Seems to me, that is your battery killer, unless I wasn't looking close enough.

Similar problem with Phone Radio battery use 60+%
I think I am having a similar problem as the OP with the caveat that this is a new phone to me so it *seems* so far that the battery life hasn't been great (compared to my Galaxy S3 with extended battery). GSAM has been reporting a phone radio usage as high as 60%! (similar to OP's screen capture of GSAM).
My phone is SOFF and was running the following combination:
- Received phone at .10. I rooted and unlocked the phone. Flashed Joel's GPE Kitkat rom. Realized that the GPS wasn't working (and read that I needed to flash a sense based rom), so flashed to Bonestock 2.0.2
- Under BoneStock, I found that the battery was draining at 5%/hour. No abnormal looking wakelocks according to BetterBatteryStats or GSAM. However, phone radio in GSAM was reading 60+%.
-Reverted to stock recovery, did a HBOOT factory reset and a flash with the .15 RUU. Phone radio in GSAM appears to be "better" at ~13-18%.
What should I really be expecting and should I trust the Phone Radio stat in GSAM?
Thanks!!

You were running an incompatible radio and firmware with that KitKat based ROM.
Had you made any voice calls you would have noticed no in call audio.
When changing software bases, it really is important that you also pay attention to the ROMs firmware and radio requirements and recommendations.
If you don't, then expect sub par performance and reliability.
Flashing the RUU made everything match up and behave normally again.
Hope that helps...
As far as what to expect for readings....those were high for sure, but every users phone and usage is gonna vary, quite a bit.
Sent from my HTC6500LVW using Tapatalk
Sorry I forgot to mention that I had upgraded the firmware to both of the kitkat compatible versions (. 15 and the latest version) prior to flashing kitkat or bonestock.

Oh OK. Thanks for clarifying.
In that case then, it could be that you are in a fringe coverage area.
Maybe the ROM and ril just happen to be jumping towers more then a stock configuration on KitKat.
And on Bone stock, not removing the apps and utilities that trigger the DM service to try and look for updates can put quite a strain on the poor radio.
If you flash it again and he hasn't removed the files, flash my OTA killer zip.
It will remove them for you and any chance of it looking for any other updates.

Out at 12, barely no use at work and its at 53% I have an extended battery. Usually I listen to music all at work and by the time I get home at 11 its under 20%. I've seen people get 2 days out of theirs with over 8 hours of screen time...... something just doesn't seen right with battery life. Any ideas?

That is SUCH a subjective question to ask. There are so many different variables that can effect battery life. What apps you have installed, which ones were running. Seeing as you are not using a stock battery, it makes it a even more difficult question to answer. Personally, I'd be happy with those specs

May be you should do Battery Calibration and wipe battery stats at 100% Charge and test again.
It all depends on what is running and what you use, such as taskillers and synced items. But 15h is good battery life. I get about 11 but almost 3 hours of that is screen on time.

Something is definitely hijacking your battery. Or at least those stats make that seem very likely. I would try another ROM and use the stock battery. Some(mostly all) of the cheap extended batteries are only really good for the first couple charges, for some reason they just can't hold one after that. Had a very similar problem on my captivate only to realize the extended battery was the problem. The stock battery on that phone ended up giving me over 4x the life.

Install Juice Defender.. i installed it when i saw my phone couldn't last more then 18h and now( well when i had it) i go push it 2-3 days on my normal use that i was doing.. just by installing Juice Defender.
also when WiFi is not around you should take it off.. and LTE takes a lot of battery life. just saying.
also when you go to bed on travel and don't have a charger.. Put it on FLIGHT MODE you will only lose like 1% of battery after 8 h of sleep
Install "GSam Battery Monitor"
it should help you to find out what process in Android System is draining your battery

I downloaded the Ktoonsez kernel today for my new S3(first android phone as well), but 1. It feels so laggy compare to my stock Kernel, and 2. My battery is draining like crazy! I when from like 94% to 88% in about 30 mins, and that was with the phone lock the entire time....
I also downloaded Flaux's Kernel. That one was real smooth, but it was also draining my battery a lot while the phone is also lock.
I'm currently using HighOnAndroid custom ROM and had to go back to the factory stock Kernel. I don't know what I'm doing wrong that I'm getting such horrible battery life using those two ROMs, when people are reporting such great battery life usage :crying:
.The battery needs to build a cache to reference and stabilize to show proper battery stats. Flash a rom and kernel and stick with it a few days. I'm using ktoonsez on aokp right now with excellent results. Even on stock roms I use ktoonsez kernel and get much better battery life via the kernel itself and tweaking the settings.
Also, if your saying the rom wasn't smooth I bet it wasn't the kernels doing, it works awesome for most. Of course there are some phones some things just don't work with and that may be your situation but it'd be rare

Well that could be anything, but ideally yes. Battery if very eradic after a full wipe and flash. Also try the app better battery stats, it will tell you if anything is causing your phone not to sleep, which would cause drain.

Same here for me. I wiped everything, reflashed the stock 4.1.2 image and still have the battery drain, even with no accounts set up, location services deactivated, flight mode on and no extra apps installed. Drain is pretty consistently 5% / hour and my battery stats show no active states when the screen is off. I thought about it being related to a defective SIM card, but the same drain is observed with 2 different cards or even no sim card inserted. I have no clue what else to do...
I got my Gnex after JB was released. How was the battery life on ICS? How long could you have the screen on?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
When I didn't use my phone a lot, I went home with 70-80% battery after a workday (sync fully enabled, working WiFi all through the day). Screen time was ~3h.
So, is it worth going back to ICS? JB is superb, but i hate not being able to keep the screen on for a long time. I read a lot on my phone.

Depends on what screen time you're getting now. My major concern is standby drain which is so high I couldn't get a decent amount of screen time if I wanted to. Oh, and and I use the European GSM Nexus, btw.

Hi guys, I previously had an EVO LTE, and an Epic 4GT when I was Sprint but picked this device up when I changed carriers several weeks ago and haven't had the chance to root it yet, so my SGIII is 100% stock.
After downloading and installing the OTA update two days ago, two factory resets, and wiping my SD card multiple times the device is still noticeably more sluggish than it was when it was running 4.0.4. I was under the impression that Jelly Bean would speed up the device, not bog it down, is anyone else experiencing similar issues?

I've noticed this before, and I'm puzzled - how come everyone here has so much of their battery consumed by "android system"?
On my S3, "Cell standby" is always by far the biggest drain - mine is currently showing 54% on Cell Standby and the next by rank are Screen at 18% and Andriod System at 13%.
Ok, it does vary a bit with the pattern of usage, but I've never seen battery stats on my phone with Cell Standby at less than 50%. I use the phone a fair amount and usually get close to 2 days on a charge.

It's a known issue about the cell stand by. They have a fix for it somewhere in the forums, i think you need to be rooted to fix it.

So, are you saying that if I fixed it I would get even better battery life? I already get close to two days which seems to be a lot better than what most people here moan about!

It won't change the battery life but it will correct what is really using the battery. Samsung made a little goof. Cell standby is reporting 10 times higher than it should. Divide by ten to get the real usage number or apply the fix.

Not sure if this is the correct area but I have been having issues with battery drain. I even went as far as to get a new OEM battery from sprint. I tried clearing everything and reflashing CM10 and still horrible battery issues. I even tried the tweaks flash after and it still didnt help. Can anyone point me in the right direction please.

Wish I could figure it out too. Do you have better battery stats?
Curious to know if thus plagues you too.
Oh and its no the battery. You have an app, or process using CPU. I cannot find the cause of mine but these k workers show up no matter if fresh flash to anything other then rooted stock

I am sorry I do not know what that is.
I'd recommend downloading Better Battery Stats too. You can get the xda edition from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1179809
After you install it, reboot your phone and let it stay idle for about twenty minutes. Then go under "partial wakelocks" in the app and you'll most likely find the culprit.

When u charge your battery with the same app gsam battery once u open it at the bottom left there's a what looks like a vacuum click that and see what app is draining your battery. Other than that there's nothing else I can think of.
