Is there a way to make both transparent all the time in cm11? If so how?
You can get the Tinted Status Bar Mod for Xposed which makes the status bar the same color as what is below it.
Sent from my LG-LS970 using xda app-developers app
you can always use apktool and theme it instead of xposed modules

It was automatic for me in the stock launcher, but I use Nova. If you use Nova you can actually go into the screen settings and check the transparent statusbar option. I downloaded xposed thinkin I could do it with gravgity box and saw that its not included in the 4.4 version. I went in Nova to change something and saw that option and tried it and it worked, without xposed framework.

Are there any devs or someone smarter than me, that could theme the top notification bar and bottom navigation bar to be semi transparent/fully transparent like how it is on the homescreen w kitkat, so when im in an app it could still be transparent instead of big black bars?
I'm a newb when it comes to editing ui files etc, thanks for the help.

I think when you update to 4.4.2 Google gave all the devices the transparency on both the nav bar and notification bar. Its even on the lockscreen too. If you open up some app they take advantage of it. Some apps don't such as fb. I think its up to the developers to update their apps. So I'm not convinced you need to modify your frameworks or anything like that its all enabled bone stock =]

yeah im just wondering, if its possible to modify the files to make it to where even if an app hasn't, the black will still be semi transparent, b/c im sure there will be plenty of developers who choose to not bother adding it

[GUIDE][MOD] Make Status Bar & Navigation Bar transparent in 4.4 Home/Lockscreen
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
I tried this before on aokp jellybean, its ugly because the transparency isnt within the apps (just like iOS) but the homescreen you can see your wallpaper while inside an app lol i guess it all depends on the app if it wants you to use full emersion :/

Use gravity box module with xposed
Only nexus 5 has transparent bar, nexus 4 update to 4.4.2 cannot install latest android home launcher.
You mean like this?

GPU: 450 MHz Overclock

Just went thru an rooted installed this mod, literally does everything, except transparency lol Thanks tho for the help/replies guys.
Just use a custom rom with it built in. Custom roms have had transparencies way back in the day. Where do you think Google got the idea?
Xposed does this well. You have to enable transparency AND have a launcher and touchscreen that supports it. If your launcher doesn't support it then it won't work. Gotta have both.

So I was one of those who wanted this status bar to be completely transparent in stock rom but I was not able to find a proper way to make it transparent. Well, SystemUI editing did it but it caused the status bar to look really bad other than home screen.
I also have a G2 and I wanted my Optimus G to look like G2. So here is how(closest I get).
This method is tested on Epsilon V3. I assume it will work on other stock based roms as well.
You will need;
Root access
Xposed Framework
GravityBox for transparent status bar
Xblast Tools(Optional, for white clock)
Any launcher other than stock LGHome(Because It doesn't support the status bar to be transparent. It leaves the area behind the status bar black. So you won't get a transparent status bar but a black one instead. I recommend Nova or Apex.)
What to do:
-Install Xposed Framework(here)
-Download Gravitybox Module from Xposed Installer(JB version, obviously.)
-Activate Gravitybox and open it
-Go to Transparency management and set the first two settings to 100%
-Reboot
Now you have a transparent status bar only in lockscreen and home screen. The status bar could remain black when it should be gray for a couple of minutes after boot, then it will fix itself.
You can also download Xblast Tools module from Xposed Installer and use it to change clock color to white. But remember, you also have to fix the notification panel colors as Xblast Tools breaks notification panel transparency(not status bar) when activated.
Here are some screenshots from my phone:
Woooo Man, it looks so nice. Great job!!!

You should use an external launcher like Nova or Apex. Stock LG Launcher doesn't support transparency. Read the op.

If you are using a 4.2.2 or 4.3 stock based custom Jellybean Touchwiz rom like Wicked
or Darthstalker "Wanam" will change any text colors or backgrounds in your status bar.
If you are NOT using a jellybean touchwiz based rom then most likely hardly any
of the features and options in wanam will work for you.
You must have not read the instructions on how to use Wanam completely.
In Wanam any of the mods which deal with colors have an off/on switch
at the top right hand side of the screen.
The first thing you need to do to change any colors is to turn that switch on.
Then change the colors as you see fit and after you are done selecting the colors
click on the "apply" button. Then back out of Wanam and reboot the phone.
The one and only way Wanam will not change colors in your status bar would be if you perhaps
added a theme or mod which already made changes or modifcations to your status bar prior to
installing and using Wanam.
Be sure that you have opened the xposed installer and done the download there, rebooted the
phone and be sure you have added the Wanam module into the Xposed tab before trying to use
any part of Wanam.
Good luck!
