so my first S3 LCD screen cracked and i went out and bought a used S3 off CL (i even called sprint and they said it had a clean ESN) i get home to activate it and then won't because the guy called and reported it lost.well what i am wondering is can i just remove the motherboard from my old s3 with the cracked screen and swap it with the bad ESN phone? would i have to also swap out the radio as well or just the motherboard?

Yup it should work fine. I have done it before with a few phones including a s3. Just Google "taking apart a s3" and you'll find video guides on it.
It may seem difficult but it really is a easy thing to do.

Hey everyone,
My friend SWIM has a few question regarding Galaxy S2 (T989). SWIM currently has two galaxys, one is blacklisted/unusable and the other has a busted screen.
First off, since SWIM has the blacklisted G2, is there a way to take out the motherboard from his busted one and install it into his blacklisted one?
or is it cheaper to just replace the screen and can he do it himself?
Thank you in advance.

The board is very easy to replace. On the other hand the cracked screen isn't. With these phones you actually have to purchase the LCD/Digitizer/Glass to get the screen fixed. It's a pain in the ***.
I destroyed my screen on my I747 about a month and a half ago, and I need to replace the glass, digitizer, and LCD. My question is simple: Will the parts from a different carrier work on different phones?
For example, if I was to buy the assembled frame with complete screen from a Sprint Galaxy S3, the L710, would it match up with my AT&T I747? I would understand if the I9300 parts wouldn't match up, since I would expect it to have a different mainboard, but I'm hoping all of the US versions are the same.
the t999 and the i747 are the same cuz thats what i did. got a broken att phone off ebay and used the tmobile t999 screen assembly

And I was asking about the L710.
I recently dropped by GNex and the screen got shattered. :/
I've been looking for a replacement screen online and found that replacement screens for this phone are relatively expensive. But then I found a part labelled as a replacement screen for the Sprint Galaxy Nexus. I was wondering if this part would work with my unlocked GSM Galaxy Nexus? Would it be compatible?

In theory it will fit, but no idea if it works.
There shouldn't be a difference right? I mean isn't the sprint version supposed to be the same except for the radio?
Don't think it will fit..
Someone went ahead despite the uncertainty, he have not report back yet..
I guess I will go ahead without certainty too...
im pretty sure it doesnt. i believe the cable is in a different spot.
I recently purchased a digitizer off ebay to replace the cracked one in my boostmobile sg2,,,now iam getting no service what so ever...i was told it was compatiable it being a sprint digitizer....is there any programming i need to do from my end....After contacting boost, they couldnt find anything wrong..i can only think maybe its has something to do wit the internal antenna...which if iam not mistaken is located on the bottom back panel near the charger port...i tried another back,,,but i get the same results....
Sounds like you need to tear it down again and make sure all connections are correct and secure. I'm betting you missed something. If screen lights up and responds to touch it no way has anything to do with the replacement part.

The ESN # is part of the system board, it has nothing to do with the screen/digitizer.

Ok,,i asked because after installing the new digitizer,,i connected the phone with the Dec No. that was on the replacement digitizer and i did get service....but when i disconnected and reconnected with my original Dec No...thats when i get no service all together,,,I guess we are talking about the same numbers...the ones printed on the digitizer itself..mine says Dec or Meid No. not ESN.....the reason i didnt keep it on the same Dec No. that came on the replacement was that signal was very low..going in and out ...then it dawned on me that i didnt use my original Dec No. so i switched it over...then i got no signal whats so ever...i just figured that i was suppose to use my orginal Dec No.. since it was my original board that came out the phone...so its just kind of strange that i would get service from the replacement digitizer Dec. No. and not my own...anyway will experiment when the 2nd replacement arrives..thanks

ESN = dec/Meid, and has nothing to do with the display. All that info is on the system board.

My question isnt about the display...iam asking what ESN do i give boost to activate the phone...my original ESN on the crack digitizer or the one that came wit the replacement digitizer...Note.. that when i used my original ESN i got no service..but did get temp service with the ESN on the replacement...Iam trying to figure out is there something wrong wit the replacement digitizer or is there a issue with which ESN iam using...to why iam getting no service at all...Which iam aware that all that info is on the board...but its printed on the digitizers

And I am trying to tell you that there is not an ESN on a digitizer.
A digitizer is nothing more than a thin transparent sensor the size of the lcd, located on top of the lcd, to show where on the LCD you are touching. It has no intelligence or storage capabilities what so ever.
There is not an ESN printed on a digitizer.
If you have an ESN number somewhere then you are not talking about a digitizer.
As far as getting service. My guess wold be that you might have broken or bent one of the spring touch connectors in the case that connect the antennas. Without having it in my hands I have no way to know for sure.
Hi everyone! I have a quick question. In the process of trying to replace the broken screen on my S3, I ended up breaking the LCD/Digitizer -.-
I was on the hunt for a replacement i747 so I could switch out the motherboards, but on Ebay, I saw a listing of a Sprint phone that had the i747 motherboard inside of it. So my question is, could I place my motherboard inside any of the S3 variants and it will work? I know it will work with T-Mobile, but what about Sprint, Verizon, etc? Thanks :3
Nope. It won't fit.
The sprint version lacks a Sim tray so that's One incompatibility
Thanks for the answers! I'm guessing the phone I saw actually just had the Sprint LCD in the i747 housing. Or something like that. Either way, I just decided to buy another cheap i747 and switch out the boards. Thanks again
