If anyone can remember I've had this issue not only once but twice, and now, this makes the third time.
Idk what's going on or why this would happen again. Maybe it's MHL, since I use it frequently, or a LG issue. Who knows Anyways I have insurance with sprint but I'm afraid they will make a big deal since I've already taken it back twice. Or should that even matter? I don't think it should but who knows.
Now my questions are, I have a stock backup but TWRP installed, will sprint notice it if i try to get them to fix it??? Is there a way to reset back to stock without a PC???
I'm very frustrated because this has happened too many times now and I don't think it's a software issue but a hardware issue, which makes me hesitant to get another LGOG. which sucks because I really enjoy this phone.
Anyways, any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks again to all who have helped in the past. And this community here is awesome.
idk how i got here...
Mine will or won't recognize based on the cable I'm using at the time.

ok so i noticed MHL wouldnt work with my phone with certain roms, so i firgured it was a rom issue. But, there were roms that did work with MHL so it wasnt a big issue. Then i noticed the rom i was using stopped working with MHL, and at first I thought it was an xposed module that made it stop working, so i restored a stock backup, after removing the xposed modules and same thing happened. But this made me recall my first experience with MHL not working and my first reaction was to see if my pc recognized it, and unfortunately it didnt, so i already knew what happened. One of my usb pins broke...(thats what the tech said who fixed my phone) which by now isnt a big deal because its natural now, well to me it is. So i just assumed i would take advantage of it and try new roms, since alot of roms I've tried didnt work well with MHL so why not?!... Anyways, after trying new roms and flollowing the instructions to a tee, i flashed a new rom and rebooted to a black lit screen, which is what happened the first\second time this has happened to me. LG screen pops up but thats it, nothing else. Battery is charged cuz I've charged it before. Plug it in just in case and LG screen pops up and then the black lit screen. Holding power plus volume down does nothing nor does holding power plus volume up. And since computer cant recognize the phone, download mode does nothing. So, idk if this helps with development here but its happened too many times for me to where idk if i want another LGOG.
If anyone has any insight or a similar experience, PLEASE SHARE!!!
And again THANKS to everyone here.
I have the same issues as you for the most part. I get the black lit screen from time to time as well, but mine usually happens if i let the battery drain. It won't go into charging mode and will not boot. Just the LG, and then black screen. It usually takes two to five times trying to get into recovery mode before it boots

OK an update for people who would "like" to know
Well turns out my phone is not done for turns out the battery was dead. :banghead: anyways phone is good to go BUT my usb still doesn't connect so I guess that's the only downside. Which I honestly think mhl is to blame since I use it constantly.
Well this can be closed but thanks to everyone who was kind enough to help.

So I cannot stress how much time I've dedicated in reading and searching and have read and read. It was either the person's phone was flashed to a rom or had unlocked bootloaders. Whatever the issue, I felt I should post my issue. I have a Xperia that is only rooted. IS ALL. No flashed roms with stock kernels, no unlocked bootloaders. Nada, none of that. So recently my phone's lcd backlight started flashing on and off everytime I'd slide my phone. I figured I'd open it up which I pulled a tutorial from youtube and opened my phone up CAREFULLY. I mean I did this the most safest way ever! I finally get to putting everything back together and boom! Nothing! No logo, no vibration, no nothing! I'm freaked! So I plug the computer by usb and hear the usb connection sound and for a quick second I was relieved... then again comes the flashing red light... I'm gonna say it for the hell of it but I swear the damn thing is blinking orange but me and my lady had a debate she said it was clearly red so I think it's dark orange.. Regardless!! It blinks ruffly every three seconds and only blinks when connected WITH OR WITHOUT BATTERY. Can someone please give me any ideas? Should I open it up and make sure nothing happened or something? I'm just so worried and no longer have a phone at all... I'd greatly appreciate it and if anything else happens I'll keep ya updated. Thanks again.

Hayley: Hi Michael, thank you for contacting Sony Xperia UK Chat Support. My name is Hayley, please could I take your full name and email address?
Michael: Yes
Michael: Michael *******@gmail.com
Hayley: Thank you for providing me with this information, how can I help you today?
Michael: My Xperia Play is blinking with a red light every three seconds and won't turn on.
Hayley: Have you tried charging the phone?
Michael: yes all night and it still was left blinking
Hayley: I'd suggest that you first try updating the software in your handset. This can be done using the Update Service program here: http://www-support-downloads.sonymobile.com/Software Downloads/Update_Service_Setup-2.11.12.5.exe
Michael: well if I connect it to the computer I still get only a blinking red light... will this file fix the connection issue?
Hayley: You connect the phone whilst it is switched off so you should still be able to use it.
Michael: ok I'll try I'll let you know if anything changes
Hayley: No problem. I hope the information I have provided is okay. Is there anything else I can help you with?
Michael: well can I wait until i try this ?
Hayley: The update will take about 15 minutes to run so you will need to try this and contact us again if it doesn't resolve it.
Michael: k thanks**
I'm gonna try this update service and see if anything else works.. Please guys if you know anything let me know
****UPDATE****
Still nothing at all... I'm hoping I really didn't screw anything up... I'm going to open the phone for the third time and try again.
*Update*
Nothing ended up working I might as well just end up tossing the damn thing in the trash.
*********UPDATE!!!!***********
After getting back home from work I decided to play around with it and try a little experiment and I figured ahh the hell with it. I somehow magically got it to work!!!
Here's what I did,
I pried open the back cover of the phone and flipped the battery backwards and connected the three gold spots and pressed down counted for five seconds. I then turned it back over to the correct way and pressed and held the power button and felt a vibration and was like WTH????? Boom! Sony Ericsson logo came on so It's back up and running!! THE MOTHERBOARD IS SAFE THANK GOODNESS!!! It may have just been the battery.. Well I'm still having problems everytime I slide the keyboard up and down it automatically shuts down but I figured I can just replace the slide strip that connects the lcd. But again I appreciate the support and thank you all so much!
Open it up again and make sure everything is connected securely. Give it a good clean with one of those compressed air cans as well to blow any dust out of the ports.
The red flashing light seems to me like something is disconnected somewhere internally

hey thanks for replying and for the help I really appreciate it. I've already tried opening it up twice but still nothing I've give it a third shot though
Have you tried connecting it in flash mode and using flashtool to flash a new ROM? If you're worried about losing what's on the phone, tell flashtool not to wipe user data.
Also, for next time, this should be posted in Q&A, not general.

That doesn't quite answer my question. Did you try with flash mode and flashtool, or only the Sony Ericsson software?
Also, are the Gordon's gate drivers that come with flashtool properly installed?

Found the problem
Its either your battery or your motherboard.
Either get a new battery, or send it in for repair...Sorry dude
Due to the connection issue it seems like the motherboard
Edit: Try charging it ALL DAY. Blinking red lights can also mean the phone doesn't have enough charge to even activate the screen (0% battery) and just needs to be fully charged again
Sent from my Xperia Play using xda premium
Well i think its the motherboard but i appreciate all answers. I left it charging all night and by morning when i woke up the phone felt warm but still no charge. Its funny though because the phone i actually liked failed on me lol. Im just gonna save.up and buy for a new one. Would you guys consider amazon for an phone that says used but like new?

The answer for your question well it didn't recognize anything and i used the Sony software and flashtool all it says is unknown device even after installing all fresh drivers. I really have just spent way to much time in for this device important better off buying a new one and keeping the spare parts on this one.

I had the same problem, and totally freaked out, because i had been tampering a bit with the kernel and i thought i had bricked my phone, but i searched for it and this popped up... talk.sonymobile.com/thread/28276?start=10&tstart=0
it basicly means that one or more of the pins dont get contact when trying to charge, and therefore the phone keeps flashing the low-battery-red-led
ofc im not entirely sure that you have the same problem, and it seemed as if it fixed itself or somethng
phone wont boot at all after install. wont even go into download mode.
phone worked perfectly when i was running beastmod 3.0 i believe. i stayed inactive ever since.. i made sure i could get into download right before i went ahead to the jedi mind trick update. like i said, everything worked perfectly. tested out all button combos for recovery and download mode (even did the pulling the battery and plugging the usb method) with success before i updated. yes phone was on 100% battery . it was on the charger the whole night.
i logged back on because i felt like updating and read about Jedi Mind Trick. installed TWRP recovery as well a few days ago. i wiped everything of course, flashed, repaired , reboot. I got a black screen for awhile and let it sit for 30min. no response, so i pulled the battery and tried to turn on. phone wouldnt turn on so i tried to get into download mode and failed. phone is completely unresponsive.
what to do? i'm just stumped now. i was inactive, but by no means am i new to this.

I see by no means are you a rookie but I will ask have you tried to plug your phone in to your pc and see if it makes a noise and recognizes it. Honestly I would assume prior to posting you probably tried everything so it may be unfortunate but you may have to send to JTAG or go through insurance.
Cant see a rom doing that to your phone? Unless you had some hardware failure
Have you tried using a usb jig to force it into download mode?

after flashing:
1) i did plug into 2 laptops(windows 7) and a 2 desktop(vista and xp). "tries" to install the drivers and then makes the fail noise.
2) tried to use the SGS2 toolkit as well.
prior to flashing:
1) phone mounted successfully to 1 laptop and 1 desktop. thats all i tried it on. i used my laptop to transfer the flash zips and my desktop to back up my internal memory since i havent done it in awhile.
2) everything just worked. my only gripe was that my phone was still on gingerbread and decided to update to to ICS
i'm just puzzled myself. i did try everything that i could think of to at least get the phone to turn on somehow. i even went back to sleep and put the phone on the charger hoping the phone would just magically turn on itself >_<
i know i've been super inactive for awhile, but it only took me a few of days to get myself back up to speed and catch up on the new information.
Also would like to add that i used 3 samsung micro usb cords(2x sgs2 and vibrant),jig,2htc cords(hd3 and mytouch 4g) and even my old nokia micro usb. No success but at last the laptop is detecting the phone when trying to install drivers and then fail.
I know i did not download thw wrong rom either its not like i go off to other phone sub-forums to look for stuff.
Chalk this up to bad luck and move on. Its not the ROM. Period. Like pmtr3 said, 20,000 downloads plus, and your the first one to say this happened. Sorry to hear about your phone.

i have no clue what happened. maybe some kind of freak hardware failure. i used to be so into flashing, but decided to use my phone as a phone instead of always flashing.
i did call TMo for a warranty replacement, but the SGS2 is supposedly on back order -____- they recommended an alternative device, but not details yet until they get back to me.
this isnt my first SGS2. i got mine during TMo's firesale on Nov. 19th. 3 days later, i exchanged under the 14day grace period it due to horrible data drops and robotic voice. The phone was stock at the time. Data drops made it impossible to download-on-the-go for whatever the professors assigned . 2nd one worked like a charm.

yes....i'm cutting my loses and doing a warranty exchange. Hopefully an SGS3 due to having 2 SGS2's. Usually, they will upgrade to the next device if your current device is not available and you had 2 replacements.
i'm trying to find my Good ol' G1 that never really failed me. i used to like using it from time to time whenever i had my vibrant just for nostalgia purposes.
I decided to ROOT my phone, which seemed to be sucessful, and then I attempted to install a Custom ROM (where the problem began). This ROM used the AROMA installer and all seemed to be going fine. I rebooted at the end. I wasn't watching my phone at this point because I'm used to reboots following ROM installs taking a while so I just ignored it a bit. When I looked back finally, the screen was off. I figured that it had just gone to sleep but I couldn't wake it up.
What's worse is that I cant get it to turn back on at all! I've tried pulling the batter, hard reset (Power + volume up and power + volume up + home key). Nothing. Is there any advice anyone can give me? What did I do wrong and is there a way to recover the device?

I'm not 100% sure actually. was low when I started the root process but I did have the device plugged in the whole time though. Do you think that's the problem? I actually swapped my battery with my GF's battery (which was nearly fully charged) so I don't think its a "dead battery" issue. Any ideas on how I can get it back on? Doesn't even show the charging icon.
Plug it into Odin and see if anything comes up.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
Yes your battery died in the process of flashing which sucks bwcause i do not know what are the consequences of it but seems bad since you cannot even get into download mode. Never flash with battery below 50%. Good thing is though that if the phone does not turn on at all then jist go to tmobilw store say left it overnight to charge when woke up was all black screen. Idk whats wrong with it. Get a replacement.
Sent from my SGH-T999
Pull the battery out for like 2-3 mins then let it charge for like 15 and try to get in download mode... If it does pop odin open and flash stock image. You can find it under the stickies in dev section.
Sent from my SGH-T999
I wasn't able to resolve the issue but I was able to take it back to the TMO store and just swap it for another one. The guy didn't ask too many questions. Crisis averted but it's made me hesitant to flash on this again so soon. I've rooted and flashed dozens of Android devices for myself and others over the years but this is the first time something like this has happened to me. Being careless I suppose. When I get my nerves back up, I'll be back.
Thanks for all the help you guys offered. I appreciate it.
This morning I woke up and went to switch on my Acer A100 to no avail. The power button will light up blue and the home button will light up, but the screen is black.
I first tried the paperclip reset, and worked all the way up to a hard reset, but the problem persists.
Thinking I could possibly just reflash the ROM (I'm running the ICS Gen1 ROM I downloaded from XDA (which worked for the last several months)), I went to plug my Acer into my computer running Windows 7, and heard a strange noise. My tablet is showing up in APX mode, which from what I have read may be helpful for me to start fixing this thing.
However, I'm having trouble finding the drivers I'd need to start doing further troubleshooting.
Any help that could be provided would be greatly appreciated.
Hopefully this isn't a lost cause, because I've certainly voided my warranty by flashing ROMS in the past, correct? I've had the tablet for less than a year, and have been generally dissatisfied with it (it gets sluggish, doesn't always charge correctly, and generally acts strange).
The same thing recently happened to me, no screen but the blue light was on. I had to send it in to Acer. I also had a custom ROM on my tablet but they fixed it for free ad sent it back, so its worth a try. If it doesn't show the boot screen I don't think they can tell.

Sounds like a dead emmc. Since it is not bootable, acer will not know if you were flashing roms, send it back... :good:
They have to be getting a ton of these dead tabs back, so I doubt they even waste time looking anymore.

Wow this really seems to be happening often with the Acer A100. Happened to me just yesterday, Tab was working great there were no signs of problems or at least none that I could tell then out of the blue the Tab just froze up forcing me to Power down by holding the power button for xx number of seconds and never booted up again. Only thing that comes on the screen the the Acer logo screen. So what does dead emmc mean, does it just mean the system died or is there any detailed info on what it really is?

Its been explained a few times, notably in the bricked thread. Its partial erasing of the emmc which corrupts the gpt. What causes it is unknown, and Acer won't admit to it or help us with it or even talk about it.

As the title reads my Note 2 will not turn on. It will not go into recovery mode. I have 5 batteries and none of them are working. Yesterday I got 2 weird messages that "BadgeProvider" and "Samsung" has stopped. The phone started acting weird by not letting me use anything but the notification bar. I couldn't even turn it off using the power button. I removed the battery and reinserted the battery a couple of times and still it didn't work only letting me use the notification bar. Finally it started working for some random reason and I restarted the phone and all was well.
I'm so use to having 5 batteries that I did not have the phone on the charger last night and it died. Now the phone will not turn on at all. Not into recovery mode. Not normal mode. It is totally unresponsive. Tried rapidly touching the contacts with the battery contact and nothing. What can I do to get my phone working????????????
Also to add to this, yesterday when I was taking the phone's battery out and in the phone would start booting by itself. Could this be a power button issue? I've only had the phone for about 10 months and never dropped it without the otterbox defender series on it.

From that statement above, having the otter box doesn't mean you'll be protected against drops. Yes it'll protect the phone but still suffered inside the device! I had a friend crack his screen on the corner, with an otter box on with one drop!
Now back to the phone:
Since you can get into recovery have you tried a factory data reset to see if that fixes your problem..

I plan to read all responses as soon as I can because I'm in dire need of help. The phone WILL NOT turn back on. The first day I had the problem it gave me the "BadgeProvider" has stopped working and also the "Samsung" has stopped working error messages. The only thing that was responsive was responsive was my notification bar. I could slide it down turn wifi on and off etc from there but when I hit the setting button on the notification bar it would not open up the settings immediately and there was maybe a 2 minute delay (I walked away from the phone and came back to it) and it would finally open it up but giving me the 2 error messages "BadgeProvider" and "Samsung" has stopped working. Read online that clearing the BadgeProvider data under "Application Manager->All->BadgeProvider" would fix this issue so thats what I did. Wallah it worked fine.....fell asleep without my phone on the charger and it died but I have 5 batteries so who cares. Woke up noticed the phone was dead then I swapped batteries (OEM Samsung battery). Tried to turn it on and it will not turn on. Tried putting it on the charger (even though it should be a freshly charged battery) and the red charging light will not even come on. Tried to boot into recovery mode and still unresponsive.
As of now I CANNOT boot into revovery mode, turn on the phone in any way, get the charging light to come on when plugged in (I have 5 other batteries plus an external battery charger so its definitely not truely dead battery wise), I cannot get the phone to do anything what so ever. Tried removing external storage from it, tried removing sim, tried 5 different fully charged batteries and nothing.
Anyone that can give me some insight on what the problem may be and a possible solution I would greatly appreciate it.

True, true.....Or, they post the same question in five forums....lol.
What do you guys think about using Odin? Can he get into the phone if it won't go to recovery? Can you install TWRP or CWM, they may automatically set the phone to restart in recovery mode? Just some thoughts....I am not a dev., just an avid user.
Something here might help as well. :

Keep us posted on what you try, and your status. Good luck.
Also if it helps any, I have had my phone restart by itself randomly way before rooting it. After rooting I still had the restarts just as I have always had (maybe once every 3 weeks). Rooting it gave me no errors at all and it has been working fine for months being rooted. Not sure if letting you guys know of the restarting issue is going to help anything but I'm telling you all I know to try to debug this issue.

I did read the whole post, hence my reply. Towards the end of his post, he says that the phone won't turn on at all. Maybe you should read the whole post.

So there is no power at all, not even a loop. I had a similar problem with a LePan tab, but when I plugged it into my laptop via USB, it would start.....Sorry. Sounds hardware....
Good luck

Thanks man. I'm thinking it's hardware too. Herd of motherboard problems early on with this phone that would cause it to randomly shut off and not come back on.
Has ANYONE had any experience with samsung repair centers???? Do they care if the device is rooted even if its a known hardware issue?
Thanks for any help

I've read a few people having that problem with the phone randomly turning off.
[Q] did you get the phone New or used? If its used you have a lot of people out there selling devices with problems that they couldn't fix! FYI

Does it get recognized by the PC?
When you plug it in? If so then you should be able to try the Kies recovery!
If not then kies won't help..

I brought it directly from AT&T new. And nope. Tried pluggin it into the PC and not recognized. Tried Kies and Odin and neither had any affect. The phone is just completely unresponsive now.
Thinking about trying to take it to Samsung before AT&T so I can try to miss the deductible.
Remove the battery ...then plug the device in to USB connection with your PC...
Then attempt to boot the phone into download mode..
If successful ....then immediately push the rooted stock rom from Mr. Robinsons thread in the development section...
If no download mode exists while attempting boot with the battery removed ...then the likelihood of device damage is high...
This of course does not rule out the possibility of a stuck power button ...but that hardware failure generally presents a repeated and uncontrolled loop which in this case we are not seeing...
Odin mode failure generally means a defective or damaged Chipset...g

Ok since you want to take it in to Sammy. And you did state you got it New from the AT&T store. Then you can take it into one of the DSC. (Device support center)
Check HERE:
http://www.att.com/esupport/article.jsp?sid=KB91429&cv=820#fbid=CS_QLPeF54-
Hopefully there's one in your area. I have one like 10 mins away from me
Hopefully they can help you get back up and running. No charge either. It's a warranty center. Member no Rom talk in there.. LOL:sly:
But if they can't get it to turn on you'll be getting another the same day. Takes about a total of 15 minutes and you'll be on your way with your new toy!! Yay and good luck to you. Lety us know what you're outcome is!

Got a new phone. It was a painless process. Just walk in play dumb and talk as least as possible. They never asked a question about rooting. I'm guessing because I seemed like an idiot . Going to let it do all the updates it can then going to root it tomorrow using CFroot.
Thanks all for the info.
Anyone reading this in the future let me know if I can help in anyway.
Glad you got a new device ..and for the record ...I personally believe you had a bad device from day 1...
Normally I would frown on anyone taking back a device that has been modded ...but I can see no evidence in your case that indicates your doing anything that would break your chipset ...
And I know that others feel the same way ...
You tried your guts out ...and the device just didn't act properly from day 1...
Please place a "Solved" in the thread title if you don't mind ...
That way ...everyone knows the issue has been corrected ..
Many thanks ...and....
Happy flashing ....g
