Are there any devs or someone smarter than me, that could theme the top notification bar and bottom navigation bar to be semi transparent/fully transparent like how it is on the homescreen w kitkat, so when im in an app it could still be transparent instead of big black bars?
I'm a newb when it comes to editing ui files etc, thanks for the help.

I think when you update to 4.4.2 Google gave all the devices the transparency on both the nav bar and notification bar. Its even on the lockscreen too. If you open up some app they take advantage of it. Some apps don't such as fb. I think its up to the developers to update their apps. So I'm not convinced you need to modify your frameworks or anything like that its all enabled bone stock =]

yeah im just wondering, if its possible to modify the files to make it to where even if an app hasn't, the black will still be semi transparent, b/c im sure there will be plenty of developers who choose to not bother adding it

[GUIDE][MOD] Make Status Bar & Navigation Bar transparent in 4.4 Home/Lockscreen
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
I tried this before on aokp jellybean, its ugly because the transparency isnt within the apps (just like iOS) but the homescreen you can see your wallpaper while inside an app lol i guess it all depends on the app if it wants you to use full emersion :/

Use gravity box module with xposed
Only nexus 5 has transparent bar, nexus 4 update to 4.4.2 cannot install latest android home launcher.
You mean like this?
Sent from my 2013 Nexus 7.
ROM: CleanRom 2.6
Kernel: ElementalX 2.3
CPU: 1728 MHz Overclock
GPU: 450 MHz Overclock
Governor: Ondemand
Just went thru an rooted installed this mod, literally does everything, except transparency lol Thanks tho for the help/replies guys.
Just use a custom rom with it built in. Custom roms have had transparencies way back in the day. Where do you think Google got the idea?
Xposed does this well. You have to enable transparency AND have a launcher and touchscreen that supports it. If your launcher doesn't support it then it won't work. Gotta have both.

Yeah this should work since MS roms are sammy based I believe, however, you won't get the authentic detail to detail touchwiz pulldown that you got with your s3 out of the box but it comes pretty close, and the extra mods like being able to change the status bar transparency and the colour of the notification close bar make it a fair trade off.

Hey guys.
I searched around and haven't been able to find anything , but I'm running MOAR 5.01 and I was wondering if anyone could possibly make a MIUI morphology theme.
And please don't suggest installing MiHome etc, I want a theme to make all of touchwiz to look at least somewhat like MIUI.
It would be GREATLY appreciated,
Thanks.

By all of Touchwiz, I'm guessing just system apps with icons and layouts?

I mean icons, setting menus, including ones that comeup when pressing the menue button , status bar and toggles, icons in status bar. The whole shabang. Or as much of the shabang as possible

You're gonna have to go to AOSP. It is SOOOO much easier to get themes for AOSP and just change themes on the fly with Theme Chooser. This is why I just stayed on AOSP, too much work flashing zips here and there, corrupting system files and bootloops etc....
I have an MIUI theme on my phone now and it looks just about identical. Touchwiz is just a pain in the ass to work with and mod.

Setting menus would be difficult and toggles would be near impossible if you're trying to get
the two page setup and not running 4.2. The custom layouts of the system apps would be ridiculous.

Universal solution: Unicon/icon themer + play store miui theme
Like in nexus 10 or paranoid android rom. Status bar with nav bar in one place. For stock 4,4 or cm 19,2 stable. Thx!
As of now there is no way to get tablet ui on kitkat. Google apparently removed the code. In previous versions the tablet ui was still there just not being used.

What about cyanmod 10.2 based on 4.3?
Even the new 4.2 for nexus 10 doesnt have tablet ui anymore
Apex launcher, and no doubt Nova, allow you to combine the Nav/notification bar for a slightly tabified ui. They also allow other config options like being able to disable the dock and/or the notification bar for a full screen display.
You could look into Xposed modules for changing DPI, but I have no idea how those work with kitkat.

Sorry, I forgot that setting in Apex only disables the dock and puts a persistent search bar at the top. Not very tablified.
Since I accidentially updated to a newer CM10.2 I miss my TabletUI and even more since I saw the new ipad mini retina this weekend. I would do it on my own, but I don't know how.
Please somebody who did it in the past post an TabletUI update for the stable CM10.2 or give me some hints how to make this patch on my own.

Just would have include all the the code google removed.
But the best would be to bid farewell to this relict of the past.
(Tablet UI is now dead for more than 2 years so let it rest in peace.)

Ok, I understand. But I don't want to give up! Why should I buy a tablet with super high resolution and then waste the space with useless notification bars? I made a tabletUI Update for the stable CM10.2 for DEB: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=48538860&postcount=104
We will see what the next Android Update brings...
You know that Android 4.4. introduced the immersive mode.
Developer just need to use it in their apps.
Is there a way to make both transparent all the time in cm11? If so how?
You can get the Tinted Status Bar Mod for Xposed which makes the status bar the same color as what is below it.
Sent from my LG-LS970 using xda app-developers app
you can always use apktool and theme it instead of xposed modules

It was automatic for me in the stock launcher, but I use Nova. If you use Nova you can actually go into the screen settings and check the transparent statusbar option. I downloaded xposed thinkin I could do it with gravgity box and saw that its not included in the 4.4 version. I went in Nova to change something and saw that option and tried it and it worked, without xposed framework.
Hey guys,
I had this idea that seems pretty obvious to me but I'm not sure if its feasible.
Is there a way to build a kitkat ROM where the nav and status bar are always consistently translucent (like in the homescreen?)
Thanks in advance

What is it going to display? For the launcher it is displaying the wallpaper. But nothing to display when you open an app. In case of Paranoid Android it displays a white bar if I make it transparent. And if you enlarge the area available to the app and add the translucent bars, it will block you from accessing some parts of the apps.

Isn't it possible to have paranoid androids per app color feature and to add translucency along with the background color of the status and nav bars though?

Better to run in extended desktop mode w/PIE controls to take full advantage of our 4.65" screen.

I see..so i guess each individual app needs to go ahead and apply their background in the navbar and status bar areas for KitKat devices...which should be really simple, but for some reason they haven't gotten around to it yet..it would make android so much cooler looking..it's basically native per app color that should be instant..
Anyway this is just mu thoughts on the matter and what i would do if i were developing for kitkat devices (which most major apps are already doing, but no UI enhancementa yet)
Thanks for the reply man

AOKP roms can hide the navigation bar making games and apps look full screen
is that what you wanted?
