my Samsung note 2 (4.1.2) unrooted and under warranty i need to install DN3 rom
Give me proper method to root
after rooting Can i need to be update boatload
after install DN3 root is my phone show Knox counter or binary counter .
Just download this app Framaroot.
Its here on xda cos the ceator is a xda member by the name of alephzain.
Google search it.Its not in Play store.
Open the app and there will be 4 options.Choose aragon for N7100.You will have root.
Important: Immediately after obtaining root make a backup of your rom and backup your efs.
Use a custom recovery like TWRP or Phils to do the backup.Subscribe to Dr.Ketans threads on how to backup efs.
Its a all in one gem of a thread.
Everything you'll ever need for the N7100 is there. Read it.

Here's the way. It worked for me.
Please try this at your own risk. OTA with root could be potentially dangerous, especially so if you've modified any system files.
(optional) Update to latest ROM.
Root using this guide (method 1).
Reset counter using TriangleAway V2.37 (also resets "modified" status in download mode).
Wipe data for SysScope and Enterprise SysScope (or something similar).
Boot into recovery (Power + Volume UP + Home from off, let go of power after a few seconds).
Wipe cache.
Reboot. You now have OTA.
OTA will take away your root every time. To fix this:
Download VooDoo OTA Rootkeeper from Play Store.
Backup your root.
Restore it after every OTA.
Redo the OTA backup every time you update your binary or change your su app.
That's the best I can do for now. I've found this method to work but I switched to a custom ROM later. Please press thanks if I helped. If system status in settings goes modified, redo steps 3-7 in the first list.

Before someone posts any cocky answers like some of us have lives and dont have the time to read everything' stick to youf lives and dont muck with your phones....

I recently heard about the new update to T-Mobile Galaxy Note 2 phones, but I can't seem to update it because every time that I try I receive the error message "Your device has been modified. Software u[dates are not available". Every answer that I search for talks about factory resetting the phone. is there anyway to Unroot this phone and upgrade it without having to wipe all of my data? The phone won;t let me transfer any of my apps to my SD card, so it would be a painful process trying to reinstall everything.
When I try to install SuperSu from google play it says " There is no Su binary installed, and SuperSu cannot install it. This is a problem!".
I have no idea what I have done and I have no idea how to fix it.
Still need help here, I can't seem to install any updates from the Recovery menu either.
Do you have a custom recovery? Why not just flash a updated stock rom? Or u can always just odin the new update tar

I don't understand half of the stuff that you just said.
I don''t have any recovery and I don't want to lose my data if I flashed my phone to a different rom, which has happened before.
The last time I flashed a phone was back in 2010, and with all of the new methods out there i wouldn't want to mess up my phone and brick it.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2228881 ull need a custom recovery, easy way would be the root kit exe http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1957720

Easiest method I've found to root is the no trip root from mrRobinson. After that, just use goo manager or Rom manager to get a custom recovery, then flash away
Thanks guys, i got it. along with 12 flash counters.

Hey guys I got the s3 today and I need some help to root it. Is there a way that you can just flash the cwm zip file In stock recovery and root it?
Or is there a community custom kernel out there that u can just flash and it installs busybox and SU?

Run Root66 through Odin and it will Root stock for you.
Since you just got the phone today, I suggest you read around a bit before opening threads like this. There are tons of guides and the like out there, all for the taking and have been here for some time now. Check the Stickies and use Search in the Q&A section.
Good luck and welcome to the T999.

Ive got the at&t 1317 4.3 done by OTA -- searched and searched -- couldn't find the latest root method for the 4.3 MK6. Can someone link me to the most current method for rooting this version with 4.3 mk6 software?
Cf-auto-root - thread is in original dev forum
Flash in Odin
Most current version here http://autoroot.chainfire.eu/
If i317 - http://download.chainfire.eu/280/CF...uto-Root-t0lteatt-t0lteatt-samsungsghi317.zip
If i317m - http://download.chainfire.eu/279/CF-Root/CF-Auto-Root/CF-Auto-Root-t0ltecan-t0ltevl-sghi317m.zip
Otherwise, search first link for your phone.
After install, go to play store, update super su then run it. Update binary if asked using normal method. When asked if you want to disable Knox answer yes.
That's it.

Thank you for the links -- one more question -- how about installing a recovery for flashing roms ?
Philz cwm or twrp - both can be found on the first page of the att note 2 original Dev forum. Or you can follow my sig to the i317 links.... My mk6 thread has links to the OPs of both.

Thanks for all the responses -- ive continued to read other threads and im 50/50 on wanting to root this phone seeing that its a chance it will work or not. if I get a successful root if I so decide to undo root that its a long complex process and not sure I would be able to do it.
Im only a month into my contract and seeing as to root is kinda easy but to achieve unroot is a long complex many step process and it still does not reset this KNOX counter incase for whatever reason I need to have warranty done , I am now very hesitant to root.

I may wait a bit then...
We honestly don't know if/when our development teams will find a solution for Knox bootloader downgrade...
If my phone was only a month old...I'd keep stock....g
