I recently got my local cell repair shop to fix my Canadian Rogers Samsung Galaxy S3 SGH-1747M, and a few days later I decided to try to install a custom rom ( CM11 or AOKP), and I hard bricked it after trying to install different versions of roms because NONE of them were working. Spent 15 hours straight trying to fix this thing. Dont know what to do. Please help. The phone has a black screen and the light comes on if you unplug the USB and pull the battery and put the usb back in the light flashes.
What do I do?

Unfortunately if the device has absolutely no power at all, the device is considered a "hard" brick. The only ways to recover from a hard brick is using a JIG (possible solution) or a JTAG. JTAG cannot be used by an inexperienced tech and they are expensive to purchase. There are a number of sites that you can send your phone to that will complete the JTAG resurrection for you for around 80.00 USD.
I hard bricked my phone once while flashing CWM and was lucky enough it was within 30 days of purchase. I acted like I didn't know what happened when I got to the AT&T store and they gladly replaced it for me. You can try your luck but no guarantees. Sorry about your luck =(
A note going forward: I was only able to find a i9300 download for foxhound. You are currently in the i747/i747m forum... If you downloaded the i9300 version of Foxhound onto your device (which is for international phones) this is why your phone is no longer functioning.
You cannot flash i9300 ROMs onto USA device variants.

^^^ This is exactly right. It is a confusing point for many too, especially coming from a GS2 where compatibility was a lot better.
Good point. I probably should have looked into fox hound before I installed it.
I'm on Bell in Canada so I run a i747m.
I guess it's my own fault in the end.
I'll see if I can take it over to the Bell store and see what I can do, otherwise I guess I'll have to send it in to get it unbricked.
Thanks for the help guys.
Let us know what happens.
Hello I want to start by saying I know the phone is hard bricked and Jtag or warranty is the only solution. I have an AT&T S3 with root and goomanager on it running the stock ROM. I ordered an S4 and thought I might play with some other ROMs on the S3 until the S4 arrives so in goomanager I had it install the latest recovery and when it was done I told it to reboot into recovery to familiarize myself with how TWRP worked. However the phone shut down and never rebooted so I tried to power on and got nothing removed the battery for a minute and tried again still nothing plugged into the charger nothing plugged into the computer and got QHSUSB_DLOAD driver not found. I did some reading and came to the realization that the phone is bricked. I am ok with it because I am still under warranty for about another month and as I said I have an S4 that should be here on Monday but I would really like to know what went wrong as to avoid it in the future. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Goo Manager can be a real nightmare for some people. If you have a d2att and flashed a d2att recovery you've done nothing wrong really. I only update my twrp when the .zip gets added to here to avoid using Goo.Manager at all.
Have you tried booting into recovery? Volume up + power + home?
I also know a tip that works well for booting into download is pulling the battery plugging in the usb and doing the botton combo Volume down + power + home and inserting the battery.
Maybe you'll get lucky.
Thank you for the reply I did as you suggested and a red light comes on until I put the battery back in then it does nothing. I did get ahold of AT&T and they have sent out a replacement phone at no charge and it should be here Tuesday. I thought Goo Manager was the newest bulletproof rom manager out I use it with my S2 and have never had an issue so I thought it had to be something I did. Thanks again and Ill be more careful of how I install TWRP or should I be using Clockwork with this phone?
So I wanted to install a new custom ROM and I all ready had one. It wasn't the first time. So, like usual I download the files needed and put them on my phone, boot into recovery and flash them ( but I didn't factory reset or anything because with the ROM I had I didn't need to for it to work I could just fix the not responding errors) Then i go to reboot and I wait. Nothing, nothing at all. Now I try to remove the battery and try again and now none of my buttons do ANYTHING the only sign of life there is, is when I remove the battery and plug my phone to a usb cable and attempt to charge it, all that happens is a red LED comes up. It's probably due to one of the things i installed on my phone that flashes a red LED when battery is low. Please help me with this. My last resort is to give my phone to rogers for them to fix it because I still have a warranty.
Specs: S3 i1747M Rogers
I had aokp jellybean 4.3 as my ROM
I do have a nandroid but its on my phone's sd card
Thank you for your time and I hope we get this to work.

No there's litteraly nothing I can do. pressing all the buttons does absolutely nothing. Just stays black and no signs of life
bump. I need help fast with this.
Not sure exactly what you did but I hate to say its sounds hard bricked. Mine was exactly the same, with only the red light coming on for about a minute when cord was plugged in with no battery. I screwed mine up with a file I grabbed without reading properly what it was for and in my haste I installed it. After I rebooted it never came back until I got it back from warranty with a replaced control board. Im guessing they didnt even check the internal memory or they would haven known what a dumbass i was since i voided the warranty doing stuff i had done before that mistake. Glad I had made a nandroid before i pooched it so i didnt lose anything after i got it back.
Yeah after some research I found out I hardbricked it but this isn't the first time and I had a warranty for both( different phones btw )times so I guess I'll just send it out. :c
could just be out of juice, leave it on the charger for around an hour then try and go into download mode.
So i recently hard bricked my phone while installing a custom rom and im about to lose it. I downloaded this rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/development/m-d-4-tw-4-4-4-mody-rom-tw-4-4-2-l-n-t3005765

Debrick image is only way besides a jtag to get it to turn on again.
Try at 16GB or 32GB memory card only! anything lower will not work.
I would suggest trying it again it took me a few tries to get the phone to boot . keep it plugged in to wall battery out , put battery in and turn on you should feel a vibration and then viola ODIN MODE.
Note: if you have a t999L the image is different from the T999 ensure you use correct one!
Good luck!

I appreciate the concern but it would be very helpfull if you or someone on this forum could provide me with a samsung galaxy s3 sgh t999 debrick img file. ive been searching for days.
Flashing any ROM from the i9300 (international version of the s3) to the i747 (AT&T s3) or T999 (T-mobile s3) is pretty much guaranteed to brick a phone.
Does this link help: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2439367
I installed Cyanogenmod 12.1 on my sprint s3 with CWM about a month ago; everything was working fine until last night when my phone died on me and after leaving it on the charger over night I woke to find my phone Hard Bricked. Now I know it's not the battery since I have two (both of which I've fully charged via battery charger) and I can't get into download mode or recovery mode; plus given the fact that there is no battery charger light on when phone is plugged into charger; except when the battery is not in the phone then it's only lit up for around 30 seconds: I am absolutely sure that my phone is Hard Bricked (Still not sure as to why my phone Hard Bricked in the first place though), and given the fact that I've lost my old img back up I made when I installed a new linux OS on my PC a few days ago foolishly not backing up all my phone files. Given all that I can say without a doubt that my phone is screwed without any help from someone else, but sadly out of everyone I know personally not one of them seams to have a Sph-L710 S3.
Now I've searched all day now to find a dumped sph-l710 5.1.1 cyanogenmod 12.1 image to no avail (not sure if the recovery software is a factory but I use CLOCKWORKMOD). Now I know that a SD card debrick loader has a chance to not work but I really would like to at least find out whether or not it will help me in my situation, or if I should just finally decide to upgrade to a new device (the latter option is not exactly appealing to me; oh how I love my S3 with its perfect size), If there is anyone that could possible help me out I would greatly appreciate it. So, that is my issue; I hope that you can help if not thanks for the effort of reading this post anyways.
Have you looked at any of the threads on this forum talking of unbricking a hard bricked s3?

good call. thats where i got debrick image that i keep on internal storage, just in case!
You don't need an image from the rom you were running, you need an image for the firmware you were on.
What was the last touchwiz version that you were running/last update that you took? That's the version of the debrick image that you need to find.
Yes thats what we were trying to tell him. The thread we are referring to is this one...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2369125
which has the firmware images in link there. i got the one for my ND8 there :good:
Nice stats!
