im not mistaken
There have been users send there g4 in multiple times over the last couple years. And ive never heard anyone complain of that.
To make things more clear,
Does service keep record globally to lg the mainboard replacement? So can I claim warranty for screen if passed 2 years from the day I bought it but the replaced mainboard serial number says that I have warranty till August of 2018?Maybe somewhere else from the service shop where I sent it for the bootloop issue because they will not know that mainboard is replaced.
Thanks.

Ill thank that response. That is a very good ? I would like to know that myself.
I was always under the assumption tbat yes any time u send a device in on a waranty and a poce with any kind of serial nums gets replaced the new serial is the new waranty date. I dont think the old imeis are any good any more as people with locked bootloader try to use old unlock bins. Have to update theyre device id and imei with lgs unlock site as their old ones arent reconized any more after mb replacement.

No. Your warranty will not extend to "forever" (if we assume you have a repair once a year.. ) or being reset just because something get replaced. I can speak for Europe only but I don't believe that any other country will do it different. Normally all vendors record the device warranty globally because if not they would loose many money. I say I don't believe but only LG knows for sure.
The bootloop issue is another story. This gets even repaired when outside of warranty e.g. in the USA due to the signed law suit. That's why this is not an issue for the most people.
